DM Amazing Red |
Chugan is successful with with his sap on the helpless assassin while Marisa disappears from sight. The previously invisible assassin appears behind Bracus!
Power Attack VS Flatfooted: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
1d10 + 4d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + (2, 5, 3, 4) + 10 = 28
The other unheld assassin tumbles away from Pallas!
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
And tumbles around Chugan!
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 I think this one he fails so he provokes an AOO from Chugan.
He then smacks Brachus!
Flank!: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
1d10 + 5d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + (6, 1, 4, 4, 6) + 10 = 34
The last assassin tries to shake off the spell.
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
And he does! Party is up!
Vahanian |
When the one tumbles away from me and pallas that triggers my rage power no escape and as an immediate action I follow him up to twice my speed away.
V attacks!
Nonlethal+Power Attack+Rage: 1d20 + 22 + 2 - 3 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 22 + 2 - 3 - 4 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 17 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 17 + 9 + 2 = 34
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas dances around the table to save Brachus from his unfortunate predicament.
Move action to J9; swift action to activate arcane strike; free action to continue battle dance; Nonlethal Power attack: 1d20 + 22 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 22 - 4 = 34, +3 if Brachus threatens; Damage: 1d6 + 23 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 23 + (1) = 28; Confirmation: 1d20 + 22 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 22 - 4 = 37+3 if Brachus threatens; Crit damage: 1d6 + 23 ⇒ (2) + 23 = 25
Brachus |
Brachus doesn't threaten, wearing shield and I need a hand to cast spells
Brachus clearly wounded takes a step back
Moving to K8
and proudly displays his holy symbol making everyone (or at least himself and Chugan) in the party (within 30ft) feel a bit better
channeled healing, excluding enemies: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 5, 2) = 21
Hps: 73-28-34+21=27
Marisa Hayami |
Marisa moves to L7 and casts Dispacement on Brachus.
Chugan |
Chugan laps around the building into a flanking position, hearing Brachus offer a chance to surrender. Chugan holds back a moment, waiting for a response, ready to sap the poor bloke if he twitches.
Ready a vital strike for any hostile move or spellcast. If that does happen:
Sap attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
nonlethal damage: 2d6 + 8 + 5d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 8 + (3, 4, 5, 2, 3) + (5) = 38+1 DEX, -2/-6 attack penalty
Brachus |
Brachus disarms the assassins and starts to tie them up and then casts detect magic to make sure he doesn't miss anything.
"So..do we wake one of them up now and try to get some answers....or just keep them tied-up and wait till tommorow so I have time to prepare some spells to check to see if they tell the truth?"

Minutes after your ambush, Martysan arrives. He is genuinely shocked at the scene. "Apologies, the boat I was supposed to take left without me. What happened here?"
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas help tie up the assassins, then quickly goes out to find some kind of law enforcement figure.
DM Amazing Red |
Marthysan looks over the would-be assassins. "These are agents of the Golden League. They are possibly here to stop you from ruining their gambling prospects. I will tell the Emissary of what has transpired here. You all focus on getting some well needed rest. Just stay vigilant and cautious." He says halting Pallas before making leave.
The next day you are summoned for your quarterfinal match. The first thing you notice is that the fight stage has been transformed into a giant swamp. Your opponent is the eunuch known as Hok Fong.
B: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
C: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
H: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
L: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
M: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
P: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
V: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
1d10 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Hok Fong is a very corpulent Tian-Shu man carrying a pig in one arm. With his other hand he casts a spell.
Cloak of Dreams
Vahanian is up! The bog is difficult terrain.
DM Amazing Red |
Vahanian delays. Out of the bog, swarms of leeches swim up and start biting the party!
Everyone takes: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
Everyone can also give me a fort save DC15 or take Dex Drain: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Give me a fort save DC15 vs Distraction. You also take 1d3 ⇒ 3 points of strength and con damage(no save) from blood drain.
Everyone is up!
Marisa Hayami |
str dmg: 3 con dmg 3
fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
distraction: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
spellcraft: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28
"He just put up an enchantment that will make you fall asleep if you get too close!"
"Ewww. Get of me."
Marisa pulls her rod of selective, then burns all the leaches away from the party.
Caster Level Check Fire spell vs Water DC 23: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Heightened Intensified fireball DC 23: 12d6 + 12 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4, 4, 1, 6, 2, 4, 1, 1, 5) + 12 + 12 + 2 = 62
Marisa moves to the nearest patch of relatively dry land.
Leaches should all likely be dead, so no one else should need to make the swarm checks.
Chugan |
fort vs dex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
All of this assumes the leech swarms are crispy
Not wanting to slog through the bog, Chugan whispers a command word in Celestial and then flies up so he's hovering 5 feet above and in front of where he'd been standing.
Free Action Rage for +4 DEX, standard activate my Celestial Armor, then move as described.
DM Amazing Red |
Yea, even if they make the save, they are crispy.
Marisa's arcane might can not be matched as she roasts the leeches to a crisp. If any were into such a thing, they would be perfect for snacking. Chugan's armor grows wings as he takes flight. Vahanian, Pallas, and Brachus are up! You still need saves vs the poison and you still take the str/con drain.
Brachus |
Fort save vs poison: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 no dex drain
10 damage and 3 str + 3 con drain
"Thanks for getting those leeches of of us Marisa"
..it's a good thing we had a bit of rest between the previous fights and this one..so I have my spells back..."
Brachus casts communal air walk and raises up above the mud
Since I have to touch everyone, ending my move at 5ft in the air in G6
"That should prevent any further leeches from reaching us...and prevent the mud from slowing us down."
This is still combat in front of crowd right? So healing will be precieved as bad sport..and Marisa could roll a crowd pleasing check for doing a fire based spell?
Pallas Morningstar |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Fort save vs DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29, no Dex drain, whew!
3 Str and Con damage
Pallas winces as the leech's attack courses through his system, weakening him and slowing him down.
He jumps into the air experimentally, stepping as if he were taking over-large strides. "Not really familiar with this ..."
Once in the air, he begins twirling like a top while intoning a prayer to Sarenrae in a sing-songy voice.
Move 10' into the air in my square; activate battle dance as a swift action and Dance of 23 Steps as a free action, caste haste as a standard action.
Vahanian |
With air walk I should be able to charge right too him as long as there is nothing in my way. If there is something in the way I will double move.
Rage+Charge+Power Attack+ Powerful Blow: 1d20 + 22 + 2 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 22 + 2 + 2 - 3 = 34
Damage: 2d6 + 17 + 9 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 17 + 9 + 2 + 3 = 36
DM Amazing Red |
V Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Vahanian charges the mage and strikes a telling blow. However, he quickly falls asleep soon after. Vahanian is unconscious for 1 minute or until someone takes a standard action to wake him up.
Hok Fong starts casting a spell!
Dominate Person
Party is up!
Marisa Hayami |
"V you knucklehead."
Marisa casts magic missile. 1 missile targeting Vahanian, the other 4 targeting the caster.
V damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
caster damage: 4d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 1) + 4 + 2 = 13
Pallas Morningstar |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
"We'll have none of that ... whatever it is," Pallas yells as he dances through the air toward Hok Fong.
Stop Dance of 23 Steps as free action; continue battle dance as free action; activate arcane strike as swift action; Charge Hok Fong to Q7: Scimitar attack - PA: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (17) + 24 = 41, Damage+Sonic: 1d6 + 23 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 23 + (2) = 28, Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35, Crit damage: 1d6 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28
Will save vs. Sleep: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Sigh
Reroll will save: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 4 = 15
LOL!
Brachus |
" ....well there's no real difference between them being asleep or being stunned for a few seconds....I might as well try it.."
Brachus casts a sound burst, including his sleeping companions In the hope that they will wake up and make their saves and Hok doesn't ..or maybe fails his concentration check
Sonic damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1 no save, and a DC 19 fort save or be stunned for 1 round
Brachus then whispers to Marissa"You might want to hit him with everything you got..we can wake up the rest once he goes down"
Pallas Morningstar |
Fort save: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 4 = 19
Pallas wakes next to Vahanian ...
Will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
... then immediately falls back asleep again.
Chugan |
Well, lets see if I have better luck....
Chugan moves in, wanting to end this guy quickly at this point.
Fly in and Vital Strike his face, activating the "Sneaky" property on my sword to make this a sneak attack
attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
damage: 2d10 + 23 + 5d6 ⇒ (7, 10) + 23 + (2, 3, 3, 4, 2) = 54+5 Bleed, 1 dex, and a debilitating attack injury
will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
will reroll: 1d20 + 6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 5 = 12
DM Amazing Red |
Chugan ends the mage's life and quickly falls asleep afterwards. Combat over!
As monks take away the trappings of the previous round and spellcasters get to work setting the fight stage for the next match, the Emissary rises and speaks loudly to the crowd. "This is a challenge for all remaining contestants! Slay the brine dragon known as Huyanwo who has ravaged Ridge of Graves for generations!"
Several of the remaining contestants look at one another to see if anyone else is taking the Emissary up on his challenge, but none react visibly in favor or against such a decision.
Pallas Morningstar |
Is there anyone to ask who this Huyanwo is? Can we make a knowledge check?
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas rubs his eyes and yawns as he wakes up. "Well, that was a relaxing nap. Good job to whoever ended up finishing that guy off."
He then picks himself and brushes the dust and dirt off his clothing before turning to Brachus. "Do you have anything that could help with the weakness we are still suffering from?"
Also need to know if this brine dragon is something we need to deal with today or not.
Brachus |
"Not that much..I didn't expect so many of us to suffer from a fate like this"
channel to heal the party: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 2, 3) = 16
I have one lesser restoration prepared, who would get the most use out of it?
Pallas Morningstar |
Pallas scratches his head. "I don't know, might be good to find out more about this dragon. We don't necessarily want to get in over our heads."
"Oh, Brachus, I almost forgot, I have a scroll with two castings of lesser restoration on it. But if we get a night to recuperate, they might not be needed."
Marisa Hayami |
kn arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Marisa Hayami |
"I've always wanted to fight a dragon. But doesn't seem like the kind of thing we should be doing here." V says.
"Why not? I wouldn't mind getting even more famous by killing a dragon."
