Yes I still have a Hotmail account. I know. Stop looking at me like that.

Great! I have everyone added for access. You should be able to access the map here.

Thank you everyone for not spoiling this. Its a great moment for Ulfak to shine. The last time I did this on the boards a barbarian charged in and slaughtered them out of hand. Ulfak owes you one. Each.

That's harsh! :)

Don't worry. There's still plenty of opportunities for someone to ruin a social interaction. ;P

Sounds like your previous game had a serious jerk in it. If it had been me, I'd have sided with the wolves against the Barbarian.

He left about a month later after another argument with the rest of us. Very volatile individual. Thankfully they are few and far between.

The Exchange

Just to forewarn everyone, I am effectively on holiday from Sunday for ten days. This is because I run a mini-con for a growing group of friends from the area next weekend - all in a local pub on the seafront, with food and drink on tap.
Aside from finishing maps for my 7 hour scenario, there are numerous last minute emails and this time it looks like one of my fellow DMs may have some serious real life issues. So I could be finishing another 4 hour adventure tout de suite! Hence my Pathfinder time will be devoted to that rather than being on the boards.
Afterwards it generally takes me a few days to recover and get the play-by-post bug again so look for me coming from the east by 14th March (this only happens twice a year by the way). Please NPC my character when necessary, I doubt I’ll have time to help with that or so my ever-so-patient wife has told me.

Cheers

Just and F.Y.I., I do most of my posting from work. I don't work on Thursday and Friday so I tend to use my days doing other stuff and pick back up on Saturdays. It's a strange schedule. Sorry if I worried you with the lack of posts.

The Exchange

Thanks donato. I was a little surprised at that. Makes sense now.

Cheers

I had the stomach flu!

:(

Will have a post up later. Sorry about delays.

The Exchange

Now have two infections and on second lot of antibiotics so I am a bit fuzzy for pbps yet.

Cheers

Ew. Hang in there.

I've also been really sick for the past week or so, thus the lack of posting. Sorry for my absence.

Contributor

Sorry if you guys were feeling lost. The pace should be picking up here very soon. ;)

Good to have you back Derrick.

So how do you guys want to handle combat? Shall we be more narrative? I can set up a "battle-mat" for us if you prefer. Also, for initiative, do you want to go individually, or would you prefer to go all together?

Male Tiefling Slayer 2 | HP 0/24 | AC 18, touch 14, FF 14; CMD 20 | Fort +7, Ref +8, Will +2 | Init +5, Perception +6 (darkvision 60 ft.)

I can work with narrative, as long as it's pretty free-form--less worries about exact positioning, cover, concealment, that sort of thing. But I'm cool with theater of the mind.

As for initiative, if we're going together it'd be nice to still get some bonuses. For example, my handy +10 to initiative is very helpful as a rogue, and I'm sure the rest of the party don't all have that bonus as well.

Half-orc Wolf Shaman 2, Init +2, AC 19/17, hits 17/25, F+5 R+3 W+5, Perception +8

Initiatives by block is my favourite.

You roll for us so that speeds up the first step. then its a case of highest initiatives, bad guy, lower initiatives. If there is only one bad guy it quickly becomes us then them.

As for map or no map, I can run with either but I prefer a decent map for flanking etc. If things are more fluid and narrative then Ulfak will be fine.

Cheers

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

I agree about block initiative.

Just roll for us, set up the order according to who acts before the badguys and who acts after.

I prefer a map because of the tactical stuff like where to put my AoE spells, but I can run with narrative style too as long as there's plenty of description and forgiving interpretation of things like tactical movement.

Maps don't need to be special. I've used google docs spreadsheets to satisfactory effect.

Hey, just a check-in to let people know that I'm going to be traveling for the next few days--I won't be home until Wednesday night, most likely (EDT). I'm hoping to have some access to the internet during my travels, but I may not, so bot me as needed, or find a reason for me to fall into the background for the time being as needed! Thanks.

Contributor

Ha! Didn't even have to give you the info. I guess it is one of the more well known stories.

Contributor

By the way, I'm still here. I'm kind of waiting for you guys to move on. Unless, would you prefer me to move you on my own?

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to go next. A little prodding as to our options would be helpful.

Contributor

Well, there is the new room that you just entered. There is one further room to explore. Otherwise, head back up and turn the sarcophagus some more. Who knows what you might find? ;)

Half-orc Wolf Shaman 2, Init +2, AC 19/17, hits 17/25, F+5 R+3 W+5, Perception +8

I am afraid that I know too much to actively choose directions for us. Once we get past the the first book, things get much more hazy and by the third.....I know nothing.

Ulfak may become more of a leader then. For now he follows which is fair enough for a wolf shaman in an underground tomb.

Male Tiefling Slayer 2 | HP 0/24 | AC 18, touch 14, FF 14; CMD 20 | Fort +7, Ref +8, Will +2 | Init +5, Perception +6 (darkvision 60 ft.)

Hey, just a check-in to let you know that I have some family visiting for Mother's Day, so I don't have much time to post. I might get some in at school, but I probably won't be able to post from home for a few days. Please bot me as needed! Thanks.

Contributor

Hey everybody, sorry for the slow going. I recently got a freelance gig to write a module and that has been taking up my time. I should be a bit more regular now that I have things mostly ready to go.

Female Human (Shoanti) Barbarian (totem warrior) 1 AC 17/11/16 / HP 6/14 / F +4 R +1 W +0 / Init. +1 / Perc. +3 / Sense Motive -1

Awesome, donato. You'll have to drop us the name of the module once it's wrapped up. I've been kinda of spacy last couple weeks myself cause of working to get some freelance pieces turned in.

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

Checking in. Busy weekend for me. NPC me as needed.

Male Tiefling Slayer 2 | HP 0/24 | AC 18, touch 14, FF 14; CMD 20 | Fort +7, Ref +8, Will +2 | Init +5, Perception +6 (darkvision 60 ft.)

Hey, everybody. I'm sorry for my absence. It was much longer than intended. I really only was going to be away for a few days as family visited. Then the hammer of life came crashing down--AP tests, school work as the year comes to a close, trying to find a summer job... Things piled up. As such, it's been two weeks since I even got on the forum.

That said, school is still in session for a couple weeks, and after that I'm planning to get a job in the summer. All that aside, the absence has made me realize how busy I am and made me think about my ability to keep everything together. As such, I'm trying to get my affairs in order and make sure I'm only trying to do what I can do. I'd hate to bog other people down with substandard playing, and that means cutting some losses.

I'm sorry to have to say it, but I need to drop out of this game, everyone. I've had a lot of fun playing in it--Derrick's an interesting character to try and capture, and donato, your work here is awesome!--and I wish everybody the best, but I've realized that I'm trying to do too much. I hope to get a chance to play with you all in the future, when I'm more able to participate in PbP games like this.

Best of luck to you all, and happy gaming!

I am tempted to try to make you change your mind LB. Vedic is a cracking character and maybe you should give it another think? But then I am sure you have done this already with such a good game.

Nevertheless I hope your job, school, and home life settle down and be lucky.

Cheers

Vedic is still in, he was talking about Derrick.

Half-orc Wolf Shaman 2, Init +2, AC 19/17, hits 17/25, F+5 R+3 W+5, Perception +8

Apologies, I meant Derrick, and everything I said applies to both of them.

Ultimately we need a trapsmith for this dungeon. It could be a tomb of horrors otherwise.

Cheers

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

Looks like we're going to need a replacement trapspringer.

Here's a few options:

1) Someone could swap out a trait for any of the ones that grant Disable Device as a class skill (Gold Finger or Vagabond Child), and then reallocate a skill point over to Disable Device. (Valsaya seems most appropriate to me, but anyone could)

2) We could ask friends to come make a character with Disable Device (I know two guys who'd probably be interested)

3) We could put up a thread on the recruitment boards.

Contributor

Ah, Derrick, sorry to see you go. I'll make sure to bot you through the final battle well.

Also, everyone I feel terrible to have to again apoligize for not showing my face for a while. My deadline for my freelance work has recently shifted to an unfortunate closer date, so I've found myself scrambling to get things done in half the time. This is actually the first I've been able to read posts in a few days. I'll be having a post up tonight after work.

Apologies yet again. :(

No worries Donato. Also, I'm open to trying to fill the trapfinder archetype, although it would not be ideal, with armor penalties and stuff.

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

We'll just have to get you some high-protection, low ACP armor. Inquisitors aren't usually heavy armor characters, right? Mithril chain or breastplate would probably work. If we get a good treasure haul we could probably pitch in and afford it by 3rd level.

Or we could just houserule that skills that ACP makes no sense for (Disable Device and Ride primarily) aren't effected by it.

Half-orc Wolf Shaman 2, Init +2, AC 19/17, hits 17/25, F+5 R+3 W+5, Perception +8

We need a fourth. This dungeon is not easy, and I would much rather get someone else in to do this.

donato, I have no problem with you being busy and apologising shows you care. But could you do us a favour and try to send out a quick warning? This is a long game which will take us years and being up front about these issues will keep everyone sweet far longer. I promise to do the same.

I think someone else with DD is a good call for Valsaya.

Cheers

The Exchange

Apologies if I came across a bit short with that last post. The number of times that DMs and players have just dropped out without a word has tainted my belief in human nature.

To put it another way, Whispering Cairn has been brutal and four characters seem like the bare minimum when one PC falling would otherwise leave only two to deal with things like a beetle and a swarm.

GM decision is final though.

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

Four is what we have right now, and if Valsaya takes Disable Device that means all the necessary party roles are covered. Since she can Detect Magic that means she can even deal with Magic traps (trapfinding's primary bonus is the ability to detect magical traps with Perception instead of detect magic, but she doesn't have to worry about that)

I wouldn't mind having a reliable 5th party member, but I think we will be fine with the current group if we play things safe and smart.

Half-orc Wolf Shaman 2, Init +2, AC 19/17, hits 17/25, F+5 R+3 W+5, Perception +8

Doh! Four is good for me, even if I can not count more than three.

Cheers

HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9

One... two.... um... many.... lots.

Contributor

Ulfak, I understand your concerns. It has happened to be an almost perfect storm for me. Luckily, things are caught up and I'm back to a proper schedule. Once again, apologies. I'll do my best to update you all more promptly next time. Post up! :)

Are we waiting on something in particular?
