Just a quick note: if you guys have special abilities (such as Landon's step up feat, or Belgrin's saving shield), please, make sure to remind me so we can get them in play. I know I'm supposed to be largely an impartial referee, but I really love it when you guys do something heroic, saving a friend, smiting a bad guy - I think it's awesome. I want to make sure you guys are using your abilities to the utmost.

Yeah, I just honestly didn't remember to make use of that feat. Long as someone's around Belgrin, the first blow of the round will be less likely to hit them.
If this was 1st edition, that STR damage would be permanent and Gygax would be LAUGHING. Also, you'd have to walk uphill in a rainstorm without shoes just to get to the game in the first place - no fancy PbP for you!
Did anyone play the boardgame called "Dungeon"? It was my first real intro to DnD. It was simple and basic, but man oh man, it was fun! I think a revised and updated version came out but it looked too slick and professional - I loved how raw that old set was, how amazing it was to start a game.... *sighs*
I was too young to remember the whole anti-DnD scare of the early 80's, but my parents never let me own any DnD stuff when I was young because of it. But old 1st edition rulebooks (from the library!) were my first real intro to the game, other than the Dungeon! boardgame. Hooked ever since, even in the forces there were tons of roleplayers (tons of rifts guys, coincidentally!)
I played 2nd Ed starting at eight years old. Since it was so near and dear to my heart in my formative years, the WotC buyout really hit me hard. I was going to boycott 3rd Ed, but eventually I picked it up, followed by 3.5, and grew to enjoy them. I coerced my group into trying 4th for a little while, but it really isn't an RPG so much as a board game. You really have to work to fit in any RP, and it just wasn't worth it. So when a friend turned me onto Pathfinder, it was like having an old friend back who's changed for the better over the years.
Yeah, PF really hits all the right notes for me, crunchwise at least. I have little use for Golarion, generally speaking, as I already have a big, sprawling campaign setting at my disposal. But the rules are great!

I didn't get introduced to D&D till high school, when 3rd ed was coming up. the first RP game I ever actually played though, was a lesser known product called Talislanta. You thought PF had an eclectic mix of races and classes? PFFT. That game was nuts. gold coins? PFFFT, we had gold pentacles! Core races? HAH! there were like 30! And classes? Well, they were sorta there, if memory serves, but it was...different. Long time ago now, memory not distinct.
Need to find a PDF or something...suddenly want to read the rulebook again.

LOL, ninjaed! Oh well.
I was introduced to AD&D 2e when it came out by my math teacher in the 7th grade. He was pretty awesome, and I loved the various settings, but FR most of all. At first I was resistant to making the move to 3.x, but I've come to be really fond of it, so PF was right up my alley.
I was going to say you could get to D1, but I imagine you can only move 20ft Matthias.
Personally, I was introduced to D&D via Baldur's Gate. I then ended up playing a load of Neverwinter Nights on various persistent worlds, but only ended up playing around a table when Pathfinder came out.
I know it's Knowledge(Nature) for Monstrous Humanoids, but would Arcana let me know anything about covens? Like, specifically that there're always three members? And one could be a witch of any race.
Note: I'll be up at the cottage from tonight (after 4 or so pm EST) to Sunday afternoon. There's no internet up there so I'll likely be incommunicado for that period. If I'm lucky, I'll have some cell reception, so I might try to at least keep up with things (posting ain't easy on the phone, so no guarantees of that) in the interim.

I've managed to get really sick (and with an oral exam coming up in about a week, too). I'll post if I can, but if I'm holding things up, please bot me, DM.
Lets figure out a proper watch order going forward. Post your perception scores and any special vision abilities you've got that would assist.
Also, DM Locke, how long is darkness around this time of year? That might give us an idea as to how long our camping should last. I'm thinking about ten hours.
Tethyr is generally considered to have a climate similar to that of southwestern Spain in continental Europe; that is to say, mild, wet winters and warm, relatively dry summers. The moderating effects of the Starspire mountains do keep the northern reaches of the nation notably cooler and wetter than the south, which becomes increasingly arid as one moves south into Calimshan.
In terms of daylight, you're currently nearing the end of the month of Tarsakh, which corresponds to April on our calendar; sunrise at this time of year is at around 0700, and sunset at 2030.

Sorry, on day 7 of 13 days straight, ugh 11 hour days suck
Yeah all spell casters do, including inquisitors. The other option is to make each watch four hours allowing the spell caster to split between the first and last watch. It'll give everyone a full eight hours as well. Or have the spell casters sleep cycle. half sleep tight away and get woken up after eight hours while the other half take watch until theirs only eight hours left, meaning they may have shorter watches than non casters
Also can we include Belina and Marius?
Perception +7, detect alignment and detect undead at will if you count those

Tomorrow is my dad's 85th birthday, so I won't be able to post until late in the evening after the party.
Once Matthias hears the combat, he'll get to his feet in a hurry, grab his weapons and run to help even without his armor. I assume that will take at least one whole turn. Feel free to DMPC Matthias if combat moves beyond that before tomorrow evening.
