EVERYONE As you grab hold of an item from the chest a vision appears before you,in unison the adventures raise the items in your own and say "When time of great danger arise once again let our blood find you and answer the call. Answer the call then they all prick one finger and drop a drop of blood lands on each item. As you ask the question to the psycrastal #3.
Engineer #3 |
Engineer locates a convenient circulatory vessel and eeks a drop of dark, thick fluid onto the crystal housing of the gauntlet battlefist?.
"Very interesting. A psicrystal I have no memory of, and no known connection to. I wonder what else lies in my past of which I do not recollect."
Daxur |
Plucking the glowing crystal from the air, Daxur's eyes widen at the vision that comes to him. Glancing over at #3, Daxur nods "All of our pasts, I believe, in someway or another".
With a wide grin, full of eagerness at the discovery of new secrets, Daxur pierces his thumb with a dagger and allows a small drop of his green, goblin blood to strike top of the crystal in his other hand.
Engineer #3 |
"In a manner of speaking. I experienced a visual hallucination, followed by telepathic communion with a mind located within this, " Engineer raises his now massively oversized right hand, studded with crystalline spikes. "I believe those hallucinatory adventurers have some connection to our own party, though how that is I have yet to parse."
Beauregard Jorasco |
"I suppose an admonition regarding the riskiness inherent in making untried use of relics of uncertain provenance would fall upon deaf ears?.." Beauregard interjects deceptively mildly, as he examines the seemingly bejeweled headband before carefully placing it within his pack.
Engineer #3 |
"Well, are we able to continue on our search for the missing children? My close-combat abilities have improved, and I retain a sizable portion of my psionic power yet today. I also have several more power stones of defensive and transformative abilities fully charged."
Beauregard Jorasco |
Nodding at Engineer #3's words. "As my previous concerns have now been replaced with new concerns...
neither of which are likely to be sufficiently answered so long as we are down here."
"Yes, let us focus on retrieving the Children."
Engineer #3 |
"With Daxur and myself keeping detailed notes on our experiences, I would hazard that our observational journals should suffice to alleviate your concerns once our primary objective has been completed. As to the new items we just acquired, my personality has come under no assault, nor do I feel any compulsion or obsession. Only time will tell if further contact will change such conditions, of course."
While talking with Beauregard, Engineer reseats all his equipment and checks everything to ensure it is in the proper place and in working order. Once satisfied, he shoulders his pack and indicates his readiness to travel with a curt nod.
"Should anyone desire this club, please take it. It is of limited utility to me now."
Zevon Rembrandt |
"Well, Beau, it seems we are all connected to these people who fought some great evil in the past and since the vision implies we will follow in their footsteps, I think before this is over you will have plenty of concerns to choose from!"
Zevon continues: "However, first things first - the children! I'm ready to continue; I need some practice with my new mace anyway!"
Beauregard Jorasco |
Pretty sure that is supposed to be Lumen, large-sized.
"Well," Beauregard says, wrinkling his nose at the still-overpowering abbatoir odor of the room. "I should see if there is any other egress from this chamber, shouldn't I?" As he proceeds to thoroughly check the surrounding walls.

Beauregard Jorasco |
"The bad news is there is no further way from here...
The good news is the hall we just left had another egress hidden further down & we won't have to worry about anything sneaking up on us from here." Beauregard opines as he makes his way, rapidly, out of the odious chamber & down the oddly shaped alcove at the end of the hallway.
Beauregard Jorasco |
Ah! Thank you.
Am I correct in guessing the yellow dots in the corners are torches?
Motioning for Engineer #3 to be prepared, Beauregard carefully opens the door to the chamber.
untrained Move Silently: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4, to prevent the opening door making a sound.
Channels Elan: 'I rolled a ONE!'

EVERYONE The ceiling in this chamber rises to an apex thrity feet overhead. Great pairs of iron doors are set into opposite-facing walls, only the north-west doorsare sealed with a heavy iron door. Each corner of the room holds a two foot tall stone brazier carved in the likeness of an ovoid creature with three stubby legs three eyes and three spindly arms spaced equidistantly around its pebbly body. Smoke issues from a gaping mouth atop the creature's "head". A dark pungent haze fills the room. A nine-foot-tall gray stone statue of a dwarven warrior stands before the southern set of iron doors, facing northeast. The dwarf stares blankly forward, two glistening black gems embedded in his eyes, a spiked helmet resting atop his formidable brow. His armor bearsz graven glyphs and a shield is slung over his back. His stony gauntlets rest on the handle of a stone greataxe etched with fiery patterns. The head of the weapon is planted firnly in the floor. draped of the statue is mass of iron chains ending in nasty barbs, spikes, hooks and blades. Some ofthem are coiled around the statue's arms and legs to keep themfrom sliding off.
Zevon Rembrandt |
Zevon joins Beauregard and #3, his flail ready, and looks in the room.
"I hope this statue won't animate like the other one. Looking at the chains it seems we're getting closer to the slavers."
Are there special markings on the doors? Do we recognize the statue (knowledge (local) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12)
Zevon Rembrandt |
Zevon follows #3 and Lumen and cautiously moves into the room, towards the nearest door, his new mace ready for any sign of trouble end move @ B7.
is there a locking mechanism visible? Is there anything to hear outside the SE door - listen 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
