Concluding there is little more to be gained at this locale, Beauregard thanks the Chatelaine of the Orphanage & turns to leave. Seeing the 'interactions' transpiring in the chamber he makes his way for the door. As he passes the others, "Time & place, friends. Time & place."
untrained Spot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Spellcraft or Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 ⇒ 16 (+6 if Spellcraft, +9 if Knowledge (arcana)), to recognize the significance (if any) to the placement or interactions of the sigils.

"Fascinating. Have you always had these markings?"

Engineer continues to sketch out the markings as he sees them.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Spot

Zevon:
you see Korihor's left arm has a metallic sheen

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

After Beauregard is finished with the Chatelaine, Daxur asks "I see that your locks are made by Keygan Ghelve. Where might we find his place of business?"

First off Korihor has a spot check thats needs attention too DC is on one of her posts, meet or beat Dc check with me

Zevon Rembrandt wrote:

"about the second ambush: I thought this might be a distraction as well and I already did a quick check but everything seems ok in the orphanage. A more thorough head count may be useful though. Perhaps the thugs were following us & noticed #3 alone on guard?"

Zevon turns to the staff
"Ms. Fanister, could you show me the room of the kids that have been taken? I also like to talk to some of the children if that is ok with you"

the layout of the orphanage is not completely clear to me: do the kids have separate rooms or do they sleep in one large room?

Before leaving the room with the nurse, Zevon takes a few biscuits with him.

the layout is boys have a seperate room from the girls

Korihor:
no your does not feel any differnt but with your left arm you gain a temperary +2 on your strenth modifor as long as Vile is in your body

Beaurgard:
you see the tree tattoo that resembles what appears to you as a spell book. What really catches your eye is from Korihor's profile stance reveals the other tattoo she hides with the scarf, what looks like the Dragon mark of storm, but the color is grayish. her skin around the mark is crimson red

#3 your so into sketching Korihor's arm and back tattoo thats all your attention is on

Daxur: Gretchen replies His shop is on Lava Ave. on the other side of the lake

Female Duskblade 4

Spot1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

Daxur bows to Gretchen ,say "You help is most appreciated, Chatelaine." then walks over and joins the others.

Lumen:
you notice a dragon mark on Korihor's strenum under the scarf you see it a grayish color her skin a crimson red around the edges of the mark

Daxur as you walk back in the other room Korihor is half naked as the others look upon her a couple of you friends stare at a mark that Korihor is hidding under the scarf, but a few edges of that mark show

"Sorry, Beauregard." Korihor blushes, realizing her actions. "I've never been terribly shy. 'Impertinent', my mum called me." She thinks for a moment before responding to Three. "It's been...growing...for almost eight years. No -" she looks up, thinking. "Nine years, now."

Female Duskblade 4

Lumen let out a low whistle as she took in Korihor's display.

"Well that's.....impressive." she says with a slight grin. [/b] You're like a living spellbook. And I though my tattoos were fun to look at."[/b]

Her eyes narrow slightly as she studies the oddly variant mark of making, her hand unconsciously tracing her fingers across her own abberrant dragonmark across her taut stomach

Lumen:
you notice one thing as you trace your mark, yours looks more like the normal Dragon marks of the houses in color. Korihor's looks more menacing.

Halfling Rogue 3/Sorcerer 1 30/39 HP, AC 16/t14/ff14, F 4, R 6, W 6, Init +3, Listen +10, Spot +3

Lumen & Shadowwalker:
Lumen's Aberrant Mark is visible? Or is it under clothing? I ask because I have been assuming the other party members are unaware she has an Aberrant Mark. Also, Aberrant Marks (according to cannon) are distinctly different from Dragonmarks. If that is not the case in your game Shadowwalker, please let me know because that will affect how Beauregard responds to things.

Shadowwalker:
Can Beauregard tell it is a tatoo, not a Dragonmark? Spellcraft or Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 ⇒ 19 + 6 or + 9 (Spellcraft or Knowledge (arcana))

Pondering the implications of what he has just seen, Beauregard continues out the door, making his way to the entryway of the Orphanage. At the Orphanage steps he looks about himself, orienting to the street & the surrounding city.
Daxur mentioned Kaygan Ghelve. Now where is his workshop again?
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8, less negative modifiers for not having ranks in Knowledge (local) for this locale.

"What other skills does your mark allow you to utilize, Korihor?"

Engineer takes precise notes alongside his sketches, while keeping half an eye on the front door & windows.

"Are the rest of the children and staff accounted for?" he asks the group in general.

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

Seeing Korihor showing the others her sorcerous markings makes him sigh with relief, hiding things from his new friends wasn't what he wanted to be doing. Walking up to stand beside Lumen , he exclaims "Your arms, Korihor...is that due to you absorbing Vile?"

male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)

spot 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

this doesn't beat Korihor's DC15

"It doesn't necessarilly allow me to utilize anything. At least as far as I know." she sighs. "It is just sort off...there." she lifts her silver arm, flixing it. "This...this is new. I've never had something like this happen."

male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)

"All this magic stuff goes way over my head. You absorbed Vile? How? Why? I didn't know that was even possible! Are you sure this absorbing thing is safe to do? I mean, now it is only your arm - and I hope it is reversible - but what if next time it is your mind?

Calming down a bit, Zevon continues
"anyway, I can't be of much help here - this is something for the people in the magic business. I'll go and check the children's rooms a last time and then we can check out the locksmith"

Female Duskblade 4

Beaureguard & Shadowwalker:
Yes it is meant to be visible, although I said stomach when I meant to type hip. She doesn't try to hide it. On a side note I plan to take more dragonmark feats if we get that far, so it will expand, though more slowly than Korihor'. I envision it as something like This but pulsing a dim red light when she uses its power.

Beaurgard:
Aberrant dragon marks look similar to the house marks except for color and texture ,Korihors is differnt in color and looks like it is weaved into her skin and looks much like a tattoo and the locksmith shop is somewhere on Lava ave.

Zevon: you do the walk round again and find alls well and the childern are fine

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

Scratching his head and closely examining Korihor's arm , Daxur says "The locks on the doors were all made by the same man, Kaygan Ghelve, who has a shop over on Lava st. I think we should visit the craftsman, perhaps he's had a break-in lately, missing some master keys perhaps? "

Lumen:
I like that about your mark when you use it describe the effect when in use that way everyone knows, also glad your advancing it too

"It's likely someone stole the keys from him, or copied them." She looks at Three to see if he and Lumen and Daxur are done viewing her. "His names Ghelve?"

"Thank you, Korihor. I believe this should suffice."

Engineer carefully stows his sketching materials.

"Is there anything further to be gleaned from this establishment?"

Female Duskblade 4

"Not that I can think of, though we need to be paying this Ghelve a visit.

"Agreed. If he is the one providing means of ingress and egress for the Last Laugh, he is certainly the key to this matter."

Engineer stops for a second, as if just realizing what he said there.

"Hm. A 'pun'. I see the draw for humorous speech now. Although that was not very humorous in an objective sense. This will merit further study."

Korihor smiles. "There is a draw, yes." she chuckles. "Three, you make me want to adopt you."

"Under current legal status, that would be permissible in Sharn, as well as through Breland and the majority of Khorvaire. I doubt the rights of inheritance and familial line would transcend the multi-racial structure established by such a junction."

"If there is precedent for such legal structures, I am not opposed to the notion. A strong family bond serves to increase functionality and efficiency among a unit such as the one established here."

male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)

When Zevon is (upstairs) checking on the children:
- he looks into the rooms where the children were taken, mainly to see if anything else matches the clues (in particular: are there curtains? is anything behind them?
- when he is alone with some of the children, he gives them some cookies: "I am here to help find your friends. You can help me by telling me if you saw something the night they disappeared."
"also - during the days before they are gone: did any of you notice strange people talking to your friends when you are outside to play?"

Afterwards, Zevon says goodbye to the staff, thanks them for their cooperation & joins his companions to go to the locksmith.

Female Duskblade 4

A chuckle escapes Lumen as she listens to the exchange between Korihor and Three.

Skellrang knew what he was doing when he put this group together.

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

Looking from Korihor to #3 to Lumen, Daxur smiles. You'll like this one #3

"Family matters aside, lets make our way to Lava st, I think we have a chance to unlock some answers" He beams, then frowns as he realizes that his joke wasn't much better than #3's.

"A good pun, Daxur. I am still unsure of their comedic value, though."

Korihor stifles a snort, her hand over her mouth. "Oh you two." she beams, pulling her shirt over her head.

Zevon you see curtains as you check nothing is behind them. One boy says to you I had a dream that a toothless gnome with a tattered black clock watching me the other childern tell you that nothing strangev has happened and noone has talked with them alone

What are yall doing now?

Beauregard is debating waiting on the others or just heading off to Ghelve's on his own. It seems likely that the others will come out before he heads out on his own, but still not sure.

As he stands at the steps of the Orphanage, Beauregard debates the various routes to be taken. Determining any profound benefits or hindrances to any of them. Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14, less negative modifiers for unfamiliarity with present locale. Basically, he wants to avoid routes that are likely to have ambush sites or just bad neighborhoods.

Korihor stands, and walks to the front door. "A bit light-headed." she mumbles to herself. "What do you say we get on over to this Ghelve's place, Beauregard?"

Female Duskblade 4

Lumen strides over to the door, nodding to the staff on the way out.

male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)

"I'm ready to go as well. One more thing, though: what do we do with the captured thugs? Just leave them here & alert the Captain?"

"Oh right." Korihor sighs, looking back in the building. "I'll take them. Someone come with me. We'll meet you at Ghelve's in an hour."

You know closer to the lake you are the rougher the neighborhood and Lava ave. is a tough one. your thoughts lead you to move up a couple of to the medium class levels the come back down or pay someone to ferry you across the lake

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

"I don't think so, Korihor. One of us alone is easy picking, no offense, for the Laughers. We take the thugs in together, then we go the Ghelve's" Daxur says, and from the look on his face, he means business.

Halfling Rogue 3/Sorcerer 1 30/39 HP, AC 16/t14/ff14, F 4, R 6, W 6, Init +3, Listen +10, Spot +3

"I concur with Daxur." Though Beauregard's expression is more distracted than resolute.
If I recall correctly, the nearest watch house is up two blocks & over...
"Besides, the watch house is on our way, effectively."

Korihor growls in her throat. "We're going to spend the rest of our lives ferrying these damn idiots to a guard that is immediately releasing them, and never actually resolving anything." She stomps down the front stairs, calling back "I've a mind to lay siege to the guard house itself, removing the virus from within! If the body looses an arm, but lives, so be it. Bring those infernal prisoners!"
