"Mounts that will not be scorned by the Kargzant? I have my doubts.
"In that case, Pirot, I'm sure some of us could benefit from some work on our equipment -- though Arianwyn may consider himself well-equipped. This armor was good against duergar -- I am not so certain about riders who talk to their gods."
Any equipment upgrades would be nice, still running around in +1 armor

Vel, I would like to get a better figurine of power - would I be able to get the following - using my current figurine as residium?
Ironwood Hound
This wooden statuette depicts a hunting hound dashing toward its prey.
Level: 10
Price: 5,000 gp
Wondrous Item
Power (Daily • Conjuration): Standard Action. Use this figurine to conjure a yellow-furred hunting hound (see below for statistics). As a free action, you can spend a healing surge when activating this item to give the creature temporary hit points equal to your healing surge value.

Arianwyn
As Vel can't do it, leave it with me and I'll arrange some suitably story-driven reason for Urho to grow in power.

Of course, silly of me. Apologies!

Kia Rubarka |

Kia considers her brooch. "It would be a good thing if this could be enhanced to give me more protection, but, if you cannot do that, there is something else I would like..."
A +2 Brooch of No Regrets is level 8, so may be too high for now. If that is so, then, can she go for the Vistani Eye Amulet +2?

Rev DM |

Reason?
Pirot unrolls a map and points out some of the salient features to you.
"The Kargzant are not great believers in maps. They are written things and untrustworthy, but you may find this helpful.
Each year, the Kargzant follow a similar path. The tribes pass from the warm lands to the cold in the summer, when the midges arrive. Then in the winter they return. Each tribe follows their own route, using passes known only to them through the Angyar Tomachek (Fang Mountains.
You are seeking the place of the dead, where the Bone Riders live. They do not migrate, but tend the dead and patrol the forest all year. Kuyo Tun is your desination."
Questions, requests and whatnot?

Namarth is to the southwest. Your nearest recognisable entry point is Kurstifars Balaga ("Town without good grazing" and consequently despised by the true Kargzant, although they acknowledge its value as a trading post). It's a good three week ride away. If you wanted to sail, your best bet would be to return to Riggarth (five days ride away) and see if you can get Captain Bifrost or one of his friends to give you passage. It's much the same either way. Land journey of four days plus 2 week sail or land journey of 3 weeks.

Vel |

All: Vel's going to indulge in some potion- and item-making before we go. Anything (not alchemical) you can pay for, up to level 7, she'll make for you. It doesn't save any money, but it's guaranteed you can get it! Also, her +2 Resilience Amulet is for sale for 680gp; she will consider an IOU for part of it to keep it in the party. There are also some party-benefit wondrous items we should consider, if people will chip in. Suggestions:
Battle Standard of Might (840gp)
Chime of Awakening (840)
Instant Campsite (1000)
Rev:
Potion of Healing
Elixir of (Fire, of course) Dragonbreath
Total cost: 990gp materials.
Updating character sheet now.

Overland. Have fallen over and hurt my right arm. Not sure if it's just jarred or not. Typing is slowwwww.....l
Hmm. Sounds like your festivities were as unfestive as ours are turning out to be. Get it looked at.
Vel spends an instructive, if uncomfortable, few hours with Weltmann as he irascibly shows her how to disenchant an item.
"Fingers, woman. Use them. They're arcane implements, not pieces of string. Precision."
Anyone want or need anything else? Speak now or forget it :)

"Well, if everyone is buying warhorses, I shall buy one too. Besides, I wouldn't want to take Selmer anywhere she might not be appreciated."
Kis is buying a war horse and a Mirrored Caparison if she can because she cares for her horses.
I'm also going to swap my level 5 daily if I may, because, with never more than one melee-based ally standing, it seems a little pointless.

** spoiler omitted **
Are you chipping in to the campsite? That would be four, bringing the cost to 250 each. I imagine Reason will want to take advantage, too, when he checks in, making it 200.

If I don't buy any potions, I can chip in for the campsite. Putting 200gp in, but can pay the extra 50 if it is required.

The group spend the next days in preparation for their venture into the wild lands of the Kargzant. Seraphiel, still grim from his discoveries in the Library, takes his leave.
"I must find out what evil I unleashed in my earlier life. That may be the purpose of my current existence. There is a pattern in these things, always."
For Gobi, the parting is a far happier one. Promising faithfully to rejoin his comrades, he is spending some time with Roswitha to her huge and evident delight. Blushing furiously, he explains a little about dwarven courtship.
"She's going to introduce me to her parents and that means I have to bring a gift showing how much I value her. I was going to give her the parts of the big ring I found. Magister Weltmann says they're priceless and that's how I feel. But then I thought that broken bits might not look quite right, so I'll have to think again. Vel had better take them and look after them for now," he burbles happily.
"I have to convince her parents that I'm serious and worthy as a suitor before they'll even think of accepting me, so you see..." His voice trails off in an unspoken apology at his desertion of his old friends.
For Whiteclaw, there is the comfort of another note from Hroaldr confirming that her dragon egg is still doing well,
..."although I think it would be a good idea for you to return for the hatching. Still a few months away, we think, but don't leave it too long. The lads and I at the Lodge will do our best, but we're not the ones chosen to raise this dragon. Give my good wishes to Pirot, if you managed to find him."
For Arianwyn, there is a bittersweet parting with Narissa.
An evening spent in song and reminiscence ends on an odd note, as she breaks suddenly from his embrace.
"I hope that we shall meet again, dear love, but I sense you will be singing for my bones when the time to do so comes."
Then she laughs and pulls him close once more. "The better reason that our time should be well spent."

I've heard from Reason and he'll be rejoining us in the New Year. Do any last wrapping up you feel the need for and I will formally close this chapter.
As always, thank you for staying with this. It's a pleasure to have watched these characters evolve from their beginnings back nearly 18 months ago and over about 5,000 posts. It's a privilege to play with you all. Long may it continue.
