For all his speed and skill, the newts are distracting enough to land a blow as the warlock blisters past them.
Newts OA on Arianwyn (1d20 9=28, 1d6 3=4). 4hp damage to Arianwyn, 3 ongoing
The maggots advance inexorably. Not even Reason's divine light can deter their dreadful hunger.
Consecrated ground damage (1d6 3=8)
This time Seraphiel and Kia are their targets. Kia flinches as the larvae swarm over her, eating deep into her flesh. Seraphiel manages to duck aside.
Maggots 2 v Kia (1d20 12=25, 1d8 5=12). 12hp damage to Kia, 5 ongoing necrotic.
Maggots 3 v Seraphiel (1d20 12=17, 1d8 5=12)
Even as she tries to react, both swarms strike again. Only M2 hits, but the warlord can only flinch at the power of the attack.
Maggots 2 v Kia (1d20 12=32, 1d8 5=6). Kia starts her turn in the aura of both M2 and M3. That's a crit from M2, delivering a further 13hp damage to Kia. 25hp damage total this turn. 5 ongoing.
Maggots 3 v Kia (1d20 12=17, 1d8 5=6)

Kia is bloodied
Thouroughly revolted by the maggots, Kia lashes out at the nearest pile.
Hitting the maggots (1d20+9=22, 2d8+3=10)
If that hits, Vel gets a +4 bonus to attack rolls until the end of Kia's next turn.
"Now just go away!"
Shifts to I13 (behind Seraphiel) and pulls herself together with an inspiring word - with an extra 1d6=5+3 HP and is no longer bloodied.

Rev DM |

Repulsed though she is, Kia lands a substantial hit and by her example, increases Vel's chances of hitting the swarm. Shuddering slightly, she retreats behind Seraphiel's angelic form, still suffering from the festering wounds.
The newts flicker and dazzle the already dazed gnoll before launching another snipping attack on her.

Gobi smites mightily at the newts, defying them to befuddle him and shoving them backwards along the edge of the bathing pool.
The maggots swarm around Vel's feet, horribly eager to feed.
Aura attack on Vel (Ref) on hit, target takes 5 ongoing necrotic (se) (1d20 12=31, 1d8 5=7). Hits. No damage due to Vel's resistance. No ongoing either as I think the attack has to do something to be effective.

Vel steps back once more (F13), grateful for her armor's enchantment, and evokes another scorching burst on the maggots, incinerating several from the third swarm.
Scorching Burst vs Ref M2, M3 (1d20+8+4=15, 1d20+8+1=23, 1d6+6=8)

Rev DM |

Vel's flames are effective enough to bloody the third swarm and the distraction causes both swarms to miss the deva as he readies himself to attack.

Shift to K1, minor to sustain Consecrated Ground, Lance of Faith vs M3 Ref (1d20+8=13, 1d8+5=7)

Rev DM |

My fault this. I forgot to roll M3's aura attack on Reason at the start of his turn.
Reason flinches back at the maggots lurch over his feet, delivering the now familiar array of festering wounds.
Maggot 3 Aura (Ref) v Reason - 5 ongoing necrotic on hit (se) (1d20 12=17, 1d8 5=8). Hits. 8hp damage to Reason, 5 ongoing (se).

Pick up book - Minor. Double run - 2 Moves to L3 (16 squares) Skirting the lower pool. I am on 9 HP, folks.
Arianwyn thinks, Enough of this! and grabs the book. He makes a dash for it, still with sword drawn, the book clutched under the other arm.
Thank Corellon, I rolled a 16 for my save.

Rev DM |

As Arianwyn grabs the book and flings himself back across the room, the maggots squirm again, visibly diminished by Reason's divinely charged light.
Consecrated ground damage (1d6 3=5). With the vulnerability to area attacks, they take 10hp damage.
Driven only by their need to feed, they nonetheless surge onwards, drawn towards the alluringly warm bodies in front of them. Kia is the target of swarm two, but the creatures are enfeebled and she ducks aside in disgust.

Feeling only slightly better at being able to vent her revulsion, Kia shifts away to J12.

Rev DM |

Kia flattens a few more of the vermin as she backs towards to the door to the street. The party are finally getting the upper hand on the Kyleth's repulsive practical joke.

Shift to F5, then Thorn Strike: 1d20+9 vs AC=12. Miss.
She then shifts her form, this time becoming a snow white hyena and races to aid Reason.
Minor action, shift to hyena form. Spend Kyleth AP. Charge to I2, using Pounce on M3. 1d20+7 vs Reflex=9. Miss! Mark both Maggot swarms.

Rev DM |

The newts spin and dazzle more frantically as Whiteclaw darts away from them in hyena form, seemingly reluctant to leave the baths.
Whiteclaw - is swarm N1 still marked by you or did you change it?
Lure of the wild recharge (6) (1d6=1, 1d6=4). No recharge.

Friends, Rad here, just to inform all of you that I'll be very busy this weekend until Wednesday next week.

Rev DM |

Thanks for letting us know Rad. I'll run Seraphiel for you until you can get back to regular posting.
Seraphiel sends the sun's glory against the maggots, frying a few more of them and pulling them inexorably after him while quelling the pain their festering wounds are causing him.

He then pauses to catch his breath.Second Wind. +2 to defense. Still Bloodied.

Rev DM |

Reason moves his healing circle to enclose himself and Whiteclaw and hopes that the maggots will not survive the divine power of his goddess. Renewed faith in her power allows him to cast off the festering sores and he brushes away the clinging vermin.

Arianwyn grits his teeth and tries to ease his way past the maggots. He is unlucky. The rapidly frying swarm manages one last hit ... Understanding only too well that he has to get clear, the eladrin keeps moving, trying to put distance between himself and the larvae.
OA v Arianwyn (1d20 10=24, 1d8 5=6). 6hp damage to Arianwyn. 5 ongoing. You'll be prone and dying at the start of your next turn.. Manually amended as they should have been attacking at -2 due to Whiteclaw's mark.
The exhausted swarm cannot fend off the divine light any longer and collapses. M2 is dead.
The remaining maggots lunge at Seraphiel, and miss.

I can. Since it's not adjacent, I can't do damage, but I can use Warden's Grasp to slide it. Automatic effect, no to hit roll needed. I can slide it one square, and that also slows it and keeps it from shifting until the end of it's turn. And I will slide it to J13, which will let me set up a flank on it next turn, and get my Pack Attack bonus should I hit.

Rolling on Kia's behalf as she's away for most of today.
As she moves to attack them, the maggots strike again. Desperation makes them bold and further suppurating wounds mar her beauty.
My fault, maggots should have had an aura attack on Kia at the start of her turn.
Maggots 3 aura attack v Kia (1d20+12=31, 1d8+5=7). 7hp damage to Kia. Already taking 5 ongoing necrotic.
Gritting her teeth, she wields her longsword, applying the flat of the blade to the crawling mass. Squashed vermin roil away from her blow and the swarm cannot possibly take much more.
Inspiring War Cry. On hit, ally within 5 squares who can see and hear gets a saving throw. (1d20+9=22, 2d8+3=11). Kia hits. Arianwyn gets an immediate save.
For all her courage, she cannot fend off the pain of the wounds, but her example and her help is enough to keep Arianwyn from unconsciousness. Grimacing, she shifts away from the swarm.

Effortlessly, Whiteclaw shifts from hyena to gnoll and swings her axe at the maggots.
Free shift when I change back to humanoid form moves me to I14. Strength of Stone. 1d20+11 vs AC = 14. Lol, my last three attack rolls have been 2, 3, 3. I'm betting a miss, there, so I remark it.

Rev DM |

Whiteclaw smites unavailingly at the maggots, finding her gnoll form no more effective than her hyena shape. Meanwhile, back among the pillars, Gobi finds himself the centre of attention for the newts.
Beguiling as the creatures are, they seem unable to lure him further towards them and seem unable to move far from the water.

Thanks for posting for me Rev. It's what I discussed with you anyway, so it is what I would have done myself. Sorry to be a bit taken up with elsewhere
Kia is on 22HP and bloodied again, she still has second wind to use though.
I'd also like to add a move out of the aura - to L7 to avoid further damage, if I may.
