Fair enoguh - didn't think it was set, seems fairly sandboxy :).
Ormiz shrugs at Staryth, then points at Gwen and Vance and raises his left eyebrow.
The creatures are grunting with effort and obviously embroiled in their task, but the green carpet-like sheet of algae - they seem to have placed something in the water for it to grow on - appears to be coming to an end. It will take them perhaps a minute to finish reeling it in.

Staryth winces, not enjoying battle, but shrugs. He's willing if the others think it is the best way
"Is there a reason we aren't leaving while they're busy?" Vance says quietly.

"Just walk by and hope they don't give one donkey's dung about it? mmm.. we could try it. It'll make for a boring story though. I thought we were almost obligated to either sneak by them in the shadows , or charge them blades waving?" Staryth says all this with a straight face.

Grimward rethinks his original idea, his slow-witted mind finally processing the situation.
"Maybe I was too hasty... I think we're far enough away to sneak off." He took one last glance at the thawns. "Still, be on your guard." He whispers.
Taking a quick note of his surroundings and taking advantage of any available cover, he slowly creeps away, beckoning the others to follow.
Stealth check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Incidentally, (for future reference) would it be possible for us to take 10 on the stealth check?
