I ran the surprise round thing a little differently this time around. I went on those being most stealthy having a surprise action and the guy who spotted Elsbeth gets a go as well. This was far less comlpex in the end than having people roll opposed perceptions against the bandits etc.
I think it will work out easier in the long run. Hope you guys don't mind.
Cheers

idiot plot to start with, but it is a simple and fast one. The paladin is asked from the Taldor militia to go recruit the dwarven fighter...and what is his answer ? how much i get paid ?
since i personally know the player and know where he lives, may i kill him ?
almost forgot, Wrath, congratulation for your 10 years anniversary

Well, this combat showed me that my preferred method for posting combat is going to be too confusing. It seemed to work really well last time, but for this group I believe we should move to the method of posting in initiative "blocks"
What this means - When combat starts, I'll call for initiatives. Once I;ve worked out the rough order, I'll group characters and NPC's into groups that need to resolve their actions before others can post. Once you are assigned to a group, it's the order you post that determines the order your action occurs. This is the second fastest method for game speed and maximises player choice without bogging us down waiting for one player to act.
eg. For this combat
Block 1 = Alandra, Mawj, Elsbeth. (they can post in any order, but we wait for them to post before I resolve the next block)
Block 2 = Bandits (I resolve all the actions for the bandits and post them for the group)
Block 3 = Lev, Arianna and Anya. (They post in any order they wish, but we wait until they're done before moving on)
Block 4 = Kressle.
Repeat until combat is over.
This method works very well as long as people post daily, it also allows for the running of complex battles with waves of reinforcements like this battle had. It can slowdown if people delay their actions or because posting times are out of sync for the group allocations. However, I think it will stop much of the confusion that occured this time. However, I will vigorously enforce the post per day in this case so we don't bog down too much. If people need more time then let us know early so we know rather than hang around, or have me DMPC when you would rather I didn't.
I think it can be a flexible approach from combat to combat as well. Sometimes it will be much simpler and you can post when you want and I will just slot your actions where appropriate.
Also, do you want me to post an intitiative tracker on the DM page for combats? I'm tracking combats using maptools on my comuter (including effects and damage to PC's and NPC's) so its easy for me. I can put some summary stuff up on DM page if needed so players can keep better track of things also.
Feedback welcome.
Cheers

Sounds good to me. Sorry to be a pain; I could try making more open-ended actions based on what the bandits might do. But I think the blocked initiatives make sense.
Now if the dice roller would just be more cooperative...
I'm not having any trouble keeping track of initiative myself. But if you want to put something like that on your DM page, that's fine.

Hopefully that gets sorted GN.
A note on how I'm running combat btw. I'm using Maptools ot roll for my guys since I created macros for them when I made the map and imported tokens. It saves me loads of time and means I don't have to wait for the dice function on the site to work for me before I know what happens. This allows me to post much faster and takes less time for me. This is important for me.
I hope you folks don't mind not seeing the rolls I'm making, and hopefully you're trusting me not to fudge things (which I tend not to do. If you die it happens, if my guys die, that happens too.)
Cheers

That's really quite good GN. You're far better at drawing than I am, I must say.

Loot from the bandit camp
Kressles – 4x daggers, 2x masterwork hand axes (1 dwarven, marked as a creation of master smith Blogden Forgehammer, the other is Ulfen, and carries the rune of an apprentice on it, obviously the assessment weapon for this particular weaponsmith to move into master craftsman), studded leather (ruined by Levs big sword hehe), potion of cure light wounds.
The 8 bandits – 8 x short swords, 8 x longbow, 150 arrows (50 of which are blunts used for hunting game birds), 8 x leather armour
(though two will need repairing to be useful and cannot be sold until then)
Gold carried by the bandits and their leader – 165 gold
Treasure under the tarps below the close tower - 321 sp, 90gp, a pair of silver earrings worth 150 gp (broad loops with a pattern of holly vine twined around them), a wooden music box worth 90 gp (Mahogony timber, with a small spinning veiled dancer inside. The dancer spins as the music box plays and the whole thing can be reset by winding the key at the back. This is obviously from desert lands to the south, as the tune is a childs song from that land, and the dancer looks like the veiled ladies found in those lands), three crates of furs and hides worth 50 gp per crate, and a polished wooden case of potent greenish herbal liquor. There are still eight bottles with liquor left in them, each worth 20 gp.
Experience for the fight – 250 + 100 for completion of a bounty quest = 350 each. My Dm page has the current total for you.

Well, I'm officially on holidays now and I have time enough to properly go over everyones characters. I gave them all a cursory once over when we began all this and everything seemed fine but I'll do some more detailed stuff now.
Just wanted to remind everyone that the books I'm comfortable with using are the Core Book, the APG, Campaign setting and campaign traits supplement as they have been written by Paizo and I have them. If you're using the SRD to get stuff and it isn't sourced from those books, can you run them by me first please. Some of the things in that document are not from Paizo and may not be overly balanced for what I'm after in the game.
I'm not in the habit of telling people no for things, but I do like to know how things work before allowing them in.
I'm sorry this is coming so late into the game, but this is the first time I've actually had a chance to properly look at things, since my line of work is exceptionally hard on my free time.
Hope you guys understand.
Cheers

I don't know what this SRD is :(
TheSRD is an online compilation of rules for Pathfinder, given that it is an open gaming license. I actually believe there's two versions of it floating about, but don't quote me on that.
As far as I know it's being compiled by people independent of Paizo and as such may have material from third parties in there. I usually don't mind those so much, as it can open a game up quite a bit, but sometimes those rules haven't been playtested and may end with an unexpected power imbalance later on.
In a similar vein, I have to be careful of homebrew rules I put in place as they can change balance on things that are otherwise perfectly acceptable (as I just discovered with one of Mawj's traits)
I like to run a houserule for updating items of a magical nature so they become more important to players through time. Mawj has a trait that gives her an heirloom weapon which is perfectly balanced for the rules as written, but with my houserule it becomes a little too powerful as the benefit it provides never disapears. So it's more like a feat than a trait with my houserule in play. I didn't realise that at the time so now I'm working with Tanner to see if that's balanced or not and see what modifications we can come up with.
I have to check the other character traits for similar issues so I don't go messing things up with any houserules I was going to implement. I don't think there's going to be any issues but now I'm all paranoid so I'll check all the sheets carefully to make sure I'm not going to mess things up later on.
Cheers
Edit - Oh yeah, the gamesmaster book should be in my list of books acceptable for use too, since I own that.
Edit 2 - Linked to the d20 SRD GN. It's a useful document with loads of great stuff, but some of it needs to be checked over for balance with what I have in mind. Oh, and Tanner, I found the Heirloom trait is in the Adventurers vault apparently

Is there anything on my character sheet you were not familiar with, Wrath? I was careful to make sure everything I took was from one of the major sources you listed. I'm not a fan of 3PP stuff anyway, due to how unbalanced a lot of it can be.
Lev
Apparently in the Adventuers Armoury the whetstone has added benefits to bladed weapons. It's actually pretty good and fairly well balanced. And I'd be happy to use it that way, I just need to get a copy of the Adventurers armoury. Check it out using the link I provided and see what you think in terms of balance. It's actually written by Paizo so hopefully they've play tested it.
Also, blunt arrows exist on the PSRD but nowhere else as far as I can tell, however it's a fan made item. I'm happy enough to have blunt arrows in play, in fact I put 50 of them into the loot. This allows archers to deal subdual damage if they need to.
Your traits are fine as they are from sources I already have and they don't look as though they'll cause balance issues for me later.
I think you're good as is :)

Lev
** spoiler omitted **
The whetstone I chose because I thought it was a flavor item; it hardly costs anything and doesn't add any weight so I just thought it'd be fun to have on my equipment list. I didn't realize it actually did anything. Bonus!

Hah! I realised about a minute after you read it aparently. I went back and fixed the spoiler tag hehe.

My game ha reached the first 50 posts...i'm quite proud :)
Go you good thing!. It's what quite satisfying getting a PbP up and running when it works. I can't read your thread though, since it's all italian and such and I'm barely fluent in my own language let alone some one elses hehe.
Terra Nova was my GM back in the day and he puts on a very good game too, so if you ever need advice he's someone you can ask as well.
Also, Tanner is DMing on these threads and seems to be going amazingly well in his game.
Vanulf is also running an AP on the threads. As amatter of fact, this is almost a game full of DM's. Interesting.

As far the loot goes, I'm contemplating on expressing an interest in one of the handaxes. It'd be a nifty extra weapon to carry around, particularly being masterwork.
Other than that, the only thing of value to Lev (aside from the gold) are the arrows. I'm inclined to suggest that we never sell or trade in the arrows but just keep a stash we can keep replenishing our stores from. Everything else, as far as I'm concerned, can be trade or sold to Olev.

Pity, i never learned to use painting software...that is all hand work.
I used these for the paints:
Letraset markers
And thanks, i'm no pro but i'm quite satisfied with the results
