Thanks. Back in the day, we used to play on a weekly basis in two fantastic long term campaigns. I ended up moving away a few years ago, and now we just get together on an annual basis for a long weekend of gaming. None of us can regularly game anymore, so these weekends have to make up for the rest of the year.

Enjoy that luxury WW hehe. None of my friends do the table top gaming any more (wargaming I assume you mean). However, I do have the good fortune to be able to DM a real life game every week on Monday nights. It means I don't get the leave pass for big weekend events very often though :)
Enjoy :)

On that note, while I have an idea for your background and I'm creating hints to it in your visions and drams, if you come up with something cool, throw it out there as well. It is your background after all hehe.

Ok, so first off Alannah would clean herself up and get to the bath, propably taking a dagger with her. She's try to find out who took care of her in order to show them gratitude.
She's work to get to know Otik and his wife a bit and through understanding them and their role, get an idea of their impression of the group she's been sent to join. How are they percieved?

Gah, Postmonster...
Ideas to deal with the situation (a real shame we can't develop this in game, by the way...)
- Find the Priest. Make sure he knows how corrosive Garess is. Walking out on a pregnant woman - this man can't be trusted to guard a community etc pp. Maybe a job for Lev? Rugged wilderness type...
 - Bergan stays at the post, to keep an ear on the ground and recouperate at the same time
 - Talk to the boy (name escapes me) and give the fae a push into his direction
 - Find some affairs of his. Put them together. Duck.
 - Hire a few mercenaries... say, twice as many as he has, to protect Oleg's customers and family. Have them "help" unasked in policing the squat and trade post. If he can bring his personal legbreakers, so can we
 - If all else fails, create some slight of his against Anya or Lev. Have a nice duel.

We can still do this in game TN, just as flashbacks or as in character posts in this thread if you'd like.
Alternatively, if you cut Alandra and Arianna in on things as well, we could all just pursue it in the main game thread. My only concern is having 3 or 4 characters playing out one thread while the others aren't pursuing much. If people have other ideas how to play that out though let me know.
I'd rather do this so everyone is satisfied rather than rush it. Le t me know your thoughts.

I'm all for having the group on the same page - in fact I think the "spoilering" is getting a little out of hand here. Just my opinion. :)
Another thing to think about is that Garess' resources might be pretty limited. He probably has a clear mandate, and not much official budget beyond it. Making his annexation attempt costly might be enough to cripple him on his "day job" enough for him to have to cut back.
I see little chance of stopping the settlers, not without more or less declaring sovereignty right here and now. We're not nearly there. So the next best thing is undercut Garess, make him look the fool, and draw out our main mission as much as we can while waiting for his backers to lose patience.
| Wander Weir |
I agree that there's little chance of stopping the settlers. Besides, if we can swing their loyalty our way, somehow, we'll end up ahead.
Lev certainly isn't going to be a fan of bringing the fae in and it's going to be tough for him to be persuaded to go that route.
I think leaving Bergan behind to keep an eye on the post is a pretty good idea. Having said that, I'd be a little concerned about the Captain trying to buy his loyalty in some way. If it hadn't been for Bergan almost getting killed by the horses I'd feel more confident but I'm afraid he might be thinking that he's gotten more than he bargained for.
On the other hand, we went to considerable expense to bring him back to health and that ought to count for something.
Working with the priest is a good idea as well, but I think we need to settle accounts with him first. If we can find that thing he was looking for, he'd likely be more agreeable. Correct me if I'm thinking of the wrong guy. I've never been good at keeping NPCs straight.

Getting ready for work right now so only a short post. I'll do a bigger in game one tonight when I get home.
Fair point on the spoilers TN. I'm running a runelords game where we don't use them at all, I just title the sections for people. Makes for more interesting read. We'll try that for a while.
I'll still need to spoiler some parts though.
Thanks for the overview of the plans, it goves me something to work with when I write.
The priest needs a shrine found. More about that in game thread tonight.
Mark,
Cheers

Some book keeping work. After selling all the weapons and armour you've scrounged so far you make a total of 75 gold each. There is also a reward of 100gold each that Oleg has given to Anya to disperse. So that's a total of 175 gold each.
Tents cost 10 gold each - Anya and Elsbeth both need one.
Horses are 75 gold each, and you need to replace 3 of them.
You still have one full week of rations but you should order more to arrive for when you return. I can't seem to find a price for this (probably my tired eyes.) Lets assume 3 silver each per day as it is for the cost of common meals.
So, the total outlay cost is around 44gold for each of you, which replaces everything you need and gives a further two weeks rations each.
Lev has a fair amount of credit with Oleg. Can he exchange some of his credit for his part in the expeditionary costs? Either way, 44gp seems pretty reasonable for all we need to buy.
Unfortunately, I don't think I've done a particularly good job of keeping track of Lev's income. I might have to go through the OOC thread and calculate it again.

I'm playing Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 on PS3, so again a bit busy (but this time for a more pleasant reason).
As long as Elsbeth isn't in close combat with the bear, i don't mind what her initiative is :P
I just picked up the original Dragon Age-Origins for a cheap price and I'm playing that. What a fantastic roleplay title. I'm a PC man though Gandal, only got the Wii as a console, and that's so we can play games as a family at times. Enjoy your gaming fix, but please don't foret we're here :)

I didn't really understand if Elsbeth last Magic Missile was used or not since the bear died one second before casting the spell
No she didn't :). Given that Lev's initiative was before yours, she would have seen teh bear drop and I ruled she didn't use her missile on it. You may need that spell slot during this next day and in a face to face game, you'd know the bear had dropped and act accordingly.

How are you finding it so far Mark? I just can't seem to get the same feel for my two new games that we had in Fall of Nations, but I think that's mostly because it's a prepublished campaign. I'll have some more personal development for you soonish as well. Cheers

I'm enjoying it so far. There's definitely a different feel. I think that is in part because the nature of the campaign leads to a certain amount of paranoia and mistrust. Also it's true Fall of Nations was something special that came alive in a really unique way. But you're a great DM so I look forward to this campaign.
And as for the near death, great scene and I'm sure Alannah has made a definite impression on her companions...in more ways than one.

Just an FYI,
I'm going to be out of town on vacation this week from Tuesday through Saturday and in the interest of Domestic Tranquility I won't be brining my laptop with me.
I will have my phone with me and can follow the thread but won't be able to post much, if at all.
So feel free to DMPC my character as necessary.
Thanks,

Time to talk about loot distribution.
We have a +1 longsword and a +1 Ring of Protection. Given that Lev already got a cloak of resistence, I'm not going to bid for either one.
First, does anyone want to make use of the longsword while we're out in the wilderness? There may be need for discussion in regards to what should be done with it on our return to the fort but I don't see any reason in the meantime for it not to be available if useful.
Secondly, I'm sure anyone could take advantage of the ring of protection. Lev abstains, and I know Elsbeth wants it. What of the rest of you?
| Wander Weir |
While she is a ranged specialist, Alannah can definitely use it, and needs a close quarters weapon.
Assuming that you're talking about the longsword, I'm fine with Alannah carrying it instead of Lev. Far better for it to be in use rather than sitting on Lev's horse.
The ring is still up for grabs. Anyone? Bueller?

I can do the roll if you'd like. It's a fair system, especially using these boards and the rolling system.
Again, if your numbers come up high and you choose not to take it, let the next person in line know so they can claim it if they'd like.
