Coyote Wonderpetal |
Here's my basic backstory, not sure how to tie it to everyone else yet.
Coyote Wonderpetal was raised by devout religious parents, but always dappled with fire magic as a child. She terribly burned herself while experimenting with a fire spell, which caused her family to disown her. She was sent out of the community, and forced to live on her own.
Through living on her own she learned how to keep herself alive and began experimenting with other elementals in magic. This often caused her to be in trouble with the locals, and would have to be very careful with how she proceeded to fix the problem.
She has been drawn towards Brevoy where fey magic seems to be stronger. She is interested in trying to unlock more magical powers and she has seen through her experimentation, what magic can do both for good and evil. She wants to better harness the power for herself and show the world what she is capable of doing.
Gatekeeper Io |
The Gatekeeper's Story:
In Brevoy, in a farmer's field, strange happenings began to occur. The herds moved in unison in seemingly spontaneous patterns, crops grew rapidly, but strange symbols were found pressed into the fields, and old women talked of something coming in their dreams.
Then, one day, it stopped. Inexplicably, life returned to normal. No one of import noticed the small tear to the astral plane open and close on the outskirts of Restov. In it's place, a single figure arrived.
That single figure was the gatekeeper. Battered, exhausted, and stripped of all but a cloak and brooch, Io found himself on the material plane. He proceeded to have extreme difficulties handling daily life until he encountered the other players. Only through their help was Gatekeeper Io able to regain his equilibrium and some friends.
I think that Coyote Wonderpetal would be one of the first ones Io would be able to encounter.

Sounds fair, though I do tend to get a number of 1's when I roll 4d6, whether in RL or online....
So I'm thankful you are allow re-rolling of 1's
Roll1: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 1) = 11 12 Roll1: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 Roll1: 1d6 ⇒ 2
I'm already seeing my luck.....
Roll2: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 3) = 13 14 Roll2: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Roll2: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Roll3: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 1) = 11 13 Roll3: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Roll3: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Kingmaker with a twist. Using only races that are commonly seen as outsiders, trouble, evil, etc. Such as Goblins, Tieflings, Half-Orcs, Orcs, Kasatha, Etc these creatures even as adventurers as looked down upon, never quite having a place to call their own.
....
So I could even pick drow?
Noble drow would be out if allowed, I figure.
RHMG Animator |
Got most of the crunch done sans equipment and still need to work on the fluff,
currently got a Drow Alchemist(Chirurgeon)+Sorcerer(Draconic (Red)) 5 being built.
I have run games with noble drows. But everyone else has picked traditional cr 1/2 races.
So you've got no problem with drow nobles...Sweet.
But to be fair, I'll stick with the Normal Drow, unless those I'm with all agree for me to Upgrade to Noble Drow.RHMG Animator |
I know those rules, But I also know that +1 LA becomes +0 LA at one point.
Looking over The Rules
....
Note that in a mixed group, the value of racial Hit
Dice and abilities diminish as a character gains levels.
It is recommended that for every 3 levels gained by the
group, the monster character should gain an extra level,
received halfway between the 2nd and 3rd levels. Repeat
this process a number of times equal to half the monster’s
CR, rounded down. Using the minotaur example, when
the group is at a point between 6th and 7th level, the
minotaur gains a level, and then again at 7th, making
him a minotaur barbarian 4. This process repeats at
10th level, making him a minotaur barbarian 8 when
the group reaches 10th level. From that point onward, he
gains levels normally.
.....
Even Unearthed Arcana from 3.5 showed LAs of 3 or less do became +0 LA as the character progresses.
And thus if CR1 = LA +1, and Character level greater then 3 then LA = 0.

Like I said it should be fine. I normally use the rules of
CR = Class levels so a CR 1 is reduced by 1 class level. But every three levels reduce CR by 1 down to half. So at 4-5 range you would have bought off the CR 1 adjustment.
My thinking though is you are getting a ton of At will spells and a pretty good Ability score boost of +4 Dex and +2 to all mental stats.
I have to ask then. Does anyone want this to turn into a monster campaign? I mean a game using higher than normal starting races? I have to offer it if we allow someone with a higher than normal race which grants things like Constant Detect Magic and so forth.
I did get someone wanting to play a Leprechaun in PM, and Kawa knows of another idea I was employing.

....
Almost of all of those at-will SLA's are utility spells, not attack spells. And it would require some creative ideas to turn them into some form of attack.
And since utility spells tend to be situational, they are hardly used.Tildea |

Ok.. so the party would have their own Chewie... I want to remind you unless someone picks up Sasquatch as a language or you pick up a language they cannot communicate with you. However, if you all could speak Sasquatch you could make an interesting secret language as its based on low pitch calls and knocks on trees and rocks.

Another Wayangs
Btw holy hell on those rolls
There is something strange, either some roll changed between the preview to see what I rolled and the "submit post" part or my math has gone astray.
maybe something changed when I rerolled the 1s, but what was printed is the final value.
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 6) = 19-4= 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 1) = 8 Reroll the 1s 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4) = 16 21-4= 17 Wow

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 6) = 12-4= 16 No! Reroll the 1 1d6 ⇒ 5 Now it is a 16
So 15, 17, 15, 11, 16, 16

Any language I speak is a 'secret language', since it's communicated telepathically! :P

Two, maybe 3 sorcerers. Decidedly you don't need another.
I am fairly slow at making characters and now I am redoing him. I think I am out of the run. If I came out with something interesting I will post him, but I doubt he will be ready in time.Good luck and good game.
