A Home of their Own

Game Master King without Land

1 to 50 of 248 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | next > last >>

We have never been accepted, always been wandering with no place to call our own. But what if we had the opportunity to forge our own future. A place we could call our own, a homeland of our own design?

Kingmaker with a twist. Using only races that are commonly seen as outsiders, trouble, evil, etc. Such as Goblins, Tieflings, Half-Orcs, Orcs, Kasatha, Etc these creatures even as adventurers as looked down upon, never quite having a place to call their own.

A level 5 game, gestalt preferred, Kingmaker inspired game. I might want to play this more than GM it. But I could GM if I absolutely had too.

The party has put forward their bid to the Lord Mayor of Restov has sent several parties of fearless adventurers into the Stolen Lands. But with only spotty reports at first turning to silence he has feared the worst. Oleg sends reports of bandits and beasts besting the men Lord Mayor Ioseph Sellemius has decided to try a different tactic. Taking bids from multiple parties he notes that one party is made of riffraft and trouble makers. Expendable to a tee, and perhaps hard enough to get somewhere in the Stolen Lands. So he sends word to the party that he accepts their bid and to meet him at noon the next day outside of his manor.

Anyone interested?

I was thinking rolls could be 4d6, drop the lowest (Reroll 1s).
Fifth Level as stated before
Potentially Gestalted
Races must be those who are mistrusted, hated, or feared. Such as Goblins, Kitsune, Orcs, Tieflings, Kasatha, Changelings, etc.
Humans, Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves, Halfling and the common races are not allowed
Starting Wealth is WBL (Standard rules for WBL)
Two Traits, No Drawbacks (One Trait must be Kingmaker Campaign)

The party needs know one another, so they should establish a backstory of why they know one another and why they collectively placed a bid on this mission together.

I have a character idea:
Gatekeeper Io
Astomoi Unchained Monk/Psychic
If you haven't seen the Astomoi yet, they look like humanoid constellations.

I've been wanting to play an Oread Fighter/Magus recently (one that uses a whip). However, I wouldn't mind playing a Skinwalker, and I've been looking at that race for quite a while too.

The main thing I'd like to know is how this might be played and what day (I'm only available Saturdays because I work second shift throughout the week, though Saturday is usually agreeable with people).

They have no face man! So they would be perfect for the theme. But their points are unknown right? Could you build them out and see if they breach the 21 points?

It would be PBP preferably.

I have no problem with either Skinwalker or Oread, but Skinwalker might have more social stigma to them being associated with Werewolves and other Lycans. So they might fit better.

How would a sheltered half-oni girl with grand dreams of adventure and deep, cutting insecurities about her heritage do in this campaign?
Was going to pick Psychic/Monk, for her, but since Io chose that first, I'm open to change. Any suggestions?

I think she would do very well. Outcasts tend to clump together so she could have met the group very easily. If she looks like an Oni and has demonic features then she would be mistrusted so have the social outcast.

Psychic Monk is popular it seems I have built one too, not for this just as a build exercise.

I am not sure what to suggest for a half-oni girl. It depends on how much hellish influence she wants to do. A Monk//Empyreal Sorcerer is a good idea and works similar to the Psychic but less introspective and more reflexive and spontaneous.

She definitely looks like an Oni.
Hmm... maybe Hydrokineticist? Her mother/father-thing was a water-Yai, so it would make some sense. Anything other lass you think goes good with that? The background on her training can change, so don't worry about contradicting it.

Honestly still might go Sorcerer, Demons have a lot of magic, and the Hydrokineticist would benefit from the utility spells the sorcerer could provide her. Could refluff the Hydrokinesis into being her magic innately interacting with water on a subconscious level.

Hmm. It's sounding good. I found that Paizo made an Oni bloodline, and just reading through it is giving me all sorts of ideas. I think I found my build. Thanks :)
It's settled, then. Hydrokineticist/Sorcerer. It covers two aspects of her personality quite well, methinks.
What would you be playing, King, anyways?

Well I need to see if we can find a GM otherwise I need to GM it. So was holding off till then. But I also like the Monk a lot. But if I had to do a build. I like the Ghoran so might go Sorcerer with Cross Blooded Verdant and Psychic. But as for the other class not sure yet

Cool. I look forward to seeing how this progresses, and I hope you get to play.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Me too, want to play my plant man

Since they're extraterrestrial, would a Lashunta be workable?

Also, could you post a link for building a Gestalt character? I have not used those rules before.

Well I do mention Kasatha, who are also extraterrestrial.

Gestalt Rules

Astomoi cost less RP to build than Kasatha, but I have no idea by how much since it's listed as an unknown RP cost race. I know that they have far less extra abilities and definitely more drawbacks built into them than Kasatha do so I think we're golden there. Race builder, since those abilities don't have point values attached but looking at comparable powers, I'd put them at 11 RP.

That is reasonable. I looked them over and thought about the same level.
But also remember, why would an Astomoi join with a group of other misfits?

Well, I've always wanted to try a goblin winged marauder. So maybe an Alchemist(winged marauder, grenadier) gestalted with Monk(Zen Archer). His only friend is his animal companion/mount. He has dreams of adventure, but is afraid to follow them out, as he thinks it might cause him to be even more disrespected.

Goblins would be a good fit for this I think. I am not as familiar with Winged Marauder as I am Zen Archer.

BTW I would be willing to allow the Medium Sized Variant. +2 Str and Dex, -2 Cha, medium sized and slightly overweight. 4 to 5 feet tall and between 225 and 275 lbs.

Here it is In short, it trades out mutagen and persistent mutagen for a flying companion(dire bat or vulture). It also gives you another optional discovery.

I'm not going to choose the Medium variant. mainly because;the more I weigh, the harder it is for my mount to get off the ground :)

I looked it up after I read your post. I like it, seems nice and would leave you free to take Fire Bomber too.

Fire Bomber can't stack with Grenadier though. One replaces Poison resistance as a whole, while the other replaces poison resistance +6. :( I'll just take the Burn! Burn! Burn! feat then.

Oh I missed Grenadier, either works.

And I know that was more for anyone else who might want to pick a Goblin.

Gatekeeper Io wants to establish a permanent 'gate' to the Astral plane, and the one who instructed him long ago had determined that the area we would be building a kingdom in would be the best, closest place we could do it, but had dismissed it because it was uncivilized. I would be joining up because if I can settle or at least stake a claim on the proper area, I can then build the gate there, and that would propel our occult meditations forward by centuries.

Honestly looking at a U.Monk//Reincarnated Druid with real interest as a Samsaran.. with the right traits you become virtually immortal.

Ah see there ya go, and leaves plot hooks for what happens if you get that gate open.

You know what I would remove the Kingmaker Campaign trait rule, none of them seem to fit with the theme of our game. So it can be two random traits.

Okiedoke. Should I build the Gatekeeper?

I'm going to start making the character.
So female goblin(grenadier, winged marauder)//monk(zen archer)

Go ahead, they seem really good.

Very nice over all. Remember you get to add Racial adjustments to it.

Oh, are we doing background skills? Any other conventions?

We sure can.
I think that's about it.

"Gatekeeper Io has arrived."

Still filling out the rest of the forum page, but I should be all gestalted out. Need to do double checks, though. I did average Hit points.

I'm a psychic/Unchained Monk. I think we have a goblin bomber alchemist.

I'm a Half-Oni Hydrokineticist and a Sorceress.

goblin Alchemist(winged marauder, grenadier)//Monk(Zen Archer)

Do we roll for HP?

Io, you're just asking for a Lahksharut to attack us at some point or another :)

Is there a GM on it already?

Let me roll too! I love rolling :)

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 5) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 2) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 1) = 7
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 5) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 3) = 9

Rerolling 1s

1d6 ⇒ 4
1d6 ⇒ 5
1d6 ⇒ 3
1d6 ⇒ 6

Final: 17, 15, 12, 15, 13, 14. Kinda cool stats, very balanced :)

If I get to play and not gm I will be a u.monk//reincarnated druid.

I am currently kinda hoping someone volunteers to pick it up. I don't like gmpcs in games larger than 3.

Profile and statistics updated and ready for (possible) GM's perusal.
