Grimm Warhammer |
Grimm has most of his equipment with him, so decides to check out some of the main floor of the inn. He will walk into the kitchen area and begin looking around. He has grown tired of all this "investigating" and has decided to take a more direct approach.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Rex Tolkis |
Rex will grab his remaining daggers, and walk outside, waiting for the group. He looks around, looking for any of these cultists.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Adran Liadon |
Adran will retrieve his gear from his room. He will then go to the restaurant part of the inn and talk to the innkeeper. Checking to make sure that the other party members who are interested will be able to hear the conversation, Adran asks the innkeeper: "Why did you lie to us about where Mala went? Where is she?"
Beckett Hammerguard |
If I can, I'll use my Passive Insight for 15.
Beckett Hammerguard |
1d20 + 4. Roll active insight vs DC13
My mistake. Sorry. New terminology still getting to me.
Insight: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Stepping up right behind/besides Adran, still unarmed/armored, "I suggest you back yurself off, humun. He ask'd you a question, and we be wantin' an answer, lil' man. I'cun smell yur fear. So, again, . . . where is da girl?"
Adran Liadon |
Wisdom (Insight) check: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Adran shrugs. He says, "You can yell and scream all you want. No one will hear you as there is no one else here but us. Not even Yig can help you now. Your only real defense was your cover and that has just been blown."
"Now we know for a fact that people have been going missing from this inn for quite some time. We also know that you lied about where Mala went. If we drag your rump back to Karcau to put you on trial for turning your customers over to a murderous cult it will not end well for you. That's the best you can hope for right now."
"Or we could decide that's too much trouble and just take care of business right here and now. We could get physical and beat the information out of you, or we could let you watch while we tear this inn apart looking for Mala and or some clue to where she is. The option that you might want us to use is that you give us a tour of the entire inn so you can prove to us that Mala actually left. As part of that tour I would really like to examine your tap room. But if you decide that you're not going to cooperate then I assure you that my tone will be the least of your problems."
Charisma (Intimidation) check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Once again the RNG proves it's allied with the forces of evil. :-P
Beckett Hammerguard |
"Mr. Grimm, escort Adran up there, just in case. Me an' Gusteelus will stay back here, jus' in case he tries anything."
GM Helaman |
The innkeeper fumbles at a door off the main corridor.
She's fine... she was just lost is all, he mumbles loudly.
He fits the key to the lock.
Insight rolls. Grimm 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 and Adran 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Adran may not be the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to working out people but it seems that the Innkeeper is jiggling the keys overmuch and talking a bit more loudly than what you think normal.
He suspects there are people on the other side of that door that the Innkeep is warning.
Rex Tolkis |
Rex will come back in and walk next to Adran. He looks towards Adran and whispers to him.
Everything ok? This evil person not talking?
Rex has a hand on his dagger. He whispers into the innkeepers ear.
Start talking. And to us. Now. Because you took my friend. I will not stop the dwarf. Join us in the side of good again, or die like the snake people had to. Tell us everything.
intimidation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Adran Liadon |
Adran will pull his crystal arcane focus on its thong so it hangs outside his shirt where he can get to it if he needs to. Adran will also say to the innkeeper, "Betray us and you will die."
Charisma (Intimidation) check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Adran Liadon |
Adran will yell, "Trouble!"
Adran will also attempt to grapple the innkeeper.
Strength (Athletics) check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
The innkeeper might crawl under that roll. Problem being that Adran knows something that isn't good is probably going down but doesn't know if it warrants actually trying to kill the innkeeper yet.
Rex Tolkis |
Rex will drop back 10 feet, and cast firebolt at one of the farmers.
firebolt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 6
Beckett Hammerguard |
If we hear the shout for trouble, Ill go try to bolt the front door.
If that's reasonably possible and on my turn.
Borden Read |
Beckett and Gusteelus secure the lower level, with Gusteelus playing as he moves up the stairs. Gusteelus - you will need one more round, and Beckett closing the door.
Rex's fire bolt drops one of the farmers, another is wounded as the dwarf rushes into the room swinging but is still upright... It seems likely the dwarf will get pummelled by three of them.
They shape up and try to take the dwarf in their midst.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Grimm catches a glancing blow from one of the clubs but ducks and weaves under the other attacks.
Adran Liadon |
Adran steps back 5 feet and casts an Eldritch Blast at an unwounded farmer.
Spell Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 7
Adran will say, "Careful with the fire bolts. Don't want to burn the inn down."
GM Helaman |
5 ft steps are no longer a thing. AoO occurs when you leave a threatened space. You can move around within a threatened area at will ie setting up flanks etc without an AoO but move outside a threatened area and you get attacked
The innkeeper swings a blow at the scholar.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1 + 1 = 2
Catching him a stinging blow around the ear!
Adran backs away enough to get a good enough distance to use Eldritch magics and the innkeep then groans and collapses under the arcane might of the bolt.
Beckett Hammerguard |
Again, on my turn (if I get one) will start making my way up towards the noise. No armor or warhammer.
Actually on second thought, I'm not entirely sure what the scene looks like. Is the upstairs on a balcony we could see, or turning into a hallway we can't really see? Also, my goal was to basically lock the door, to make sure no one else came to help. Was I able to do tat, or just close it? If not, and there is a reasonably easy way to do that, I'll do that instead, then try to close/lock any other doors I can see.

The front doors are closed.
Adran Liadon |
In theory, given that a fire bolt hit the wall of the inn it should be catching on fire. So for part of his move Adran will yell for Beckett. If there is no fire, Adran will not yell.
Adran will yell, "Beckett, we need lots of water up here fast!"
Adran will then cast an eldritch blast at one of the farmers attacking Grimm.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 2
Rex Tolkis |
Seeing the fire Rex realizes his error.
Hopefully this will help!
He will cast ray of frost at a farmer.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Beckett Hammerguard |
Hearing the cry, and despite his demeanor, actually having no wish to cause harm, burning the place down is actually the last thing he wants to do, I'll grab that bucket, and start rushing up just as fast as his little dwarven legs will carry him.
Would I be able to use Thaumaturgy to help here, (a bit later). The Cantrip kind of seems a little bit open ended as to what it might accomplish. I mean in the sense of within reason, would that be an option worth attempting?

Not sure - I'm a bit wary of it. It seems its not meant to be the all round spell that Prestidigitation has become in PF and I don't want it to be the swiss army knife of starting / extinguishing fires etc. I get the feel its meant to be for supernatural impact etc a kind of giving advantage for social interactions (in the right circumstances) and so on. For the moment, lets stick to the spell on pg282
