About Beckett Hammerguard
Name: Beckett, Race: Dwarf, Class: Cleric of Life 1
Tall for a dwarf, Beckett stands just over 5 and half feet, he sometimes indicates with a smile that his mother was an Ulfen woman. He has long brown hair, but chooses against a beard, not common for his people. After having down two tours at the Worldwound, Father Beckett retired as a crusader, but never left those war-torn lands. Instead, he established a small roadside temple, acting as hospitaler for travelers and refugees in need. He served as priest, herbalist, healer, and blacksmith, offering sanctuary to those in need, and something of a hermit when alone in the wilds.
Not long ago, as things have flared up with the most recent crusade, his small temple was attacked as the refugees began to appear out of the woodwork. Again taking up his old warhammer, he went to their aid, managing to fight off the demons, but at great cost. Many fell, and the temple was destroyed, alone with most of his possessions. Seeing those that survived to safety, he began to make his way back, intent on rebuilding, but as he arrived, he received a vision, that of a ghostly silver dragon. The dragon told him to travel to Ustalav, that he was being called for another task, as there would be many in the nights to come in need, and warned, ”There is a coming darkness. Remember, in Darkness, you can either struggle against the inevitable, stumbling blindly until you fall, or you can light a candle, spreading your light to others. It is the harder path. But, if one walks it, they can use that candle to help others to light their own, and just as darkness grows, surrounding all, so too can light grow, redeeming it’s own. You will be that candle.”
Hermit: Medicine & Religion, Herbalist’s Kit, Varisian, Scroll Case, Notes, Winter Blanket, Common Cloths, and 5gp
Personality/Ideal/Bond:
Personality: "The most beautiful flower grows in adversity. I shall be utterly serene, even in the face of disaster. "
Ideal: "I offer the gift of sanctuary. A gift is meant to be given. To be shared. It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness. I am that candle, flickering in the dark."
Bond: "All that is required for evil to flourish, is for good men to do nothing."
Flaws: "I seek answers both with and without. Sometimes a bit too much within, to the exclusion of without."
