RULE: FAVORS:
Season of Factions’ Favor introduces a new type of support card: favors. Certain scenarios place favors into the blessings deck. When that card is discarded from the blessings deck, do what it says. If a favor would be encountered or removed from the blessings deck discard pile, banish it instead.

RULES: TRADERS:
In Season of Factions’ Favor, traders work differently than in Mummy’s Mask, in the following ways.
• When you are rewarded with a trader, instead of checking it off on the Bazaar card, record it on your Chronicle sheet.
• You do not visit traders after winning a scenario. Instead, at the start of each scenario in this Adventure Path, before setting out the locations, you may visit 1 trader you have recorded on your Chronicle sheet.
• Pay the trade cost with the usual number and type of cards from your deck, but instead of putting those cards in the box, put 1 in to your deck box and bury any others.
• At the end of the scenario, return the card you traded for to the game box, and put the card you returned to your deck box back into your deck.
For example, to pay the trade cost to a trader offering spells at a cost of 2 boons, put 1 of those boons into your deck box, bury the other boon, then add the spell to your deck. At the end of the scenario, return the spell to the game box and put the first boon back in your deck.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

So this is Ukuja.

1. Terbutje
2. Terbutje
3. Hatchet
4. Light Crossbow
5. Cure
6. Call Animal
7. Cloud Puff
8. Koala
9. Dwarf Caiman
10. Crow
11. Dog
12. Blessing of the Elements
13. Blessing of the Green Faith
14. Blessing of the Green Faith
15. Blessing of the Elements

And I get 2 cohorts.
Leryn (Hunter Class Deck)

Not sure on the other one. Either Dexterity Stealth or Dexterity Acrobatics looks good.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Replacing Koala with Frilled Lizard because I noticed Koala examines not explores.

I know I'm playing with new and better cards when my desired upgrades list for tier 1 is this short.

Light Crossbow - Wendifisa Spear (Weapon B)
Frilled Lizard - Fire Gecko (Ally 1)
Crow - Raven (Ally 1)
Blessing of the Elements - Blessing of Milani (Blessing B)

I'm undecided on my card feat.
My powers are based around animal allies so ally would seem to be the obvious choice.
But Alternatively I could pick spell and as soon as a Spell 1 becomes available to me I could upgrade to Charm Animal.

Charm Animal - Bury this card to draw a random ally that has the Animal trait from the box.

Since it doesn't say return it afterwords I think this counts as an extra acquired card.

Correct. Charm Animal is a neat way to get an extra card for the upgrade pool.

Deck Handler Desired upgrades: Spell 1, Blessing 1, Ally 1

Actually since the party is fine with replaying the first scenario I can replace Call Animal with another Cure from Sunburst Market early on. Once I get a Fire Gecko into my deck I will want Call Animal back in so will probably replace a Blessing of the Elements instead.

As for upgrades I could actually add an item to my deck in preparation for Angelstep. Which is an item 2 that works like a Cure but recharges with Survival.

So I would move around killing enemies with my weapons and casting Cures. Barriers might be an issue but I will usually have 1 or more of the following skills from cohorts: Acrobatics, Perception, Stealth.

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

For multiple reasons I'll be playing Grazzle. Still down for replaying the first scenario.

Not much to say about Grazzle. He is good at healing the party. The only upgrade I'm looking for at tier 2 is a spell 2.

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

With 3 pure casters in the party and Mavaro able to cast spells, Spells will be a highly sought after upgrade. The simplest method is of course just rolling off for them. It might not be the best choice for the party as a whole but no one has to feel like they were treated unfairly.

Alternatively we can discuss what upgrades we are planning on making and maybe the party can just agree that a specific upgrade is the best choice.

Since the only upgrade that does anything for me is upgrading one of my basic attack spells to a better attack spell I'm not too concerned with getting spells until we hit tier 3. At that point there are 3 spells I'm looking at.

Major Cure Cure but then I heal 1 card. Since my healing ability cures on a 2 for 1 basis it is more efficient to use my ability then cure myself so this is just a better cure. For me anyway since the higher recharge DC doesn't matter.

Restorative Touch Cure but it also removes up to 2 curses. Not a full replacement for Remove Curse since it can't remove laws but it is very good. A bit awkward since I will sometimes have to choose between healing myself or decursing someone else.

Create Mindscape Display it next to a location and until that location is closed everyone there adds 1d4 to any mental trait roll. For the casters that is 1d4 extra dmg. +1d4 to recharge spells. +1d4 to acquire allies, blessings, and so on.
I'm not sure if it is good enough though. How often will 2 or more of us be at a location?

Not immediately relevant, but when the time comes, know that Seoni only got Ultimate Magic at the end of the last scenario. So I'll have a variety of items/blessings/allies I'll be interested in for upgrades, and should be able to be flexible in taking non-spells, and especially non-highest level spells.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

Doing d1000s works. If someone is being consistantly shafted by RNG we can negotiate to balance, and as always, we can chat and work it out when it makes sense to do so. I find that doing a prioritized list and roll gets everyone on the same page with who wants what at the very least.

And if there's an upgrade you want but is not a high priority, you can always 1d1 it.

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

This is Grazzle's second scenario at tier 2 so taking +1 hand size for my feat.
Not taking any upgrades.

Who plans to take Remove Curse? I plan to dump my weapon but with a 5 player party I wouldn't mind adding a 3rd Cure to my deck. Though anyone can grab a cure and eventually pass it to me freeing me up to take an attack spell.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

As long as Ezren has one and I have Game of Afterlife I think we are in good shape with Curses.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Ezren will continue to have both Remove Curse and a Cure spell. And I'll continue to give my Cure spell to Grazzle as soon as I draw it (would make sense for Ezren and Grazzle to start at the same location so that I can hand it off immediately if I draw it in opening hand).

I could use a little help with a couple of questions at this point.

First, I'm confused about where Ezren is now in his tier progression. As I mentioned at the start of the game, I played this PFS ID # (my -1001) once before, a few years ago at a con, but as Darago, not Ezren. We failed the scenario but I did receive a chronicle (if it would be helpful I can send along a copy of that chronicle). So: does that chronicle apply to Ezren (even though I played it as Darago in that case)? Does the fact that we failed the scenario make any difference to tier progression? I think the only reward the chronicle shows is a card upgrade - should that upgrade apply to Ezren? Finally, what does all of this mean for where Ezren is now (after completing our current scenario) and what - if any - changes do I need to make decisions about?

Second, with regard to strategy, I would welcome any suggestions that people may have for card upgrades for Ezren at this point. I'm using the Wizard class deck and the Ultimate Magic deck. I'm assuming that I upgrade one card now, as a result of our just completed scenario, but I might also have an additional upgrade coming if that older chronicle does apply to him. Related to that, am I now eligible to use the Sunburst Market before the next scenario (and if not, when do I become eligible?)?

Many thanks for any guidance any of you can provide.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

I swear I did a pro-active rewards post last night, but it looks like it went away

boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Item 1 (one of the two): 1d1000 ⇒ 735
Item B: 1d1000 ⇒ 617

For Ezren: A variety of traits is good for your spells. So mixing up Fire/Electricity/Poison and the like will be good. For Deck 1 Upgrades...
Wizard Deck: Sapphire of Intelligence and Sphere of Fire
Ultimate Magic: Pyrotechnic Blast, Binder's Tome
But I will say, Hawkmoon is an experience Ezrenarian and could offer good tips too.

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

You should now have access to Sunburst Market. Since this is the first scenario you have succeeded at you should gain a skill feat. Presumably +1 Int.

Up to Hawkmoon on the upgrade. Does the chronicle say what the upgrade is? In theory you would start with it.

As for upgrades you are all about the spells. You want mostly combat spells since you really don't want to be fighting with a weapon. But there are a few nice utility spells.

Prime spell candidates.

Spell 1
Sphere of Fire
Sphere of Fire (It is a good spell and is in both decks.)
Pyrotechnic Blast
Life Drain

Spell B
Augury (Maybe. Risk/Reward hard to judge.)

Of course you might not always win spell rolloffs so other good choices.

Apprentice makes a passable Ally B
And as mentioned Sapphire of Intelligence and Binder's Tome are good item 1s.

Edit: Just remembered. We are jumping straight to tier 2 after this. So here are some sweet tier 2 options.

Wizard deck
Item 2 Ring of Protection

Ultimate Magic
Spell 2 Marionette
Spell 2 Ghost Whip
Ally 2 Cleric of Nethys

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Thanks for the suggestions. But I won’t be tier 2 for awhile I think, even if we start playing tier 2 scenarios, right?

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

Right. I forgot about that.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Is this game eligible for boons?: 1d20 ⇒ 19 Ooh, I hope so with that roll!

Re the chronicle upgrade, I'm pretty sure it was a spell upgrade but I'll have to doublecheck.

For my skill feat (assuming that's correct that I get one now), I'll take +1 INT.

For my card upgrade my choices will be:
1. Spell 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 261
2. Item 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 425
3. Spell B: 1d1000 ⇒ 431

Unfortunately, no, this game is not eligible for boons as Gameday has ended.

As far as Ezren advice, this is all my personal opinion. I prefer to maximize Ezren's acquisition powers, so lots of his cards are geared that way. His allies almost have to be ones with exploring powers, or he'll be limited in exploring. The further we play, the higher the percentage of boons have the Magic trait. I like to make sure Ezren can get the ones that he isn't skilled in, so eventually cards like Swipe or a statstone kind of card. And I really like the Illusionist version of Ezren.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

Note that there are no Spell 1s in this spread.

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

Looks like there is just 1 item 1 and the rest of the boons are B.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

For the sake of not needing to wade through a long Hangouts thread...
We have the option to do 0-6 promo scenarios with Murder in the Market Place and Dangerous Cargo. Each unlocks a different Hell's Vengeance character that can act as a replacement character in this AP. Each scenario also adds a replacement card (like the others we've been getting).

This link is a pretty good explanation of how it works
Murder...

Current Votes:
EmpTyger: 0 or 6 of them
Nathan: 1-6 of them
GM Abraham: 6, but is easy

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

I don't plan to buy HV decks but it sounds like we tier up and get upgrades regardless. So I'll abstain from the vote since it doesn't effect me either way.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

I'll note one thing: We get a maximum of two tier advancements from this.

"When replaying, you may earn the reward for each card once, but only count the scenario once for tier advancement."

And there are two "Scenarios," Murder in the Market Place and Dangerous Cargo, so I believe that's two tier advancements.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Ok, I'm still pretty new at all this so someone please correct me if this is wrong:

* I get a skill feat for completing my first scenario: +1 to INT

* I get a card upgrade, drawn from the loot we acquired, and it sounds like everyone is ok with me taking the Item 1: Sapphire of Intelligence (trading out Bestiary of Garund).

* I now have access to the following traders: Falsin Deek, Ghoul Market, Sunburst Market. Unless advised otherwise, I'll plan to trade my Walking Stick (my only weapon card) for Blessing of the Elements.

* Other than this, there are no other changes or adjustments called for at this time.

Correct?

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

There was only one item 1. Reiko mentioned in chat that he really wanted it and that he rolled higher then you. There was talk of making sure you got a item 1 but I think that was under the mistaken belief that there were two of them. So if Reiko relinquishes the item 1 to you then it is yours. Otherwise I would pick one of the spell Bs.

The rest is correct though I would wait to find out what the setup is before using the market.

Edit: Apparently a Mummified Cat (Item 1) was acquired but unlisted so there were two item 1s.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Ok, Ezren is ready to go. Thanks for the help, everyone.

p.s. Now that I've had a chance to read the blog about the Murder in the Marketplace theme, switch me to strong support for doing all 6 of these scenarios. Seems like a fun concept/reward. No idea if I'll get the HV decks to actually use it, but it seems like a fun idea so why not do it?

Just to clarify, are we now shifting to Tier 2 scenarios? And how many more scenarios does Ezren need to play before he tiers up to 2?

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

Yes and up to you. You MAY tier up after 4 scenarios. You MUST tier up after 6. Since you are a few behind everyone else it can't hurt to tier up after your 4th scenario unless you plan to play a special with Ezran.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Ok, good to know. Thx.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

I will be completely off the grid from Thursday (Dec. 6) to Tuesday (Dec. 11). Please bot me as needed.

Deck Handler // Searching for: Spell 6 > Weapon 6 > Item 6

Tier Progress: Skill Feat: Intelligence d8 [X] +1 [X] +2 [ ] +3

Upgrades! Hawkmoon hasn't posted, but I've looked through what we got
Ally 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 366
Blessing 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 136
Spell B: 1d1000 ⇒ 711
Weapon B: 1d1000 ⇒ 228

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

This is my 3rd scenario at tier 2 so no feat upgrade. Not taking any card upgrades.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

This is Ezren's 2nd scenario at tier 1, so he gets a Power feat: increase hand size to 7.

For card upgrades, hard to say because I'm not sure what we got. But his priorities are:
Spell 1 (replace Mind Thrust for Sphere of Fire)
Item 1 (replace Codex with Binder's Tome)
Spell B (replace Mind Thrust with Acid Splash)
others? Any suggestions?

Loot: take Death Grip (trade Mind Thrust for it, or something else if Mind Thrust has already been replaced)

Trade: trade Walking Stick for Blessing of the Elements

I'm heading offline in the morning (and might not have time to post again tonight) but Grazzle will bot me while I'm gone. Back late Tuesday.

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

So Ezran will take spell B for his card upgrade, replace whatever he upgrades to as the Deathgrip loot, and trade Walking Stick with Blessing of the Elements at the Sunburst Market.

deck handler

Don't care much for Ally 2. I'd like the Weapon 1 for a Double Chicken Saber.

No one else seems to be interested in it so I'll take it and replace Shuriken +1.

Skill feat is DEX +2.

deck handler

Scorpion Whip isn't valid; Bastet is more interesting than anything I have so I'll replace a BotG with a Wadjet to test it out.

Back from my trip and just getting caught up now. Confirming:

At the end of the last scenario Ezren received a Power Feat, which I used to increase my hand size to 7.

For my card upgrade at the end of the last scenario, I took Spell B, replacing Mind Thrust with Acid Splash.

For loot, I'll take Deathgrip (I don't think anyone else wanted this? Also, I don't see any place on the combined tracking sheet where I should note this?), trading Lightning Touch 2 for it.

For Sunburst Market, I'll trade Walking Stick for Blessing of the Elements.

Was that the 3rd scenario of our adventure?

Grazzle's deck Desired upgrades: None until tier 3

Blessing 2 from the Candle. I think that is everything.

Hm Some boons are still unlisted. We got at least 2 allies:
Druid of the Hive B (Seoni)
Stained Glass Elemental B (Reiko)

Regardless, I'll defer my upgrade until everyone else gets their first choices. I've still got enough B boons from Ultimate Magic to not be picky. (All things being equal, I'd probably want among what's listed the Item 1.)

And as Ezren is still catching up, he can have the Unwrapped Harmony. Especially since he probably gets the best use out of it anyhow.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Ok, Ezren will take Unwrapped Harmony as loot, temporarily trading out Magical Child for it. Thanks, Seoni.

Human Wizard | Ezren's Deck //

Per discussion in hangouts, Ezren takes Spell 1 for his card upgrade, swapping Lightning Touch 2 out for Sphere of Fire in.
