TRADER RULES:
In Season of Plundered Tombs, traders work differently than in Mummy’s Mask, in the following ways.
• When you are rewarded with a trader, instead of checking it off on the Bazaar card, record it on your Chronicle sheet.
• You do not visit traders after winning a scenario. Instead, at the start of each scenario in this Adventure Path, before setting out the locations, you may visit 1 trader you have recorded on your Chronicle sheet.
• Pay the trade cost with the usual number and type of cards from your deck, but instead of putting those cards in the box, put 1 in to your deck box and bury any others.
• At the end of the scenario, return the card you traded for to the game box, and put the card you returned to your deck box back into your deck.
For example, to pay the trade cost to a trader offering spells at a cost of 2 boons, put 1 of those boons into your deck box, bury the other boon, then add the spell to your deck. At the end of the scenario, return the spell to the game box and put the first boon back in your deck.

• Note: Like in Mummy's Mask; the boons offered as a Trade Cost must be no more than 1 AD# below the AD# of the card you're trading for.

  • 1. I will be adding the text of each Scourge (Curse) to the heading information above this thread later today. I had thought it would be included in the scenario update posts, and I was wrong. I will also be adding in a section to the Update Post for "random cards", in case you have to summon and defeat or acquire a random card of a given type. This is all a work-in-progress; the database the Box Runners are working with has only just been in a working state, and it's still very much in beta.

  • 2. The general expectation is that you're able to post within 24 hours of it being your turn or the game needing your action (such as a check when it is not your turn due to a barrier). On weekends or holidays it's understood the 24 hour thing might not happen. If you know in advance that you'll be unable to post, just let me know via hangouts, my email, Private Message or an open post in the Discussion thread, as per your preference.

  • 3. If I am awake, I will try to post a "Scenario Update" as frequently as possible, which will clearly move the Blessings Deck and remove cards that have been banished/acquired from location decks (as well as shuffle or examine what needs to be done). However, you do not have to wait for a scenario update most of the time. Feel free to post your turn, stating what blessing was flipped and what cards you're encountering. If a deck is shuffled, you can roll a die (use the dice function in the forums) to choose your encounter.

    Example: Grazzle failed to defeat a monster from a 10 card deck, so it's shuffled back in. Valeros explores that same deck.
    Location Deck Card#: 1d10 ⇒ 3 -> Valeros opens the spoiler and encounters card 3.

    If nothing's caused the deck to shuffle, there's no need to do this. The decks are pre-shuffled, of course.

  • 4. I'm willing to run this game as long as there are players interested in continuing. However, there is no requirement for players to stay on longer than they wish to, and in particular note that that Cards Against Gnomanity officially ends by August 12th. Note that I will need to take a break from running this table on Oct 1st as part of commitments to the Assault on Absalom, so we'll try to finish an Adventure prior to that point as a good place to pause (or finish) on.

Hey everyone, your Box Runner Yewstance here. Just posting as an alias from one of my current characters to demonstrate a possible means of formatting your Card Upgrade preferences, if you want to announce them to the team so the team knows what kind of boons to go for.

How will card upgrades/'looting' work? (After the scenario):
For those new to PACG Organized Play; After a scenario is complete, the GM will provide a list of all boons that were acquired during the scenario. So, for example, I'd say "You picked up a Mace (weapon B), a Returning Throwing Axe +1 (Weapon 1), a Blessing of the Ancients (Blessing B), etc".

I'll provide them in a readable list, and then everyone will get to choose one of those cards to claim for themselves. Then, they get to exchange that card for a card of the same type and equal or lesser Adventure Deck Number from their class deck box. If they've claimed a Weapon 1, they may pick any Weapon 1 or Weapon B from their class box. Then, they can freely add that new card to their deck, and take out whatever they need to to make it fit into your defined card list.

This means that sometimes players may want the same card. 4 of the 5 members of the team are spellcasters, so I would imagine having a Spell upgrade is going to be in high demand. Players may choose to discuss and plan their upgrades with each other, or they may roll in the forum to decide who gets their first preferences.

Not just in high demand. In short supply. I notice Mummy's Mask locations are high in threats but low in loot. Especially spells.

Is the plan to do 3-2 and up with the same group?


That depends on the party's interest. Besides my aforementioned requirement to pause the game temporarily in October for the Assault on Absalom special; I'm happy to continue this group as long as people wish to continue (I suppose down to a minimum of 3 players).

I would anticipate, at this rate, that it's very possible that we'll complete entire adventure, all of 3-1, by the time that Cards against Gnomanity finishes in mid-August. That'd be a feat.

Even though most of us are spell casters, we're different types of spell casters. And even though we may compete for spell upgrades, we can just keep that in mind and potentially expend more resources to get them.

Also, between the 5 of us we have at least a d8/d10 in all the stats and most of the skills (except for Ranged, but Damiel's rolling a d12 anyway and Stealth, which we can cross our fingers won't cause our downfall)

Stealth is usually needed on barriers. I think Valros has a crowbar.
I get a power feat after this so can discard a card for 1d10 + 1d4 +1 on Dex checks.
I have Fire Snake that will let me use my Wisdom: Divine for non combat checks. And if I'm lucky enough to get a spell 1 at some point I'm switching Viper Strike out for Pyrotechnic Blast which is a basic fire attack that can also be used on a lock or obstacle.

Btw since we are going through this so fast do we want to slow down on closing locations and hunt for loot? As mentioned the fact that the henchmen move after being defeated is actually making it easier to close locations.

I like the 2 cures, 3 attack spells, 1 Fire Snake setup so most of my spell upgrades will be to attacks.

Level 1
Already added +1 to wisdom. About to add +1 to my reveal animal ally power, Then add an extra ally to my deck.

Replace Viper Strike with Pyrotechnic Blast (Divine +2d4)
but can use the check for combat or checks vs obstacles or locks.
Divine 10 to recharge sadly.

The animal allies are pretty mundane and mostly just get used to explore. I could be level 4+ and not care if they are all basics.
I probably want a Blessing of Pharasma or 2 in my deck.

Level 2
Same upgrades as before. Wisdom, reveal, extra ally.

Replace Frigid Blast with Holy Javelin (Divine +2d6)
If used to defeat an outsider, undead, henchman, or villain it is (Divine +2d12) instead. Recharge 10.

Maybe upgrade an ally or two to B. Add another Blessing of Pharasma. Maybe a Blessing of Gorum to help melee allies or in preparation for level 3.

Level 3
RotR Lini has very few options for power feats so I have to take light armor or weapon proficiency. I'm considering weapons and even using my card feat to add a weapon to my deck. There are 2 weapons I'm considering.
1. Scythe +1 Reveal for str or melee +2d4 +1, Discard for another d4. All 4s rolled during this check count as 5s. That includes extra d4s from say my reveal an animal power, Binder's Tome, some spells or abilities from other characters.
2. Seaborne Trident +1 Reveal for Str or melee +1d8 +1 discard for an extra d8.
Reveal to add 1d4 to your constitution, Fortitude, Wisdom, or Survival non-combat checks. Notably this includes my wisdom checks to recharge spells.

Replace Fireblade with Divine Blaze (Divine +3d8) Add 1d8 vs undead.
Recharge 14.
Replace Cure with Restorative Touch. Use on a character at my location, Banish up to 2 Scourge or Curse cards and Cure them for 1d4 +1. Recharge 11.

Blessing of Qi Zhong looks interesting. It heals a card from my discard pile at random when used to explore. And if the top card of the Blessing deck has a wisdom check to acquire it I recharge the Blessing of Qi Zhong instead of discarding it.

Level 4
Wild Warden Role. Bump reveal power to +3, Last Wisdom bump. Add last ally to deck. Or weapon if I didn't last level.

Replace Pyrotechnic Blast with Cloudburst (Divine +3d6) Ignore a before you act power from anything but the villain, After the encounter I may move. Recharge 13.

Assuming I haven't already replaced Binder's tome with say Boots of Elvenkind I will probably upgrade to Magnetic Grimoire.
Reveal to add 1d4 to any Acid, cold, electricity, fire, or poison check by anyone at my location. Recharge to draw a card with one of those traits from my discard pile.

Pteranodon is lvl 4 and my first decent explore ally. Move then I may explore. Add 1d6 to combat checks during that explore.

Two blessings of note at this level.
1. Blessing of the Seventh Veil: Discard to add 2 dice to any intelligence or charisma non combat check, Or explore and during that explore add 1 die to my intelligence and charisma non combat checks.
2. Blessing of Osiris: Doesn't discard to add 1 die to any check. Discard to add 1d4 to any check that invokes the healing trait. (I don't think this means add another 1d4 to cures so this seems bad.)
When a character shuffles cards from his discard pile into his deck, discard this card to allow him to shuffle an additional 1d4 cards.
So it discards to increase healing.

I wouldn't mind having the level 3 spell Create Mindscape in my deck.
Display next to a location, Add 1d4 to all int, wis, and cha checks at this location until it is closed.
But I don't know what spell I would cut for it. And I think since it has the mental trait you can't use the extra d4 when fighting undead.

We did it! And with victory comes the spoils. Lini's power feat choice is easy. +1 to my reveal an animal ability.

My upgrade choice has been mentioned. I would really like spell 1 so I can replace Viper Strike a spell some enemies are immune to, With Pyrotechnic Blast a fire spell that also helps with obstacles and locks.

And Lini will start in the Smoking Den next adventure.

Since there are 13 barriers plus the Aspis potentially summoning more I will trade my amulet for a crowbar at the market.


Darago's Deck // Searching For: Item 5>Weapon 5>>Spell 5>>>Weapon 4

My power feat is also a no-brainer: Command Undead (the "Add Undead monsters to my hand" one)

I'm more torn with the deck upgrade:
I could go with Item B to replace my Codex with Token of Remembrance, but we have tons of healing and I can recharge the spells pretty well, so its not really that great...

Spell B would let me replace Detect Magic with Augury, but we have Trigger Cards and it doesn't give me the free explore...

Blessing B would give me Pharasma or Abadar, but I kinda like BOTG for the wildcard power...

Weapon 1 would let me get rid of my Rapier that I can't actually use effectively. But I already have tons of attack spells. And I can use Sunburst Market to get rid of the Rapier anyway.

I like my Fox and there aren't enough armors in the class deck so the Ally and Armor upgrades have no use for me.

Any thoughts?

I'm of the opinion that Augury remains one of the two strongest deck B spells printed (along with Cure). Placing unwanted monsters at the bottom of a deck (or a henchman at the top of a deck) is usually equivalent to 1-3 full explores, and Triggering cards usually lets you encounter (and thus banish) them, so Triggers are often beneficial by giving you more explorations.

However, Augury does now carry a risk, however, one that is increasingly dangerous without armor or other means of defense. It's up to you!

Oh, and do note, in case you're not already aware, that if you acquire a Magical card with Detect Magic, you don't get Darago's bonus explore. Because Detect Magic isn't an 'exploration' (like his power requires), it's an 'encounter'.

You know, sometimes I completely forget about Darago's bonus explore... And since Detect Magic is basically made redundant by a power I already have, I'll take Spell B for my Deck upgrade. The rest of the options don't really make as much sense.

Valeros is presumably grabbing the weapon 1 and boosting Strength but we will see.

Don't forget to mention preferred starting location and any market trades.
As mentioned Lini will start in the Smoking Den and will trade her AoMF at the Sunburst Market for a Crowbar.

Though since I now have 2 ways to deal with Barriers in my deck I could bite the bullet this time and take Remove Curse freeing Grazzle up to take a Crowbar.
Or we could skip remove Curse.

We have received the final piece of our convention support, the special convention player rewards!
First off, if you are a BRAND-NEW player to the Adventure Card Guild (as in, the character you're using in your game is your #XXXX-1001 and you have not played any other characters in organized play) you can assign the Welcome to Pathfinder Reward to that character:
Society Initiate: You may only assign this reward to the first PFSACG character that you create. At the end of a scenario, if your character is dead, you may cross this reward off; your character is no longer dead. If you have a role card, you may instead cross this reward off to gain a card feat.

In addition, EVERY player AND box runner is going to have a 10% chance after each scenario of scoring a reward. These rewards can be assigned to any of your PFSACG characters... they don't have to apply to the character you were using. If you roll a 1 or a 20 on your d20 roll at the end of a scenario, you'll get to choose from any one of the following faction rewards:

Note about faction rewards: Faction rewards are a special type of benefit tied to the factions that use their considerable influence within the Pathfinder Society to pursue their own agendas. You may apply no more than one faction reward to a given character at one time. You may use no more than one power from a faction reward per scenario. Each faction reward specifies additional requirements that, once fulfilled, grant additional uses of the reward’s power. Once you have used all of the powers from a faction reward, including the powers that have additional requirements, you may assign another faction reward to that character.

Was anyone looking for spell 1 for loot? Because I have an idea.
Yewstance says that if we play something that pulls a boon from the box that boon counts as loot at the end.

I was going to pick ally for my card feat after this to add another animal ally. But if I claim another spell 1 this time I can add Charm Animal to my deck./ I bury it to pull an animal ally from the box.
That is effectively the same as the ally card feat for me but adds an ally as loot at the end.


So that was a message from Tyler, here's my own way of describing it, from my understanding.

Firstly, for anyone who is playing as their first created PFSACG character, they may take the Society Initiate reward for them. By my count, that is Darago, Lini and Valeros. If you think your character should also count, please let me know! You can track this however you choose - perhaps in a tab on your Deck handler - but I will try to track it myself and include it on your Chronicle Sheets once they're fully generated. I'm seeking some specific clarifications on this, but I'll let you know if anything changes. (See my next post)

Secondly, for every scenario we complete (successfully or non-successfully) during Cards against Gnomanity, we each roll a 1d20 for a reward. If we roll a 1 or a 20, we get to pick a Faction Reward, and apply it to any of our PFSACG characters we wish, or save it for a future one.

When you apply a reward, you get a once-per-scenario power from it, as listed above. You get to use that power twice before it's 'used up', but you can gain 2 more charges of it by completing the little 'sidequest' attached to them. In doing so, you can use that power a total of 4 times. Once you've used all 4 uses up, the reward is expended and you can take a new faction reward on the character, if you so choose!

So, for scenario 1, here's my roll for Faction rewards.
Scenario 1, BR: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Alright, so as mentioned in Hangouts, I can't actually give out the Scenario Initiate reward to anyone because nobody on this table specifically meets the requirements on a technical level.

Darago and Lini, whilst this is their first characters, created their characters prior to Cards against Gnomanity, and both have a pre-existing Chronicle Sheet.

Valeros is listed as Abraham Z.'s second character, with an ID of -1002.

In that email, please include the following information.

-Your Paizo forum handle/username
-Your character's full PFS-ID

We should discuss whether to to slow track or not.
By slow track I mean play 6 scenarios before going to the next tier.

It would allow us to play the whole AP. It would also add a bit of challenge since we will be doing some scenarios lower tier then we could be.

And more chances at loot.
Oh, And more shots at the player rewards.

Not sure what you're referring to, I'm afraid. Whilst it's true that you could add a bit of challenge for yourself, and by under-leveling your characters you could play in other tables and take a couple more rewards if you found other games, "The entire AP" is 5 scenarios per adventure, with 6 adventures in total. That lines up perfectly with the recommended tier progression, as most seasons do (except for the older ones, I think).

In other words, 5 scenarios before tier-up syncs up precisely with this Adventure Path. Lini and Grazzle may wish to play the full 6 scenarios for the first tier, because they've come from another table, but nobody else has anything directly to gain in doing so. In fact, Lini and Grazzle would still experience the full season even if they didn't slow-track, since you can still participate in a single tier below your character tier.

(Note that I'm not forgetting Darago. His pre-existing scenario was from this adventure, so he'll just forfeit the all non-card-upgrade rewards when re-playing that scenario, 'tier-up' included, so he's actually in line with everyone else.)

There's no difference in Player Rewards either. Like I said, this party will experience the entire Adventure Path either way, but the player rewards will only last for the length of Cards against Gnomanity, which is only a few more weeks.

If you want me to be super-super secretive and spoilery and technical, there's 31 scenarios, and you'll definitely want to beat the 31st. :)

But pretty much correct. You're allowed to tier-up after completing 4-6 scenarios in Organised Play, so you can 'hold off' or tier up early if you wish. I recommend just tiering up at the end of each Adventure (so when we add in new cards to the decks, which will be made very clear at the time). That's what the design intent is, at least.

Correct! Note that after hitting tier 6 you can continue playing and earning rewards, but only for an Adventure 6 deck you've already begun. So even if you do tier up a bit early here and there (not that I recommend doing so), you should still be able to finish the full season without an issue.

The 'leeway' of 4-6 scenarios is entirely designed so that you can occasionally use your character with other tables or adventures and still have some flexibility to continue with the main season they were made for. It also lets newcomers catch up, or veteran players slow down, to bring people on an even footing. Since a character can participate in an Adventure that is equal, or numbered 1 tier higher or lower than their own, there's a lot of flexibility. (For example, all of you could play in a Tier 2 adventure with your current characters)

Fyi, just wanted to let you know that I heard back from Tyler, who sent me a copy of the boon, but said that I should go ahead and assign it to my -1001 character (Darago) instead of Valeros. I guess I know what I'll be playing next! :-)

No, not at all! Sorry, I wasn't clear at all. No I'd like to play Valeros all the way through this AP (assuming everyone else is down to go the whole way).

But then, whenever it's time to start playing a new character, I assume I'll do Darago, since I now have this boon assigned to him.

I think that will be difficult to do. A lot of people volunteered to be boxrunner for this event. Many of the tables are running slower then ours but they still should get through more then one adventure before the event ends.
Odds are they will want to continue after the event is over.

So you have increased demand from people who like the ACG PbP, The boxrunners are already running tables and in a few cases will be running another table for the special.

So we would need an active boxrunner with the time to run an extra table. Preferably through the whole season.

I want to play my Grazzle but I don't expect to happen.
Now in theory me, you, and Andrew could play irl but even if we restricted it to something like 1 Sunday a month at Giga I still don't think it would work.

Edit: I still don't have anything from Tyler.


Thankfully, becoming a Box Runner is only going to become easier and easier as they smooth out the tools, allowing more people to run games over play-by-post. Right now I cannot offer to run a second table, but later in the year (or early next year) that may change.

Incidentally, I will be travelling during next weekend, specifically from about the 27th-29th of July. I will likely be unable to make scenario updates, but I'll try to pre-empt as much as possible, including making additional random cards to draw and labelling the blessings deck appropriately. If I'm lucky, I might get a chance to make one or two scenario updates during travel, but things will be hectic for me. Sorry to all players in advance if this causes a slowdown.
