TRADERS & TRADER RULES:
Sunburst Market basic boons
Available Traders

TRADER RULES:
In Season of Plundered Tombs, traders work differently than in Mummy’s Mask, in the following ways.
• When you are rewarded with a trader, instead of checking it off on the Bazaar card, record it on your Chronicle sheet.
• You do not visit traders after winning a scenario. Instead, at the start of each scenario in this Adventure Path, before setting out the locations, you may visit 1 trader you have recorded on your Chronicle sheet.
• Pay the trade cost with the usual number and type of cards from your deck, but instead of putting those cards in the box, put 1 in to your deck box and bury any others.
• At the end of the scenario, return the card you traded for to the game box, and put the card you returned to your deck box back into your deck.
For example, to pay the trade cost to a trader offering spells at a cost of 2 boons, put 1 of those boons into your deck box, bury the other boon, then add the spell to your deck. At the end of the scenario, return the spell to the game box and put the first boon back in your deck.

• Note: Like in Mummy's Mask; the boons offered as a Trade Cost must be no more than 1 AD# below the AD# of the card you're trading for.

Welcome to Osirion, khazkhaz, AAUGHWHY, Abraham Z., and GM Andrew! An ancient land of treasures and mysteries await!

Cards Against Gnomanity doesn't start until July 9, but there are a few things to set up in advance so that we're able to start gameplay right away on the 9th.

This thread can be used for any discussion about the game or anything else you want, while the Gameplay tab is generally reserved for in-character/gameplay posts. Out-of-character discussion in the gameplay tab should be posted in [ooc] tags wherever possible.

This thread is great for discussing characters, strategy, notifying the table if you may be absent for a time, discussing who gets the right loot cards or requesting specific card upgrades.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A helpful checklist to help everyone get started. Please consider the following before the game starts on the 9th.

  • 1. Choose your character: If you haven't picked a character yet and you're not sure who to play, post here and the rest of us can help you out! If you want to discuss a possible change of character to the team, you can also do so here.

  • 2. PFS ID: You'll need to have a Pathfinder Society Player ID and Character ID. You'll be able to find (or generate) your Player ID on this page. Once you have a Player ID, click the "Register a New Card Game Character" button on the same page to create a character ID. Once you're finished, you'll end with a number something like this: 123456-1001. I'll need that number from you in order to fill out your Chronicle Sheets and report our game sessions.

  • 3. Verify Deck Ownership: Make sure you verify your class deck ownership as instructed here. If you have any accessories that give in-game perks (promo cards, t-shirts, character mats, etc) that you would like to use, please have those verified as well.

  • 4. Google Hangouts: I would recommend that we use Google Hangouts to facilitate game discussion. The Discussion thread of the Campaign page is fine when your question can wait for an answer, but when you really need to know if you can use someone else's blessing, or you've found the villain on turn 3 and you need everybody else to make a temp close check, it's just not ideal. It's also great just for letting everyone know that you've posted your turn and who's next. This really helps keep the game moving.

We will only use Google Hangouts if the entire team is on board with it. After everyone has checked in, I will send you each a PM to confirm that you are willing to use Hangouts, and ask for your Hangouts email address to invite to a group chat.

  • 5. Organized Play rules: If you're not familiar with the Organized Play rules, please read through the Guide. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Additionally, if you have any questions about standard rules (such as how a particular character power works), feel free to ask about that as well.

  • 6. Starting Deck: The next step is building your deck! The rules for building your starting deck are in the Organized Play Guide, but basically for new Tier 1 characters, all cards in your deck must come from your class deck (and/or any one Ultimate deck box) and be B-deck cards with the Basic trait.

  • 7. Deck Tracker: In order to track your deck, you are free to use any method you like. I strongly recommend using a copy of this Google spreadsheet (click "File", and then "Make a Copy"). Basic instructions for the spreadsheet are here. I would also suggest using Column O in the "Don't Look" tab for the card text for your cards, so you don't need to keep the physical cards handy. If you need any help setting things up, just let me know and I will definitely give you a hand.

Feel free to modify your Deck Handler if you feel it makes it more usable or helpful, or use someone else's modified Deck Handlers. I can also give a go at writing in specific functionality you might want to implement, if it's reasonably simple.

  • 8. Turn order: To start with, it's usually easy to order turns based on timezone and when you are most likely going to be able to post a turn. Please let me know what time zone you are in, and what time(s) of day you're most likely to be active. If you have a specific request for your turn order, post it here.

I'm in Australia; on weekdays I'm most active 11am-3pm PDT, and 1am-3am PDT, with intermittent access between 3pm-1am. I'm more active on weekends.

Sovereign Court

Got it. Setting up my deck now.

My timezone is GMT+8, so it might be closer to yours. I'm most active 3-5am PDT.

GM Andrew here. Setting myself up. I am currently in GMT+9 but in a few weeks I'll be back to GMT-4.

Playing Grazzle, the super-healer. (Think he was meant to mimic a life oracle from Pathfinder)

I don't have much choice in the decks I play because I'm thousands of miles away from home and only brought a few decks, so I'd like to stick with this guy.

Welcome khazkhaz and welcome Andrew! Happy to have you both on board, and thank you for checking in. I'm looking forward to seeing this Adventure play out.

Indeed, Grazzle is quite the healing fiend. Having one in the party completely changes the dynamic of various other characters, I've found.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Yewstance was kind enough to let me switch over to this table so I can play with people I know.

I have played the steam game some recently but have only played irl once and that was with a pregen. I've played on pbp for a while but not with the card game.

My FLGS should have my cards by Friday and this is what I am considering playing.

RotRL Lini using druid class deck and ultimate magic addon deck

Strength d4 [ ]+1 [ ]+2
Dexterity d6 [ ] +1 [ ] +2
Constitution d8 [ ] +1 [ ] +2
Intelligence d6 [ ] +1 [ ] +2
Knowledge: Intelligence +3
Wisdom d10 [x] +1 [ ] +2 [ ] +3 [ ] +4
Divine: Wisdom +1
Survival: Wisdom +3
Charisma d8 [ ] +1 [ ] +2 [ ] +3

Favored Card: Ally
Hand Size 5
Proficient with: None
Powers:
<Power 1> When you play an ally with the animal trait, you may recharge it instead of discarding it.
<Power 2> You may reveal an ally with the animal trait to add 1d4 ([ ] +1) ([ ] +2) to your check.
<Power 3> You may discard a card to roll 1d10 instead of your Strength or Dexterity die for any check.

And this is my tentative plan for my deck.

Viper Strike Magic Poison Divine +2d4 dmg combat check recharge 6
Frigid Blast Cold instead of Poison Divine +2d4 recharge 8
Fireblade Fire divine +2d4 recharge 8
Cure x2 heal 1d4 +1 recharge 8
Fire Snake use my divine check (1d10 +3) in place of any non combat check recharge 8

Allies (I recharge animal allies I discard for abilities)
Crow Recharge to add 1d6 to my check to acquire a weapon, armor, or ally or discard to explore
Dog Recharge to add 1d10 to my Perception check or discard to explore
Frilled Lizard Discard to add 2d4 to my check against a bane with the Veteran trait or discard to explore

Items
Spellbook Reveal to add 1d4 to my intelligence or arcane non combat check or discard to recharge a random spell from my discard pile.
(I may want this to be an amulet of mighty fists. Tbh it doesn't sound like there are a lot of good options at basic for me.)
Binder's Tome Reveal to add 1d4 and the mental trait to any combat or charisma check at my location or bury it to evade one of my encounters

Blessings
Blessing of the Spellbound add 1 die to any roll, or discard to explore, or recharge to add 1 die to any check involving the arcane or divine check.

Remove Curse is also an option but is a blank if not playing mummy's mask.
Having only a 65% chance of recharging my spells isn't great but that is my trade off for the reveal power.

Lini is not great at combat but she is pretty good at picking up boons and closing locations that require skill checks.

Sovereign Court

I will play Damiel. He has two Cures that I can help you with, so lemme know when you need 'em.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

You have charisma listed as a d4 and a d10.

Also my Divine check is 1d10 +2 not +3. Still better then d4 so Fire Snake can come in handy.

We should pick locations before drawing our hand. And one of us passing Grazzle an extra cure could be a big help to the party. Passing Lini a weapon could also be useful. Especially if I leave out the amulet of mighty fists.

No matter who the remaining 2 characters are, I can already see healing won't be an issue, and there's no worry about failing to recharge spells. 3 'divine' casters, 2 of which are particularly well-suited to healing.

It also solves some of the issues with some characters in the table that Grazzle can allow players to shuffle their decks easily, so recharged cards aren't stuck on the bottom. :)

I'll be posting the first Adventure and scenario locations as soon as I've got them, incidentally, though we won't start the game proper until the 9th.

Scarab Sages

Whoops! Sorry for the delay! I'm here now.

I'll be playing Darago, the necromancer from the Wizard Deck. He's pretty fighty with Weapons, Attack Spells, Armor and Bracers of Protection.

My timezone is -8 right now (California, USA). During the weekdays, I'll be most active around 6 PM - 12 AM PDT.

Welcome bigguyinblack and AAUGHWHY! We have 4 of 5 checked in.

The current turn order looks like the following by default. Please notify me of any alternative preferences or suggestions.

1. AAUGHWHY
2. khazkhaz
3. GM Andrew

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Do we want Grazzle to go last since there will be more cards to heal?

Deck Handler Spreadsheet ; Chronicles Looking For: Spell 4 -> Spell 4 -> Spell 4 -> Blessing 4 -> Blessing 3 -> Armor 3 -> Weapon 3

I am good with going last, and yes it does typically help Grazzle. Hey look, it's exactly life oracle tactics from Pathfinder!

FYI, I am on a vacation (a vacation inside of a work trip) and I couldn't pack my cards inside my bag, but I will be back to my work hotel Sunday night (GMT+9) so should be ready for when the gameday starts.

I'll certainly put Grazzle at the end, though we're still waiting on one player, of course.

Bigguyinblack, AKA Lini, has a pre-existing Chronicle sheet, having completed 4-1A. This means she'll get feats a little early (at least for the first adventure) compared to the team, and she starts with some traders already unlocked, which can be used for either Season 3 or Season 4.

I've put the information and rules about Traders in the campaign header; note that Sunburst Market also has a link to a nice dropbox which lists all basic cards in Mummy's Mask.

I'll write a quick summary of traders her too, though, in my own words.

Traders in Season 3 and Season 4:
Traders give you the option of switching out cards from your deck with cards from the box before you start a scenario (but after seeing the scenario rules and locations). You choose one trader to visit, and then that Trader (unless it's Sunburst Market) will draw X+1 boons of the type they specify from the Mummy's Mask Box, where X is the number of players in the party who went to that specific trader.

Then, you swap the required number of cards from your deck to get one card being offered by the trader for the duration of the scenario. The cards you trade away will be returned at the end of the scenario (unless you banish what you got). Note that you don't need to swap away the same type of cards as what you're trading for!

There's a couple more corner cases and rules about Traders, but I'll bring them up if they become relevant; most aren't important for Adventure 1.

In my opinion, Traders are a very powerful mechanic, especially Sunburst Market. They allow you to cover weaknesses/limitations of your Class Deck, as well as effectively change out your Card Feat list, as well as help tune your decks to a scenario.

Some players may want to trade an armor or item for a Cure spell in the Sunburst Market. Or an attack spell. Or just switch out anything you want for a bonus Blessing!

I still don't have the appropriate text... but I'll be setting up the first Adventure/Scenario anyway, based on the text given to other tables, so people can see the locations we'll be dealing with.

(If the table requests it, I can try to tweak the flavor text intro/outro to the scenarios so that they more accurately reflect your team of characters and/or the events of a given scenario. If I do, I'd probably do it in a separate, spoilered post, so you still get the normal, unedited flavor text.)

Starting Adventure text, Scenario text, and Scenario locations posted.

Expect future scenario updates to have a different format - this wasn't generated with the tool that we were given, just stolen from another table that played this scenario.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

If my FLGS is to be believed then my cards should arrive today so starting Sunday would work for me.

As for the trader the Sunburst market is crazy good. I can lose a card of my choice. Probably my basic item since I find all of my options to be meh. But I can get a basic card from the MM box.
I presume I can only trade once per scenario.

There are many good options but I've narrowed it down to 3.

1. Remove Curse - How bad are the curses at this tier? Odds are good that I will be playing a lot of Mummy's Mask so I might even cut my poison attack spell and start with this in my deck.

2. Immolate - Basic Fire attack spell and only 7 to recharge. Since I want to start at the Brickworks to pick up a weapon it will be more useful there anyway.

3. Shock Lizard - animal allies are very good for me and this one can add the Electricity trait when I discard it to explore.

Opinions?

Hi everyone, my apologies for being slow to the table. I'm trying to get myself set up now but I could use some help. I've only played PACG once, at a con, and I'm not quite sure whether my character (Wizard Darago) died or just failed (the chronicle sheet says "success: no" and I got no scenario rewards, but it doesn't say anything about being dead). In any case, since we already have a wizard, I figured I'd just go ahead and start with a new -1002 new character, a Fighter.

1. Choose your character: So, question #1: when I went to create an alias, it offered me 4 options for Fighter (Flenta, Vika, Valeros, and Tontelizi). I think I need to choose one of these options now, yes? Is this an irrevocable choice? Since I have a very minimal understanding of how PACG works, do any of you have any opinions about which is better and/or more fun?

2. PFS ID: 100198-1002

3. Verify Deck Ownership: - I've sent a photo of my deck to the designated email address.

3a: If you have any accessories that give in-game perks (promo cards, t-shirts, character mats, etc) that you would like to use, please have those verified as well.
Question #2: so I have six (promotional?) cards labeled "Iconic Heroes". I can't remember where I got them but I have a note that says "This set includes 6 exclusive cards for use with the PACG." Can I include them? Should I include them? Do I need to verify my ownership by also taking a picture and emailing it as above?

4. Google Hangouts: - fine with me. My email address is abezab at gmail.

5. Organized Play rules: - I read these awhile ago, when I first tried (and failed) to wrap my head around PACG. Will need to reread. I thank you all in advance for your patience.

6. Starting Deck: Question #3 - so I don't have the first clue how to approach this. Any suggestions/advice are very welcome!

7. Deck Tracker: So I still need to do this obviously. Question #4 Do I need to have my physical deck set up somewhere in the house or can it just exist virtually? My wife will probably not be too happy about this (what do you mean you're playing PACG instead of cleaning out the garage!?!), so I would prefer to keep it virtual if that's an option.

8. Turn order: I have no opinion about this, or any idea about what impact this choice will make. I'm very happy to go where-ever in the order the other players would like me to be. I'm located in the eastern time zone of the United States (I think that's GMT-5?)

Deck Handler Spreadsheet ; Chronicles Looking For: Spell 4 -> Spell 4 -> Spell 4 -> Blessing 4 -> Blessing 3 -> Armor 3 -> Weapon 3

1. You would need to choose an option now. I have actually played every fighter to some degree (Except Tontelizi), and can confirm they are all great. Flenta uses spells like scrolls, Vika is a blunt weapons master, Valeros is just great, and Tontelizi is absolutely awesome with polearms... it would be hard for me to decide which one is "better" as they are all great. And yes, there are no rebuild rules in PFACG.

2. You would have to verify ownership for anything you have, but you can use a promotional card from one of those boxes if it's for that class, yes you can add it to your class deck. The one for the Fighter deck is the Tankard I believe. However, you can't start with it in your starting deck to begin with unless you were playing Valeros since his name is on it. (He treats the card as if it had the Basic trait, which is explained below)

3. You must start with cards with the Basic trait (which is on the left side of the card's artwork), and on the back of your character card is a list of how many of each type of card you have in your deck. So pick some stuff with the basic trait. I know that the fighter deck has the problem of running out of Basic weapons, so if you happen to run out of Basic weapons (which means you've already chosen all the Basic weapons you possibly can), you can move on to any weapon that has Adventure Deck Number B (at the top right of the card) to fill out the rest of your weapon slots.

4. If you write down what your cards do and their traits (or take pictures, or anything else where you can reference what they do), you don't need to have your physical deck on you. Personally I like having the physical cards in front of me when I play but that's just a preference.

Deck Handler Spreadsheet ; Chronicles Looking For: Spell 4 -> Spell 4 -> Spell 4 -> Blessing 4 -> Blessing 3 -> Armor 3 -> Weapon 3

FYI, I played this guy in the same scenario as Lini. We played in the same game. I got: Spell B and Skill Feat (Charisma) from it, and those same traders. :)

So should be getting a power feat for this scenario.

I'll go ahead and replace my Eloquence for Remove Curse with the Sunburst Market so we have someone with it.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

It is early evening here and my FLGS has not contacted me about my UM deck. I'll know for sure by tomorrow night but under the assumption that a month was not enough time for them to get an order right here is my planned deck if it is just Lini.

Frigid Blast
Fireblade
Viper Strike
Cure
Burst Bonds
Sanctuary
Crow
Vulture
Frilled Lizard
Pearl of Wisdom
Amulet of Mighty Fists
Blessing of the Gods x4

And I would trade Sanctuary for a second Cure.

If I do have my UM deck in time I will trade my basic item for a Shock Lizard because I suspect I'm going to be losing my whole hand a lot and I need animals.

Hah, people are going to have to give me a few hours. I just woke up and there's a lot to catch up on already, but I'm loving the questions and interest.

First and foremost, welcome Abraham Z.! Happy to have you onboard, and I'll do my best to answer any and all questions you have.

First; if you want me to stay out of strategising as a runner, I will endeavor to do so. But I may be one of the few here with experience in the season, so I'll answer for the time being.

Remove Curse shouldn't be a big concern. Few Curses are really that bad (Curse of Vulnerability barely impacts most of you, being casters with few to no armor, Curse of the Ravenous means nothing when you're filled to the brim with Cures, etc), and they're not often given in B and 1 cards except from failing certain checks or triggering certain cards.

I'll be posting the scourge list in the future, so you know what you can encounter.

I'm a bigger fan of an attack spell or a blessing. If you think you won't be able to hold enough animals in hand, then the Shock Lizard (or Camel) is obviously excellent for Lini.

RotRL Lini wrote:

Just a friendly reminder, you cannot build your starting deck with Ultimate Magic basics if you have a pre-existing deck. You could start a new Lini if you wanted to, but you'd lose your 4-1A rewards listed on your Chronicle sheet (in-progress characters can't switch their basics on the fly...).

You could forcibly banish some cards you don't want mid-scenario, then replace them with any basic of your choice from your Class or Ultimate decks after the scenario, though.

This is going to be the most Cure-heavy party I've ever seen, by the way. Even if Grazzle only carries 1, that's going to be 5 cures for a 5 person team. I assure you the first couple of adventures of Plundered Tombs aren't that cruel!

Grazzle/Andrew answered your questions, but just giving my quick spin.

Valeros is my light recommendation. He's the easiest to play, and strongest in combat (with a high Strength score; something lacked by the party right now).
Vika is better at dealing with various barriers, though you may find that the Fighter Class deck has frustratingly few bludgeoning weapons for her.
Tontelizi is fun, but also relies on a card type that there just isn't that many of in your Class Deck (assuming you're not using the Ultimate Add-On deck).
Flenta is also fun, but somewhat complex. She keeps drawing and throwing around kind of random spells, and the Fighter Class deck has a limited selection to outfit her with. You'd need to keep track of a lot of changing cards to play her.

And yes, you can play completely digitally. My deck handlers just list the text for my cards so I can play away from my physical boxes, for example.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

My first game was with the Ezren pregen because I didn't own any cards yet but I knew I wanted to play Lini so I put Lini on the chronicle.
This will be my first game with my own deck.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

My UM deck is at the store. I'll pick it up tomorrow and send proof of ownership tomorrow night.

Scarab Sages

Just FYI, I've played 3-1E on Darago already (actually with Andrew's Arabundi Ranger Deck, IIRC) so i'll also be gaining feats at the same pace as Lini and Grazzle.

Our BR is verifying that we can use the Loot rewards from 3-1E. If we can, I'll replace one of my items with Game of Afterlife, so we'll have another way of getting rid of curses.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

I recommend Valeros start at the Brickworks with me. I want a weapon for Lini and he can either hand me a spare one he has and/or Lini can more easily pass ones she finds to him. And since his main ability is to reveal an ally to help with someone else's combat check he may as well hang out with her. Btw what is the adventure deck number? 0 or 1?

Confirmed that no less than 3 players have pre-existing Chronicle sheets, with 1 scenario completed each. Not what I expected, but not an issue in the slightest. :) Still waiting on getting the full PDF for this adventure, so I can double-check some precise rules wording.

And the Adventure deck number is 1, and there will be deck B and 1 boons and banes shuffled in. As a general rule, there's no 'AD0' adventure in Organised Play.

Oh, I've got the current turn order as follows. Let me know if you want any further alterations:

1. AAUGHWHY // Darago
2. Abraham Z. // Valeros
3. khazkhaz // Damiel
4. bigguyinblack // Lini
5. GM Andrew // Grazzle

Our BR is verifying that we can use the Loot rewards from 3-1E. If we can, I'll replace one of my items with Game of Afterlife, so we'll have another way of getting rid of curses.

Afraid you don't get the Loot items, due to the wording of the scenario reward which explicitly states "For the rest of the Adventure Path", so it doesn't take effect until we pass that point in the adventure.

Expect the first scenario to be posted within the next 24-48 hours; based on how long it takes the tool/database to be ready. Cards against Gnomanity does not formally begin until the 9th, however, and nobody is obligated to take their turns.

Scarab Sages

Unfortunate... That's ok, they weren't crucial parts of my deck. Thanks for checking it out!

Also, FYI, I'll be travelling this weekend, so I may be a little less active than I normally would be on weekends. I'll still check in once in a while, but I won't be near my computer at all times. I should be back tomorrow night.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Got my UM deck.
It will have 3 Blessing of the Spellbound 1 blessing of the gods because there are not 4 spellbound in the deck.

So
Cure x2
Frigid Blast
Fireblade
Viper Strike
Fire Snake
Immolate (Replacing Amulet of Mighty Fists at Sunburst Market)
Binder's Tome
Crow
Frilled Lizard
Vulture
Blessing of the Spellbound x3
Blessing of the Gods

And I'm really hoping to get spell 1 for loot.

Lini's deck Searching for: Spell 4, Spell 6, Blessing 6

Actually, Looking at the locations, Spell 1 is really unlikely. There are only 5 spells total and there is no guarantee we will encounter all of them. Or acquire the ones that we do encounter. A quick breakdown.

7 villain + henchmen.
16 monsters
12 barriers
7 weapons
6 armor
5 items
8 allies
4 blessings

So I guess I should create a short priority list for what boons I'm looking for.

1. Spell 1 Pyrotechnic Blast - Divine +2d4 attack spell that can be used for locks or obstacles.
2. Blessing 1 Blessing of Pharasma
3. Blessing B Blessing of Pharasma
4. Spell B Clinging Venom is a very minor upgrade to Viper Strike.
5. Ally 1? Wolverine might be a slight upgrade to Frilled Lizard.

Think it's gonna come down to "Figure it out" once we know what we're working with. XD

Since I chose my location and most others have too I'm gonna go ahead and draw my hand.

Still waiting on the database, and one player to choose their starting location.

Do be sure to state which trader you're going to before you finalise starting locations and draw your hands (Sunburst Market players don't have to wait for me to pull the boons - they can just state they've made the trade). Only Grazzle and Lini have access to Traders for now.

(P.S. In my opinion, Clinging Venom is a downgrade to Viper Strike. 0.5 less damage on average, harder to recharge from memory. There's literally 2 non-villain cards in the MM box it's useful against, from memory, because most non-villain banes with multi-checks to defeat are undead and immune to Poison... in fact, most of the villain banes are as well.)

Just to be sure, as stated above, I traded Eloquence for Remove Curse.

Thanks Andrew, I'd missed that earlier. When everyone has Traders (and loot), those decisions should be covered in Gameplay; but we're kind of running by the seat of our pants for the time being.

The database is largely set-up, but it'll be easiest if I have all player starting locations decided on before I finish making the game. Please indicate your preferred starting location in the Gameplay thread once you're able to, Abraham Z.

Also, whilst there is no formal requirement to do so, I do recommend that all players attach a read-only link to their Deck Handler in the Race or Gender sections of their alias profile, via "Edit Profile". That will allow people to see what's in your hand and deck easier, which is particularly helpful if someone's deciding whether to Cure you or not (since the summary doesn't detail exactly what's in your non-hand zones). I also include the card texts for cards in my deck in a tab of my Deck Handler so that party members know what my cards do (and so I can see what my cards do when I'm not at home), but that's up to each player's personal preference.

Ok, I think I've got my deck picked out (many thanks to Edward aka Lini) for helping me figure out which cards to take. Here's the list:

Weapons
Longspear
Longsword
Mace
Greatsword
Spiked Chain +1

Armor
Chainmail x2

Items
Crowbar
Signal Whistle

Ally
Night Watch
Quartermaster
Standard Bearer

Blessings
Blessing of the Gods x3

Question: What should I do with the rest of the cards for the Fighter deck? Am I correct in thinking that none of them will enter play at all, at least for this particular scenario?

Also, I've decided to go ahead and play Valeros. Besides the Character and Token cards, I have a "role" card that says "Daredevil" on one side and "Liberator" on the other. Question: Do I need to make a decision about which of these roles I'm choosing now? Or do anything else with this card?
[b]Question

I've just tried to dot in to the Gameplay thread with my Valeros alias, but it doesn't appear as an option in the drop down menu. When I go to my list of PFS characters (in My Organized Play), I see both of my two PACG characters (Darago and Valero) and I can click edit on them, but their names are not clickable the way that all of my PFS PCs are. Question: What do I need to do to activate my Valeros alias?

Question Are the instructions for using the Deck Handler somewhere? I can't seem to find them. I've got my 15 cards picked out (see post above) unless anyone suggests I make any changes (there don't really seem to be too many choices for Valeros actually) but I'm not sure what data I should be entering in the Deck Handler and where.

Re my Iconic Heroes promo cards that I asked about earlier - I checked and none of them are for Valeros so I think they are irrelevant for this game/character, yes? Question Does this mean that I should just hold on to them in case I ever decide to play one of those other characters and/or can I trade them to someone else who is playing one of those characters? (I have 1 each for Merisiel, Kyra, Ezren, and Amiri, and 2 for Harsk).

Turn Order: I have no opinion about this (really, no understanding of the implications of the choice) so I'm happy to go whenever everyone else thinks would make sense.

Starting Location: Ditto, I have no opinion (based on not understanding the implications of the different choices) so I'm happy to start anyplace. I think I saw a suggestion from Lini that we start in the same location (so I can give him a weapon?), and I'm fine with doing that unless anyone else has another suggestion.

p.s. sorry for all the ignorance - hopefully I'll get the hang of it after a few turns!

Scarab Sages

The rest of the Fighter Cards will just hang out in your box for now. They probably won't come up in gameplay for now.

You pick a role card later on; in non-PFS it usually happens after AD3. It may be helpful to look at them earlier though; that way you can start building your deck to work well with the role card you'll get later.

The Class Decks don't become aliases like the PFSRPG characters do. You'll need to create a separate alias for it: 3rd section down on the left side of your account settings

There's instructions for the deck handler in the campaign info for Flaxseed On Deck. I think there's a more detailed guide gloating around, but I'm not sure.

If none of your promo cards are designated for thr Fighter Class Deck, I don't think you can use them right now. Hold on to them for when/if you make other characters of the correct class

If I understand the Traders mechanic correctly, it gives you an option to (temporarily for the scenario only) swap a card from your deck for some other card, yes? But also that Valeros (due to being brand new?) is not eligible to do this?

Ok, I've read through the whole discussion tab and it looks to me like I've done everything I need to except (big except) actually load my chosen cards into the deck handler, which I'm going to wait until someone can point me to the instructions before doing so, because otherwise I expect I'll muck it up.

Scarab Sages

That's right about the traders: only Lini and Grazzle can go to them right now. If all goes well, the rest of us will get access at the end of this first scenario.

I found Cartman's instruction doc!

Perfect - thanks!

Question In the deck handler, on the "Don't Look" tab, I've entered all my cards by name. In the Card type column I assume I enter: Blessing, Weapon, Item, etc.? Yes? And what, if anything, do I enter in the "Adv. Deck" column?

Scarab Sages

I put in the deck it came from (so WCDB, WCD1,or MM). It's useful for when you've acquired cards during the scenario and you get healed. So that way you know what came from your deck and what came from the box.

So if all my cards are coming from the Fighter Class Deck, what would I put?

Scarab Sages

I would put something like FCDB and FCD1 for Fighter Class Deck B/1

Also there are blog posts covering basic strategy.

Oh goodness, a lot of posts! I'll answer a couple of points here, then I'll be posting the first turn of the scenario ready to start after I make this post.

(Cards against Gnomanity doesn't start for a few more hours, please don't start your first turn until the 9th of July, PDT.)

Whatever you want! The "Name" is the only important data there, the 'type' and 'adventure deck' is just to help you as a player keep track of what they are. Generally, the Type should be Blessing/Weapon/Etc, yes, and the Adventure Deck should be "B, 1, 2, etc". Right now, you should only have "B" cards in your deck.

Technically, you can leave the type and Adventure Deck blank if you want.

AAUGHWHY answered all of your questions accurately - I'm sorry that I was in bed at the time these were all asked! If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask them here or in the hangouts. Speaking of, we're still missing two people from the Hangouts, but I believe one is having technical difficulties.

Gameplay post going up soon, then I'll have one more important post to make in Discussion, about how we're handling the game moving forward. Most of you will probably see all this in your morning.
