This room appears to be the same building as the original teleportation circle; the walls are made of the same stone, and the same blue-white pipes line the ceiling. A teleportation circle is faintly visible in the floor. There are no windows, but there is a sturdy wooden door. The ventilation pipes near the forge are clogged with soot.

Among the weapon racks, Herodotus and Tomas find three crossbow bolts, four sling bullets and a set of steel cauldron engraved with images of charging bulls. Fatima's spell shows that these items also shine brightly with magic.

"It seems we are still in the tower. I'm curious if this forge is integral to the operation of the weapon; it seems strange to include an ordinary smithing shop in such a specialized structure." Can we make any kind of Knowledge check on that?

Fatima examines the ventilation pipes, to see if they can be easily unclogged. Is it something that could be cleaned with Prestidigitation?

Liberty's Edge

they/them pronouns

The pipes appear to be clogged with years of non-magical soot. A quick prestidigitation wipes it clear. The ventilation pipes, however, end at solid rock created by the tower's defense.

I'll say that it'll be a Knowledge (Engineering) check to determine the purpose of the forge in this structure.

It does. It is sitting in a socket but could be easily removed. An identical prism was in the room with the hound archons.

The shimmer of magic glints on some of the equipment buried under the dust. Concentrating and ignoring the tower's abjuraction field and the magical equipment carried by fellow Pathfinder, it's clear the magic comes from three vials, two funnels, a flask and the prism, with the strongest aura coming from the prism.

Slothsy wrote:

This is a sacred prism, as sort of battery capable of storing the essence of good for later use.

In addition to its use as a battery, a PC can use a sacred prism to augment spells he casts with the good descriptor, expending 2 charges to increase the spell’s caster level by 1, 4 charges to increase the caster level by 2, or 8 charges to increase the caster level by 3. A PC can also throw a prism as a splash weapon that destroys the prism and replicates a holy smite spell (Will DC 16) with a caster level equal to the number of remaining charges.

A PC can recharge a prism in several ways. The prism absorbs spells with the good descriptor cast directly at it, regaining a number of charges equal to the spell’s level. When affected by a channel energy effect augmented by the Alignment Channel feat to harm evil outsiders or heal good outsiders, a prism regains a number of charges equal to the number of dice the PC would roll for the effect. Finally, a good-aligned creature can grasp a prism and concentrate as a full-round action to restore 1d4 charges, though doing so also gives the PC 1 temporary negative level for 24 hours. Prisms cannot hold more than 8 charges.

Fatima is fascinated.

Fascinated:
A fascinated creature is entranced by a supernatural or spell effect. The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature's ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.

The creature's babble turns into discernible speech for a moment as its eyeless sockets turn to Tomas. From its maw falls the command, "Halt". It falls over the room with severity.

Everyone must make a DC 20 Will Save or Halt, as per greater command. Those that fail their save may attempt a new save at the start of their next turn.

Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Efffff! Why do the dice gods hate Fatima?

Also, wouldn't Greater Command break the fascination effect? Maybe the monster has some built-in immunity, but I thought I'd check.

Yes, you are right. However, you'll have to make the save again, as you're only immune from Babble 2: Electric Babbloo if you've made the save. For those halting, duration is 10 rounds. Keep in mind if you failed Greater Command, you have the save from the spell being cast, and then an additional save at the beginning of your turn.

The creature sees Vinnie's blast approach and dodges out of the way. Although its dodge is not fast enough to miss it, a field around the creature seems to turn the bolt at the last moment.

Ionwe feels the power of the command wash over her, freezing her momentarily before she manages to push through it.

"What manner of foul creature is this?" she yells as she raises her cutlass towards the creature.

"Cut this thing down!" she exclaims, and then drops her cutlass, quickly drawing her bow and letting loose an arrow.

Not sure if that beats the DC of the fascinate.

Huzzah!

Fatima snaps out of her stupor and springs into action. She casts a protective spell from her wand, then drops it to the ground as she charges into battle, draws her blade, and enhances its magic.

Standard action, wand of Shield. Swift action, arcane pool to boost wakizashi to +3 Agile. Move action, move into melee range while drawing wakizashi.

Incorporeal touch AC right now is 30. I would dare you to take your best shot, but we all know how that turned out with the arrow trap.

If he tries to make a melee attack against me, I'll attempt a parry/riposte.

Parry/Riposte:

Parry: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
If successful...
Riposte+Piranha: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 16 - 2 = 29
Damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

Didn't factor in cover from Tomas; if that hit, my buddy Vinnie gets all the benefits of precise shot until the end of my next turn, so long as he stays within ten feet.

Ionwe and Herodotus's arrows both rip through the creature, passing through its misty form and clanking on the ground behind it. The arrows lay covered in shadowy essence and a few holes dot the allip's garments.

Round 1

21-11 - Vinnie, Herodotus, Sihir, Ionew, Tomas, Fatima

Sihir and Tomas are up!

Sihir, remember that you have two saves versus the command.
