Fatima tries to finagle some more juice out of the machine.

UMD: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

Do we want to put anymore charges in?

Well, one crystal only has one charge, so if we can pull that one out, Herodotus will gladly pour some more energy into it.

As the Demon did leave before my post action, can i retract slotting it in? I'd have two more 1st level spells to fill more charges. Or just put more charges in it?

With the Shemaizian demon deciding to flee the scene, Tomas looks to the leader of the Silver Crusaders and sees the faint signs of life so takes the crystal he had hardly charged and calls upon Cayden Cailean's gifts to cast the remaining of his spells into the crystal.

There is nothing preventing you from taking the crystals out of the control panel. You're also welcome to undo that action.

Brill, so three charges, will do another negative level if we think it is worth it.

Herodotus blinks in surprise, seeing the demon simply turn heel and walk away from the tower. "Herod, you know, I really like you, but why can't you be more like Vinnie?" Frowning, the paladin ignores his sword for the time beign and checks upon the lady Zadrian.

Heal:Is she alive?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Putting his ear against the stgrongest portion of her armor, Herodotus is unable to hear whether or not she still has a pulse. "Companions! I cannot hear her heartbeat!"

Herodotus pulls out his wand of Cure Light Wounds and taps her with it, hoping it will stop the bloodloss and then quickly climbs up the stairs to contribute what little energy he has left to the crystals.

Herodotus can contribute 2 charges using his spells, and more if needed (depending on how many charges are in Tomas' crystal). If all crystals are at least above half their max, maybe we should fire the weapon.

Tomas's crystal currently has 3 charges.

If you have more spells you can use to charge the crystal, I don't think Tomas is going to hold it against you if you just go ahead and use one instead of him taking a negative level :)

I would if I could, but I don't.

Actually, the best I could do is use my Arcane Ring to cast one more burst of radiance into it, which would give it 2 more charges. Should I do that, or should I reserve it for an unforeseen contingency (since I could also use it for ANY other spell I know, but only once)?

Fire ze weapon!

With the luxury of time, the crystals fill with holy blue light and lock into the machine. When the dial is turned to arm the machine, the entire room crackles with a static hum and the same blue light radiates from the central console. The crackle grows every moment until the two firing switches and activated simultaneously.

Blue-white energy explodes from the device, sending a wave of light through the tower. The light is painfully hot for a second, the concentrated divine energy reaching exposure like that of the positive energy plane for a second.

For those spellcasters out there, you realize that this spell functions like a CL 20 holy word with some exceptions.

Vinnie, however, is buffeted partially by the winds of Iomedae's grace. His body locks into place for seven minutes before he is able to move again. Iomedae's wrath, even when he only receives the collateral effects of a blast meant for the demons of the Worldwound, does not show mercy.

Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Haha, really?
1d10 ⇒ 7

Final accounting - 32 charges in the prism + 3 charges from the UMD check - 2 charges due to sabotage = 33 charges used to activated the weapon.

Typically, the weapon takes 17 charges to fire at full capacity.

As you leave the tower, supporting Ollysta and bearing the bodies of two Silver Crusaders, you are met with cheers. Several scribes write furiously in a nearby tent and the air is filled with silver ravens, all bearing messages to the Pathfinder Society, other crusader outposts and Queen Galfrey herself.

The guard you met at the beginning of your adventure, Poppa, eagerly rushes forward and askss breathlessly, "What was that? What did you do? The tower sent forth a radius for bright light miles wide. Reports are coming back that all the demons it touched has been killed or banished. The wildlife will probably take a while to recover but this is a victory! A true -"

Ollysta cuts her off, her face bright despite the grievous wounds she bears. She nods at her Silver Crusaders and says, "Since the attack on the Starrise Spire several months ago, the Pathfinder Society has been working tierlessly to assist the people of Nerosyan. While performing rescue missions, diplomatic assignments and stealth operations, you Pathfinders have shouldered great responsibilities and realized even greater goals. I applaud all of you for your tireless pursuit in fighting for what is right. In this time of need, it is good to see a team such as yourselves work together to complete what was thought impossible. For this, Mendev—truly, all of Avistan—shall remember you."

Congratulations! You have completed your mission!

Success Conditions:
Primary Success Conditions—The PCs successfully complete their main mission so long as they activate the weapon in Ghalcor’s Tower using
at least 14 charges. Doing so earns each PC 1 Prestige Point and the Ghalcor’s Spellcraft and Mendevian Commendation boons on her Chronicle sheet.

Secondary Success Conditions—The PCs successfully complete their secondary success condition if they both activate the weapon in Ghalcor’s Tower using at least 17 charges and prevent Ollysta Zadrian from dying during the scenario. Doing so earns each PC 1
Prestige Point.

Faction Notes—Members of the Silver Crusade have an opportunity to impress the Pathfinder Society, the Mendevian crusaders, and Ollysta Zadrian through their deeds. If a Silver Crusade PC accomplishes two of the following four conditions, she earns the Champion of Ghalcor’s Legacy boon on her Chronicle sheet: use Diplomacy or nonlethal methods to resolve area A3, directly aid Ollysta Zadrian in her fight against the Shemhazian, activate the weapon within four rounds during area A8, or activate the weapon using at least 22 charges. Specific details for fulfilling these conditions are found in the faction notes section in area A8 on page 19.

You receive full XP, 2 PP and full GP. In addition, you receive the Mendevian Commendation and Ghalcor's Spellcraft boons. Silver Crusade faction members receive the Champion of Ghalcor's Legacy boon.

Okay, so the weapon gives out a CL 20 Holy Word with a DC equal to the number of charges you used (so DC 33), which, technically can kill nongood PCs who are 10 CL lower than it. However, per the scenario, the Holy Word effect is halved for neutral characters. In addition, if you put on one of the suits from the staging room, you treat your hit dice as six higher for the effects and receive a +6 resitance bonus to that saving throw. If you're all nongood and level 5, then, yes, it could wipe the party. Likewise, animal companions can have a rough go of it. So, there is a way to do it but the stars have to align really, really poorly.

However, if you have an evil aura active (from boons or infernal healing, all bets are off.

So I'm hoping you can glue missing limbs together with cure spells, or that Olystra can afford the Regeneration spell.

Herodotus carries his fallen, barely conscious commander, a pained look upon his face, her arm tucked under his. Hearing her speak softens his expression, slightly. "What's the matter dude? Your boss is alive... Sort of... The weapon is intact... Well, mostly. Repairable, definitely. And this woman here just told you you've just incinerated away a metric f@#&-ton of demons. Why in the god's collective names are you pouting?" asks Gamin after Lady Zadrian has been handed off to a qualified healer.

The paladin pauses. "Because Gamin. I could have done better. I let the Inheritor, my brothers ans sister and my fellow agents down in this venture." "Oh for the love of Shelyn, give me a break.

He turns to Vinnie and kneels. "I have let all of you down, but moreso in the face of what you have accomplished on this day Agent Imbroglio. I am humbled by your deeds and can only hope to accomplish what you have on this day. If you will please give me a few moments of your time on the way back to Skyreach, I would humbly beg of you to impart some of your wisdom upon me."

"This is so embarrassing. Seriously Herod; you make me wish I was silverware right now." There is a pause and Gamin mumbles: "Maybe he'll teach him how not to be such a stiff."

So I did a quick tally. Out of 17 arrows launched, only 5 hit their target. I'm going to just assume GM Slothsy is ok with me recovering 6 arrows out of the 12 that missed. Dicebot is a cruel, cruel god. But thanks for running, it was definitely a blast!
