Hey Guys,

In light of someone opening up and then closing recruitment for this and seeing a lot of good submissions for that thread I was inspired to run this so maybe some of those great builds can find a home. I know my history as of late for running games has not been that stellar but I've had a lot of personal family issues going on that have settled down and I'm ready to get in the GM seat again and I think this is a good way to wet my feet since these modules run pretty quick. I am going to warn you though: I am starting a serpents skull campaign this weekend and as such will not be on the boards very much after 4 PM on Friday. I generally won't be on on the weekends anyway so just fair warnings.

I have run Crypt of the Everflame twice before on here but never to completion so I'm eager to see if we can finish it this time. I am looking for players who can post at least once a day a meaningful post...don't just put up "I stand in the corner and do nothing" and expect me to be please with your contribution.

As for character creation specs please see the spoiler below. If you have any questions feel free to ask here or PM me. I am back to checking the boards regularly(at least once an hour during the day) so I will get back to you fairly quickly.

Do to a really busy weekend recruitment ends on 12/7.

Character Creation Guidelines:

Stats-I am going to be generous and let you do 2d6+6 for stats, roll two sets and take your favorate. OR 25 point buy which ever is more favorable for you.

Races-All core races are available and I might allow others pending approval but please ask.

Books-Anything Published by Paizo is fair game except any of the Occult stuff.

Classes-No Summoner, Gunslinger, Or Occult classes but every/anything else is fair game including any of the Paizo archetypes.

HP-Max HP at first level, roll after that

Gold-Average starting gold

Traits- 2 traits

Hero Points- I will be using hero points for this game. You all start
out with 1 hero point.

Silver Crusade

Let's check my luck:

Set1:

Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13

Set2:

Str: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
Dex: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Con: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
Int: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Wis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
Cha: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14

Most probably, I will go with Relic Raider rogue, need to figure out details before I confirm

Saw your post in the other thread, you sir are a champ. I'll roll my stats now and post some other more mechanical and backstory-ish stuff after. but for now stats. Im either going with oracle or switching up to magus or something haven't decided maybe neither time shall tell.

Either way half elf

Edit: My writers block is over! I finally have a brilliant idea for how to connect her backstory to this campaign

Here's try number three. :) Halfling unchained rogue if I can make it work.

Set 1:

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13

Ok, neither of those is as good as the 25 PB, so I'll be going with that.

adding in sticking with oracle, but going with the spirit guide archetype.

keeping the wasting curse, i keep thinking about it and although i don't like it it fits entirely to much. unless i can find something better for curses.

I'm kind of in the mood for a good old Dwarven Fighter...

not sure if it is a problem, but I played the first book.

Would this character, Zizi, a masterless familiar, or an elf reincarnated as a tiger be acceptable as characters? Adjusted to new stats of course.

Also, what lvl? Assuming lvl 1, but I can always hope for something better (lvl 1 gets boring after a few years of nothing higher).

I'm interested in this. I'll roll the stats later.

And just to make it interesting for myself, I'll roll them in order.

Yayy

Here is gold I for now.

Will adjust stats later. But the story is the

Character sheet

Background:

I've lived most of my life as experiment number 9, of the mad Shadow mage Archae Nym. He wished to create the ultimate life form. From scouring his old journals I learned of the many bloods and magics he used in creating me.

I spent much of my child hood under his tutelage, that is when he wasn't gone on one of his trips. Dad always told me never to leave the tower there were other mages around they were not to be trusted.

It was not long before we both noticed my body deteriorating, I learned to hide the black inky blotches creeping up my arms. Archae was angry and frustrated, those were the years he locked himself in his laboratory, I snuck in to see what was going on and read one of the journals on his desk.

Experiment number 9 is a failure, the vessel lacks stability. The body will be dissected when the deterioration reaches its final form.

that was the only part I read before dashing out of the tower. I grew to hate my father, reading his journals i learned more and more about how i was just an experiment to him...one of nine. I wanted him dead, but i was slowly dying even if i couldn't feel it i knew. I had to take care of my self, that's what matter right now.

I left for the town nearby, the same town i would spend time watching from a top the tower. I didn't know if i could trust any of them, so i stayed in the forest watching from afar. at first it was only for a few days, that turned into a few months, and further into a many years.

The towns people began talking of a Faerie Ghost Like thing haunting the forest. A girl with white hair, small horns, and skin like snow that would watch the town and those entering the forest. I kept my distance from them whenever some would enter, i enjoyed just watching.

Until one day, i entered the town. I was tired of living alone in the forest, curious about those around the town more so than jut watching from the edges could teach me.

Appearance and Personality:

Illya often acts the leader, she is confident sometimes to the point of arrogance. She can be both kind and cold depending on the situation. She has very little qualms with killing , viewing killing humanoids as no different than killing monsters. when it comes to opponents she is clearly stronger than she will often play around with them. She views her actions as just, and knows right from wrong saving her more sadistic tendencies for people very clearly viewed as enemies. Being the daughter of a powerful and old wizard she spent much time growing up studying magic and other subjects, unlike her father she is adept at manipulation. She is True Neutral, despite knowing right from wrong and mostly choosing right, she has a few less than kind moments especially when directed at enemies that balance this out.

Illya or Illia if you prefer can be spelled either way, last name Nym. Whitish Grey hair, tiny horns underneath the hair possibly from the dragon blood. Takes on an odd appearance, with pale skin due to the mixture of blood in her. Her eye's are violet colored, like her father who changed her to resemble some family appearance. Patches of pale grayish blackness, like ink stains on her skin cover her arms, she keeps them covered this is from her body breaking down. She is tall roughly 5'11 weighing around 110 pounds.

here is a picture of her general appeareance

Background:

The Sarna family has lived in Kassen for years. Triben Sarna is a member of the forestry guild. He works as a scout and climber. Ilessa Sarna is a maid at the mayors manor. For the last few years Rylka has worked as a barmaid at the Seven Silvers. During off days she spends time in the woods trapping game. Her father has always been secretly disappointed that Rylka is a girl, he was hoping to have a son to tech woodcraft to.

Lately Jimes has been teaching her the arts of pickpocketing and lockpicking. She doesn't want to jeprodize her job with the Silvers or her friendship with Asina, so she hasn't tried skimming change like "Short Change". She does, however, like to slip trinkets into her pockets from travelers as they leave town. Once or twice she's been caught, but she's also pretty good at slipping away.

Personality:

Rylka enjoys spending time with Asina. She sees the young human girl as both a younger and older sister. Spending time giving advice like an older sister, and taking advantage of Asina's larger size like a little sister. Rylka often eavesdrops using her small size and stealth to remain unnoticed, or by playing the innocent and convincing others to tell her things that they wouldn't tell others. She often passes these tidbits to Asina for her to spread, so that the blame never comes back to her.

Appearance:

Rylka looks like a young girl to the untrained eye. At just over two and a half feet tall and not even 30 pounds, her small size belies her nearly adult age of 22 years. When working at the tavern she usually wears a flowing blouse and skirt. When out in the woods she wears an outfit of leather breaches and pocketed vest. Either way she wears her dark hair in a pair of braids wrapped in a bun in the back.

Sorry I didn't mean to skip your post earlier...just blended in with everything else. I appologize.

As for your questions I'd prefer to stay away from the playing as animals factor that some enjoy in this. And yes level 1. If your looking for higher level play I might be restarting a rise of the runelords game which starts at level 11(book 4)...have to see how a few other things shake out first.

Nothing super indepth but something tying yourself to the town of Kassen would be nice.

DM Mathpro, I'm still considering what I'd even like to put in. I saw you banned Gunslingers, but I was wondering if you'd allow a Bolt Ace Gunslinger, the archetype that uses Crossbows, not guns?

That would be fine

Best of luck to everyone who applied for my game and didn't made the cut. I can assure that most of them were great characters and players, and it has been such a pain to have to pick only four of them. I can't help but root for you guys!

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10

Ooooohhh... that is tempting...

Set 1:
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10

Understood. Looks like set 1.

I'll certainly apply to the lvl 11 game when time comes. :)

well finally some time to get at this (though not much)

dice rolls:

set #1
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14

set #2
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12

set 1 looks good at a 39 point buy.

Those of you who might be interested I threw up a recruitment thread for my mid level Rise of the Runelords game. I know a few of you had expressed interest so I thought I would let you know the thread is up now.

Currently looking into a Life Oracle. Would you allow an Aasimar?

Yeah I will let that one in.

Ok, this is Daniel Stewart. Here is the alias for my submission, a cleric of Nethys.
Thanks

This is Illirio, using Set 2 of my rolls.

I'd like to submit Elias Two-Rivers, a human ranger. I'd also be happy to change his Favored Enemy from orcs to whatever you might deem most appropriate to this campaign.

In light of someone opening up and then closing recruitment for this and seeing a lot of good submissions for that thread I was inspired to run this so maybe some of those great builds can find a home.

Yeeeeah, that was me. Sorry 'bout that, you guys. The timing of suddenly hearing back from my reserve players was just so on the nose!

Best of luck on this game! It's a great series of adventures, so whoever's selected will definitely be in for a treat.

Budd the CHUD: not a big deal for me, I followed the discussion thread right away and knew that it was a possibility that you would close it.

We shall see how this pans out, and if it doesn't, well there will be other games, Goldi ain't going anywhere.

No worries Budd, it happens. I'd rather folks who applied to the original recruitment get first dibs at the open spots.

Love the avatar lol.

Thanks! I was looking for another one that I thought showed a half black and half white mask, but I did not see it.

Hey guys I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that the next two-three weeks are going to be interesting for posting. Next week is the last week of classes before finals so I have a quiz, two exams, and to projects due next week. I should have probably been working on all that instead of posting today but oh well lol. The week after that(the week of 12/14-12/17) is finals week and I have finals on the 14th, 15th, and 17th. I will more than likely be on and able to post that week between 1-4:30 CST but nut much outside of that time. Then my wife and I are out of town from the 22-29th and will not have internet access. So after the 22nd there will be no more posts from me for a week.

So all that being said do you guys want me to close down recruitment in the next few days so we can get started before my hiatus or do you guys want to wait until I get back and see if we can drum up some more interest?

I vote to finish recruitment soon and just wait to start the game until you're available.

i agree with Rowe, there's enough interest here enough to pick from anyway.

I agree with Rowe and Illya-Nym...it can let those chosen to do a little RP as well as learn the rules and finish off characters..just my 2 cents

i agree as well (have selections done before the break), this way if Goldi is not chosen, then I can look for other games for her.

Also, you could start a bar scene so the chosen can play while waiting for your return.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Agreed! I'd vote for a quick selection.
