The timing is European unfriendly :(

It is already late here ...

Goblin Squad Member

You taunt us so!

Goblin Squad Member

Am I reading the quick start guide right? In that the OR level requirements have not made it in?

Edit: nevermind, found it, not in

Actually my time will be much more free about 10 minutes after it gets posted... free to press F55 on the Install the Client page, at least.

Goblin Squad Member

I don't even need the blog just the client.

Silver Crusade

you lied to me

Only a little....

Pour more Panda blood on the Machine.

Goblin Squad Member

I wonder how many new people to Aplha have downloaded and installed the old client :D

Goblin Squad Member

I wish they'd taken the old one down.

Goblin Squad Member

Would be easy to make that mistake if you are not on here all the time.

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

Things must be pretty exciting in the GW office this afternoon. I hope we get the new Alpha tonight, but I also hope nobody in the office has a stress-induced heart attack!

Goblin Squad Member

Yeah I have no idea why they left the old file up. I know 3 people that downloaded it to try the Alpha today...

Fixed that for ya. Wanna bet folks there started feeling something other than excited a couple hours ago?

Goblin Squad Member

That literally happened to a co-worker of mine today. A client of his was having chest pains and called my co-worker to talk about it, telling him that he would wait until after six to leave work and go see somebody about it.

My co-worker, who has had a heart attack of his own, very calmly talked to him in a very loud voice to get off talking to him and call 911 and get an ambulance to his work site NOW!!!!!

Guy did and they took him to the hospital. Don't know the results yet since this happened about an hour before 5.

No bet. I'm all but certain they did.

Best of luck to the client. Severe chest pain is serious business.

Goblin Squad Member

It sure is, along with the shooting pains down the left arm! Guess he really wanted someone else to tell him to call 911 so he wouldn't feel like a wuss if he did it on his own.

just to be sure...water DOES eventually boil, right?

Goblin Squad Member

It boils at 8:00pm Pacific time, apparently.

Goblin Squad Member

yep... going to have to get ready for work soon 8(

Well I went o my meeting... then I decided to come home instead of go to the Coffee Shop that has faster WiFi for downloading a certain 1 gig file. No I have nothing else to do. Woop woop! 11 PM EST.....

Yes, and poking the pot with your finger makes it boil sooner.

Actually, adding a few boiling chips or a curved metal disk to the pot makes water boil a little faster (and more evenly), but then you have to make sure they don't end up in your dish.

Huh. Wikipedia calls the metal disk contraption a milk watcher. Who knew?

Edit: Okay, they don't usually speed up boiling, except when they initiate boiling in liquid that would have otherwise kept heating until it became supercritical.

Edit 2: Cooling liquids can become supercritical, too. Watching a bottle of water suddenly freeze is neat, and much less dangerous than watching water suddenly flash boil within splash range of your face.

lid helps - it keeps heat in so boils quicker and avoids splash damage

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

That too. It might even fractionally raise the pressure. Not as much as a pressure cooker, but every little bit helps.

Raising the pressure would increase the boiling point not drop it.

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

Hmmm, you're right. Never mind that bit.

It does increase the partial pressure of gaseous water in the air under the lid, but it also traps the heat energy. As water heats up, more and more of it volatilizes, carrying that energy with it and away from the rest of the liquid water. The lid effectively stops this process. (I had to look this up- its been too long since Chem 101)

But the time until -all- the water boils is essentially constant.

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

And discussing the boiling rate of water helps us avoid boiling over... With anticipation.

At least until it starts to feel like we're in a pressure cooker.

Too late. I can't find concentration for anything else tonight except the damned F5 key.

Actually, it's just that the blog is late, so the post doesn't exist yet.

I think he means the name of the placeholder, as the blog won't be coming in the afternoon at all ;)

Served me right to climb out of bed before 6 am on a Saturday to start downloading before breakfast or when my son is up. Aren't we all crazy ?

At least some time to catch up with the forums.

Wiigii! Saying up late pays off!!

Rotter's Hole is a fantastic name for a settlement of its kind.

Are there multiple effects (spells/tricks/etc.) to load into our spell books, holy symbols, rogue kits and trophies, or just one per implement, like in Alpha 5?

Does the game have functioning OR logic now, so that all clerics don't have to take the Glory domain, etc.? From the blog, it sounds like at least some OR conditions exist now.

CEO, Goblinworks

There are lots of wizard spells. I think one thing for a Rogues and a Fighters. Don't know about Clerics.

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

Excellent! Spell variety is a goodness. If at least one role has multiple implement-slot effects, then we can get a feel for how they'll work for the other roles.

I suspect the goblins have earned a good night's sleep today! See you folks in the morning.

Goblin Squad Member

So with all these changes I assume its a complete character reset.

Goblin Squad Member

Will people be able to train in Rotters Hole? If so, then not sure if I like it that low-rep people already get a "way out" for killing players, while all of the other features that should be the real incentive for PvP are not in yet: Feuds, Wars, Factions, SAD(Bandits vs Merchants).

I understand the need to test PvP though, without pretty much disabling your character as it is now, so I guess this is a case of a Rock and a Hard Place.

I think I am going to stay very far away from Rotters Hole. Which is probably something that people should learn anyway: to avoiod certain places. :)

Btw, love the name too. ;)

Look forward to reading the blog later this morning! And having a game to play in the early afternoon :)

Rotter's Hole is a cool name, but before the wipe, you will not find me there.

I will take little or no part in what amounts to Arena Style PVP. If I choose to play a low rep toon, I will do all of my killing in the wilderness and my socializing in Rotter's Hole.
