Finally
And you know what? Looking at my entry again after seeing 527 other items, I'm happier with it than I expected to be. And thankfully it wasn't paired with an item that caused me to second guess my rationale for voting for it :)
By the way, here's my item viewing statistics, for any interested. At this point I've seen: - my item once
- 528 unique items
- 187 items only once
- 154 items twice
- 144 items 3 times
- 37 items 4 times
- a mere 6 items 5 times
(Note that the graph isn't labeled right: the twice, thrice, 4x and 5x lines are actually 2+ times, 3+ times, 4+ times and 5+ times, not individual statistics)

In five days of voting (I took a couple days off this week) I've only seen mine twice. Right off in the fifth or sixth pairing I saw it, then I didn't see it for three more days and 40 hours voting at that time. Now it's five days of my voting participation and haven't seen it since.

I have seen one particular item at least 7 times. I don't vote for it each time because it is so bad.
So, has it been paired down to around 15 items, because that what it seems like in the voting pairings.

Second sighting of my item since voting started. I've seen many items multiple times. I'm tempted to say that a few of them have showed up at least a couple dozen times. Still, I'm getting unseen items from time to time as well, but not often.
I've seen no sign of my item. I've probably been getting in... 20ish votes per day on average. Someone told me they saw my item though, so no sweat. :)
I'm pretty hopeful.

The bottom 25% was culled today. Or will be culled. So get searching again :)
Oh wow. And here'd I'd just dropped my heart rate back to normal.
And again (after the culling)... Wesley is pleased.
Haven't seen mine yet, although I just saw the first item I designed for last year's RPG Superstar, which I'd tossed in the trash before entering something else.
Not just a similar item, I mean uncanny, down to the name, wording, and ordering of abilities, the fallback ability when it's not functioning correctly, and the pricing.
Did you share it on one of item that didn't make the cut threads?
You should definitely send Sean a PM about the item in question if it is really that close to identical.

Have you experienced any black-outs lately?
Toss it in the shredder next time :)

I am a Marathon voter, whatever that means, and I have only glimpsed my item once.

cwslyclgh wrote: Did you share it on one of item that didn't make the cut threads? I don't think so. I mentioned the core concept in passing when I blogged about RPGSS last year, but that's it. Its entire lifespan as a written-up Wondrous Item was about 6 hours in a text file that never got saved.
I think seeing it just backs up how generic I thought that first effort was. Not going to ring any alarm bells over it, it just gave me pause, like seeing the spitting image of a bad ex.

But, don't sweat it - we can hardly keep ourselves straight. and, you're welcome.
All right, just remember that if you create something for this contest and then DO NOT submit it, you retain the copyright for that creation, whether you ever decide to publish it or not.
Plagiarism is no joke and is grounds for disqualification from this contest...
I am constantly looking for items lifted from the long running magic item a week thread that I created on the WotC message boards back around the time of the 3.0-3.5 switchover... thankfully I have not seen any in this contest (both for me and for them, most of them would not come close to being a top 32 item). Though I have found some of them posted elsewhere on the internet from time to time with no or improper credit given (which i quickly correct).
Just saw mine. Almost missed it as I apparently changed the name at the last minute. Was a bit disappointed seeing it after all the rest, not because it was bad but because it didn't seem to stand out.
I still like the concept, but I think I made some of the same mistakes I've been judging in others. Seemed better than most, but not exceptional. It was paired with an item I felt was better than average but not great, which is about where looking at it honestly it probably belongs. Don't think I'll make 32, but there is always next year.
After five trillion items (I COUNTED) I have finally seen mine.
Of course I saw a sentence or two that could have been written better.

But, don't sweat it - we can hardly keep ourselves straight. and, you're welcome. Magical Beast's Mystical Jacob Sorter - 277 words
Aura strong divination; CL 20th
Slot Paizo board add-on; Price special, see text; Weight--
Description
This mystical sorter is a compass 2" in diameter with glowing arcane etchings circumscribing the face and a shiny brass needle in the shape of a yellow #2 pencil. It is always visible on the user's screen when trolling the Paizo boards.
Upon first opening the compass, the user designates one distinct Jacob per cardinal direction on the compass, but she must select a Jacob with the cute green dragon avatar. If a non-dragon Jacob is chosen, or the same Jacob is selected twice, the compass will explode in an impressive display of harmless fireworks and be rendered forever inoperable.
Once initialized in this manner, the compass needle always points to the direction of the corresponding Jacob for the post the user is currently viewing. If multiple Jacob posts are visible simultaneously, the compass defaults to the most recently gazed upon post.
When replying to a Jacob post, or attempting to send a PM, the compass insistently asks if the user is certain that this is the intended Jacob.
Clicking on one of the cardinal directions on the compass face automatically takes you to a customized chronological listing of all of the posts by the corresponding Jacob that you have ever read, with the most recently read displayed first.
The materials required to create the compass have no cost, but the scale of a cute, cartoon dragon holding a pencil must be crushed into powder to imbue the compass with its magic.

Saw mine my second day of voting! Haven't seen it since, so I'm hoping for the best.
Finally saw my item today, then found out it was after the cull. Hurray!
MUST BECOME CHAMPION VOTER.
I have just realized that I have omitted a word in the last minute reformatting of my item. Damn.
Mine keeps on getting sexier and sexier every time I see it.
I NEED TO KEEP VOTING! If I don't see mine after a while, I'm going to kill myself.
Mine made the cut. It's not so bad, but it could be writen better.
Out of curiosity, how many people made it to the top 32 and English wasn't their mother tongue? I know the winner of the first year was German, any others?

I can happily report my entries must be getting better !
I have just seen my item and after the item cull, so I am now a proud owner of a top 75% item.
So so happy :D
My item made the cull, but post cull I'm seeing more good items, which I suppose is the point.
Saw it again. Doubly affirmed!
I'm still in after the cull. I've even seen a couple of new items.

*raises hand*
Both Mikko Kallio and myself made it in 2012. Mikko is from Finland, I'm from Denmark.
Saw mine again, and it was still better than the thing it was paired up against which is encouraging at least.
Saw my own again, woot I made the cut, top 75%.
Happy happy Joy joy @@
Finally saw mine! My heart skipped a beat.

I just got the marathon voter tag and still haven't seen my item. It sure is good at hiding.
I found it!
Whee!
I was dancing like Chris Shaeffer's avatar!
Seen my item. I am also now noticing two grammar errors that I've made. I used plural, when I should have used singular, in a misguided effort to avoid assigning gender to my nouns. And I omitted a pronoun as well. Very poor writing on my part.
I finally saw it which is such a relief. The vivid colors it originally held for me are slightly muted - I've over-read it, stripped it down and rebuilt it, and nurtured each sentence too many times to remain anything but completely impartial.
Best Regards
Herremann the Wise
Just saw mine, about 269 votes in. I'm happier with it and more confident than when I submitted it, but it's not making the Top 32. It wouldn't even make the Top 32 of the items I've seen so far.
I'm now taking bets as to whether I'll hit Champion Voter or see my item first.
I just saw mine for the third time within a few votes of hitting Dedicated Voter.
I'm still feeling confident it will be seen and considered by the judges, if not advanced.
After having seen my item a couple days ago, I have not seen it since and am now hoping it was not in the 25% culling ...
I've been voting off and on since the first day as I have a chance and I just saw my item for the first time. I wasn't worried before, but I am glad to see that I survived the cull.

I have not yet seen my item before the cull or after. I am trying to remain optimistic that it wasn't disqualified or cut from the contest.

Woot! Still in. :P
We'll see how it goes from here, competition is getting narrower. Not sure if voting will be getting easier or even harder now.
Just got my second viewing. First since the culling (should we be giving that a capital C yet? :)
Onward!
