Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

lol-we more or less lost two people with a knowledge of medicine/physics :)

DM Z only please:
Hey boss I have a question re Heart of madness. Is it going to be survival-horror much longer? Don't get me wrong the game is fine but Reggie is rather unsuited for a high combat game and I am feeling pretty useless. One of the things I like about Cthulhu games is the lack of combat. Generally in Chaosium CoC if you get in a fight something has gone terribly wrong. It makes a nice change from traditional RPG's. So is Reggie a really suitable character for this game?
This is harder to say but I am beginning to feel that the players are getting rather overshadowed by the NPC's. I mean how many NPC's are going around with us ar this point anyway? Armitage and Cummings have the occult and scientific knowledges covered and the two new guys seem to be fighter types so what is left for the players? Anyway that is how I am feeling.

s*%* just got nuts!

Well Murph had decided enough was enough; too many bad guys and they were getting too close (and he majorly blew out the last SAN check). What do you want from a guy who is a dyed-in-the-wool cultist himself? ;p

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Reggie:

You're right this is not a typical Chaosium Cthulhu game, still I think we don't have many real combats (only two by now in 1k posts). The current situation was also surprising for me...I try to get this back into smoother waters, but I think it's pretty close to original Lovecraft tales like Dunwich or Charles Dexter Ward - which were also rather gritty.

Still, I agree when it comes down to the NPCS, but I felt like they had to be inserted after we lost so many players in the beginning and people became rather inactive.

Hope it's not too annoying for you, I guess things will get better :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Another very busy Blood Bowl Saturday- updates tomorrow!

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/8

*waves at everyone around the campfire*

Sorry I haven't been in to say much lately. Life's been keeping me a bit busy. Things are going good though... just busy. Hope everyone is doing well.

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

Well enough to be still around here ;-). Good to see you, it almost feels as if your and Zyrens frequent absents make the fire go dimmer...
Still, I'm going to sleep now, my days (and especially weekends) are quite busy atm (working t the draft of my paper for the master degree), too and I'm drained right now.
Good night everybody.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/8

:) I feel special now, thanks feytharn!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Oh yeah, the curse of Blood Bowl ...played 2:0 and 0:2 - nothing special besides a human team sending a dwarf team to hospital :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ HOL:

Harl, Flofer and Johenric: Level up!

@ Bilbo:

We wanted to invite you to retake your position in HOJ if you are still interested?! After finishing Hangmans Noose we are now at the beginning of Feast of Ravenmoor.

Dungeon Master

Does that mean Solaric as well?

Why that would be splendid! Woot on the level up, too. What class did you guys need Vidor to fill?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

No, Solaric had already risen to the level the others have now reached.

@ Bilbo: guess they could still need the original Vidor.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

We have all the main roles filled in HoJ: psycho über-violent preacher, sneaky gun wielding goblin, polite quiet yet dangerous ogre, pleasant yet slightly disturbing tiefling of uncertain morals, and motherly elf sorceress who we all ignore. What more does a party need.

Male Orc Expert 5

A hippie druid attempting to cool us all down through generous use of psychotropic mushrooms and "the leaf with seven spears"?

I already have one of those in one of my campaigns. How about a pacifist halfling cavalier specializing in non-lethal combat. That would probably fit in quite well with us.

Indeed, he can bludgeon it to the ground so the goblin can enjoy fresh meat.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/8

Ah, Spring Break. *sigh*

Grand Lodge

Solaric is currently Paladin 2/Cleric 3. I believe everybody else is now 6th level.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

I guess Solaric missed his level up then :) hurry up now!

Dungeon Master

No worries, he will be ready by morning.

I have had a Little Red Riding Hood character floating around in my head for a bit. Halfling based Cavalier with a wolf mount.....I'll read over the last several post to get a feel for the party and such.

Bilbo - Just play Vidor as he was unless you want to change. We have decent muscle - Jez(20 Str Fighter/Oracle/Cross-Blooded Sorc/DD); Ragnvald (19 Str Evangilist wielding a great sword); Attalas (26 Str Fighter/Warrior) [ooc] When was the last time your front 3 at level 2 had a combined 65 Str - especially when only one is actually a Fighter); Mobo (Gunslinger/ranged); and Nymeria(Sorceress/punching bag).

Another true arcanist and/or skill monkey would be best in my opinion. We have lots of muscle, but some buffing/debuffing would not hurt. Or just create a strange character that would not fit into any other campaign and have fun. That is what we do most of the time when we are not singing really bad songs.

Sounds good I will need to dig him up and get things square.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

He is good - or you could turn him into an Arcane Trickster or Arcane Archer if you feel so inclined just to be different. Either way, I look forward to having your voice in here - as fun as it is, there is only so far one can push Ulfen and Ogre poetry before it devolves into fistfights.

I'm sure I'll regret the pun.... but that's probably what they call beat poetry...

Is anyone having problems getting on the site? I can get in on my phone, but not on my computer.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

nope-everything works fine for me.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

It seems my IP is blocked at home - strange. Will try from work and shoot paizo's techies an inquiry. I may make some off color comments, but am pretty sure that there is nothing I have done which would result in the IP being blocked.

Heh. HoD has 4 posts today--that's relatively heavy for us!!

Star Voter 2014

Heh - checking the boards, I think the internets got broked somewhere round Paizo

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Apparently they screwed something up yesterday when they did a "software" upgrade. I can get on at work using AT&T, and on my phone (also AT&T), but not from home where my provider is ComCast. There is a thread on this with several people posting. Paizo is aware of the issue and trying to correct it, but who know what the source is or when it will be fully fixed. My guess is that a lot of people across the country, and possible the world, are affected by this.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

but not your malevolent DM harhar!

Male Pale Master

Ive been blocked all morning as well. From my cell using Verizon and at work using IE. Thanks to Zyren giving me a heads up about the issue I tried Mozilla Firefox on another PC and got on ok.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

pretty weird :/

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

If the other PC is set to use a Proxy server, that could be the difference. Annoying, but they should get it fixed pretty quick.

Dungeon Master

I can access Paizo from home, but no longer from work. I hate to say it, but this will probably be good for getting work done!

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/8

I've had trouble accessing it from my laptop all night and most of today.

Apparently they got it solved as I have seen a number of posts in the last few minutes. I am expecting a ton of things to respond to once I get home in an hour or two.

Hey just as a reminder, what was the character creation parameters for HoJ? I need to re-create the gypsy and I couldn't remember the point buy. Also, would he be more useful as a bard or wizard? I see several of ya have taken sorcerers.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 46/46 - AC19;FF16;T17 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Jez will never really be a caster. Yeh, she will end up at like CL 13 I think, but she will still be a front line fighter with a 36+ strength if all goes as planned. I say take wizard - although we are lacking in a skill monkey which the Bard would give us depending on how you mad him.

As I recall it was 4d6x7 drop the lowest from each 4d6 and drop the lowest overall roll. Just remember, except for the elf, we all suffer for serious cases of dementia. And we just ignore the elf most of the time - I think she is try to keep us from either killing ourselves or killing other people - not certain though.

With this crowd almost anything will work. If we need any blasting spells, we can always cast enlarge on Attalas and let him just cleave the whole enemy army.

Level 1 right? I will use the same rolls, but I'll just need to look back for the post from 6 or so months ago, haha.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

nope, lvl 2 :)

I could not find the original post so I am going to just roll up new ones. DMZ,let me know if this correct.

4d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 4) + 7 = 19=17
4d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 2) + 7 = 21=19
4d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 3) + 7 = 25=22
4d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 1) + 7 = 20=19
4d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 6) + 7 = 24=23
4d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 6) + 7 = 18=17

Bilbo Bang-Bang wrote:

4d6+7=17
4d6+7=19
4d6+7=22
4d6+7=19
4d6+7=23
4d6+7=17

Bilbo, you drop the lowest, thus:

10, 12, 15, 12, 16, 10 --> This would only be a 21 point buy character. What you should have done was:

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 2) = 13 --> 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 1) = 15 --> 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 6) = 13 --> 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3) = 8 --> 7
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 1) = 14 --> 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 3) = 15 --> 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 5) = 17 --> 14

I also think that DMZZ lets you reroll if your total is less than 75. Yours is exactly 75, so I would ask him.

Also not a great roll, but would result in a 14, 14, 14, 13, 12, 12 character - or a 22 point buy.
