The Wiki is not "quality controlled" by me. And since it's open to multiple people, and since those people can make mistakes, and since often folks add in bits that we've deliberately ret-conned or changed, there can be errors in there. As with ANY wiki, including Wikipedia. A wiki should be the starting point of research, not the end point.

The Shelyn deity article is the one that's more legit.

Just to answer the question regarding Alchemists and a Pearl of Power: Alchemists have the Boro Bead (UE p284), same price, same function as a Pearl of Power.

Thanks for the response! Your Pathfinder #64 mention brings me to another issue I have. There is a *lot* to Golarion for someone getting into Pathfinder this late in the game. I own the Inner Sea World Guide, but I'm not sure where to go from here (other than Elves of Golarion, because elves are the best). Are there any other books you would consider key to getting a decent grasp on the setting?

Also, The Prophecies of Groetus is an awesome item I might need to steal (though not for many levels). I love knowledge skills, and one of my players is a plague bringer who probably wouldn't object to a bit of madness in exchange for higher int.

At this point... there's been so much published about Golarion that the best way to tackle it is to start with the Inner Sea World Guide and then pick a region or topic you're interested in and then follow up here or on the wiki to find out if that topic has been focused on in a book or adventure.

1) 4606 AR. As recorded on page 37 of the Inner Sea World Guide at the start of the Age of Lost Omens.

2) We've not revealed the exact prophecy, but the gist was that Aroden would return to Golarion, and would appear in the city of Westcrown at which point he would usher in a new golden age to the race of humanity.

3) Also covered in the Inner Sea World Guide. There were storms all across the world. The Eye of Abendego formed. The Worldwound opened. Madness spread through the priesthood of Pharasma. All more or less during the same week.

4) It all happened in the same week. Very close succession, but not simultaneous.

Thanks for the info James. For with such info I may not know who killed Aroden, I do however believe I know the situation surrounding his death. So far I posit since a deity is safest in their own realm the seat of their power, it was an open secret that Aroden was to leave his realm and go to Westcrown at the appointed time. Someone or something or any number or variations of the above ambushed Aroden when he left his realm and killed him....... still not sure whom. But I think I am drawing closer to the answer.

We're never going to say how Aroden died. Or really, even if he was actually killed or simply died as a result of some other event.

Will do. Thanks again for the responses.

I honestly cannot wait for the Arcadian AP. Having studied a lot of the Taino culture and listening to my grandparents talk about my ancestors, I really hope to see some stuff from the Caribbean natives. Things like cemi (very much like manitou and kami), some of their pantheon (Atabey and Yucahu), and some of the creatures (like the toa or opia). It would really be a dream come true for me.

I am aware that he is ubiquiously referred to as 'dead god', yet all of the passages I remember that detail the events of 4606 more or less state that his clerics found themselves disconnected from their god, and he has been presumed dead since then.
Which may mean a lot of things, not necessarily including Aroden's death...

Okay James... trying to work out the Aasimar dilemma in character variations.

If you choose to play a non vanilla Aasimar (X-blooded Aasimar - Assimar heritage) are you able to choose Aasimar ability that has a prereq of daylight. Obviously other heritages have an ability that replaces daylight but can those Aasimar trade in the daylight equivalent ability... Such as +2 to a stat for their daylight equalivant ability.

Oh, and before I forget, thanks for your helpful answers regarding Alchemists. This thread is awesome!

A couple questions Mr. Jacobs:

First, with that giant mechanical monstrosity in the Inner Sea Bestiary (I don't have the book so I don't know what it's called) and now that Android race included in it as well, does that mean Paizo is ready to explore Numeria (or is at least close to it)? To go further with the idea, what kinds of odds are there that Paizo might, one day, release content for outer-planetary content? I don't remember which book it's in, but I do remember that one of them does mention that some of the setting's other planets are inhabited.

Second, if Deific Adventures ever becomes a reality (which would indeed depend on the success of Mythic Adventures), will there ever be content released on the Test of the Starstone or is that something that will never be touched on like the death of Aroden?

Second point five, if neither the Test of the Starstone or the death of Aroden will never get fully explained, does that mean specifics for those actually exist that you just don't want to reveal or are you just saying you'll never tell because you don't actually have any specifics (which is fine, either way)?

Third, what exactly happens to a dead deity when it dies? I recall that there's some wall in the Abyss (or something) where dead demon lords or some such get their divine essence gets stuck in when they die, but what about full deities?

2e) Yes. Keep in mind that while astral projection gives you some great protection regarding death and the like... it also opens you up to four particularly troubling dangers:

1) Your silver cord can be harmed by a rare few attacks; if it's destroyed, you die immediately.
2) An astral body or an "avatar" can be dispelled. A dispel magic can end the spell in a heartbeat, essentially knocking you out of wherever you were and back into your real body.
3) Your real body is defenseless. A bad guy, or a fire, or a collapsing ceiling, or any number of other fates can kill it easy if it's not defended. That kills your astral body too.
4) If you're not the one who cast astral projection and the one who DID cast it dies or suffers one of the above fates, you're stranded wherever your astral body is and can't get back to your body.

About astral projection, if you are out adventuring in another plane and you pick up some interesting item, what happen when you return to your body?

From what I recall of the 1ed version of the spell, it is left behind in the plane where you were projecting.

What happen if you write a spell in your spellbook? It last after the end of the astral projection only if you used a book and ink you had with yourself when you launched the spell?

It is a interesting spell but somewhat quirky.

You can only choose an aasimar ability that has a prereq of daylight if you can actually use daylight. One of the tradeoffs for getting a new ability to replace that spell-like ability is the loss of the option to take new abilities that require daylight.

That said, the loss of the aasimar spell-like ability in place of a new race trait does NOT care about whether you lost daylight or some other spell-like ability, so in that case, it doesn't matter.

The way in which we decide what themes and stories and plots and locations to feature in adventure paths are influenced by a LOT of factors. Feedback and requests on these boards are one of those factors, but others include (but are not limited to):

-Feedback from in-person chats with authors and customers at conventions or other venues.
-Requests from management.
-The nature of other supplements and books being produced that year (although more often, the nature of the Adventure Path itself is what determines what other rulebooks and products are produced in any given year...).
-The interest of myself or Rob in the adventure path. This one's probably the most important, because if Rob or I aren't interested in the adventure path, our passion for making that AP as awesome as it can be will be lacking. It probably wouldn't matter if the entire messageboard were clamoring for a certain plot if neither Rob nor I were really interested in doing an Adventure Path of that theme. Fortunately, enthusiasm for certain themes and plots and stories and locations is very infectious... and often, enthusiasm for those things is seeded by us in the first place. We're cagey like that.

Spoiler:
Was the alchemist Count Caromarc able to craft constructs by fiat then? I can't seem to find a stat-block for him, so that seems pretty likely. Really ties the whole "creepy castle" thing together too.

Nalthezzar from AP $48 was also said to be an alchemist lich. I don't have that one yet, but I take it that's another instance of "story comes first"? I do recall hearing that the AP was about a way to turn anyone into a lich, so that makes some sense.

So it's like a bless effect that only affects the allies who can hear him at the time the performance starts? We've always played it that summoned creatures or other late arrivals get the benefits of an ongoing performance.

I.e., if the wizard summons a creature in the middle of battle while the bard is performing, the creature's attacks get the Inspire Courage bonus.

First: Yes. I've been ready to explore Numeria for a while now. In fact, I first dipped my toe into Numeria back in Pathfinder #35. Then I waded into the Numeria shallows in Dungeons of Golarion. The robots in Inner Sea Bestiary represent the foray into the deep end of the pool, and I think that, perhaps now, the world is ready for a visit to the actual lake, or maybe even ocean. The odds of us doing more stuff with other planets again are 100%. One of the Reign of Winter adventures goes to another planet. And we've already gone to the moon in the adventure "Moonscar." We'll do more.

Second: I think that we can do Test of the Starstone stuff with Mythic Adventures, in fact. Mythic Adventures, if done correctly as I hope, WILL allow for demigod rules and stats, just not full-on deity stats. A big "Test of the Starstone" adventure is indeed something I'd love to publish some day.

Second Point Five: I have specifics for what happened to Aroden. While I won't ever reveal the truth of what happened, I do need to know what happened so everything else that takes place that's even remotely related to that event in the world makes internal sense. And the Test of the Starstone WILL some day be explored in print. Not sure when, though.

Third: That varies. For example: when a demon lord dies, it's life essence crystalizes into something called a Nahyndrian Crystal and its corpse ends up in an Abyssal Realm called the Rift of Repose. Some deities just cease to be when they die. Others leave remains behind and their corpses rot, as seen in Abaddon. Others might drift off into strange other planes. Others might become planets. It's something that we're intentionally not going to nail down as an exact equation so that we can customize things as we wish for adventures as we go.

If you pick up an interesting item while out on the planes and then the astral projection ends, that item is transported back to your body. Same for writing spells into your spellbook. It's a spell that's already relatively complicated, and it doesn't get better by overcomplicating it by forcing a player to keep track of separate character sheets' worth of stuff.

Does a 7th-level inquisitor with a Bane Baldric (UE) get early access to Greater Bane?
Dunno. You caught me at home where I don't have a copy of UE handy and it's not up on the PRD yet...

It doesn't look like you got back to this one. I too am interested. It has been posited elsewhere that since it gives Bane to a non-Inquisitor, it should give Greater Bane to an "effective" level 12 Inquisitor. Your take?

Edit: And if you still don't have your book.

Ah.

No, it does not grant early access to greater bane.

Regarding AP #44, trial of the beast, and AP #48, shadows of gallowspire

** spoiler omitted **

Thanks! I've been wondering about those ones for awhile.

I developed the first adventure for Carrion Crown, but not the rest of it, so I can't say for sure what's going on there... but the fact that the count can craft constructs is pretty much apparent. Since we didn't stat him up, we didn't have to give him the feat or explain how he gets the feat.

And alchemists can become liches. Their method of crafting the phylactery would be different than a regular spellcasting lich, though. It'd probably involve the need for a special (as yet undesigned by us) alchemist discovery.
