well then you forgot a few lines in my email... it should have said..
Dear Overlord Steven,
There was a part of the email that made me laugh *Though thinking about it, it probably should not have*
"Thereafter, things should return to their regular monthly schedule.'
*Giggles... goes into full out laugh*
Have you guys thought about looking into another printer?...this is not the first time you have had 'unanticipated' delays from your printer.. By now it should be 'anticipated' delays..
anyway thanks for the preview PDF!

Dear Paizo,
Please ditch the bloody Chinese (no offense) and switch to Eastern Europe. We have many solid printers that would love to work with you, and Games Workshop seems happy with printing White Dwarf in Poland. Besides, the paper will smell nicer !

Well played Mr. Mona.
Classy, real classy.
To those that are still waiting, I am pretty darn certain it isn't time sensitive. Besides that, from what I have gleaned there are additional tidbits that aren't ready yet anyway.
I'd love to set minds at ease by revealing it... But Paizo seems reluctant to do so. So I won't either.
While I appreciate it, it isn't "wizz-bang." What I mean is, don't work yourself into a frenzy waiting to find out.

The Legacy of Fire Player's Guide states:
Character traits
were officially introduced in the Second Darkness Player’s
Guide, and now you can download the character traits rules
as a free PDF, available online at paizo.com.
Can anyone point me in the direction of this free PDF?
Thanks,
George

EDit::: helps if I read.... look at Erik Mona's entry in this task, it should be up today, went into editing about the time that the emails went out.

No mail yet. Nothing in the spam filter either. Are they still rolling out?
I'm quite interestedif this good thing comes to everyone or whether there are prerequisites and what they are - and I guess the mail has that information.

No way, forget it! You ain't gonna get a free PDF before I had one. Otherwise, they're all gone before I can grab one. Na-ah!
;-P
To be serious for a second or three: I think it isn't available just yet, so we'll have to exhibit a little patience.

Hrrm. I have to admit these "good things" were a little bit of a letdown for me.
I understand the intentions here, but I don't necessarily appreciate the hype and fanfare that had all of us abuzz about something that I think a company of Paizo's caliber should be providing anyway. I don't see why this email couldn't have been sent out quietly without all the teasing that we were getting some great new surprise. The pdf we received is free, yes, but only if you aren't already a subscriber to Pathfinder Companions. And it's not really a month early, or a preview, since this is when the book was supposed to come out with anyway. It just seems like it's an attempt to preempt the hate-mail that's going to flood the CS forum when 6+ books are all shipped at the same time. So for a superscriber like myself, I get no real benefit here, except a pdf before the book ships (late) and a warning that I'm going to get slammed next month. Non-subscribers or non-Companion subscribers get the real benefit here, with a free pdf they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, but the most loyal customers aren't really getting anything. I understand giving the pdf for free to AP subscribers and to others as a compensation for the delayed schedule, but those of us who are now going to be paying $70+ next month aren't really getting a benefit here. Just those who have committed to buy less Paizo products, sight unseen, each and every month. Again, I appreciate the pdf now and am enjoying its content, but it seems to me that this isn't really a "good thing" as it is only necessitated by a month-long delay in printing.

First and foremost, thanks to everyone trying to make this happen!
Look, we're all huge fans and supporters of Paizo products, Paizo the company, and the people who make up Paizo. We should be able to rationally express our concerns without it being demonized as haters.
What I would very much like some clarification on is the actual extent of this problem. For those of us with the "Ship with Pathfinder" option, we have "#19 to ship around the third week of March," "Then, about two weeks later, we expect to ship out Pathfinder Adventure Path #20," and "Thereafter, things should return to their regular monthly schedule." Basically I see three shipments between the third week of March and sometime in April.
When is the #21 bundle going to be shipped? How about #22? I know the answer isn't known but please keep us as forewarned as is possible. There are ripple effects since although May should be a normal month, Summer starts moving us into the Pathfinder hardbacks.

Okay, next e-mail you send out (say, sometime next week) should include the news that you're going to accept PayPal payments. That way I can start up my subscription again! *grumble grumble, stupid bank people and stupid VISA Electron*
unfortunatly, they've said multiple times that paypal's method of authorization does not fit with their business model (primarily with subscriptions)

I'm not sure a single messageboard thread qualifies as "hype and fanfare."
And the point of my initial post was that if you don't have an account, or you don't have marketing prefs turned on, now would be a good time to change that. It was aimed far more at those people than at you, and I hope that it resulted in at least a few people who *wouldn't* have received a free PDF getting one. I'm sorry you felt it was out of proportion.

As you say, the answer isn't known; we don't have general dates until stuff gets on a boat in China, and we don't get firm dates until stuff gets through customs. However, at this time we we anticipate that Pathfinder AP #21 (and contemporary products) will be shipped in the middle of April, and #22 will be shipped in early or mid-May. We will try to keep each bundle separated by at least two weeks, though, so they don't fall on the same paycheck for most of you.

I already saw the new download, but I thought maybe the mail - which I still don't have, and I did check my spam filters - might explain why I have that download.
Can you explain to me how people can get the free PDF? Is it too late now if you don't have an account?

Thanks, that was meant to be more rhetorical in the sense I just hope for a good constant stream of communication.
This situation sucks for you guys too, so I appreciate all the extra effort you've put out to keep us informed and help alleviate the interim.

To the Paizo Team,
I just wanted to say thanks for the preview, and I appreciated it. I thought it was a great gesture of good will. I read through the entire thing last night, and I am anxiously waiting the first volume of LoF.
As someone that deals with China and customs issues on a daily basis, I can understand the slips in schedules, and sometimes these things happen that were not previously known. This can be extremely fustrating for all involved. I know without a doubt, that the Paizo team is working product schedules on a daily basis, and the slip is not due to a lack of effort. While I am disappointed in the schedule slip, a couple of months from now, this will be ancient history.
I do appreciate the continuous updates on the production schedule, and as someone that visits the site just about every day, I think the communication flow is very good. I realized early on that with the schedule slip we are going to be looking at 2 shipments back to back. I also understand that the economy is very tight, and I am pleased to see that Paizo is sensitive to that and tries to keep multiple shipments from hitting the same paycheck. I can not say the same for other companies.
Vic, I appreciate the teasers, and I do look forward to more good things to come!
Cheers!

I know, I know, I just wanted to gripe about it a little. ;-)
I was a charter superscriber until my bank decided to cancel my VISA card (for reasons I had no control over), so I'm just miffed that I'm missing out on my Pathfinder addiction. That's why it's doubly frustrating when you get served up such a tasty treat!
So to treat my addiction, I've resorted to starting a Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard army... Mmmmm, addiction.

All I can tell you is that the same process that gave you the download also sent you the e-mail. Perhaps your ISP has a spam filter you don't know about?

As mentioned in the first post in this thread, you needed to have an account with the marketing prefs set appropriately at the time the e-mail was sent. Other factors determined which of five e-mails you got, but they all included the free PDF.

No, the second darkness companion wasn't free. And no other part book from the companion line has been free.
And the legacy of fire compainian is twice as long as the rise of the runelords and crimson throne teaser booklets.
