No, the second darkness companion wasn't free. And no other part book from the companion line has been free.
And the legacy of fire compainian is twice as long as the rise of the runelords and crimson throne teaser booklets.
I think Andrew is referring to the fact that, as a superscriber, he'd get the pdf for free when his subscription copy shipped in any event, this is just giving him his stuff early.

A point i entirely misses, my mistake, none the less, many of us are not super subscribers, i certainly could not affort to be. So this really is a fairly big deal for us.

It kinda was: If you subscribed to Pathfinder, that one was a freebie to ease the transition between the free player's guides and the companions.

You just need a Companion subscription to get free companion PDFs.
All I can tell you is that the same process that gave you the download also sent you the e-mail. Perhaps your ISP has a spam filter you don't know about?
How would I know? ;-P
I don't think an ISP could even block email going through an independant account.
The email guys (GMX) do have a spam filter, but I checked that one. I also checked my browser/mail proggie's filter.
As mentioned in the first post in this thread, you needed to have an account with the marketing prefs set appropriately at the time the e-mail was sent.
Ah, so someone who doesn't have an account yet cannot be baited into getting one with that PDF, yes?
Other factors determined which of five e-mails you got, but they all included the free PDF.
Well, I got the PDF.
Since I didn't get the mail, can someone fill me in what all this talk about shipping delays is about and what the mail told me I should do about it?

Hey, KaeYoss, Here is the applicable portion of the email.
"We currently expect Pathfinder #19 to ship around the third week of March due to unanticipated delays with our printer. Two other Pathfinder-related books, Pathfinder Companion: Legacy of Fire and Pathfinder Chronicles: Dark Markets, a Guide to Katapesh, will be arriving at the same time.
Then, about two weeks later, we expect to ship out Pathfinder Adventure Path #20, Pathfinder Module E2: Blood of Dragonscar (by Keith Baker!), and Pathfinder Chronicles: Dragons Revisited. Thereafter, things should return to their regular monthly schedule.
IMPORTANT!
If you currently have your subscription preferences set to "Hold for Monthly Shipment," all of the above products that you subscribe to will be billed and fulfilled in a single shipment when Pathfinder #20 arrives. If you have your preferences set to "Hold for Pathfinder," you will receive your subscription products in two shipments, divided as noted above. Please check your settings here to make sure you're set to receive these books the way you prefer."
I hope this helps.
Just my 2 cp.

I've been through my Account, and My Subscriptions, but can't find where I change preferences to ship 19 and 20 together.
I can change shipping address, and credit card details, and shipping method, but no option for shipping timing.
Does this only apply to those who subscribe to multiple lines?
Click "My Account" and click "My Subscriptions"(yes, the bold title is a link...), that takes you to a page listing the shipping options, and the last/next issues of your subscribed lines to ship.
My Question is, do I set it to "ship once a month" now, or a few days into March....I don't fancy paying p&p on justOutlaws of Mars....

Yes—you only have options if you subscribe to multiple lines. That's part of why there are five different e-mails—we only gave those instructions to those people that they're applicable to.
If you subscribe only to one product, that product always ships separately, as it arrives.

I can't advise you on gmx.de specifically, but I do know that some mail servers will immediately discard e-mail that they think is spam before the sending server even closes the connection. The conversation would go something like this:
us: I have a message for one of your users.
them: Cool. Go ahead.
us: [message]
them: I totally think that message was spam. I'm throwing it away. Bye now!
Presumably, servers that do that assume that telling *us* they did it absolves them of having to tell *you* that they did it, but given that this is happening in the middle of about 100,000 similar conversations, we're not going to notice.

I am at GMX, too, and I got my email. AFAIK, GMX never rejects a message without telling the user about it. All messages classified as spam are collected in a special spam folder, and the user gets a daily message containing sender and subject of every spam email collected on that day.

Yeah. Once per day, you get a "X new messages in your Spam Folder" message.
I think I didn't get the Christmas Card, either, but I'm not sure about that any more. I certainly didn't get it at the same time as everyone else and had to hunt down that picture everyone was talking (or bellyaching) about.

Do you get the weekly newsletters and the press releases (like the RPG Superstar updates)? I see we send them to you...
Your copy of the e-mail was sent at 04:35:36 PM Pacific on the 19th.

There's a weekly newsletter?
No, I don't get that one.
OK, now that's weird. Your privacy settings indicate that you should be getting the "This Week at Paizo" email every week. It looks like that specific mailing has never bounced for you.
If you receive ordinary order confirmation emails, then perhaps you're not receiving the other emails because order confirmation emails are plain text, and the weekly newsletter and the "good things" email have fancier HTML formatting.
They are sent as properly formed multipart mime messages, with a plain text variant, so as far as I know they meet all applicable RFC specifications. But perhaps your email client, or your ISP, or a spam filter somewhere in the chain, is rejecting mail with HTML attachments.

Umm, wow. There's a weekly newsletter? How long has that been going on? I've never recieved one, yet I do recieve all my reciepts from Paizo. And I've checked and my settings do allow for emails.
So add me to the mystery, but mine is a yahoo account. I've checked the spam folder, nothing there either.

I've been receiving the "This week at Paizo" newsletters, but I haven't gotten anything else through email. I don't know if this is becuase I'm not a subscriber (wife's getting a job... so hopefully that'll change) or something else.
Either way I think it's neat the amount of effort the folks at paizo are putting into building a base of costumers. From the playtests, to the web enhancments and quick replies to inquiries, it seems to be a lot of what many people in the business world have been forgetting about building up costumer loyalty, and long term "umph".

Maybe we should try another email address. I've got plenty.
