I'm really looking forward to this. Backing on kickstarter and hoping it gets funded.

Already a backer. I really, really want this to fund. I am a fan of both Spelljammer and Dragonstar and support every project that will help me as a GM recreate these settings in Pathfinders.

Thanks for the kind words! Don't forget to share the link to the Kickstarter with any friends you might feel are interested. We have a very strong chance of funding still and it's going to take everyone interested helping out to make that happen :)

Yes, share, share, share! Let's get this baby funded!

"What do we want?" Aethera! Space combat! New races, classes, monsters, and more!

"When do we want it?!" Now! But I can totally wait till 2016 to get it. :)

Well when blowing up someone's space vessel, does it really take that much more effort to follow proper manners?

Sorry if this comes across as pushy. I meant no offence.

;)

Also - we have a discussion thread, in case anyone has any questions. ^_^

And some free violent polite space stuff to be had. :)

I know time is short, but I was surprised not to get any Kickstarter updates from you all in the last day since I pledged myself..:

I wonder if it's maybe worth doing a good solid shout out to all your current supporters, with an easy embedded link so they can share and promote the last stages?

I want to see Aethera funded as well, but it seems these days it definitely takes an all-out, collective, full-court press, especially near the buzzer.

Good luck!

This needs to fund. Even if you have no intention of using the setting as is; if Iron Gods left you wanting more you need to back this project. I backed Sailing the Sea of Stars and Legendary Planet. I bought "It Came from the Stars!" and this is one more piece of the puzzle that needs to happen. Iron Gods was my favorite AP and left me wanting more. This is the next fix I want and need for that. I know I am not the only one.

Tonight (11/19) we have two events where you can ask Robert Brookes, Lead Developer and Designer of Aethera, about combining sci-fi and fantasy elements in RPGs.

At 8pm EST the team will be on the RPGNet Q&A: http://tinyurl.com/rpgnetchat

At 9pm EST: We'll also be doing a Twitter #RPGChat about mixing science fiction and fantasy in RPGs. We'll be tweeting with the @AetheraRPG account and Robert will be using his @Sphynxian account. I encourage all of you to join if you can. It's at 9pm EST for 1 hour.

Some basics on Twitter chats:
1) Use the hashtag #RPGChat in every tweet and reply.
2) Retweet stuff that you think is cool.
3) Check out TweetChat (http://www.tweetchat.com/) for ease of chatting. If you have Hootsuite, TweetDeck, or any other twitter feed manager you can follow the #RPGChat hashtag.

What questions do you have?

Keep it coming, I am extremely anxious to see this fund.

We're in the home stretch, and the goal is within sight! If you haven't checked out the Preview Guide yet, there's still time to do so, and to pledge to the Kickstarter. We appreciate everyone's help in making this project a success!

Less than 10k left. The last two days have been huge! We're super close to getting this made and I can't wait to show people more about this campaign setting as it enters development. Share it around to whomever you can and help us wrap this up! :)

Less than 48 hours left to go on the Aethera Kickstarter and we're only $7.5k away from our goal! In the past 2 days we've raised nearly $11k so this is more than doable. You can make this happen! Please pledge and share this with your friends!

Perhaps rename "future kineticist" to "chronokineticist" to keep the greek names?

Sorry - quirk of editing. ^_^

That passage was intended to read as "those who will become kineticists". We don't have plans to create kineticists who manipulate time.

Yet.

Aww... I was sincerely hoping this was a misnamer rather than a quirk then :D

Keep up the good work! I pledged yesterday and I'm refreshing that kickstarter page like a madman...

I got a feeling that perhaps Eberron inspired this setting: the century long war, the warforged/phalanx, the shifter/infused, even the changeling/okanta (with their ability to mimic others) parallelisms, music as a major role that reminds me of the eberronian "songs of creation", and a certain moon that just disappeared and nobody knows where it is now!
Also, Eberron is set in roughly 19th century Europe "magitech wise", and Aethera is just ahead in the 1920...

Mind you, this is not a bad thing, just a curiosity, Eberron is my favorite setting and I'm looking forward to its spiritual heir, whether this was intentional or not. The similarities pretty much end here, and it's interesting to see how warring factions unite under threat of imminent disaster rather than just settle for an uneasy peace, can't wait to read more about the setting history.

We are in the last 200 dollar stretch. If you want to get an extra printed copy come and up your pledge. Or if you just want to see it fund. Any support is appreciated!

Funded!! Congratulations Robert and team!

We just passed $50,000! Barring some last-minute catastrophe, Aethera will be coming your way soon!

Let there be dancing in the streets! Aethera is now officially cleared for take off! It's happening, my checking account is whimpering, but I look forward to what this project will bring to the table. I've been waiting for something like this to come along for so long it's really not funny. Congratulations and thanks to the folks bringing this about and everyone else that is backing this in additional to my own crazy furry self.

Guess it's time for me to start figuring how to stat up Aethera equivalents of an Eradicator (Toproktin design), Aurora Chair, Hynerian ThroneSled,...

Anyone know if available to order from FLGS?

joela wrote:

If you're talking about the Aethera Campaign Setting, maybe - I'll have to check with Mr. Brookes about that.

This document only exists in PDF, though - no print copies were made. You could try a Kinko's or similar print shop. If they ask for permission, I'm sure we can arrange that.

I hope this helps. ^_^

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Print copies of the campaign setting will be available next year (once we're finished making it!) We're looking at distribution options for FLGS availability.

I work for one FLGS which is also down the street from another. The other one is is more RPG oriented and is likely to have third party Pathfinder products but I haven't seen many make it to their shelves. The one I work for has had a grand total of one third party Pathfinder hardcover on the small RPG shelf, but it's more focused on being a cyber cafe and Magic: the Gathering venue. Either way both instances lead me to believe that third party products have a hard time finding thier way to FLGSs so I have to ask, how do you guys keep visibility with them. I'll copy paste this in a thread in the third party subforum because the question should be directed to most publishers that have actual print runs.

Have no fear, you'll be able to buy this stuff through Paizo or wherever shortly after it becomes available to the those of us who got in on it during the Kickstarter.

Edit: Actually, you might have an easier time of it. Everyone that KSed it will get tantalizing, teasing little glimpses emailed to them... kinda like little kids who get hints about their Christmas presents for months before the big day. ARGGGGGH!

I know how this works with KS projects. Anyway I'm looking forward to this getting released!
