Professor Lorrimor, the renowned investigator and arcanist, has died. You came to his home in the town of Ravengro to pay your respects, but quickly discovered there was more to the wily old man's death than met the eye...
Hi folks. I have an unfortunate announcement to make, and that is that I think I am going to have to put this game on hiatus.
I work in a small consulting company which my dad founded with me around a decade ago. Over the years lots of things have changed and we're now big enough that we're employing a whole bunch of people. My dad works as the MD, while I look after all the back-office stuff.
On his last trip to the Solomons (most of our work is in the Pacific), dad caught dengue fever. The bottom line is that he will be out of action for 2-3 months, during which I will have to step up and run a lot more things than usual. I'll also have to start working on client delivery stuff, which I usually don't touch with a 40-ft. barge pole.
This makes my ability to post rather erratic, as instead of writing game posts on the train in the morning, I'm now reviewing emails and writing reports. Or I'm doing that at home, at night, and wake up so wrecked in the morning that composing a sensible message at 6am is beyond my diminished cognitive capabilities.
So rather than put you all through 8-10 weeks of posts of erratic timing and dubious quality, I think it would be better to draw a line in the sand and just stop, for now.
If you would like, if/when I have an opportunity to return to the role as GM of this game, I'll get in touch and see if you're still available. One thing I will consider is whether to run the game episodically, with breaks in between, but I'll have to think more on figuring out how that would work in practice.
Until then, it's been awesome playing with you guys and I hope you've had fun. I've learned a lot from you, and had fun along the way as well, so thank you very much for all your hard work that has made this game what it is. I really appreciate all the effort you all put into your characters.
My apologies again--but hopefully I will be back sometime to resume the adventures of this rag-tag bunch of misfits. : ) Please let me know whether or not you'd like me to PM you when I have an opportunity to get the show back on the road.
Thanks, Mike! It's been really fun and no worries on this--if you get it up and running at some point, I'll be ready whenever you are. For now, good luck with everything at work. I hope you get a little time to yourself. Also, I hope your dad gets better soon.
Thanks again for everything--I know it takes a lot of time and effort to run a game.
My sadness at this announcement is in direct response to your skills as a GM. It's been fun, and the game has been enjoyable. I think you've done an excellent job.
Family and sanity first, my man. No apologies and no regrets. I'll definitely be around so feel free to drop me a PM when you manage to catch your breath.
No worries. To be honestly, I've been expecting a hiatus or something for a while now because of all the work that you've had to deal with. Like everyone else is saying: family and sanity first. I hope that your father gets better soon.
Plus, GMing isn't fun if you're having to stress yourself out to get it done. Don't force yourself!
I'll try and be ready to jump back in, but honestly breaks make it difficult for me to keep Theron's actions/personality consistent. We'll see how it works out.
Been a while...work has been flat out. Oh, and I ended up in hospital a couple weeks ago with a pseudo heart attack. So yeah. That was fun. : \
My dad is recovering well, and back at work part time (but generating more work while he's at it!) so things have not slowed down any. Still, it's Easter, so I have a couple of days off. Well, that just translates into 'I only have to work in the evenings', but it's better than nothing. : )
In two or three weeks, I will be rotating out of my RL group's GM chair, so I'll get some time back, but probably not enough yet to give this game the right attention.
I hope you're all spending time with family and friends during Easter. Have a good one. : )
Hey everyone. Still here. Still stupid busy with work. How are you all doing? Anything exciting happening?
The 'heart attack' I had has turned out to (theoretically) be my oesophagus trying to strangle itself, so that's good news, on balance. Work is even more crazy, we've landed a couple of new jobs lately and are on the lookout to hire four new people in the next three months; we currently employ twelve, so that's a fair expansion.
Otherwise, just the usual life challenges of having a young family and a garden that needs more attention than I can give it. : )
Hi everyone. Still alive. Still doing crazy stuff at work. Fortunately still have a family to come home to and relax. : )
How is everything with you? Are you all (except for Helaman) enjoying your northern hemisphere warmer weather?
If I can get on top of my workload in the next couple of months, there's a good chance I will be able to carry on with this PbP around the end of July. Let's see how things go shall we? If you're no longer interested, let me know. : )
In roleplaying news, I'm playing through Age of Worms, and we're partway into The Three Faces of Evil. I'm playing an urban barbarian/invulnerable rager and finding it quite fun. So far he's dropped into unconsciousness twice from his rage ending, and managed to kill one boss by riding him down a 60ft drop, which both he and my character survived, and then rolling over and dropping a double axe handle on his head.
Anyone else have any nifty stories from any PbPs or RL games they're playing in at the moment?

Any of you guys play Mage Knight? Really fun board game, and the best part is that (when you're like me and some of you guys and have kids and it's tough to get together with your gaming group very often) there are different scenarios, some of which are really fun solo games.
My high score is 241 in solo conquest so far. Beat that, suckas! ;-)
Glad to hear your doing good Cyn! And crazy work is definitely a pain.
And to heck with this warm weather. I like a nice warm 60 to be my high weather, lol.
My 17th level rogue in the VTT Savage Tide game I'm in died...again. And this time for real. As I said on my Facebook page...

Oh, and just to clarify, it took a named demon death knight blackguard antipaladin stalker assassin thing to take him down, while in the abyss, in an abyssal prison, with the cleric a no show, unable to heal, and the paladin busy playing with her toy to take me down. And she had to sneak attack me from invisibility to do it. And I STILL almost came back via the River Styx. To me, that's still a win.
Oh, and she used some kind of Con draining poison. Which is actually what did him in.

Used to play a clix game called Mage Knight. Didn't know they made it into a board game. Might have to look for that at some point.

Yeah, Wizkids actually makes the game, since they still had the rights to the name Mage Knight and whatnot. And as a little shout out, the cities actually have clix bases. It's an awesome game, very well balanced and interesting. There's since been an expansion set too, which I recommend. A bit pricy all told, but well worth it in my opinion.
