Here are my thoughts on exploration:
1) The official Kingmaker version is detailed on page 57 of K1. The times depend on party speed. As we are riding horses, we have speed of 50 feet. That means it takes 3 hours to cross 1 hex with plains and 5 hours to cross all other types of terrains. To fully explore a hex, it takes 1 day no matter what terrain type
2) KenderKin suggested having a hex explored if we cross it 3 times. As far as actual time spent in a hex is concerned it roughly translate to spending 1 day there, so it is the same as exploring it fully. Of course to properly map the hex, we should use different routes each time. But for simplicity’s sake it is definitely reasonable assumption.
3) There is always the rule number one – GM is the arbiter and it is his game
Taking into account all three points – I wholeheartedly agree with KenderKin suggestion :-)

Here is updated map of Greenbelt.

I went through the Campaign Info tab to mark the known locations. I might have missed something.
Also I am not sure about all the hexes being explored, especially those to the left (northwest/west) from Oleg. Are they explored? Was anything found there? Please advise.

The map legend is:
shaded hex - unknowned / unvisited
unshaded hex - known & visited
red mark - explored hex
locations - visited locations / monsters etc.

I would like to add those strange flowers. I am just unsure, where exactly they were. Also, let me know if enything else needs adding.

If I post a "block" of text for the pbp that assumes more than one thing.Feel free to break it up into peices.

As an example my post of the kobold king going to get tartuk and the arrival there.

Although I posted it that way, any PC can interject to stop the king and suggest sneaking up on the enemy rather than en mass going to attack him.

I realize my post makes it seem that way, but I was trying for momemtum for an already slow gaming experience.

My goal is a good experience not an ubber slow nor railroad game!

I understand, no problem. I have little time during weekends as well.

The main reason I asked was that you posted in the discussion on Friday but not in the game. So I thought maybe you are waiting for someone or not having time for Gameplay post, as they take more brain time than discussion posts ;-)

Invisibility (the short and sweet version)

If you find some way to determine kind of where the kobold is, such as detect magic, some type of cloud of dust, etc you can make attacks with a 50% miss chance. Including moving around and feeling for him (it would be the round after if you found him while moving).

If you can pinpoint completely (such as through scent and a perception check) you can pinpoint and have no miss chance....

Perception checks are your friend, even if you need a natural 20. I will let you make an attack!

Loot Tracking Template Sheet

Instructions for sheet:

Blocks in grey are where you place the GP amount for the items you want to cell.

Blocks with the 0 are preprogrammed for calculation of SUM.

Coinage tab is setup to calculate all coinage to GP with proper equations in place.

There are individual cells for Item Total to be sold, Total Coinage Available and both amounts added together to calculate amount prior to distribution.

There are multiple rows for PCs and a Slot for NPC's to indicate where items are. (This became helpful in a Homebrew Kingmaker I was in as we captured some 40 horses and had to leave most of them at Oleg's. However each horse had different training and personalities which we kept track of as I was the party Cavalier. :D )

THere is a line for where the item was obtained as well if needed to keep track for GM purposes.

The above is what I do for fun, let me know what you think and if anything could be added or if it isn't needed. :)

Hehe, this is the work of a few months and a day of coding when I was bored. Like I said it was made for situations/games like this and I am glad you guys will use it. Saves a headache in the end especially if we have 5 of this 10 of that for sale. :)

Although I don't have the patience for that kind of stuff, I do web development for my day job. I've recently gotten off my duff and worked on my personal website and this is the result of about 10 to 15 hours of work. I'm still working on things, but the main thing now is to get content in there.

I used to be in a game, Legacy of Marinasu, here on the boards where my character dealt with a Contracting Devil from Hell. No fun, great RP but the contract was seriously detailed and its... Pitfalls were bad JuJu for me. However I was trying to do the right thing and was working towards the greater good. But the game ended before we got further with it.

Thats why the Legalistic Curse is an interesting choice IMO. :)

Asta, no comment on Torod's suggestions for the treaty (current and future)
1- According to our charter, we get to travel and explore. I do assume that rule will come after that, but that is not what our charter says. Making this treaty *is* a good idea, Torod is just difficult like that.
2- I don't think it can officially be a duchy, a barony maybe. At least at first. Though I'm not sure if there is anything actually keeping you from calling it a galactic mega-empire other than the loss of respect from other states/nations.
3- Tax them for silver and use some of it to buy trinkets to give back to them as a sign of your largess. Win-win. We can also use them to work the gold mine we found. Bonus!
4- Stroke the chief's ego and give him better title, High Chief, and make him responsible for the other mine as well or start a splinter tribe to play against this one if necessary.
5- The High Chief can send an ambassador to actually be at the advisory council.

Treaty:
Treaty Proposal

We, the Undersigned, agree to the following:

On Territory:
#1 – That the Sootscale Tribe be recognized as a Sovereign Nation under the Law.
#2 – That the aforementioned Sootscale Nation’s territory (defined as the Sootscale Mine, with the attending access to river, berry bushes and radish patch) be recognized as the Sootscale Nation’s sovereign territory under the Law, and shall be inviolate unto the Stolen Lands Group (and any later signatories of this treaty).
#2.1 – That, in accordance with the Law, the Sootscale Nation has the right to demand toll from any who wishes to cross the borders of its sovereign territory, as well as the right to defend its borders against unlawful invasion.
#3 – That, at such a date when the Stolen Lands Group has established a territory, this shall likewise be sovereign under the Law, and inviolate unto the Sootscale Nation (and any additional signatories of this treaty).
#3.1 – That, in accordance with the Law, the Stolen Lands Group has the right to demand toll from any who wishes to cross the borders of its sovereign territory, as well as the right to defend its borders against unlawful invasion.
#4 – That any future signatories of this Treaty shall be recognized as Sovereign Nations and receive the right to demand toll and defend the sovereign borders of their territory, which shall be defined upon the time of their signing the Treaty.
#5 – That, if necessary, all signatories of this Treaty may call upon any of the other signatories to assist them in the case that their sovereign borders are violated or under threat from any party, signatory or otherwise.

On Trade:
#1 – That we, the Undersigned (being the Sootscale Nation and the group currently known as the Stolen Lands Group) are engaged in exclusive trade, at price rates to be agreed upon at a later date.
#1.1 – With the Sootscale Nation providing silver.
#1.2 – With the Stolen Lands Group providing access to various trade goods from foreign quarters.
#2 – That this trade-relationship be wholly exclusive, allowing no other parties to be included, unless one or both parties formally dissolves it.
#2.1 – Should any party offer various trade goods to the Sootscale Nation at preferable rates, the Sootscale Nation shall offer the right of first refusal to the Stolen Lands Group.

Deliberation:
#1 - That all signatories of this Treaty shall be united in a Treaty Council, which will meet at least once a Year to discuss any matters pertaining to all parties united in this Treaty.
#1.1 – That every signatory may call for a meeting of the Treaty Council, should they feel that a matter has arisen which demands the attention of the full Council of signatories.
#2 – That all signatories of this Treaty shall appoint at least one individual with the rank of Councillor, with the rank, authority, intellect and wisdom to properly represent their Nation in Treaty Council, who shall be assigned to attend Treaty Council on the appointed date.
#3 – That each Nation be given full review of Treaty Council decisions, allowing each signatory’s government to ratify or protest its Ambassadors’ decisions.
#3.1 – That any decision made by an Ambassador which the Ambassador’s government objects to, be formally protested by the government in question before the Treaty Council before the passage of thirty days and nights after the making of said decision.
#4 – That all Ambassadors be given the right of safe and unmolested travel through the sovereign lands of all the signatories of this Treaty.
#4.1 – That all Ambassadors be excluded from toll in the execution of their passage to and from Treaty Council.
#4.2 – That any and all Staff attached to the Ambassador not be exempted from toll.

Whoops, sorry!

Well, the people at the trading post seemed in favour of a trading treaty, so I built on that.

Using the Kobolds like that seems kinda mean-spirited. Besides, if they ever catch on that we're using them, rather than treating them as full partners, they'll rise up against us, and trade would be disrupted. Better to get them to work with us than for us.

Your idea of getting the Kobolds to mine the gold as well did occur to me -- we'll need to get further in the AP and get some genuine authority in the region first, though, or so I think. It's a good idea! ^^

When we do get some power, I do intend to give the Chief a title. A proper noble title, so the Kobolds can mine undisturbed and they won't just get swept away whenever the people who issued the charter start paying serious attention. For now, the Kobolds are our only allies, and they're set to provide a valuable service.

Does all of that make sense...?
