So given that you guys didn’ t realize Carini injured the red bandit so badly I’m going to adjust your moves likewise . Hudor’s shot misses no matter unless he has precise shot. Carini drops red( after dropping her reach weapon and finishing him off with her scythe) Vulf ( I’ll move to a different location) still heals Carini. Kranzer attacks green without flank scoring a hit. Mentys ties up Kalkamedes and Farlen cast shield.

male Snows of Summer

Farlen I'm going to assume you didn't move in to directly down the path in the open line of fire of the slingers. The rest of you have lost site of the bandits in the bushes (no one paid them any attention :ie no one rolled a perception)

All the remaining bandits except the dead red bandit disappear deep in side the woods, including green (he used a withdraw). You can hear some rustling of bushes but can't spot any of them.

"You weren't fooling earlier." Vulf says to Carini as he glances down first to the corpse on the ground and then to the blood on the fighter's blades--the very blades of which she had warned the Ulfen man when the two had first met. "You do, indeed, deal quite harshly with those who make unwelcome advances."

"I am glad that you are safe." he says cautiously, but sincerely. Vulf sets a mournful gaze upon the half-elf's remaining wounds before his thoughts are broken by the sound of Kranzer's breath. "That we are all safe." the cleric adds, seeming to notice the presence of the others for the first time since the battle began.

"By Torag, you've been hurt!"cries Vulf once he catches sight of the dwarf's wounds. "I doubt that Mentys would miss another charge from his wand." the cleric says as he lifts it to heal Kranzer.

Carini studies the bushes, but moves no further into them. She motions to Mentys and the others to start getting Kalkamedes moving again as she keeps watching the bushes. Her guisarme stays constantly pointed at the bushes, tip bobbing and weaving.

Carini is not going to enter the bushes. She will stand guard while we get Kalkamedes moving again. You can change the condition of her readied action from above to be an attack if a brigand emerges from the bushes.

male Snows of Summer

The battle field is suddenly alive with activity again as the Heroes pursue the bandits in their home turf of the woods and bushes. As Kranzer enters the underbrush he's immediately attacked by the purple bandit. sickle: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 (gave Kranzer a cover bonus by taking it off purple's attack roll) Kranzer immediately replies with a hack of his own. However, the cover of all the bushes and low hanging branches, proves troublesome for both Dwarf and Bandit and neither hit. As combat progresses Vulf thinks he hears something move through the bushes right in front of him.
perception Vulf: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 and indeed he catches sight of the blue bandit streak in front of him (only a DC:10 because bandit was moving full speed). Vulf tries to strike the bandit but in the heavy underbrush, finds there is, no convenient opportunity (no AoO's when the opponent has cover) to hit his adversary. The blue bandit manages to squeeze through the bushes and flank Kranzer, trying to cut down the Dwarf with his sickle. blue sickle: 1d20 + 4 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 + 2 = 5dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 But, the thick underbrush, proves a foil, to both hero and villain alike, and blue misses as well. Once Farlen, even gets a glimpse of the blue bandit through the bushes, his wand discharges striking the blue bandit in the back, with bolts of force.

In the mean-time, Hudor makes his own venture into the woods nearest Kalkamedes. Hudor is startled when, the Orange bandit suddenly appears and strikes at Hudor. L mace Orange: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 4 = 12dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Orange, just appears from behind a tree and aims his mace right for Hudor's head but, is turned away at the last moment by, an invisible force-field of armor, surrounding the flat-footed Socerer. As the ambush progresses...there is no sign of the green bandit. A few of you think the yellow bandit might be near the large tree.

Vulf experiences an initial rush--a thrill--from having so soundly defeated a foe, especially one that had attacked so brazenly without provocation and had threatened the lives of his companions. Truly, the blood of his raiding, Ulfen ancestors runs just as strongly through this man's veins!

He then moves back to Kalkamedes side. "It would be just my luck they carry off our guide." "Kind of hard to explain that one to Heidemarch."

Carini is expecting to hear that this was an opportunistic attack, and we were the unlucky ones who were here this night. Under the circumstances, Vulf obliges. "If it as well with you, I'll continue to stow the wand with me for the rest of the journey, though I may need a bit of positive energy myself if this ache doesn't let up soon." Vulf says, rubbing the spot on his forehead where the slung rock had struck him.

”As for the fate of our captive.” notes the cleric of Torag, ”The Father of Creation is a god of honor, law, and justice. He is stern, steadfast, and unwavering. This brigand should be made to stand trial before the proper authorities for his crimes as well as those of his vanished accomplices. Indeed, it is unlikely that tonight’s foray into the woods was this man’s first time taking up arms with intent to obtain ill-gotten plunder. No, certainly not the first time.“ A satisfied grin slowly forms on the northman’s face. ”But, certainly his least successful.”

The Ulfen man lets out a long sigh as he rubs his still throbbing forehead again. He looks into the faces of his exhausted comrades attempting to read their expressions. His eyes then turn to look at the struggling sleepwalker, Kalkemedes. It has already been a long night, the weary cleric considers. Yet, out of all of us, it is the slumbering man that seems to have the most energy to continue. The Ulfen man lets out another sigh, then concedes.

”The brigand surely deserves justice, but I have no desire to try and keep another charge enwrapped for the night or to chase men fleet of foot through the wilderness. Do with him as you will.” says the cleric. ”And may Torag forgive his tired, if not always faithful, servant.”

After disarming the bandit, you do indeed deduce that, your group was an unfortunate victim of circumstance. The bandit promises not waylay travelers anymore and you send him on his way. You untie Kalkamedes and he immediately restarts his journey. He journeys north and then gradually gravitates to the northwest for two more hours.

After two hours you begin to descend in to a wide valley. The light of the sinking moon washes the sub-alpine valley ahead in silvery light. A squat, stone bunker crafted of dark rock sits nestled among the low trees, its domed roof barely peeking out from above the leafy canopy. As a cloud passes over the moon, the entire structure seems to fade from view, leaving a momentary void before the moon’s light again illuminates it. Only a single entryway mars the smooth, windowless facade of the lone building. The structure looks eerily similar to the one drawn on the scrap of paper, you found in Kalkamedes stove. (see slide 4 handout)

Kranzer (-6hp)
Farlen (-6hp)
Hudor (-4hp)
Vulf (-2hp)
Carini (-3hp)
Mentys (full)

Kalkamedes pace quickens just a bit as you approach the structure. There's a feeling of apprehension and relief...could this be where he's being lead to each night?

Let me know if you did any more healing in the last 2 hrs. Also you're 200 yards out, I'll need a new marching order as you approach. Also let me know of any other preparations you make as you approach the bunker.

Vulf will not use a charge on himself or a second charge on Kranzer, unless Mentys or Kranzer insists, but will keep the wand in his hand ready to use it on Kalkamedes, himself, or others in the event of another injury.

Watching as the stone bunker momentarily vanishes from view, Vulf exclaims, "What manner of stone is this?" Then the cleric sculptor mutters to himself, "I slike tider ønsker jeg at jeg hadde en dverg."

Skald:
"It is at times like this that I wish I had the cunning of a dwarf."

Ok so the only characters injured at all moving forward are:

Vulf (-2hp)
Kranzer (-3hp)

PS. next post tonight..if you can try to let me know what your character is doing before you approach the bunker. Otherwise, I'll just assume default marching order ect....We have about a 50/50 shot of finishing this before 'Outpost' begins if anyone is intrested.

Those four charges can come from Kranzer's wand. He would insist, as Mentys's has provided the bulk of the healing thus far.

Kranzer ranges ahead again after the incident with the bandits, shortbow out and ready.

"Must be where Kalk's headin'," Kranzer says with a creeping anxiety filling his chest.

He turns to Vulf. "Well I don't know what you keep sayin' in that language of yours holy-man, but good thing you got a dwarf with ya! If there's one thing we know, is stone." He holds up his meaty hand. "And double good luck you got one with nimble trap-breakin' fingers to boot!"

As Kranzer moves closer, he keeps watch for danger, and also inspects the stone of the structure. If they get up to the door, he will inspect it for traps.

Upon spotting the location drawn on sheet, Hudor sighs. "Finally. This must be the place we were being led to. Lets keep our guard up. Something has to have drawn our sleepwalker."

Foreseeing more danger, as we get closer to domed roof, Hudor will cast another Mage Armor on himself. 2 hour duration.

The dark stone of the bunker reminds Vulf of the dark blade the party found among Kalkamedes' possessions. Perhaps there is some connection between the two. he thinks.

Asking Hudor to retrieve the blade, Vulf compares it to the stone and tries to use his artificer's touch in an effort to repair the blade. as the mending spell

Kalkamedes walks steadily toward the Black stoned bunker. Something about the bunker seems familiar to Farlen. Something he may have read in a scroll or tomb, perhaps at the great library in Absalom.

DC:15 Knowledge geography check:
You recall reading about an unidentified Thassilonian structure in this area, made of a mysterious black stone. The structure, was reported to have no apparent entrance. The local Rangers called it, The Black Edifice.

As you draw within 50ft of the bunker, there seems to be no entrance. This doesn't slow Kalkamedes pace at all however, He heads strait for the bunker then turns sharply as he reaches the base of the bunker. Skirting around the left of the structure, he again picks up his pace this time on the west side of the structure. He seems to know exactly where he's going.

Just as you approach the structure, Vulf is handed the the broken magic sword of Kalakamedes. Hudor hands the blade to Vulf and the Ulfen decides to repair the blade, by calling on his divinely given powers. Unfortunately, the shinny blade seems unaffected by the magic. Never-the-less, Vulf is startled...When the blade speaks to him. My name is Gamin the misforged. What could you possibly do to fix me, that three master Dwarven Swordsmiths, couldn't do when I was forged? Anyway...thank you for trying. Vulf feels the tingle of magic rush through blade in to him.

DC:15 spellcraft:
The blade just cat guidance on you.

Anyway, I shouldn't talk to you..! Says the sword very sourly.. You treated my master with a lot of disrespect on our journey...always wrestling him to the ground and tying him up! *tsk*!...Cant' you see that he's not well?! The blade remains silent for a moment seemingly, smugly satisfied in Vulf's shock of the situation. When Vulf or someone else tries to address the blade you're interrupted, Shhhh! My master has found the entrance! Perhaps now, you Neanderthals, can do something useful and find a way to free him from the curse! Shhhh best to be quiet now...no telling what we'll disturb!

Indeed Gamin the intelligent sword is correct. Kalkamedes has stopped near the northern edge of the western rampart of the structure. He fumbles with some rock on the surface for a moment..and then seems to disappear strait in to the structure! Kranzer, who was standing right next to Kalkamedes, can only stare, with his mouth agape! Soon Mentys feels the tug of Kalkamedes pulling on the rope. But, the rope seems to disappear, strait in to the structure!

you can all roll will saves if you like: only a natural '20' will reveal any information. Decide what you are going to do now. Any delay and Mentys can start making Strength checks.
