GM Baerlie |
Felicitas and Alexos both shoot at the minotaur but only Felicitas' bolt hits it's target. Alexos' arrow hit a hoof.
The Minotaur tries to get away from the sticky ground but the glue is to strong.

Alexos Virden |
Going to go now so you don't have to wait on me.
Alexos drops his bow, tired of archery. He rushes forward to a flanking position and attempts to tumble into attack position.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22To avoid his retaliation if I can.
He then attempts to strike the minotaur.
unarmed: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 181d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Viincent |
Viincent moves and fires and electrical arc at the minotaur,
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 - 4 = 3
Folio Re-roll: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 1 - 4 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Sefu Sekala |
Sefu almost felt bad for the minotaur as Alexos and the magus teamed up against the entangled beast. Gripping his khopesh with two hands, Sefu swings his weapon at the minotaur will all his might.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 10
I wasn't sure if Felicitas was still buffing us, so subtract 1 from my attack and damage if she has ceased her performance. I also took it upon myself to move Alexos into flanking position as he described in his own post.
Sefu Sekala |
"Touchy, thank goodness for your quick thinking," Sefu says. "If it weren't for that tanglefoot bag you threw, I don't know if we could have stood toe-to-toe with a minotaur and lived to tell the tale!"
Sefu will take a closer look at the minotaur, both out of curiosity and to make sure it is indeed dead.
"Curious for such a beast to be lumbering about here on the island," he says to himself, crouching for a closer look.
Sefu Sekala |
"It is my dearest hope that I never require healing from you, Touchy," Sefu says, chuckling at the dwarf's strange phrasing and gestures toward Janira.
Feli2 |
"Well, what now? We have saved the pathfinder and found the miniature city. We know why those gillman come here to pray. Have we fulfilled our duties? Or is there more?"
GM Baerlie |
"Later dwarf, when we are back in Absalom and you washed your hands." Janira answers with a grin to Touchy's suggestion.
Then she turns to the other Pathfinder. "Thanks for saving my life! This was a fantastic fight! This minotaur was strong and I was unable to loose him in the woods. Without you I would be dead! I promise to help you in your future missions and submit a glowing recommendation for their heroism!" Janira says breathing hard. "Tell me, what did you find in the caves? Why do the gillmen come here?"
Feli2 |
"As I said. There is a miniature model of Absolom in the cave, a shrine to Aroden. The gillman see the pure water and see it as a holy place. Maybe enhanced by the old shrine. Let us show you!"
Alexos Virden |
Indeed, here, check my journal on the way if you want. Alexos hands his journal where he has been recording their discoveries to date to the halfling.
I even drew the carvings on the wall and the details on the altar.
He turns to Sefu.
Mind helping me remove the horn? I wasn't kidding about wanting it for a drinking horn.
He smiles and inspects the fallen foe, also trying to determine other items it might have been holding.
Touchy |
"Well, I can guess what bits you'll be hacking off ol' Touchy when he kicks off." The dwarf says, shaking his head slightly. "Knew you elves had a disturbing side." he adds with a grin.
"Lets finish explorin' this cave." He says, after a moment, as he stares at the stream trying to figure out the safest way across.
"I swear, the gods are trying to get me damp." He mutters, then stops, and starts chuckling to himself.
He will also offer Janira her wand of cure light wounds back.
Alexos Virden |
After taking the horn and placing it in his backpack, Alexos pulls out his mapmaking kit, updating it to note the additional entrance to the cave system.
I'd only be hacking something off of you if you fell to my fists, which I seriously doubt...
He smiles a little disturbingly after a minute.
Although if you were to pass out drunk I might take your mustache and give it to a Calistian priestess to wear.
He winks and begins to cross the log, heading back to the cave.
Alexos Virden |
Well, it is a good thing we went west first, for your sake Janira. That said, we still have an entire tunnel to explore.
He puts the slate back into the bag.
I don't know if there are more Gillmen further down or not. There was an... unusual pit that was a more recent addition, closer to the entrance of the cave. Might be nothing, but I doubt that the kobalds or the slime cube carved it.
Feli2 |
Standing up with a smile Felicitas adds. "Well exploring is not done by sitting around. We won a great victory here. Let us all do some work for our money!". Walking to the cave one can hear Felicitas rhyming for a new battle song.
GM Baerlie |
Alexos finds a broken greataxe and three javelins at the minotaur.
"Ok, let's go." Janira takes her backpack and the wand of cure light wounds and heads back to the cave.
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
After the narrow passages and the place where you defeated the kobolds you come into the big chanber again. The gillman pilgrim left already and there is nothing but silence in this room. From time to time you hear waterdrops falling into the water.
Alexos Virden |
Well, here you can see the altar... its beautiful, isn't it? Take your time, Janira. Seems like our friend left already... still, we have that other tunnel to explore when you are ready.
He heads toward the tunnel entrance and listens.
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
GM Baerlie |
The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as you continue down through this tunnel, and as you approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern.
GM Baerlie |
The deceased dhampir was a necromancer who used this cave as a secluded place to practice his craft, but following a mistake while animating a dead gillman, his creations turned on him. Among other fallen bodies, you find a note written by the dhampir that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave. You also find a ring of protection +1 and an amulet of natural armor +1.
Feli2 |
"I guess I know what happened! This dhampir made the pit, so that he could "harvest" gillman, and well he botched controlling them."
Whats left?Feels almost done? Or is there an exit to the cavern?
Alexos Virden |
OK, that isn't good... wonder how many of them are on the loose....
Alexos takes the ring, but passes the amulet over to Felicitas. He hands the plans to Janira.
Well, looks like this area would have been more dangerous if the dhampir here was more successful. That probably explains the pit too.
Is there further caverns or tunnels?
Alexos draws this chamber on his mapmaker.
Alexos Virden |
Think I found it, ;)
Alexos finds the secret passage to the surface.
Well, this has been a lovely trip, and I have maps and details of everything we found. Shall we begin heading back to the society now to report our findings?
Alexos Virden |
Likewise, Felicitas. As well as all of you. Even you, Touchy... though how we keep ending up working together is beyond me. Someone furhter up the ranks must have a sense of humor.
He smiles as he says this.
I will be happy to provide whatever notes or documentation the Society wishes to them, Janira. What do you think they will do with what we have found?
Alexos Virden |
Sure! I have been trying to keep a running log since we left the inn, but I am sure that I probably missed something. Though if we can get a few scones and some fresh tea while we compare journals I'd be grateful... Touchy can go on about my "elven sensibilities" all he wants, but some things are just civil.
He smiles again, and turns to Janira.
We would be honored if you were there too. Given you didn't get to see this place with us from start to finish I am sure you will want to hear the story. And I want to hear how you kept the minotaur distracted long enough for us to find you again.
Sefu Sekala |
"This really has been a most exciting and instructive endeavor," Sefu says. "Thank you, Janira, for seeing us through it. I hope that I may have the privilege of working with any one of you again sometime soon."
GM Baerlie |
"I'm pretty sure the Society will send archeologists and historians to find out more about the shrine and the carvings." Janira answers to Alexos question. "And it is important that we warn them about minotaur activities in this area." After a few moments she adds "I think it's already sunrise time. Do you want to rest or travel back to Absalom right now?"
It doesn't matter how you decide, no more encounters planned ;)
Alexos Virden |
Let us rest for a little while and then head back. I know you are mostly healed, Janira, but I figure you might want an hour or two to catch up on some sleep. Dancing is a steniuous exercixe, especially with a minotaur.
Alexos Virden |
Fair enough, much obliged :)
Alexos pulls out his journal and his mapmaker. He hands the journal to Kreighton.
Here, take a look. I of course will want it back, but I am happy to transcribe another for you. We found ancient carvings and an Aldorian altar in the shape of the city. We also found an older form of his holy texts, perhaps it is a purer version. I drew and wrote everything we found.
He takes a sip of water and continues.
We also found out that the Low Azlanti view the waters there as purer than most, hence them coming to contemplate them. A necromancer was trying to exploit this to make an army, but something went wrong and his creations killed him. We did not find them, but we did find and kill two kobalds, a slime cube, and a roaming minotaur that Janira had tried to distract and lose.
He thinks for a second, pulls out the horn and the hippogryph fur, and continues again.
We also had to kill two hippogryphs that ambushed us on our way. Sadly. Is there anyone you would trust to make these into a drinking horn? I would honor my kills.
GM Baerlie |
No worries, Alexos, you can keep your notes after you copied them for our archives. These maps and journals will be important for future missions to this area. Attacking hippogryphs, minotaurs and necromants are a bad sign although the old texts of Aroden seem to be very interesting. We will see what the future brings. Shaine says. Take your horn to Beltranas, a Taxidermist in the Ivy District, tell him I sent you. If that is all, I thank you for your help on this mission. I'm going to leave you now. and like the last time he leaves in a hurry.
Alexos Virden |
I appreciate it, and I will be happy to copy everything we found for you! Alexos calls after the retreating figure.
Alexos nods to his fellows.
Well, I am off to this taxidermist. I will see you around. Don't forget about our meeting later, Felicitas!
With that, Alexos heads towards the Ivy district.
