Salis seems taken back by Anahita's comment. Without even a hint of anger or bias toward the spirit. He explains. "I do see your point, but it would be against my better judgment to allow a being that has no control over it's self left unchecked. Would you not restrain a drunken friend from hurting them self or others.... This would be a very non-intrusiveness way of keeping the spirit with in a boundary. I admit there are other version of this that would strip the spirit of it's freedom. I will not resort to such a way, but I can't see letting this being stay stripped of it's freedom through a binding spell ether. The best way for this to be handle is to calm the spirit and find a way to release it from Professor Ori. If we have a person here that can speak to the beast with out releasing the spirit could possibly be the best course. However there is no guarantee that the spirit will not be able to harm the person that talks to him." It was obvious that he empathized with the spirit.
It's clear now, for anyone with proper sense motives, that Salis' choice of words are causing some anger to be constrained by her mighty will alone.
"Your .. tone, and choice of words, continue to act as if this creature, or to use your own words, erudite and learned Elf of civilization, "beast", requires stripping of it's freedom to speak with- again and again within the same breath! Do you really feel or think so strongly and poorly of Nature that-"
Suddenly, she falls quiet.
Taking a moment to look around at those gathered and she says calmly, "Forgive my outburst," her calmness, once a whirlwind of swelling anger, not unlike a hurricane slowly rising in strength, vacated her as smoothly as it had grown just moments before, "I will willingly remove myself now from this situation. It is clear that I am a minority here, my words and experience are ignored, or simply re-stated again. Perhaps once I have spent the proper time in this school," she turns to look at Salis when saying this next part, "where I can absorb the merits of how people are taught to treat the beauty of Nature with the proper means to be controlled and feared as Salis here is espousing, I will be among the same ranks as your esteemed professors. Please forgive my ignorance and lack of formal education. I shall take my leave." It is quite clear that she is restraining herself from speaking more at the end of this.
She gives Ori Reading a polite and formal bow at the waist, her hand doing that merry little rolling gesture and heads off, rather mightily, out the doorway of the infirmary. In her rushed movement away, a finger tip to touch the panels of the walls for guidance, in the directly she was already apparently heading, making her way towards her next class.

"Has anyone here suggested you aren't a dragon? I, for a long time, were as you are. I was a kobold, but had been a dragon. I have been restored, so too, can you perhaps. First, though, we must discover the circumstances of your 'curse'. On a side note, Kezzin, I was madea kobold to teach me some humility, and see the value in other creatures. That time has served me well, has opened doors I thought closed to me. I too, early on had conflicts with my clan, until one day I snapped and killed all of them because the mistreatment of myslef and one of my only, true friends."
Ephebe will feel a small sense of loss from Krays at the reminder of H'Tor
"So, I would encoursge you to take this opportunity to learn temperance, and how to live, while we try to figure this out."
Kezzin's eyes snap to Krays when he mentions having been a dragon, and he seems to be trying to see the dragon inside Krays. When Krays finishes talking, he looks back towards Ephebe and gives a small bow, It is a sore subject.

I'm guessing that they probably aren't physically adjacent, but they likely share an extradimensional space in case Nala needs help for emergencies or the like.
"Anahita, wait a moment. Your passion is understood here." Tyrrin will not physically block Anahita's exit, nor compel her in any way other than the weight of her words. Once again Tyrrin seems to be examining Anahita, deducing, putting pieces together.
"I believe I understand your anger. The spirit in question is a sentient being just as any in this school, and deserves the same respect as any other. Is that correct?" Tyrrin waits for some agreement from Anahita before continuing, her face is placid and calm, a true diplomat.
"Would you agree then, that it shares the same rights and deserves the same respect as we grant any other being in this school?" Tyrrin seems to be building towards a point, waiting after each questiong for agreement before continuing.
"Now, since we agree that all the teachers, students and the spirit have the same right to life, the same right to freedom, as any other?"
"Now, the spirit, in it's anger, is a threat to both the student body, and the other beings in the school. If it rages blindly, it will strike down even those who are trying to help it. Would you agree with that assessment?"
"Now if we are to help both the spirit and Professor Reading, while maintaining the safety of the other sentient beings at the school, it may be nescessary to restrain or bind it while we study it for ways to release it from it's prison. Unless you have another suggestion to put forth, I do not see another way. Unless you place the life and freedom of this spirit above those of our peers and instructors, this is the most logical course of action." Tyrrin finishes in an annoyingly superior way, confident that her argument brooks no debate.
I've structured this post so that Anahita may interrupt at any point and disagree. Especially since Tyrrin is being annoyingly superior.

The Headmaster watches the conversation, nodding when Tyrrin asks if he'd supervise, and listens carefully to all sides. He was sure he was missing something...
::Professor Reading, do you have any contact with the spirit while the amulet is holding it back?:: He aks telepathically, not wanting to interrupt Anahita or Tyrrin.

            "Anahita, wait! Please?"
"Look, I really do appreciate how eager you all are to help, but while this may be an interesting academic problem to some of you, this is my life we're talking about. And right now I feel like Anahita and the Headmaster are the only ones treating me like a person and not a problem. Whether we can ever be separated or not, right now the spirit is part of me. So if we can please just...stop talking about us like we're not in the room, thanks ever so," she snapped.
Ori's hair had come unbound from its braids when the nature spirit manifested and her auburn curls were doing their untidy best to fall into her face. She pushed them back impatiently. Her clothing was clearly designed to disguise her figure as well as possible, but with her hair hanging loose the overall effect was to make her look even younger than she was. She could easily pass for a student in this state.
"It's bad enough having to share what is a rather humiliating story once, and I'd rather not go into it again. As far as the spirit goes, it's a forest spirit. Its name is Kryshyykilii'vkk. I can speak to it sometimes in dreams I think, but I don't remember them clearly. I have no idea how I ended up bound to it in the first place, except we were both hurt and angry and that seems to have something to do with it. I don't know what a kami is, although I think Professor Agave used that word before too."
She hastily wiped away a tear that escaped in spite of her, admittedly somewhat fragile attempt to keep control of her emotions.

There is a door between the nurses office and the infirmary in the main school. Technically they're nowhere near each other, but the school is cool like that.
"Hello, Sun. I am making a coat for Lang. He said this fabric reminded him of clouds against the sky. I tried to design it in multiple panels to allow for air flow since that seems to be important to him."

It was a good way to calm his nerves, especially given that he wasn't sure he was prepared for the third class of the day: Evocation with Sorchan del Sol.
I realize David probably also has this class, but I'm putting this out there anyway, feel free to catch up to here when you are finished with your scene with Raelle.
Ardiente finds a seat quickly in the evocation classroom, near the back. Sorchan may notice (unless something otherwise occupies him), that Ardiente looks... if not sullen then at least deflated. A very drastic change from the exuberant young man he had met the previous day (both at the Registration table and later with Fieri). Studying Ardiente offers no immediate explanation for this behavior - no ill magic, and no overt fatigue. Though he seems very focused on the class.
no big I figure we already were done really
Shortly after he says this class starts and conversation turns mostly to class related stuff. After class was over Dave says to Raelle "well that was easy, probably cause I got you helping me" he smiles " well I best be off, I got evocation next, see you at lunch" Dave runs on the walls and gets there shortly before class started looking quite excited, the moment he sees the teacher all the excitement drains from his face 'oh crap' he thinks he takes his seat next to Ardiente and tries not to call attention to himself, reapplying his illusion as is habit.
"Good morning, class. I trust you are enjoying your first day of school," he said with an easygoing smile that gets a little less easygoing when he spots Dave in the back.
"To begin, I want you to know that this classroom is even more thoroughly warded than the rest of the school. You cannot be harmed by any evocation spell....though it will hurt if you are hit by one. Wouldn't want you to get too complacent."
"Now. Evocation is a discipline best learned by doing. So we'll begin with defense. Today we are literally going to fight fire with fire. Also known as counterspelling. Ardiente, Dave, thank you so much for volunteering for a demonstration to the rest of the class. If you two would come up to the front here, please. Ardiente I want you to send a fire attack at Dave. Dave, you will use fire, and only fire, to counterspell to prevent the fire from reaching you."

Actually, gonna retcon Vai into this Light Blades class, seems like fun. She's a bit late, cause she got her schedule confused (she thought she had Advanced Mechanics).
Vai hurries into the Light Blades classroom. Of course she misread the schedule on the first day. Seeing Adon enter the class ahead of her, Vai is slightly encouraged. At least she wasn't the only one late. Oh! Sadie is in this class! Yes! They've already started practicing though, how late am I?!
Vai comes into the sidelines of the duel between Ehos and Sadie, watching her toy with him. It was a little painful to watch... but that's why we have classes, so we can learn. Vai retrieved her own practice sword from the rack where the fencing club students kept their equipment, still watching. It was almost comical, really.
"You feint to the left every time you try that move, Ehos," she said, as she parried his attack yet again. "Careful. Keep your feet closer together so you don't throw yourself off balance." She smiled at Vai as she continued her lesson with Ehos.
After a few more instructions she deftly knocked the blade out of his hand.
"Not too bad. You've gotten better since last term."
"Who wants to spar with me next?"

Having merely gotten to the door and imagined the heading away, Anahita stops when both Tyrrin and Ori Reading speak out to her.
After Ori's comments following Tyrrin's, there is the slightest tenseness fading away from her expressive, yet muted, features. Again, this would require prestigious amounts of sensing one's motives, not to mention the time involved with said skill.
"Professor Reading speaks again, as I have attempted to say earlier. This spirit is not a threat any more than she herself is. They are one and the same, for all I can discern, and yet the immediate attempt is to treat it as such, why? Communication, without a defensive or aggressively defensive posture is the proper approach- as equals in this thing we call life. Mutual respect and appreciation. Not as if it were a beast." Slight glance at Salis there.
She then walks over to Ori Reading and puts a comforting hand atop her shoulder if allowed, saying, "You had bade me not speak of your past, though I commend your courage to speak of it again, especially if any here among us are strangers to you, Professor Reading. I will not forget this courage. I stand ready to assist you- perhaps via your dreams, a spell or some telepathic ability, may allow the communication to this Nature spirit. As for it and you being one and the same," she smiles at that, "seeing as your life appears to well and proceeding in a fashion you appear to desire, then the only issue I can see is resolving your anger, and thus perhaps the spirit's as well, however possible. Rage does no being good, it is not a part of Nature, lest there be pain and suffering inflicted with intent. Then, it will lash out, and woe be it to any that think they can contain Nature. That is the mark of an arrogant being who's hubris will strike."
She then nods and then says, "I propose two things, straight away; one find someone that may speak with spirits, first and foremost. Perhaps they may then be able to speak directly to Ori Reading's spiritual aspect, this Nature spirit. Otherwise, do similar via a travel into her dreams mayhap. Two, release the holds Ori Reading has upon herself, or this spirit and speak to it directly- away from harming others, in the countryside, or elsewhere. Surely that can be done, without binding spells and the like. Ultimately, however, it is my suspicion that the sheer anger, on both parts, being and spirit, are what may need to be resolved for progress."
She stands there, offering the comfort, as allowed, demonstrating skill in the empathic side of healing, not merely the physical provided earlier with divine magics.

Ardiente nods and stands, "Yes, Professor." he snaps, as if he were still in the drill yard, moving to the front of the classroom opposite Dave.
Ardiente stands still for a second, takes a deep breath and opens his eyes. He drops into a bending form, using both his hands to unleash hell.
Firebending Check (Flamethrower Seed, DC35, 1d6 damage per 5): 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (12) + 35 = 47,
Firebending Check (Flamethrower Seed, Move Action (Base DC45), 1d6 damage per 5): 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (8) + 35 = 43
Ardiente isn't quite able to get the second flame directed properly right away, then Sorchan sees him intensify his focus, straining to get the jet on target.
Ardiente will "overbend" both checks by 5, but is immune to the fatigue condition thanks to his levels in martial artist.
Total fire damage: 10d6 + 9d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 4, 2, 2, 5, 6, 1, 1) + (5, 6, 5, 4, 1, 2, 6, 2, 6) = 63

It's a 10d6 bolt of fire and I got the improved counter spell the other one he blasts out of the way with a quickened fireball total damage 26d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 1, 6, 6, 3, 4, 2, 5, 3, 1, 2, 1, 3, 6, 1, 4, 6, 5, 1, 1, 1, 6, 4, 1) = 80

I need you to break that up into two separate rolls. You can use those values and do the addition yourself or re-roll, but these are individual attacks being countered individually....and some tactics are more effective than others.
Same goes for Ardiente. Two attacks, two rolls.

he says while taking off his gaudy purple dueling hat and pulling out a fork with a sharpened tine...
"ready? " he asks poker faced
"Whenever you are," she said with a grin. She was still taking this seriously even if he was fighting with a fork, but it was still a funny picture.

"Well....are any of you good at talking to spirits?" she asked in response to Anahita's suggestion.
"As for dealing with anger, I've been taking meditation classes since I got here. It's a bit weird having a teacher taking classes, but considering the alternative...well, anyways, it hasn't really done a whole lot of good. It's not like I'm running around in a rage all the time, but there's a sort of slow simmer in the background at all the sheer injustice of life in general that never really shuts off, you know?"

Figured we'd need damage to see if it gets through. Ardiente is used to pushing himself to his fullest (and then some, hence the overbending).
The attacks are seperated like so: 2, 1, 2, 4, 2, 2, 5, 6, 1, 1 = 26 for the first one.
5, 6, 5, 4, 1, 2, 6, 2, 6 = 37 for the second.

ok firebolt is 10d6 fireball is 16d6 the bolt counters the small one the ball countera the big one 10d6 16d6
Alright, I did the math for Ardiente's attacks since they were rolled pseudo-separate. So...
Edit: And of course was ninja'd due to time spent writing this post. :)The firebolt hit Ardiente's first attack dead on and they sort of hung there for a moment before both faded away.
Dave's second attempt wasn't as successful. There was a huge boom as the fireball went off, but Ardiente's attack went right through it, solidly hitting Dave. Sorchan smirked just a little.
In a 'counterspelling' situation against firebending, I'm having the instantaneous and very spread out fireball not be sufficiently concentrated to actually stop the second attack. very effective attack, not such a good choice for this particular moment.
"Always have to be prepared for surprises, David. Not everything works the way you expect it will. Thank you, Ardiente. David. You may return to your seats."
"So. Who can tell me the secret to a successful counterattack?"

"I can consider .." In replying to Ori Reading's question about speaking with spirits, Anahita actually pauses, as if her mind completely stops and disconnects, leaving just her shell standing there for about two blinks of her eyes, then she's back and acts as if she didn't say anything just then.
"I mentioned previously that I am not familiar with planar beings. However, speaking to the rage-- Professor Reading, perhaps you should just vent? Find a target, something inanimate and dead, and assail it with all your might, lashing out, so's to deplete that fury within. Otherwise, it may fester further."
Anahita stands there, hair is wavy on her shoulders, oblivious of anything odd that just happened. She does look supportive and eager to help.
"I usually exercise, a lot, when I am gripped with such anger. It is a part of us, but, unresolved, unhealthy." There's a faint smile there too, if that helps.

Dave razes his hand "speed, strength, and awareness of your enemy and surroundings"

"If neither the Professor nor the spirit is a threat," Tyrrin snaps in return, suddenly angry. "Why are we standing here in the infirmary? Why was the Headmaster's intercession necessary?" Tyrrin shakes her head angrily, causing a strand of hair to fall free from her bun. "I apologize, if I am missing some fact as I missed the early part of this conversation, but I am under the impression that the spirit broke free, and had to be contained by the Headmaster. Am I wrong in this assumption? No? Then listen to me."
"Just because this spirit is part of nature, just because it is a sentient creature deserving of respect and dignity does not mean that it is not a threat. And if Professor Reading is so bound to it, then she is a threat as well. It would be extremely naive to think otherwise. You've met my brother, have you not Anahita? He is also a threat. To everyone around him. We have to do what we can to limit the danger he poses. So we must apply the same to Professor Reading here. Only once we have removed the threat they pose to others, can we start to help them."
Tyrrin was visibly upset, any pretense of politeness or restraint gone, shaking slightly. "Every problem is an academic problem, Professor Reading, whether it concerns one life, ten lives, or ten million. And don't try to tell me it's not a problem, while we talk in the school's infirmary."
Her fury seemingly spent for the moment, Tyrrin turns on her heel for the door, though doesn't quite leave. "You will still have my assistance in this matter as long as you require it, but I for one will not pretend that it is not a threat, that it shouldn't be treated as a problem." She starts to leave, taking only a few steps before stopping again, still refusing to look at the group. "I apologize for my outburst. Headmaster. I must speak with you on an unrelated issue, at your leisure." And walks out, refusing to listen to any appeals otherwise.

"That's not how it works, Kezzin," she said gently. "Those who demand respect may get obedience or fear, but not respect. You have to give respect in order to get respect. You are a very ancient being, so I know that some part of you understands that. But it's likely hard for you to remember all the things you know since you seem to be stuck going in circles."
Kezzin's voice turns savagely bitter, and quiet, I remember nothing. All I know is that I have been a kobold for five years. But I am a Dragon.
Ephebe senses slight confusion, like deja vu.
"Dragons...well for some of us it's hard to look at other sentients as anything other than smart food. But it's important that we understand that we are all mortals, and it's not our place to make others miserable, just because we can. Respect can result from this realization. Living as a kobold, and coming here has taught me this."
Still looking down at the ground, Kezzin speaks very quietly, but he is trembling slightly with the intensity of what he is feeling, I am trapped in a form not my own, with no way to prove that I am not merely crazy. He opens his mouth to speak again, but no words come. After a moment he takes a very deep breath and shakes the mood off with a physical shake of his head. I will do my best to learn what you say I must learn. He raises his head to look at Krays, then at Ephebe, So, Professors Blackscales, do you think I need an 'Independent Study'?

It can leave your opponent just as open. A skilled opponent will know this, and may even set a trap. You must be sure you have the advantage before launching a counter-attack." Ardiente speaks up as well. Perhaps the demonstration had rid both Ardiente and David of any first-day nerves.
