To be honest I was toying with the idea of this.
I mean it'd be cool, no?
And it'd let you be big damn heroes so you could save the Queen ;-)

I don't mind her being competent.
I just want the NPCs to react to the situation in an appropriate manner given the situation rather than just stand in one place until they are slaughtered.
Thanks for the answers on the summons. Now to read gameplay.

            @Mort Thanks for fixing it!
@Einar
Sorry, Einar, I changed the elemental picture. I did that so that I could make it fit in a medium sized area -- which is tough given the map scale.

Actually it was a morning derp issue. For some reason, I thought wall of stone at base CL 9,it was 1 inch, and every 4 levels above that it was another inch more ><

            note elementals are living
Who don't breathe and have a number of immunities. The earth elementals also had the ability to get to the targets, unlike many potential summons.
You have given us minimal information about this opponent, even after researching them. We know that they have a weird breath weapon, and they just worked with a pair of elder elementals that didn't appear to suffer any ill effects from being nearby.
We also know they are highly intelligent and some have weird strands that give them concealment. We assume they have casters because of the summoned or planar allied creatures.
I am trying to work off the information given. I have not looked the creatures up, nor do I intend to unless told that it is alright.
BTW, would I know if the creatures were planar summoned or just regularly summoned? I wouldn't expect planar summons to work because of the lock, but then I didn't expect regular summons to work either and was told they do.

They can friendly fire their own water elementals(thus they need to be careful on it). The breath weapon carries disease in the 30 ft cone it forms. Standing next to a nuckelavee does NOT give you disease - or make you take it's breath weapon damage - unless it chooses to use its breath weapon on you.
Since summoning is allowed, planar binding, planar ally and all that stuff is working too. The stat block does not state that the elementals are summoned, nor how they actually got there.
Honestly it's none of my business as a GM - the water elementals could well be living in the sea before the dimensional lock was put in place etc.
If the mod says I throw monster X at you, I throw monster X at you. How monster X got there is not my business, unless the mod specifically states.
Exact mod words” Six Buyan Nuckelavees accompanied by 2 elder water elementals, lead the attack on the palace.”
The main issue is what your knowledge check - researching is one thing - I've already given some tidbits of information for free - for the city defense stage. I wouldn't be giving EVERYTHING - else what would knowledge checks be for?
Lock stops all the spells that it says it stops, nothing more, nothing less.

Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
ok, the monsters are going after Mister Whiskers, so bot Einar, I'm going to bed, If they come to him and he can get a full attack that would be awesome! if not he will move and attack...
remember he has the mask and World serpent Spirit bloodline power ;)

Basically whats going to happen is this: Should Mr Whiskers not take down the wall of force - they'll get their elementals to whack at it(futilely, for about 14 rounds or so before it finally wears off - since a wall of force has hardness 30, so its pretty much a waste of time), while under obscuring mist. I could just fastfoward till wall of force duration wears off.
Unless anyone wants to earthglide etc. They don't have anything they can throw at a wall of force that can actually destroy it, nor can they bypass it.
Or Mr Whiskers can declare when he wants to standard action dismiss it - so we can get back to brawling.

Considering I just got this phone 2 months ago, this is ludicrous!

Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
Oh,when you're enlarged, you threaten at 10-20ft with the reach weapon. You know where they are, but you still take total concealment.
The vapor obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature 5 feet away has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target).
To hit with a reach weapon you would need to be 10ft away minimum, so there would be total concealment.
Thought I should bring the questions over here.
If he is 5 ft away is he in the cloud?
So if using a reach weapon while large a 5 ft step didn't help, it needed to be a 10 ft step, which would be giving up full attack.
Can Einar full attack with his bite Natural attack, or would he have to use two of three natural attacks and hold the glaive in his other claw?
This is what I get for letting you talk me into using a "reach weapon"

You could Nat attack them without penalty. I was wondering how long you'd take to figure it out ;-)
*snicker*
I'll allow that Retcon too.
And oh, you can hold the glaive with two hands at the end of the round, if you want to threaten.

Yes, because one hand needs to hold the glaive(unless you dun mind dropping it) . Unless you have a tail?

I'm sending my phone for replacement. Will take 7 working days. I have a spare phone at home but it'll take a while to set up.

I have no phone! I feel rather empty, like part of me is missing..but it’s rather liberating at the same time. I took back my sim card, so I will try to UMD it into my old tablet tonight (with some luck) – because the SIM cards are different size, but I got a SIM card adaptor. I won’t be able to post once I leave office today.
I was hoping they would have a spare phone to loan me, but alas, no luck.
By tomorrow we’ll see if I managed to get my old tablet working – otherwise I’ll be only able to post when I’m in office and at home, and not in transit.

GM Mort

My phone was also unable to be charged while turned on. I had to switch of my phone to charge it…definitely not the way to go.
I wouldn’t be able to post while driving. It takes waaay too much concentration. I’d crash the car if I tried. I’ve managed to post while using a cross trainer in the gym, but need to take my paws off the hand bars to do so. If I’m jogging at any decent speed, I can’t post, either.
Oh. I’ll need to load the witch queen’s revenge on my tablet in order to run ROW.
I guess I can understand why some people like going to vacation with places there’s no wireless – to leave off those technological devices. Then you suddenly have the time to read books in the train =)

Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
yeah, no one should be posting on a device while driving! I don't even like to talk on the phone let alone text and drive. People get killed doing it.
If it doesn't charge while it's on, well that seems like a problem.
vacation... not wireless... leave devices... uuummmmm I still take my device with me and plug in at the hotel. I may also be a luddite but I'm not a Neanderthal...

Talk is possible – if you’re on speaker you can. How distracting it is, well I never tried so no idea. Text, not possible. I was walking down the stairs and on my phone once…and yes I fell down the stairs and sprained my ankle. Clumsy me. I don’t use the phone on stairs anymore.
Yup, and generally if I run into a problem, it’s a go and get it fixed thing with me. NOW and not tomorrow.
On vacations: I do take my device with me, but clearly I’m not going to be using it much if I’m looking at sea cucumbers, octopi, and sea sponges under water. And it’s good to be out in the great outdoors now and then!

I sense great saltiness in you. I believe it is caused by a 6-day work week, and insufficient time off =)

Leaving office - Mr Whiskers - feel free to take 2 turns when your turn comes. Not going to worry too much about order for this fight since the outcome's pretty much set.
And off to 5e! Will be home late tonight!

I am thinking that Greta might benefit from the Lucerne Hammer, since she doesn't have a way to bypass DR/Good, and likes reach weapons...?
Does Mr Whiskers want the Metamagic Rod?
The shield is nice, but Crummock has made a point of only ever using his original weapon (which he has had for a *very* long time), and the shield we found on our very first adventure together ;-)

Someone should take the shield. We know that we will continue to fight spellcasters and it gives us a way past a wall of force.
I have no problem with giving Greta the hammer.
Yes, I would like the meta-magic rod.

Are we supposed to be level 16 for this fight or after it?

GM Mort

Staves hold a maximum of 10 charges. Each spell cast from a staff consumes one or more charges. When a staff runs out of charges, it cannot be used until it is recharged. Each morning, when a spellcaster prepares spells or regains spell slots, he can also imbue one staff with a portion of his power so long as one or more of the spells cast by the staff is on his spell list and he is capable of casting at least one of the spells. Imbuing a staff with this power restores one charge to the staff, but the caster must forgo one prepared spell or spell slot of a level equal to the highest-level spell cast by the staff.
This fight you're supposed to be 16.

Mr Whiskers - you need to have on your spell listt prepared one of the spells in the staff of electricity to recharge it(chain lightning or lightning bolt or shocking grasp). Then you use a sixth level slot to recharge it.

Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
I am thinking that Greta might benefit from the Lucerne Hammer, since she doesn't have a way to bypass DR/Good, and likes reach weapons...?
I'm good with that, she definitely needs an upgrade!
Someone should take the shield. We know that we will continue to fight spellcasters and it gives us a way past a wall of force.
Einar is happy to carry the shield, if he has to use it he can wield it in conjunction with his longsword.

If you use a heavy shield you cannot cast spells(except for those 'as part of entering your bloodrage') unless you put away your weapon or shield first because you have no free hand for somantic components.
Unless the spell has only verbal components, like dimension door.

Oh spare phone is in working order so we're back to our usual scheduled programming.
The PCs should reach 16th level while they are on the Island of Buyan, and before they face *event that has not occured yet*
Which I gave you level 16 before the event so...

For the purposes of spell prep - you would have gained level 16 at the end of the last attack of the nuckelavees.
