It's my duty as GM to know as much as possible about characters in my games. What they can/cannot do, all the possible permutations of their actions.
Basically to part the mists of time, to see what the future holds. (Why do you think my GM avatar is an eye? I'm always watching)
Actually even as a player I'll check out the team as well. Again most people don't care for my unsolicited advice.
GM Mort
Ouch! You hurt my feelings, Einar!
But I don't do random things. I always do things for a purpose.

K my results are out. I have now graduated with a bachelor of law degree(2nd upper) =)
GM Mort
Thank you =)
I should say something witty involving rule lawyers and actual lawyers but I'm a little too tired for that now...
GM Mort
Actually for raise dead, the cheapest one is the akhana.
Greater restoration, I haven't actually done research for that one yet...
GM Mort
Wait. Maybe I should celebrate by getting myself drunk. But d@mn alcohol is so expensive here:(
Crummock-i-Phail
Yes. Planetars also have the advantage of being in the original Bestiary, so it can't even be claimed that they are 'cheesy'...
I agree, the Akhana is theoretically cheaper, but the Planetar can raise several people, as well as removing both negative levels from one person, so it works out as being more cost-effective (although you *do* need the Greater version of the spell to summon one, whilst the Akhana can be accessed by the 'normal' version, so it is available earlier).
Mr. Whiskers
Congratulations Mort, and evidently there is a nasty surprise waiting in gameplay?
Guess I will go read it now.
Mr. Whiskers
Yeah, seems that way.
Might have wanted to do the calling someplace other than right outside the door. Hopefully Mort will allow that -- especially since then we could overlap that time with the time that Einar spent on the door.
GM Mort
Eh I am not going to have the door open on you. Not all the time I will be that charitable though.
Mr. Whiskers
So is there a reason we didn't ask for the True Seeing on someone? Mr. Whiskers doesn't have his Arcane Sight or See Invisibility anymore.
Mr. Whiskers
It evidently is still too early in the morning to properly plan, especially with the remainder of a cold.
Would you mind if Mr. Whiskers casts Ice Body and Communal Resist Elements, Cold as preparation as well?
GM Mort
Hrmmm Meh. Well you did have a chance to buff, I'll say no. But since you beat them in init, you can get some of it out anyway.
Mr. Whiskers
Right, guess I didn't do them then.
I would rather prevent them from acting if possible.
GM Mort
About ice storm:
Great magical hailstones pound down upon casting this spell, dealing 3d6 points of bludgeoning damage and 2d6 points of cold damage to every creature in the area. This damage only occurs once, when the spell is cast. For the remaining duration of the spell, heavy snow and sleet rains down in the area. Creatures inside this area take a -4 penalty on Perception skill checks and the entire area is treated as difficult terrain. At the end of the duration, the snow and hail disappear, leaving no after-effects (other than the damage dealt).
Heavy snow is described in weather section?
Wall of ice has 57 hp, FYI, extends all the way to the ceiling.
Mr. Whiskers
Confused. More than likely it is the head cold interfering.
Why does Einar have four negative levels?
GM Mort
The witch clawed him and drained his life force.
Each claw gives 2 new levels, if it helps...
I posted in the morning, then did all the saves with the *redacted* stuff going on. Then realized I forgot to mention it.
GM Mort
Black tentacles would also deal 1d6+4 damage(I'll count it as spell damage and not subject to DR), but they have fast healing so I didn't bother roll for the damage either.
GM Mort
I suppose if I wanted to be witty, I'd say because Einar is a negative level magnate and deals with negative levels?
Mr. Whiskers

That is a lot of fast healing!
GM Mort
I mean I could roll the damage and say later they heal up, but yeah, additional typing and clutter><. Also, Mr Whiskers, you're up, and I'm off for lunch with colleague soon so I probably won't be doing much here.

Hopefully it's a congratulatory dinner for the graduation!
It's official Mort is a 'legal' lawful neutral GM... or is that lawfully ordained lawful neutral GM... or a licensed lawful neutral GM... so many puns so little time ;)
GM Mort
For why doesn't the black tentacles grapple this time round: they're no longer targeting flat-footed cmd.
I try to keep track of as of as many things as possible, but if I miss out stuff, sorry. Really. I'm human too :(
One good example was Einar and greater heroism. I didn't realize I derped till later.
Another was forgetting Mr Whiskers had spell penetration.
The third was forgetting to tell all of you about the negative levels and thinking I did it.
And I'm spending my weekend cleaning up my aunts place lol.
GM Mort
Crummock maybe we should talk about interactions of ice storm - I honestly thought it would obscure LOS - that's why the selection was made. If it wasn't that way then another action would have been taken. Urgh there's a lot of rewinding to do if so...
GM Mort
Mr Whiskers - mind this part on interactions with mage sword:
If the sword goes beyond the spell range from you, goes out of your sight, or you are not directing it, it returns to you and hovers.
I don't think you have LOS to it now with a wall of ice in the way.

Just bot me.
I've been doing a miserable job anyways and am too sick to figure out what to do.
I'm sure you'll do a better job anyways.
GM Mort
Chances are the place will be walled up. I'm trying to see if its a legal cast or not and obstacles.
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
ok I read what happened, let me make sure I understand it.
Leaving a frozen icicle in his place.
Is Crummock dead? didn't he have the 'baba yaga' don't die spell that Greta had?
Mister Whiskers put a wall between Einar and the witches, can Einar fly over it?
Is red the only one still alive? Can Einar tell how damaged she is? Can Dimitri see her to shoot her?
GM Mort
The problem is Bol is 5d8+20. I don't think anything can help at - 125 or so. Red is at full, and Dimitri can see her.
You can walk around the wall, but there's one part you need to squeeze since you're. Large. Between black and green lines
The wall stretched all the way to the ceiling.

I'm a little better now. Still not fully recovered, hopefully by Thursday or Friday. The coughing, runny nose, concentration have all improved.

Trying to update for what has happened.
First thing to note is that both Mort and I have been missing the effect of one of my buff spells, Fire Shield.
Fortunately I had remembered to cast that, so
The flames are warm to the touch. You take only half damage from cold-based attacks. If such an attack allows a Reflex save for half damage, you take no damage on a successful saving throw.
Updates:
At full hit points before battleTake only 12-5+6/2 = 10 damage rather than 13 from Ice Storm because of Fire Shield.
Use a 7th level slot and Arcane Reservoir point for Wall of Force
Use a 7th level slot for Dragon's Breath
Takes only 45/2 = 22 damage from Wall of Ice because of Fire Shield.
Down a total of 32 hit points of which 12 were temporary, two 7th level spell slots and 1 AR.
I have updated Mr. Whisker's tracking based on the above. Corrections welcome.
That brings us to Einar trying to kill himself in spite of the GM giving him protection.

Questions that came up in rereading.
How is someone using a two-handed weapon when grappled?
How did I do two standard actions in the same turn?. Rereading the spell, it is a standard action to target. Are you saying since I didn't change targets it didn't take a standard action?
I did answer one of my own questions. Originally I had wondered how Velikas had fired at Crummock without provoking from Einar. Then I realized that the Wall of Force was in the way.
I don't think we can go back and redo any of these if they are errors -- it would change too much. At this point I'm asking in case there is something I don't understand.

*Looks around, guiltily* ummm, consistency? I mean he is out of reach of the staff...
Was he not supposed to think he was to keep fighting?
