Yarr
Hi, I'll be your GM for Solstice Scar part B. I'm here to help facilitate an awesome experience for all 7 of us, but I can't do it alone. So please feel free to help make up details regarding the world around you.
Example: You see a tree you want to climb. Tell me it's an oak, or a pine, or whatever, we can make an awesome detailed world together.
We are in a special and need to keep things moving at a fairly brisk pace but the pbp format should still leave us time to describe things. I generally post 2-3 times most days and will be botting people as needed if unresponsive for ~24 hours. I'll do my best to pick what I think your character would do, but feel free to leave notes in your profile or otherwise let me know upcoming plans if you expect to be unavailable.
I know way to many rules for my own good but still make plenty of mistakes. If something seems off please feel free to mention it here in discussion, sometimes the answer might be you're right but it's not important so we'll just roll with it, I'll fix things as needed and sometimes you'll just get vague answers like it's something in the scenario.
Here and up above you can find the link to the google slides we'll be using for maps and handouts etc.
At the moment there's only 1 slide, and it's got a bit for each of you to fill in your initiative, perception and sense motive bonus. (Obviously they may change based on buffs and conditions but it'll be of great help to me to have the base line at least.
In the future it will contain various maps and handouts.
---
If you'd all take a moment to introduce yourselves (not your characters) and let me know what Solstice Scars you've played and/or GMed before.
Hi, my name is Robert although a lot of people call me Pirate Rob. I'm the former VC of San Francisco and owner of pfsprep.com
I've played Solstice Scar A & B (both IRL and pbp) but have not GMed either before.
Idruzi Zarshai |
My name is Nathan and I'm a Venture Agent from Lehi, Utah. I've GM'd Solstice A & B but I've only played A.
I haven't been doing play-by-post for long, but I think I've got the hang of it. Doing a special like this is new. It's probably relevant to know that I know Chess Pwn in real life, so we can contact each other if one of us starts missing posts I guess.
My character sheet should be up to date.
Character: 37150-12
Faction: Silver Crusade
Belinda Bluefoot |
I've played and GMed SSA in both core and standard, PBP and FTF
I've GMed and played SSB in Core in PBP, and I'm a backup GM for the second run of SSB.
As such, I'll try to avoid taking the lead too much, unless it is something that Belinda totally would want to do.
PFS 100387-13
Faction: Scarab Sages
Idruzi Zarshai |
At this pace we might end up with a full table of Solstice B GMs playing.
Hamith |
Unfortunately I have not GM'ed Solstice Scar (or any other PFS special). I've played version A with this character before.
My name is John. I've been playing Pathfinder for about eight years now, but only started doing PBP for a year and a half.
Character: 234492-1
Faction: Grand Lodge
Buddy 995 |
Thomas, First time doing a PBP, I've played A and GM'd B.

We're starting tomorrow (Saturday) right?
lucklesshero |
Hi guys...I'm sorry I thought someone would take me off the sign in sheet. I realized I had signed up for two games almost a week and a half ago. I tried to give the spot away and thought the Venture officers would handle it. GMBatpony thought it best to go to the waiting list however. HERE's the link..(so you know I'm not a total flake) with BatPony's response bellow. Anyway long story short (too late) I can't play with you all...I already am playing in another game. If you want a quick replacement you might try and PM GM Batpony; if not you'll need to go to the waiting list..sorry if I held up the game. Have fun! FYI I should mention I would have played Petrok the Shaman in your game...GL again all!
Pirate GM |
All good luckless, we'll sort it out.
Soft start tonight, with some intro and other bits, more to come over the weekend and on Monday night.
Idruzi Zarshai |
For the rest of the party, Idruzi is built as a battle cleric primarily and his complement of spells is a little short at level 3. He frequently memorizes Bull's Strength in one of his domain slots, though it would be good to know whether anyone can make effective use of that at this point. If anyone has specific spell requests, let me know. He does not have much in Knowledge (Religion) and nothing in Heal.
For the GM's information, his build uses relatively common options for the most part. His domains are Travel and Frenzy, so he'll be moving at 30' even in his plate armor. He does have the Channeling Force feat, which he can use alongside his Ferocious Strike domain power to get some nice spike damage. He also has some minor energy resistances he obtained from a chronicle boon.
Belinda Bluefoot |
Cat's grace would be good for me :-)
Belinda is a total melee monster. But also a bit of a glass cannon - as is the case for most inspired blades.
She doesn't have the panache to make lots of parries that you see from most swashbucklers.
Idruzi Zarshai |
Cat's Grace is not a Cleric thing, sadly. How are Belinda's saving throws so high? None of mine are up to the level of your worst one, and I don't normally think of Swashbuckler as a high-save class.
Belinda Bluefoot |
Let's see. I've finding all sorts of issues with my characters today, and it has been a while since I actually played Belinda.
2/5/2 base
1/5/1 for stats
1/1/1/ for cloak
2/2/2 for race with fates favored (*)
0/0/1 for trait Indomitable faith
0/0/2 for iron will
2/0/0 for great fortitude
8/13/9 total
Wow, that actually worked.
(*)Although I think I've done fate's favored wrong. As that is for luck bonus, and while the halfling save bonus is called lucky halfing, I seem to recall it is a racial one. I'll have to double-check that, but it would make them all one too high at the moment.
Idruzi Zarshai |
It does look like the halfling 'luck' bonus is actually a racial one. If you've been sinking feats and traits into your save that also explains a lot.
Watch for luck bonuses coming later, though. I'm starting with a Prayer memorized.
For everyone: another thing I remembered that would be good for me to know is how much of a deflection bonus to AC your characters have, as I have a few Shield of Faith memorized.
Belinda Bluefoot |
No deflection here. But I think I am likely to be spending a bit of cash Real Soon Now.
+1 mithril chain shirt - 2100gp
Cloak upgrade to +2 3000gp
Correcting the cost of her existing rapier which is 200gp too low
Belt of Dex +2 (4000gp)
Amulet of natural armor +1 (2000gp)
Selling existing chain shirt for 50
Total cost $11150
Chess Pwn |
I'm an archer with mutagen. So getting an hour of downtime to make more for myself is useful, though probably not required.
I have an adaptive bow so bull's str can work on me for damage if there's not a better recipient or spell choice.
No deflection but AC isn't great so probably not the best choice to receive the buff.
Little Lya |
Hey guys.
I was offered the open spot off the waitlist. Name is AJ, VL from Minnesota.
I've played and GM'ed both A and B.
59286-4
Faction: Exchange
I will be bringing my pacifist Lya. Paladin of Shelyn. Can talk an Orc into trading a falchion for a paint brush. She will not however attack for lethal damage against creatures other than undead and evil outsiders.
(will level up to 6 in an hour or two)
Pirate GM |
Please make sure to fill in the first slide linked with initiative, perception and sense motive bonuses.
Pirate GM |
Hamith: Please add your bonuses to the initiative slide.
ChessPwn: Can you please add an image to Buddy and come join us in Gameplay.
Magabeus is our 6th, but I believe was away from his computer this weekend. We'll have him join us when possible or just suffer with 5.
As a note, I tend to describe rooms based on taking 10 on perception, please feel free to make perception checks as desired to look around at things in more detail.
Pirate GM |
I'm going to slow roll moving forward here to give us a chance to get all together. I do expect to move forward ~10am PST on Tuesday even if we haven't gotten people sorted yet.
Myrd Sharpclaw |
Hi GM and party! This is Magabeus! I was indeed away from my computer the second half of last week. I am level 6 and have to update my profile. Will do so ASAP.
I have played and GMed version A and am now also GMing B (at another 5-6 table as luck has it, so I will take a backseat on the decision making)
Player Gerard / Magabeus
PFS 24861-10
Faction Sovereign Court
Downtime Use to build network in Taldor's noble hierarchy
Knowledge Nobility DC 18: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Belinda Bluefoot |
I know I'd be asking how Belinda gets to +17 damage. And the answer is because swashbuckers are melee damage dealing glass cannons.
+6 from fencing grace (dex)
+6 from precise strike (swashbuckler)
+2 from weapon specialisation
+2 from rapier training (inspired blade archetype)
+1 from rapier

***Token #2***
Current Boosts:
-Provide Spellcasting (Lesser Restoration; CL 5th)
-Boosted Healing
Knowledge arcana 13 (from Puck, who has no luck. He rolled a one and was undone)
Pirate GM |
Ouch, sorry Idruzi :(
AoO has power attack, reducing attack from +12 to +9. Primary attack then has furious focus and +2 from flank in case you want to peek at the GM dice and are curious why the attack values are so different
Also, It's possible we'll get a boosted breath of life aid token. Depending on what's available out there.
Idruzi Zarshai |
It looks like I have a boon source to cast Stone Shield if it isn't too late for that...although I'm not sure if stopping the crit is enough to save me. I'll take another look through my boons later to see if anything else looks helpful.
Idruzi Zarshai |
Unless my math is wrong, I effectively took three hits and any two of them is enough to kill me (it's close but an average damage roll on two hits from this guy is enough with the energy drain). There is a legal sequence of actions that could save me, though I'm not sure it's reasonable to allow me to do it.
* Lay on Hands myself after first hit (requires me to not do Force Channeling) - Lay on Hands is 1/adventure from Silver Crusade faction.
* Stone Shield the second attack to prevent a crit.
Aside from hoping for a Breath of Life token, that's the best I have. Can that spell even go on an aid token?
Buddy 995 |
I'm not seeing anything on the Token link about a Breath of Life being an option.
Personally I think it's safe to say that you'd wait to use your swift until it's time to use it and thus after the surprise attack that hit for a lot you'd use your heal.
The stone shield seems okay knowing how hard he hit but it is a tougher call.
Pirate GM |
Aid token, provide spell casting can have any spell put on it.
Feel free to use LoH instead of Channeling force, and then the stone wall thingy, it's always a little rough to use reactionary abilities based on changing circumstances so in pbp and am happy to be flexible whenever possible, eveen if you might not have initially though about it.
Imagine that moment IRL where the wight hits you the first time and the GM leans in and describes the vicious bloodthirsty monster about to attack again, maybe hinting that you do things to help prevent your impending demise.
Assuming the first 2 d6s of the crit are the normal damage roll, that that's still...
23 + NegLevel from the first hit and 23+Neg from the second hit. For a total of -14/32
Assuming you get more than 2hp from the LoH that should keep you alive...
Idruzi Zarshai |
Rolled high enough to survive in the gameplay thread. Thank you.
Idruzi will be looking for a spellcasting of Restoration once it is available. I think the Pathfinder caravan is assumed to be able to do things like that in this part of the scenario. Since the negative levels are (currently) temporary, I think the 100g version will suffice to remove them both?
GMG |

Passing Aid Token to: Pirate GM
Current Boosts:
Provide Knowledge: Spellcraft (Average) Mun of Ashava
Provide Knowledge: Arcana (Average) Kioshi Katsu
Pirate GM |
I am unfamiliar with any special rules regarding spellcasting services during Solstice Scar but I'll ask.
Belinda Bluefoot |
I assume that between parts we would have access to higher level pathfinders to cast spells, but not within. As there are typically several days to rest and recover in those junctures.
Idruzi Zarshai |
When I GM'd this, our overseer said that whether the resources were available (we're not in a big town) depended on the outcome of Part 2 from Solstice A. Since that part isn't being played this time, it was assumed that the resources were available. But whatever works, I guess.
Myrd Sharpclaw |
Sorry folks, I have some real life things to take care of. Hope to be back into business on Thursday. Please bot me.
Myrd Sharpclaw |
I am on a sailing trip until Sunday, please bot me if needed.
Little Lya |
I am happy to put bardic performance into the aid token for boost and pass it on again.
Idruzi Zarshai |
If I remember right, due to the House result we won't get pre-buff rounds before the next encounter. How much time has passed between that combat and this one, though? I'm assuming that Idruzi's minute/level buffs expired during the fey conversation, so I guess only his Bless is in question.
Pirate GM |
Good questions about time.
Fey encounter took say 30 minutes with another minutes: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 to get to the cave entrance with the bear.
From there time is on the gameplay thread with 2d3 total minutes between that encounter and the upcoming one.
Idruzi Zarshai |
Idruzi's day job:
Profession (Bartender): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 - Wow. That new drink of his really was good.
Thank you GM!
Little Lya |
Thank you for running Rob!

perform day job reroll: 1d20 + 38 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 38 + 4 = 54

Info looks good,
I'm out all afternoon, I'm hoping to have chronicle sheets up by late tonight.
Myrd Sharpclaw |
Thank you for running Rob!
Team, I had great fun with you, thank you all!
