Grandmaster TOZ |
*does a double-take at Rogar's Str score* Uh...probably just say Rogar drags it into position. The scenario doesn't give a weight, but they are 15ft tall, which should cover you.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Well then... ok!
Once sure Spengler isn't going to free himself Rogar drags the broken door into position...
Does this turn Spengler back to normal? We could also try the thing you put on Rogar's head that restored his sight
Vim the Wise |
Good idea with the mask thing!
Vim places the mask on Spengler's head, as he did with Rogar.
"Stop. Squirming!"
Grandmaster TOZ |
Sadly, the mask appears to have no effect on mental compulsions. Spengler still continues to demand the disc. And also his freedom.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"Yeah yeah yeah... nothing better than a good night in jail to cool down antisocial tendencies caused by the worship of elder evils!" jokes Rogar carrying Spengler away after the others.
"Now... maybe we should try asking for help. That woman we met before entering here... maybe she could give us a hand getting Spengler back to noirmal?"
Vim the Wise |
Maybe... At least she'd be able to keep an eye on him... (And further reduce the number of PCs :O)
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Which woman is the party going to go see?
Arletta. She told us the rest of the camp was somehow charmed but considering what happened to Spengler I think they are in the serpent's thrall too. Arletta surely wasn't though since she clearly explained to us about the symptoms. Maybe she's got a suggestion?
Rogar while carrying the bound (and squirming) form of Spengler Rogar adresses the others:"Let's go back to Arletta's maybe she's got an idea on how to break the enchantment on Spengler's mind"
Grandmaster TOZ |
Arletta looks less than impressed as the party carries Spengler into the camp. "So you've seen what's beyond the breach then." Her expression is resigned, her words more stating fact than asking for confirmation.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"Yeah we did... and he did too as you can see. Now... do you have any idea on how to break this malady on our friend? He's starting to get obnoxious..." Rogar asks Arletta
Grandmaster TOZ |
"Maybe even more obnoxious than Juliet..." she mutters in return. "I don't know what else you want me to tell you..." She pauses, listening to Spengler's shouts. "...but I can at least tell that he's not going to stop trying to follow the suggestion until it's complete or the effect wears off." She shrugs helplessly. "Judging by the rest of the team, that will be a long while. The only other course I can think of is to try and get the sphere to do to him whatever it did to me."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"Which was?" inquires Rogar before putting Spengler down on the floor... and immediately having to stop him from wiggling away.
Vim the Wise |
At the mention of the sphere, Vim perks up.
"Fascinating! How did you originally interact with the sphere? And why do you suspect it might help Spengler?"
Grandmaster TOZ |
Arletta rubs at her temples, her brow furrowed. "For the third time, I touched it. I don't remember exactly what I did, brushed against it, wiped the powder off, but my head cleared up from whatever that thing did to me. " She glances at Spengler with a frustrated grimace. "Can we gag him until you figure out how to fix him?"
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"Yeah... you've got a point about te gag. The rest of the camp is under the serpent's thrall too you say? Maybe we should try to get them to touch that sphere too then" so saying Rogar rips some clothing and uses it to gag his recalcitrant companion...
"Yes, yes... you are being opressed... such is the way of life unfortunately Spengler! Believe me you will thank me later..." so saying Rogar carries Spengler up the stairs leading to the sphere and rubs his cheecks against the artefact...
Grandmaster TOZ |
Vim the Wise |
"No harm, no foul ol' chap. Now let's get back to work."
Vim moves back to the door he was headed towards before the rude interruption. The door he's at on the map.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Rogar eyes Spengler suspiciously:"How do we know this isn't just a rouse? Spengler... tell me the truth: do you still want to give the stone disk to the elder evil serpent monstuosity hiding back in the temple???" asks Rogar
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7
Then the fighter turns towards his other companions:"If this sphere has this effect we may use it to break the enchantment on the rest of the camp. Anyone skilled with lies? Let's tell them that if they touch the sphere they'll gain the ability to see the invisible and find what theya re searching for... And by the way we could use some of this resistance ourselves if we are to face that thing again..." so saying Rogar touches the sphere himself.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Rogar now has a coating of powder on his hand. He sees that the sphere has become noticeably less covered in the substance, the inner glow more visible without the covering.
Vim finds that, once the party gets the door open, the second crypt looks much like the first, only barren and empty of interesting items.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"mmmmh... I dunno... that's not saying much after all..." chuckles Rogar before untieing Spengler.
"On a more serious note... I guess what dispelled the enchantment was this powder and not the sphere itself... Everyone of us should touch... then we need to find the other disks before our fellow pathfinders here decide to feed them to the elder evil serpent lurking inside the temple..."
Vim the Wise |
"Good idea, Rogar."
Vim goes back and gives the sphere a good grope, before heading back to the last unexamined room.
Grandmaster TOZ |
You believe that you have maybe a third of an hour before the monolith breaches the door at this point. Is everyone helping Vim with the last unopened door?
Grandmaster TOZ |
As the party grinds the doors open, they see this wide room has two alcoves to the west and east. The western alcove bears mosaics of a burly cyclops with a flail and shield. In one image, a human with a conical hat hands the cyclops the flail; in each other image, the large cyclops is smashing fiends or serpent-headed humanoids with it. A large slab in this alcove is empty, but a shelf above it contains a fine- looking heavy flail and a steel shield. The smaller alcove to the east contains two slabs; above them are depictions of a pair of cyclopes servants tending to the burly cyclops’s needs.
More immediately, four large serpents appear to be waiting to strike! As they move to engage the party, it quickly becomes apparent that instead of four serpents, you face only two, but each has a snake head at both ends of its body! Thankfully, one seems stunted and runty, the second head dragging on the ground as it slithers forward. 4-player adjustment in action!

Grandmaster TOZ |
Spengler's arrow deflects off the tough scales of the serpentine beast. Twin maws dart out at Rogar and Vim, but their own defenses protect them from the sharp fangs. The great monster slithers back after its failed assault.

Chak Chak casts shield of faith on himself and moves towards the vile reptiles.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 if needed no problem re AoO AC 20 now
I'm on my phone can someone move me towards the closest snake please
Grandmaster TOZ |
That may involve an AoO. Let me know if that is okay and I'll make the adjustment when I update the initiative tonight.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Snakes why did it have to be snakes?!?! thinks Rogar as he prepares to face the reptilian foes despite a sudden sense of deja vu...
That was manadatory, sorry!
Grandmaster TOZ |
Chak Chak dances past the runt, easily dodging the serpents darting bite.
