The figure crawls through one of the tents, straightening up to regard the party. Long hair frames the woman's face in awkward tangles, but her eyes are clear enough. "Arletta's me. You're reinforcements, huh? How about those snakes out there, hmm? Seen any stone discs laying about?" Her gaze shifts past the party to the rest of the archaeologists. "How's Juliet's mood today?"

"Well... we had to kill an hydra in order to get here. As for stone disks I unfortunately saw none... yet" says Rogar smiling brightly at the newcomer.

"Stone disks? No... We were told that you are ill. Is there anything we can do to help?"
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Well... depends. We should probably study them and if there's anything to learn from them gain any insight we can. That is if they prove to be non dangerous artefacts, of course" Rogar answers, carefully choosing his words.

The pillar it rests on seems to be just over fifteen feet in diameter, with the sphere taking up most of the room. It's difficult to judge from below, however.
"Pathfinders through and through, the lot of you. But at least you don't seem to be under any...bad influences." Arletta steps closer, lowering her voice. "The rest of the camp is under some sort of charm. I've studied enough magic to see the signs. I was enchanted, same as them, until I happened to touch the sphere up there. The rest of the team were very quick to blame the sphere for my 'illness', far too quick to be a coincidence." She glances among all of you. "What do you plan on doing now?"
Vim the Wise

Vim approaches the sphere and casts Detect Magic in an attempt to figure out what's what..

Steep, narrow stairs lead up to this platform, thirty feet above the lower chambers. The platform faces south, with a commanding view of the Terwa Uplands. An immense ivory hemisphere fills the platform, leaving only a few feet of stone around its edges. If this balcony once had a railing, it has long since crumbled away, leaving a vertiginous drop to the stones below.
Arletta watches Vim climb the steps. "Not much for conversation, is he?" she notes to the rest of the party.
Vim the Wise

Vim scratches his beard while relaying what he has found.
"Judging by the aura surrounding this thing, I'd say it's some form of ward or protection. Its purpose eludes me, though... We should search the rest of the complex for clues."
| Grandmaster TOZ |
"Well, I suppose you'd know best." Arletta looks less than assured. "If you're going to be snooping around, best steer clear of the breech in the wall. It's down the hall through the smashed doorway, and it's dangerous. And whatever you're going to do, don't dally. I'm worried that monolith is going to do something we'll all regret."

As he's about to descend the steps, Vim catches a detail out of the corner of his eye.
"Arletta, has anyone tuched the sphere?"

Rogar Valertis Alastoris

"Venturing a guess here... perhaps touching the sphere thing wasn't the brightest of ideas..." mutters Rogar following the others
Vim the Wise
|
"Well, we'd better search this site thoroughly then."
Vim opens the door to the east of the sphere.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"No I don't agree at all. What if is blasts us or steals our sould or whatever else these things do?" asks a worried Rogar
Spengler
|
"It did not seem to adversely affect Arletta. Why should it harm me? And if it does, we have a better understanding of its effects." He pauses and looks more serious than usual. "Knowledge requires sacrifice. I am willing to provide such."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Oh well...." still shaking his head Rogar decides to help with the door despite the words he just uttered...

Vim casts a Light spell and ventures into the hallway.
"Fascinating..."
Any checks we can make on the gouges?
| Grandmaster TOZ |
Able to see more clearly, Vim can see the east wall bears numerous mosaics of cyclopes in battle with smaller, serpent-headed humanoids. Along the southern wall, stylized humans with conical hats debark from graceful ships. These humans lift up packages of spears, swords, and stranger weapons to the cyclopes battling the serpent-headed creatures. The gouges have damaged the murals slightly, and the sound of steady pounding of metal and stone is louder, echoing down the passage.
No checks to make here.
Vim the Wise

Vim moves down the hallway towards the clanging sound.
"Will you gentlemen be joining me?", he shouts over his shoulder.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Why not? Let's check this place out... it's why we came after all" says Rogar while drawing his sword.
| Grandmaster TOZ |
The crashing noise grows louder, coming from another open doorway on the left, the doors crushed to the floor in a similar manner to the ones closer to the entrance. As Vim turns the corner, he sees the walls of this large, vaulted room are carved with stylized astronomical symbols. The south wall contains a pair of immense doors made of stone. Smaller doors on the east wall have been battered inward. The north wall contains four large panels, each eight feet above the ground with a central gap about seven inches wide and an inch deep.
Above the four panels are blocky letters, and below them, mosaics featuring sway-backed cyclopes. The chamber’s floor displays a stylized depiction of Golarion and its moon traveling around the sun. More immediately interesting is the massive monolith before the southern doors, the source of the racket. Tirelessly, it raises its fists to slam them against the doors, thin cracks spreading slowly over the stone surfaces and archways. The construct is worn and tarnished, but this in no way diminishes the awesome force of its blows.
Spengler
|
Spengler looks to the monolith, then to Vim and Rogar. "Indeed, I have followed you to what looks like certain death. I applaud your ability to discover the most definitely dangerous situation imaginable without touching the white sphere. Huzzah."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"YOU on the other hand touched that sphere... and we are NOT dead yet, so stay sharp and avoid making that thing angry at us" Rogar answers Spengler while quietely backing away from the construct.
