The tengu warrior strikes out at his opponent, but the weakness running through his body prevents his blows from landing. The creature shakes its heads, reptilian eyes focusing on its prey once more.

Chack's the recipient of Vim's next reassuring pat.
Guidance on Chak. It's all the help against the poison I can give.

"See? That's why I don't like serpents... they bite! So... BITE ON THIS!!! says Rogar slashing again at the giant serpent...

Ok... is there any indication of what Slitherbane is? Given the name I suppose it's some sort of intelligent magic item who hates serpents... is it one of the items on the shelf?
Rogar moves towards the shelf checking on the stuff laying there.

The flail has a heavy spiked ball etched with stylized eagles and sunbursts. The handle has a flared pommel of eagle feathers, with a serpent in the center. The shield appears damaged beyond repair, a heavy impact having rent a hole through the center.
Heavy flail sized for a Medium creature. The shield is useless.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Well, well weeeeeellll.... what do we have here? Seems like the kind of weapon one might use to cave in some serpent's skulls..." exclaims Rogar showing the flail to the others.
Hopefully nothing bad happens... XD

Vim eyes the development with interest.
"Marvelous! I guess there's nothing left but opening the sealed doors, then."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
Rogar's visage is suddenly distorted by a spasm:"Ohhh... what now? I knew this was too good to be true! At least this time I've not been blinded..." he mutters leaving the weapon's handle.
Once he's done that he adds:"Seems like I'm not a good fit for this flail... maybe someone else could wield it more effectively?"
Vim the Wise
|
"I'm no good with complex weapons either, but if it must be me, then I shall wield it with clumsy, yet righteous glory!"
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Well if we are done here then we should go meet mister evil giant snake and skin it for good... by the way everything I touched inside here had good or more often bad properties... How was the water in that fountain for example? Any... unforseen consequences?" asks Rogar while moving out of the room

Is anyone actually taking up Slitherbane? Doing anything else? You think you have some time still before the monolith breaks down the door.
What else can we do? Seems to me we explored everything. There are some unexplained points of interest like the fountain but unless we can use the sphere to save the other pathfinders (and from your answer I think we can't). Otherwise the next thing to do is trying to save the day I think
Spengler
|
Spengler holds the weapon, staring at it. "This flail is laboring under the impression that it has a personality. As someone who has never had such a thing, I do not accept that it has one either. Flail! Cease your pointless telepathic grumbles or I will give you back to the fighter who is actually trained to use such weapons (instead of myself, who is hampered by a lack of proficiency in such weapons as well as a sudden weakness of spirit when I hold you.) In fact, Rogar, cease YOUR grumbling and take this accursed flail and use it! You are by far the most suitable wielder to what is probably a very useful part of this adventure."
Spengler hands the grumbling flail back to Rogar and resummons his own ectoplasmic weapon.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"We could aslo try to determine what to do with the disk... maybe there's more of them hanging around?" asks Rogar doing his best to change the subject and avoid having to pick up the sentient flail.

"Before we venture to far ahead..."
Vim examines the flail for a short while before being struck by a flash of insight.
Using my last focused trance for today.

Vim identifies the auras of Slitherbane as being both bane against monstrous humanoids, such as the serpentfolk the Ghol-Gan empire fought against, as well as against chaotic aligned creatures. Normally, only similarly aligned creatures would be debilitated, but as an intelligent item only creatures matching Slitherbane's ordered nature can do so. You also realize it has the capability to command creatures to escape bonds and remove the poison from its wielders body.
+1 axiomatic monstrous humanoid bane heavy flail, with the bonus of liberating command and neutralize poison. It is LN, so only Lawful characters can avoid the negative level.
