Heavy Pick Waster, DC 15 Combat Maneuver Check: 10 + 5 = 15+2 bonus to CMB against maneuvers targeting my weapon.

Also, due to my Heedless Rush ability, I can move up to my speed as an immediate action after rolling initiative, as long as I roll 11 or better. So if it triggers, just move me towards the closest enemy.

I'm also spending 2 PP for a wand of infernal healing.

During the events, the spirits of the heroes whose mask you are wearing subconsciously implants the knowledge of which actions to take to gain his or her favor.

Ceremonial Combat

Bu Lo Dama: Fight Defensively for at least 1 round while threatened by a foe.

Ilyamakano: Perform the aid another action at least once.

Lai Ligau: Successfully use Acrobatics to tumble through a threatened square at least once, or unsuccessfully attempt Acrobatics checks to tumble through a threatened square at least three times.

Nobali Hohachi: Charge an enemy.

Tiqa Vastrokardoyo: Gain cover from an attack from one of the low walls or gain a bonus from fighting from higher ground.

Whaoxi Sennen: Successfully use Bluff to feint against an opponent at least once, or unsuccessfully attempt Bluff checks to feint at least three times.

Debate

You must have ranks in certain skills to use specific tactics, so I'll list those skills here, too.

Bu Lo Dama: Use the flattery tactic (Bluff, Diplomacy, K: Nobility).

Ilyamakano: Use the allegory tactic (K: History, K: Religion, P: Act, P: Oratory).

Lai Ligau: Use the mockery tactic (Bluff, Intimidate, P: Comedy).

Nobali Hohachi: Use the presence tactic (Intimidate, K: Nobility).

Tiqa Vastrokardoyo: Use the logic tactic (Any pertinent Knowledge or Profession skill to your argument).

Whaoxi Sennen: Use the red herring tactic (Bluff, P: Oratory).

Here's what you need to know about Verbal Duels (To Seal the Shadow version) for the debate:

1. Each tactic has a set of skills associated with it.
2. You must have ranks in at least one of the associated skills in order to use that tactic.
3. You assign which associated skill you are going to use for that tactic, and then it is locked in for you.
4. You use your ranks in the associated skill, but you use your Charisma modifier instead of the skills ability to determine your bonus.
5. The assigned skill cannot be assigned to any other tactic.

For example, Bob and Tom are in a verbal duel. Bob assigns K: History to Allegory. Whenever Bob uses Allegory, he rolls 1d20+ranks in K: History+Charisma (not Intelligence). Bob cannot assign K: History to any other tactic (e.g. Logic) now. Tom assigns P: Act to Allegory. Whenever Tom uses Allegory, he rolls 1d20+ranks in P: Act+Charisma. Tom cannot assign P: Act to any other tactic.

Scenario Handout:
Tactics are the weapons of verbal dueling. At the start of each duel, each duelist can assign her skills to tactics that have those skills associated with them. A duelist can only assign a given skill to a single tactic, so if a duelist assigned Perform (oratory) to allegory, she couldn’t also assign it to emotional appeal. For the purpose of a verbal duel, a character calculates her associated skill bonus by adding her ranks in the skill (including the +3 bonus for having ranks in the skill if it is a class skill) and her Charisma modifier (regardless of which skill she chooses, unless she has the Ironclad Logic feat). If she has other modifiers to the skill, they grant her edges. A bard’s versatile performance ability allows two skills to use the bonus from a Perform skill, and a character with that ability
can assign all three of those skills to different tactics, even though he technically might only have ranks in the Perform skill. A duelist might apply bonuses or penalties to a tactic’s associated skill check due to the audience’s bias, as well as from the following considerations.

Tactics will be posted in the map folio (I hope).

The wayang team will begin this duel.

The way the exchanges work is Team 1 bets 1 "determination" (some tactics might change the opening bet) and uses a tactic. Team 2 selects a tactic to counter and ups the ante by however much is in the pot (usually 1, then 2, then 3, etc). The loser of the exchange loses that amount of determination. When you hit 0, you lose.

The wayang team will choose who is going to counter.

Certain tactics are better at opening, certain tactics are better at countering or countering specific tactics, and several have special effects (like dropping the pot back to 0).

"Edges" are re-rolls. You get one Edge per Skill Focus feat you have in an assigned skill.

Hmm, the handout states that you get an edge if you have other bonuses to a skill. Rerois gets a +1 bonus to Intimidate for being at max HP, and another bonus from his Aspiring Hellknight trait.

So for the verbal duel would my Intimidate just be 1 rank +3 Cha +3 misc, with 2 edges?

I had to go back to Ultimate Intrigue. The full rule is 1 edge per +3 of bonus. So it looks like Rerois wouldn't qualify for an edge (only 2/3rds of one).

WOuld it be helpful to have a spreadsheet of our skills paired with tactics, including bonuses, and you can help us fill in the details? Might help us keep information in a central space so that you don't have to double-check our character sheets.

Also, to confirm - can we assign an untrained skill to a tactic?

So no rerolls, but am I also denied my trait and class bonuses to Intimidate? Am I at my normal +9, or +7?

Also the character I took for the ceremony is pretty much tailor-made for Rerois. Charging and Intimidate? That's what I was going to do already :)

OK. I've read the Verbal Duel rules until my eyes are bloody. ;) So I'm calling two audibles.

If you don't have ranks, you can assign a skill but it's just a Charisma check (no other bonuses). I'm not entirely sure this is correct, so don't repeat it as RAW, but I couldn't find the rule dealing with untrained skills. The issue lies around Knowledge and Perform, but I'm ruling for the more inclusive/fun interpretation.

If you have ranks, your modifier is Ranks + Class Skill Bonus (if any) + Charisma. No other bonuses apply to the roll (except a bunch of behind the scenes GM tracked ones).

Second judgement call: in the full rules, the GM has some discretion on what to give a person with advantage in a verbal duel. I suspect this was cut out in the scenario rules to ensure a more even experience. However, at low tier this goes fast anyhow, so I'll round up and award 1 edge for +2 modifiers. Again, definitely not RAW for this scenario.
