Gellius Dandrae |
Gellius rolled his eyes. "Gargoyle 'statues'. Right. Never trust anything shaped like a humanesque monster with wings, even if it doesn't appear to me moving.
"I'm all for going after the secret cache of weapons, but research should be the priority. Someone friendlier than me should probably check out the other libraries. I tend to scare people too much."
With a nod towards Ioann, he mentions "I assure you, this sword is not for show."
Ravel Sigrún |
Ravel smiles as her comrades speak in turn. "Sir Orin, I shall leave the straight and narrow to you and Ingrid. I've walked in too many shadows to be fully in the light. I would like to peruse the books, the Professor held them for a reason and I would hate for something as simple as lack of knowledge be our undoing if we're going to be following in his footsteps."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Turning to Ioann, "You did indeed miss my conversation with Ake. I am a dreamweaver. My talents lie in the eldritch arts of dreams, slumber, and that which transpires between the waking and dreams worlds." She extends her hands, smiling as she reveals her talons. "I assure you these nails are useful for more than ruining any gloves I purchase. Where do your strengths rest, Ioann?"
While waiting for a response, Ravel inquires of their hostess, "Is there anything you can tell us of the restless dead, or any townsfolk we should specifically avoid in questioning, particularly those who barred our way during the procession? And if we find anything that should lead us to believe the dear Professor's death was anything more than coincidence we shall let you know at once."
DM Twilight |
"I'm afraid I will not be of much use to you in learning about the ghosts that are said to haunt Harrowstone, other than to tell you what everyone in Ravengro already knows. Harrowstone was a prison that housed some of the most dangerous criminals around, in 4661 there was a fire in the prison set during a riot. Everyone in the prison died, including the warden and the guards."
"As for the group that attempted to stop my father being buried, the only one that is likely to give you any real gruff would be Gibs Hephenus. He was the ringleader of the group. Apparently he believes that my father was a necromancer, and as such shouldn't have been buried in the Restlands. He is an ignorant old fool."
"I thank you for that, Ravel. I feel that too many around here see me as being too delicate to handle the truth. In reality, I think that it is they who are too delicate to face the truth. I don't believe my father's death was an accident, and anything that you are willing to do to help me uncover the truth will leave me forever in your debt."
"The Town Hall will have far more information about Harrowstone and those that died in the fire, but it might be tricky to convince them to allow you to access the records. The Temple of Pharasma would have extensive records, but again they may be hesitant to allow you access. Perhaps with Ingrid's association they might be more keen to listen to her. There is also The Unfurling Scroll, but Alendru Ghoroven will charge you on a daily basis for access. The good side of that is, you will not need to convince Mr. Ghoroven to allow you access. Of course, as I already said, my father's books are available to you as well."
DM Twilight |
"Gibs is a retired soldier and farmer. His belief that my father was a necromancer was nothing more than a conglomeration of rumors and half truths. It was no secret that my father had unusual interests and researched many topics that were frowned upon by the locals. I am sure you could try to talk to him, if you were of a mind to, but I warn that you must take everything that man says with a grain of salt."
Ioann Vilescu |
Earlier
Ioann stops in his tracks when Ravel asks about his abilities. For a moment, he lifts his head to look at the ceiling. After lowering it again, he answers with a wry smile.
"Apparently, my expression scares off people... but if it ever comes to able, I can handle a blade, I have had years of formal training."
He taps on the dagger hanging from his belt, and briefly looks at the bundle he carries before pacing again.
Now
Still pacing Ioann listen to the others discussing their plans.
This is so long, the ruins of the prison are near, the cache of weapons agains the undead so close, why wait? What will those name be useful for... only the professor knew. Ah well, at least I will get time to read the book on hunger.
Please note that Ioann's opinion is not mine!

"It seems we should indeed question Mr. Hephenus, though perhaps not in our full assembly. At the moment we have our leisure of the month to pursue these avenues. The ringleader, Pharasma's temple, and The Unfurling Scroll seem like very good places to begin. We thank you for that, Kendra. So, the day is young... shall we put to vote where we would like to begin in following the Professor's trail? Those who do not wish to engage in this endeavor need not accompany the rest, but I believe curiosity as well as loyalty to the Lorrimors is a trait we all share."
That's the fun of portraying a role, Ioann!
Ravel smiles as she runs a finger to stroke her bat's chin. "Daily charges or no, my vote is for the Unfurling Scroll. I am quite curious to see what that bookery holds."
Ravel's gaze rests on the various tomes around the room. "O carte buna pe raft este un prieten care se întoarce cu spatele la tine și rămâne un prieten."
Orin Gabor |
Orin looks over at Ravel and nods. "A month's time, yes. But leisure I'm not sure of. We do have those things we can do, so we can probably follow them up as wanted or needed.
He looks at the group and smiles. "Perhaps those of us who wish it persue what we may in our own fashions. I, personally, would like to discuss things with this Gibs fellow, though perhaps someone with a more gentle touch is better suited..."
Ingrid Van der Geist |
"I believe that I may find the best results speaking with those at the temple. I could do so today, I normally check in with them when I'm in the area anyway so it would not be out of place." Ingrid chimes in.
Ravel Sigrún |
Day 1 and we're splitting the party... this will end well.
"If we spread out we can get into much more mischief that way. I would like to visit the Unfurling Scroll. Ake, would you like to accompany me? If anyone has any avenues of inquiry you wish for me to look into while there, please let me know."
Ravel Sigrún |
Alright, everybody keep those Perception checks vs Disguise at the ready! And watch out for Globetrotters.
"Orin I would be glad for your company. It will gives us a chance to get to know each other." Ravel winks and laughs lightly. "So if the three of us follow the scholarly trail, and Ingrid checks in with her people, what shall the rest of you do? I don't think we need to tackle every scent in one go."
Ravel sings a soft lullaby to herself and pets her bat while the others decide what to do. "Cinci rațe mici s-au într-o zi
Peste dealuri și departe
Mama rață spus, 'Vraci, vraci, vraci, vraci,'
dar numai patru rațe mici au leganat înapoi..."
Over the hills and far away
Mama duck said, 'Quack, quack, quack, quack,'
but only four little ducks came waddling back..."
Ingrid Van der Geist |
"Gellius would you care to tag along?"
Ake of the Stolen Soul |
Pulls out a small not pad and begins to jot down the strange words everyone is speaking, mouthing the sounds as she attempts to puzzle out the meaning and context.
She also starts to bounce on her feet and pace restlessly at the opportunity to peruse new books, giggling quietly in a most unsettling, goblin way!
Her notes are a jumbled mix of pictographs, Celestial, Halfling, Taldan, and Halfling that make perfect sense to her and perhaps her alone.
Ravel Sigrún |
Ravel smiles at Ake's excitement. "So I think we should do some investigating apart during the day, and tonight, if all are willing, we should seek that cache together. If the threats of Harrowstone are enough to have given the Professor pause, we would be wise to heed his advice. Ingrid, would you be able to delicately inquire about such weapons without alerting your temple to our intentions? No disrespect to your brothers and sisters, but the less people know about this the better... for now."
Orin Gabor |
Orin smiles at Ravel and nods. "If we're to be companions for the next month, the better we know each other the better, yes?" He looks over at Ake with a similar smile. "And we should head out soon or Ake here will walk their feet off pacing like that."
He looks at the others, rearranges the gear he has on and frowns a little. "Considering how hostile the locals are, perhaps those of us trained in the ways of combat should look into keeping our weapons at hand."

bah! time wasted...
Ioann reaches for Serving your Hunger and heavily sits on a couch. After opening the first page, but without taking his eyes off the pages, he addresses the others:
"Professor Lorrimor mentionned that time was of the essence, so we need to hurry if we want to capture the members of the Way... I will stay here and read through this." he says, is voice filled with impatience.
"Sper rață -mi reveni." he adds before hungrily devouring the pages of the book with his eyes.

You people are wasting time, we need to hurry up! so I'm just gonna sit here and read this book. LOL
Ingrid nods in response to Ravel’s suggestion then turns to Gellius with a smile. ”Then shall we?”
Terrance Foehammer |
Terrance looks over I do not feel comfortable going to a church for the dead.
I will accompany Ravel to the Unfurling Scroll.
He then stands up and heads out the door after Ravel.
DM Twilight |
Kendra digs through a stack of things in one of her father's studies and brings out a town map. She shows you on the map where the temple is located, as well as The Unfurling Scroll.
The Temple of Pharasma is located at E on the map.
The Unfurling Scroll is located at L on the map.
Ravel Sigrún |
And where is the Lorrimor house on the map?
Until tonight, loves." Ravel thanks Kendra for showing them the map, fetches Narcissa's cage from her chambers and heads out the door.
Ravel will make idle chitchat with everyone to/from the building and in between DM posts.
Orin Gabor |
Orin chuckles as they head towards The Unfurling Scroll. "An honor to serve those more intelligent than I, I assure you. Though I am not unlettered, mind you. My focus just is in the natural world, among the tree and hills, beast large and small."
He shrugs as they trudge on. "I slept well, Lady Ravel. I trust you did as well?"
Ingrid Van der Geist |
With Gellius in tow, Ingrid heads in the direction of the Lady's Temple.
Terrance Foehammer |
Terrance looks at Ravel Aye, I did sleep well. He then starts to grin Although, I know I will be of no use for the high shelves.

Well, it seems those people seemed to be in too much of a hurry
With that, loosens his warhammer in the belt holder. In case it is necessary
Ioann Vilescu |
Hello GM TWilight, if it is okay with you, I will cut a bit on the play posts since Ioann is alone (well, not in the presence of other characters), instead I will write quite a bit ooc.
So, Ioann's plan is to read the book as in depth as possible because he believes he might find out how to get rid of the curse of his sword (seen as hunger for blood). How long will that take him? If he as time he will also read On Verified Madness.

Once you get close enough, you are able to tell that the monument is in recognition of the guards who died in the fire that killed everyone in Harrowstone prison. The group surrounding the memorial seem to be bickering about who could have done this and who should be the one to clean it up.
Gellius Dandrae |
Gellius pauses for a moment, then says with a sigh "I guess we should check to see what kind of blood that is. And by we I mean me, unless you've been keeping your alchemy skills from the rest of us."
Gellius walks right past the people bickering in front of the monument with a short "Excuse me, doing science." as he pulls out two vials from his backpack - one empty and one with a steaming red liquid.
I'm assuming it's a craft (alchemy) to ID the blood - otherwise I'm about to look like an idiot. :p
Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Gellius Dandrae |
All his caution is for naught when the vial of blood explodes in his face.
"What the hell? Guess I haven't gotten that formula right then. Let's get a closer look." He then brings his head so he's only half an inch away from the blood and examines it thoroughly.
Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 20
