Before everyone comes running she looks at Chris, "Okay, don't freak out or anything...but, I told the druid I saw about your scar and how it resembled the carver's work and...they want me to bring you to them. I'm not sure...but they may be able to provide some answers that we can't."
Then once everyone is there, "I'm sorry for all the yelling and excitement....but, earlier today we went to this shop and Chris was talking to the shopkeep....anyways, he was asking about the last place he remembered being before he ended up with a three year memory gap, and though he couldn't tell us at the time...Chris asked him to send word if he learned anything or heard anything about the place....some alchemy shop or something. Well...this package is from said shopkeeper. I have no idea what's inside it, it might be something completely harmless....but, considering everything we've been through I thought it would be better if we were with him when he opened it....just in case." She has to forcibly stop herself from shaking as the memories of everything they've been through in the last few days come colliding through her brain at once.
Taking a deep breath she also recounts as quickly as possible her encounter with the druid, Chris's scar, and that the druids wanted her to bring him back for them to see.
Whew....I think that's all of it. That's a lot of stuff to remember this late at night. Lol
Gashka |
Before her explanation to everyone else.
She sighs, "I'm sorry...but, they said themselves that they've never even heard of anyone surviving the carver." She looks down, "They know what it is to lose people...good people to that maniac. Those ruins are like what's left of some old temple that was used by the shadow hand. I just...I don't know...I get feelings about certain things sometimes, and something was telling me to tell them. With everything we've already been through, how can we not trust them. If not them...than who? They've been in Polaris for a very very long time. I thought if anyone could tell us something that might help us not end up dead....I thought it would be them. We don't have all the answers and people keep dying and those bastards always seem just one step ahead of us....I was trying to help us get some answers that would help us and you. I'm sorry....I was only trying to help."
She says it all kinda fast, taken aback by his reaction.
Tikkle |
Tikkle offers the woman messenger a handshake and politely requests that she wait for the package to be opened before she heads off, "in case we should need to send a reply." he explains.
He watches from the railing, wondering what to do about the tizzy Gashka had worked herself into.

Greetings Laddie,
I know you have no reason to trust this, but I swear this is for your own good. The book in your hand is a False-Spellbook. It has the appearance of one that a non-necromatic wizard might carry with him. You see, I've come across many Witches in my time that had very good hearts, yet the Legion did not hesitate to put them to the sword. So I've developed this item to help protect ones such as yourself. If you come across a Legion Patrol, hopefully you never do, or anyone sympathic to their cause, then this book might help convince them you're not a Witch.
Signed,
Choztu Spellshard, Servant of the Arcanum Protectorate

Chris' eyes flash blue as he reads the note. He then turns to the others. "This is something to keep the Legion from dragging me off immediately should we run into them. A prop."
The witch turns the book over in his hands and flips through its pages as he detects for any magical properties.
Christophe Debroux |
"Hmm, this is quite nice," Chris mutters to himself. He pondered the dwarf's reasons for sending such an invaluable item, but shakes his head. "I guess we better see those druids, Gashka."
Gashka |
Shocked by the revelation, but glad that it wasn't something that would immediately try to kill them, she looks around at everyone there with an embarrassed and somewhat sheepish look on her face.
"Okay...sorry I freaked out...but, I didn't know what to think with everything that's been going on, and if something was gonna jump out and attack us, or try to suck us into some strange place....I thought we should all be nearby."
She looks back at Tikkle for a moment and just shrugs her shoulders before addressing Chris.
"Yeah...okay. Chevalier is down in the hold....do you want to take him ...or walk? Taking him would be quicker....but, I don't know if you're up to that kind of ride yet."
Gashka |
She simply nods at Flynt and Anyka before turning back to Chris. Her shoulders slightly slumped she says, "Alright...I guess we'll be back as soon as we can. I'll call if....if there's trouble. Chevalier is still saddled in case a couple need to get there post hasty like." With that she starts to head off the ship with Chris.

Chris stays quiet for most of their trip through town, Renard walking ahead of the two. Before they reach the grove, he glances at the half-orc. "I appreciate you trying to help me, but...I'm trying to do my best to keep a low profile here. I want answers, like you, but...I fear there aren't many understanding people in this town, in this world. I am a slap in the face of the gods. That's how the Legion views me and how average people think of me. There are a million stories people will tell you about my kind, none good. They write books about how to kill me effectively and most of them are gruesome. If these druids aren't open-minded...oublie, I guess we'll see what happens."

She looks down, barely able to restrain the look of grief on her face at what she'd done. She didn't mean to cause any harm, she just wanted to help and wasn't thinking. She seemed to do a lot of that lately.
She nods and can't seem to stop the pitiful tear from falling as she looks at the ground, "I'm sorry....I wasn't thinking." She tries to wipe her face and suck in her emotions as they enter the grove.

Chris knew that Gashka was coming from a good place, but she had unwittingly been thrust into a new world, where death loomed around every corner. "Don't let it burden you."
The witch steps closer to the woman, on guard. "You can tell the nature of a person by merely looking at them?"
Christophe Debroux |
This was getting stranger by the moment. "Err...yes."

"Though I doubt you could answer the how, perhaps you could tell me why someone would want to remove my aura?" Chris asked.
Knowledge (Arcana) to see if Chris knows something helpful about auras: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Gashka |
She kind of shrugs, "Maybe, maybe not. Who's to say? There's still answers that we need to find...but at least we have more information now than we did before...right? So...we'll just...we'll face whatever we have to face and all of us will figure this whole mess out and just...fix it one way or another. It may not happen right away, I'm not promising immediate results...but, eventually....we'll figure all this out and then we'll figure it out...we just have to."
She gets slightly frustrated trying to say what it is she's wanting to say....but, it's just not that easy.
"I believe we met you when we did for a reason...whatever brought you to the place you ended up, good or bad...it was exactly where you needed to be at the time. Piper, Carver, whatever else may lurk in the shadows....we will all figure it out and deal with it as we go. Okay?"
She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, willing herself to relax.
Christophe Debroux |
Chris nods. "But next time, if you find someone you think has answers, let me speak for myself first."
The witch laughs softly. He looks back to the druid. "Anything else we can do for you?"
Gashka |
"We better get back before they send a search party after us. I....you can tell the others what you found out when we get back okay? I'd probably just muck it up anyways." She turns to start the walk back to the ship.

Christophe walks besides Gashka. "Look, I'm sorry about what I said earlier, Gashka. I know you're trying to help and that's more than most people would do for me. I'm quite frightened myself...someone took a piece of my life to add to their own. This...Carver or Piper or whomever it is lives by stealing other people's life force. There is a legend about such a man...it may be something to look into, but I don't know if what I've lost can be gotten back."
He looks out across the town. "Now, I'm not sure if I want that back. I have friends, I have someone I love. I'm still doing what I was called to do. I can keep doing good. We'll tell the others and we'll take care of the things that haunt you. As for me...don't worry about me."
Gashka |
She lets out an exasperated sigh, "Oh for the love of....look, you had every right to say what you said earlier. I wasn't thinking and...and even though nothing really bad happened, it could have. Sometimes I'm so busy trying to save everyone that I give little thought to how I do it, or how it may affect others lives. There has to be a way to get it back, and if there is....we'll find it and we'll make the sonofbiotch that did that to you, to all of us pay."
She stops to take a couple calming breaths, "You aren't alone in being someone that's had something "taken" from them though. We've all lost something to these bastards...the crazy shadow hand, the piper, the carver....I'm not really sure if they're the same person or if we're dealing with two different kinds of evils. I guess that's one of the reasons we have to go to the ruins." She looks around as she speaks a little more softly, sure that there is no one else listening in she says, "I believe the ruins are to the north....and if I recall....there are legion people in that direction as well....though, I'm not sure exactly. There's just been so much going on that it's hard to keep track of everything and make sense of it all."
She kind of lets out another little sigh and just sort of tosses her arms up in an exasperated manner, "I don't know....all I know is that you deserve answers, you deserve to know what was taken from you and why. Even if we can't get it back, you deserve the truth....and you deserve Tehanna too. You both deserve each other....after everything the both of you have been through....it's kinda a miracle really. Don't you think?"
As they near the docks she slows her pace a little mulling over everything in her mind.
"I still think you should be the one to explain things, or maybe try to explain them together. I haven't been so good at....expressing things lately." She gets a far off look in her eye as her gaze finds the Wildcat.
Gashka |
Okay...sorry if I got some of the facts of what I know or don't know mixed up....but really, everything has been so crazy it's hard to remember exactly who knows what. It's even more difficult to try and sort through dozens upon dozens of pages to figure it out. So, I just went with what I thought I remembered her hearing or knowing based on past conversations with various people. I hope that's okay?
Christophe Debroux |
Chris puts a hand on Gashka's shoulder. "There is a greater good we can do, but I am merely an instrument to do that good. I haven't worried about myself a lot in my life, I just worried about giving a better life to others. With Tehanna...I...I don't know. We can do this, come on."
He hurries along toward the ship.
Gashka |
She smirks as she shakes her head. Before he's able to get too far, Gashka catches up to him and grabs a hold of his cloak, stopping him easily in his tracks.
Positioning herself in front of him so that her back is to the ship, she gives him a knowing look while cocking an eyebrow at him, "You listen to me Christophe Debroux, and listen well. I hear what you're saying and that's all well and good, but I see the way you two look at each other. Just because I don't always speak my mind, doesn't mean that I am blind to what's going on. You still have doubts and that's okay, but don't let those doubts get in the way of what you and Tehanna feel for each other because there is nothing wrong with wanting to have a better life yourself. I.....I don't see people and things the way others usually see them....so, you're just gonna have to trust me on this. I may not know everything that's gone on between you and Tehanna, but I can tell that you make each other very happy....and that's a gift Chris, one that few people ever fully receive."
Grabbing him gently by the shoulders she gives him a light shake, "So, don't worry about anything and just let whatever is going to happen, happen. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't have, and if they try....they'll have to deal with me."
Giving him an encouraging smile she takes her hands away from his shoulders, "Now we can get back to the ship. I'm sure they're all eagerly awaiting answers and I have to make sure that Tikkle doesn't go off half cocked again. I love him to peices, but sometimes....well, lets just say that common sense is not always a close companion of his." Turning she starts to walk briskly the rest of the remaining distance to the ship.
Gashka |
I told you Gashka has plans....hehehehe. It's that big heart of hers, blame it if ya like, but she feels how she feels and ain't nothing gonna change her mind....so, good luck with that luv. *evil pixie grin*
