Sorry this is on me, I'm the only one who could really afford to take the minuses to attack non lethal. In future I'll do the non lethal early on because he falls unconcious when they meet or I may look at taking a feat that grants me no minuses so I can just do it the whole fight to the guy we want to take Alive. It was a combination of quick panic cos i of my low HP and not realising that other guy had gone

Nor me to be honest. I wasn't planning on killing iff Seb. He was one of my favourite characters but given his belief system and vow of cleanliness it felt like the only course of action to maintain the integrity of the character. Besides it adds a bit of spice to the storyline and presents all sorts of role play opportunities given some of the group aren't there.

Don't know what I'm gonna do about a replacement. I certainly don't want to leave the story so there's a challenge for the DM.

I know what you mean it's not nice when you put in so much effort in building up a character and losing him


But if it is the exit for Sebastian, what a brilliant way to go. Have to commend him on his roleplaying here, to stick so closely to a character concept that it ultimately ends up being the thing that destroys him. Exactly why I love the game.

I never, as a GM, go out of my why to kill a character. But I definitely believe that the death of a PC can remind everyone that we are essentially writing a collaborative novel here and loss also heightens the drama and works to show us we are fighting for something bigger than ourselves.

This game just gets better and better for me

I gotta agree. There are a lot of people that speak against it on a class that doesn't have a full BAB progression, but... It makes a huge difference as far as damage is concerned.

Or I make my sword agile for the damage bonus. Anyway I haven't started usong judgements yet either. Csn boost both hit and damage with them but limited use. I csn bane my swprd forn15 rounds per day too. Just rolled bad damage dice then.

All, after discussing with J I realised in my haste to get a character ready to use I rushed it and made some mistakes. I have made some changes with J's blessing. Outwardly the main change is he now uses a falchion instead of an elven curved blade. Basically going star focus instead of weapon finesse. Also I didn't completely equip him so I got an belt of physical might which means I can maintain the high dex too and my wisdom score so I didn't have to completely rework his saves, skills and abilities.

Should be much more effective in combat now.

Looks good to me Erek, only thing is you are not proficient with the falchion so you'll need to think about martial weapon proficieny feat in there somewhere if you want to stick with it or else just go longsword as it is the favoured weapon of Iomedae.

Already done it. I swapped exotic weapon prof and weap finesse for martial weapon and power attack.

Jam, under Confusion, do I attack with the weapon in hand, or am I still intelligent enough to not use a ranged weapon if I am being threatened? Because if not, I think the AoOs from Jon and the giant this round when I try to shoot will hurting lovely Caradwe :/

Also, am I entitled a shot against the giant? Due to Snap Shot? Or...?


Firstly, I'm inclined to say you attack with weapon in hand without the benefits of feats. I see it as a wild swing or fumbling shot.

I think also the spell calls out the fact you don't threaten anyone unless you acted normally that round or the person you attacked


There's been a noticeable downturn in posting recently guys. I know we are all busy, it's been pretty crazy for me over recent weeks too, but we've been playing this for nearly two years and it has a good chance of being one of three games that I know of to successfully finish on these boards.

No worries J. Been busy with the new, job but will get back to two posts a day if poss. I have to admit though that this book is so far the dullest so far in my opinion. There does not seem to be a clear goal so we are just wandering around this house looking for the black rider. The whole 'always on the chase' thing is wearing thin but will stick with it. I'm sure it will pick up soon.

Auren Vrood under the instruction of Adivion Adrissant sent two riders out of Feldgrau with a number of items which you believe might be used to resurrect or somehow commune with Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant.

You have the trail of one of the riders who was sent to Illmarsh to exchange the Seasage Effigy for something here with agents unknown. The entire town is secular and suspicious and many of the inhabitants carry a strange 'Illmarsh look' carried over from a genetic disease contracted generations before.

In town you have discovered that the religious worship of Gozreh is in fact a front for a demon-worshipping cult of Dagon. In that temple you found horrific murals of weird sea-creatures called Skum mating with human women.

Knowing that the rider made his way to this house for some reason, presumably the exchange, you are searching it both to find him and to hopefully get one step ahead of the Way for a change and to save the infant taken by the head of the Dagon cult for reasons related to the fact that the 'Neighbours Down Bay' haven't shown up in weeks to accept a fostering - an event which has the town extremely worried.

Trust me, this all comes together in a nice, horrific way. I hear what you're saying about the chase theme - this might give you the opportunity to get out in front of Adivion for once.

There is a mechanic in this book that I have been waiting for excitedly. I mean, it wouldn't be a Cthulu-esque story without sanity playing a part.

You guys have been through a lot, but the horrors of the Dark Tapestry and Great Beyond are another thing entirely.

The things you might encounter from that unknown vastness beyond the stars can have a profound and unfortunate effect upon your mental health.

Each PC has a number of Sanity points equal to her character level, adjusted by her Wisdom modifier. Each time you witness a mind-shattering horror, they must each make a will save. A failed save results in the loss of a variable number of Sanity points until you reach 0, at which point you are driven insane.

Such insanity can only be cured with greater restoration, heal, limited wish, miracle, or wish, or as described under each individual form of insanity’s entry which I will refer to should it come to that.
