Ok Erek, i've added the medallion can't seem to find the bane bandolier even though i know its exists if you could get me a price i'll add it.
Cara that sounds a lot better than the bracers... I still think they have been priced out of the game now but nevermind. If you need the money i'll be happy to lend it to you.

GM-JZ |

Cara, if you are looking to upgrade your items I can't see any way to do that that doesn't involve enchanting at a rate of 1,000gp per day. Even if the crafter had help to increase the DC and accelerate it (which I don't even think you can do for magical items) you would still be looking to spend three days in town.
On the other hand the advantage is not having to roll to see if they have an item in stock like with the Belt of Physical Might:
Below 25% is bad: 1d100 ⇒ 41
This is something I have brought up on the boards a few times for advice but never actually got an answer.

Erek Tulmoon |

Sorry Markus, its a bane baldric. 10k.

Caradwen |

Ok, so that means I have to sell my previous items, and get new ones?
(And I still think 12k gold for Falcon's Bracers is waaaay too steep, even if their current price may be too low)
If so, are the items I pointed out above all available?

Erek Tulmoon |

So I had 13.5k worth of gear more than the loot sheet said. How much of an effect will that have on the loot share?
I'd advise on not making decisions on purchases until you all know how much more cash you've got.

GM-JZ |

Im sorry Cara I have to disagree.
The Bracers give you the keen ability which in itself effectively costs 6k because the weapon would have to be +1 first anyway.
But that would be 6k for a single bow, this gives it to you on EVERY bow you hold AND crossbows (which it also makes x3 instead of x2 critical)
Alternatively you could see it working like the Improved Critical feat which again it essentially gives you twice for bows and crossbows (again with the benefit of x3 on a crossbow)
The +3 perception is worth 1500gp and I have no idea about the permanent +1 competence bonus
All that for 4k is ridiculous in my opinion and not unreasonable for 12k it's just that this campaign is designed to be low wealth so the likelihood of a character having that much spare cash before level 14/15 is slim
In terms of upgrades though, just go for it and spend the difference - I have never found a satisfactory answer to that question

Markus Valon |

Ok the thing that will change is you loose a bit of money Erek, but again if you had anything in mind to buy i'll be happy to lend it. I've moved around the money it will balance out and also we'll get a little more if no one wants any of the loot on the list that will prob go to party to buy stuff, as it won't be a lot.
Is nothing in town on my shopping list?
LOOT! Some people would have jumped in gold by 2-3kish sorting out selling stuff in party we've never used.

Davos Bixby |

Markus, going to buy the +4 int belt 16,000 and sell my +2 belt 2,000
Jz can you roll my new skill for the belt please

Erek Tulmoon |

Markus. Sell that armour and stuff.
I'll get a cloak of resistance +2.
Cloak 1d100 ⇒ 84

Jon Moulton |

Erek you can buy my cloak of resistance +2 for half price, provided there is a cape of free will +2 available in town.
If there are 2 of them it's worth considering getting one.
They are 6000 gold.
Does the Same as a cloak of resistance but they give an extra +1 for will saves

Caradwen |

In terms of upgrades though, just go for it and spend the difference - I have never found a satisfactory answer to that question
Ok Jam, but let me know if you want to do this any other way - if we're staying with the upgrade cost:
My plan is to get:
- An upgrade to my bow (-6k);
- Upgrade to my cloak of resistance (-3k)
- Selling my belt of Dex (+2k), or upgrade to
- Belt of Physical Might (+2str/+2Dex) (-10k)Are these available Jam (may need to borrow some gold :P)?
Unless Jam lets me spend all my money to buy off the Arcane Duelist archetype, and shuffle some of my skills around (maybe some nasty Alchemical concoction?) :D
That is 15k in total - I was still hesitating if I should instead get a belt +2 to Dex/Con... My HP suck sooo hard, but increasing Con gives me only +9 HP :P

Erek Tulmoon |

Right. Taken another look. Selling mind sentinel medallion to buy a +3 cloak of resistance instead.

Caradwen |

Apologies for the absent posting people - I am travelling since very early Monday, and thought I would have time to post. I was wrong.
I am resuming posting today, and will be travelling back home tomorrow, so should be catching up in the evening, unless I crash from exhaustion :P

Erek Tulmoon |

Hooray for book 5. Let's keep going guys. I personally felt book 4 slowed the pace a bit. It was interesting and dramatic in parts but just seemed like an unnecessary distraction. As a stand alone it would have been great but in the context of the story arc I don't think it fitted very well. I'm not ranting. I did enjoy it but let's get back on the trail of Adivion and the Way, kick arse through this next book and storm through to the final chapter.

GM-JZ |

I agree that book 4 is a little bit out of kilter. I tried tying it all in by showing there were other threats out there than the Way and Adivion helping in the background. This speaks a lot to his motivation which will be further explored in the final two books and my attempts to make him an interesting multi-layered villain.
Also, I'm aware my pace has dropped but I think im over that speed bump and back into it so we will power on

Caradwen |

People, just wanted to let you all know I will be away for the whole next week on family vacations.
Keep it up! And bot me as needed.

Morbar Dwinhak |

Sorry guys but I'm a little lost with where we are with the story? What are out goals atm and why? I know I should know but things have been a bit crazy lately and my posting hasn't been the best so I'm a bit confused to where we are at and what we are doing other than this murder case unfolding in front of us now

The Journey So Far
The Haunting of Harrowstone
The group came together to mourn the loss of Petros Lorrimor and to help his daughter Kendra. You learnt the prison was haunted and that an agency named the Whispering Way were involved in stealing the Warden's spirit which in turn caused the restless dead in the prison.
The Trial of the Beast
Helping Kendra move to Lepistadt and delivering the books in Petros' possession back to their owner Judge Darramid, you learnt of a high-profile trial of a monster you later named Hugo.
Two members of the Order of the Palatine Eye - Judge Darramid and Adivion Adrissant - tasked you with investigating the case and you ultimately found the Beast to be innocent.
However, the Beast originated from Schloss Caromac and it became clear that the Whispering Way also had an interest in both an item they manipulated the Beast into stealing and in the case of one of the Lieutenants of the Way, the creation of the Beast itself.
At the end of this book you learnt that Adivion Adrissant had been killed and Kendra Lorrimor kidnapped. You received a finger of hers along with a letter from an unknown agent who both taunted and wanted you to stop interfering, although clearly respectful of your talents.
Broken Moon
The trial of the Whispering Way led to a hunting Lodge deep in werewolf-infested wood. Here, you learnt that the Whispering Way had manipulated a civil war between the tribes in exchange for a piece of the packlord's heart and the spirits of a long-dead village.
This was the first opportunity for you to actively engage the Way and you finally fought the Lieutenant - Auren Vrood. Despite a pitched battle in which both Cara and Davos were killed, you were victorious.
You learned from one of the spirits the startling revelation that Vrood was not in charge of the operation but rather was merely working for Adivion Adrissant. Correspondence found on Vrood indicated an exchange of the item stolen by the Beast in exchange for something called the Raven's Head was to take place in Illmarsh.
Wake of the Watcher
Now knowing that Adivion is alive and the source of your troubles you set off for Illmarsh to intercept the exchange and find out the Whispering Way's end game.
Not all was well in Illmarsh and you learnt that an unknown agency from beyond the stars had been attracted to the town, bringing with them a horror never before known to the world.
Adivion implored you to set aside your differences in time to stop the threat from between the stars lest the entire world be lost. You suffered the devastating loss of Sebastian to the one of these alien creatures and met another man on the hunt for the Way - Erek.
Having foiled the alien plot you finally have got a step ahead of the Way and taken the Raven's Head - a key ingredient for whatever it is that Adivion is doing - who insists he is himself simply manipulating the Way.
Once again correspondence on the Rider pointed you in the direction of Caliphas where the Raven's Head was to be delivered.
Ashes at Dawn
You have just arrived at the city of Caliphas with the hope of finally discovering Adivion's end game and rescuing Kendra (if she still lives). In an unknown city, your best hope is contacting the Order of the Palatine Eye - especially since Judge Darramid was on her way here with Adivion's body when she disappeared.

Hoping everyone is having a great holiday season!! It has been crazy on my end, so posting is sparse, and probably will continue so until next week :P

Erek Tulmoon |

Had a great Christmas, thanks. Hope you did too. I'm back in work now. :-(

Caradwen |

Happy New Year everyone!!

Morbar Dwinhak |

This captain guy looks like walder frey in the TV show, so I instantly distrust him and think he's clearly the most evil person in this city

Caradwen |

Hi people. Just to let you know work has thrown a curve ball straight at my face... I'm at the airport right now, and will be travelling until Sunday next week.
I should have internet access, but am anticipating a veeeeeeery busy week. I'll try to stay up to date, but if not just bot me as needed.

Erek Tulmoon |

Enjoy J. Cara, I hope it isn't too stressful.
Everyone else: lets get to 10k posts before our esteemed GM goes on holiday.

Davos Bixby |

Markus any chance for an updated spreadsheet of current wealth with items sold etc please :)

Markus Valon |

Loot List Here you go.

Erek Tulmoon |

Levelled up.
Some hp and skills
Base attack increase
Extra lvl 4 spell
Stalwart class ability (which is very cool. Kind of like the rogue evasion ability but for fort and will saves instead).

Erek Tulmoon |

Yeah. So what you need is a level 12 inquisitor. Multi classed with barbarian so you can have: rage and greater bane plus improved evasion and stalwart. Double hard!
Hoe was the skiing J?

Jon Moulton |

Level up
Feat - divine interference
Spells
Protection from energy
Forceful strike
Disrupting weapon
Revelation - telepathy
Did we rest overnight? Or did we just open the statue?

Jon Moulton |

It's a very cool feat. Hopefully it will make a difference during tough fights.
I'm still not sure about taking disrupting weapon,
I suspect it will be very handy against the hoards of undead
....but cleanse is a really useful spell. The only question I have is how can I cast the spell if I was nauseated for example?

Caradwen |

Busy weekend. I'll update Caradwen tonight.

Erek Tulmoon |

Damn. Forgot my lvl 11 feat. Will update that later.
