Undead/shadow plane city, not sure how many of the more powerful undead and shadow creatures there will be, but it will be very akin to Geb from Golarion.

If full vampires, liches, and such are not allowed as NPCs in my city, I will likely have other Dhampir and some similar races in places of power.

Old Smoky Bill:

This is the drake I built as Rego's. He was trained as a mount and for battle so his feats and skills reflect that. Besides that everything else is pretty normal for his drake kind. Which I am making a small entry below about. ;P

P.S. This is him gearless, he will need at least a saddle and ideally some barding.

Laten Drakes more commonly known as mage drakes did not appear until the madman Rego Cantio built his city of magic. Some say they come from the realm of Nethys himself while others speak of horrible experiments thought of by Rego to create suitable mounts for his armies. Regardless of the truth, which none in the know comment on. The mage drakes are without doubt blessed with arcane power and more intelligence then seen in any other of their kind. The fact that none appear outside of Rego's lands, without a member of their forces upon its back that is, only proves that they have a direct connection to them.

Here is what I got on Rego's city so far.

Zhakin:

Zhakin is a city of magic. In fact those without magic are warned away, for those that do not listen only slavery and experimentation await. Only those with magic are welcomed or tolerated, from child to begger everyone in Zhakin knows at least a single spell. Those without any magic are seen as lesser creatures little different then the beast served up for supper. Those without magic have no rights in Zhakin and even children who are born with in her lands have an age limit to show some form of magic or be exiled on pain of death. All forms of advancement and status are based purely on magic ability except for a few choice areas of the hierarchy, as Nethys prizes knowledge as well and not foolishness.

As a result of their system, Zhakin is home to a number of diverse beings. All with magical abilities both natural or obtained.

Hello thar.

I just had a campaign fall apart that I was playing in and I would like to hop over to this one if recruitment isn't closed. While I normally shy away from Gestalt, executive level kingdom running sounds WAY to cool to not at least TRY to get in on.

Okki is the character I would like to play. He is a Goblin Ninja (pajama fighter) who is extremely sneaky, clever, and very very fat. After watching some humans dispatch a tribe of trolls, he ate the nose of the troll shaman, which has even since been trying to regenerate in his body. (Add gestalt sorcerer - Gestalt Question, do prestige classes only stop 1 class advancement or both?)

His Kingdom would be mostly goblins, orcs, ogres, and other monstrous humanoids (and a elite force of pajama fighter trolls for sabotage and assassinations.)

His kindgoms military would be as modern as the setting would allow. Goblin Engineers with cannon blimps, Orc Sappers frothing with rage and carrying explosive barrels, Ogres carrying mini-cannons and thumpy things.

If this is okay, please tell me I can join and I will submit a full char sheet and kingdom writeup asap.

Thanks!

Okki! <33

Also fixed the horrific textwalls in Leiara's fluff. Sorry. >.>;

@Okki: Prestige classes stop 1 only, the other class advances as normal. The only exception is you may not be leveling 2 prestige classes on the same level.

@Omnichaos: That looks alright, though I think we'll make it a little weaker than an animal companion (since you are effectively getting it for free). Not sure what CR it would end up as but I think it should continue to be one HD behind a druid animal companion of the same level so in this case 6HD instead of 8.

Oki I'll be gone till Wednesday, continue to post questions if you have any left. I'll answer them when I get back.

Updated Aurelie with background (be warned it's very long). I liked the method you used, Leiara, so I stole it for this :)

I can't claim credit for that, I stole it from Twil. :D

Picked my magic items
Pectoral, Prophet's 6,000 gp
Shackles of Compliance 3,280
Aegis of recovery 1,500

+1 Guardian Adamantine quarterstaff
+1 Deathless Angelskin(1000gp) Silken Ceremonial armor
1,000 gp worth of unworked Adamantine (would like to use it to make the Shackles of Compliance stronger)

Also I just have to say be because it is really cool using Mystic past life I got tree Stride onto my spell list as a an oracle I can cast it 3 times per day. I mentioned before how I have an academy of the best and the brightest. Well sometimes I use tree stride to run over to a kingdom a long bit away and I wonder around with detect thoughts or seek thoughts mostly to spy However we I come across a kind with 18 int or more I just can't help myself. (I have those Shackles of Compliance for a reason).

Lexi! <3<3

Hey DM,

I have completed all of Okki's physical/skills/feats/ and so on, along with a quick idea of the type of RP he can bring to your game. I'll do items soon, and flesh out my Cohort and add some info on my Kingdom.

Do I need to keep my leadership Followers/Cohort separate from the Kingdom? I just sort of assumed Leadership is okay because like.. we own a country and stuff. And two, it wasnt excluded from the house rules and you kinda just plopped a Drake in one guys lap. =) I figured burning a trait and a feat would be okay!

Here's my picture for Leiara. :D

Ebil!

Yes, I know, its a wow character, but she just looks so evil. Haha.

Do you want me to build me cohort or do you want to make it yourself? Some DM's like to make it clear that they are NPC's. I would an Igor type cohort well versed in science and alchemy to aid me in my experiments.

Smoke Bill,

Curious how you want to do spell books. Since we effectively have infinite gold can I simply have purchased all the spells I want? Also, the books are normally enchanted, but I have never seen it come into play. Can I just fluff it and say it has a few minor enchants or does it need to be one of my items?

All of Okki's items have been added to his character sheet.

Also, Bill, I may be confused. Were we all granted cohorts for free? I seem to recall reading we got a sort of crack squad for our armies but I cant recall where.

Anyways, next I'll be updating my cohort from leadership and my followers. (Easy, all ninjas.)

Then I'll update my Kingdom last. ^_^

I personally want to get my Ca-king score up. I want to find the codex of infinite planes.

You it's legendary: 6d6
or
Does that even exist?: 7d6

I want to find it with the roll. I'm guessing that getting might be a quest in itself.

Sadly I'm going to withdraw my entry from this wonderful game. I'm getting super busy, and so between the games I'm currently in I think I'm filling up my RP potential. I'll still be keenly reading along.

I am going to have to bow out. I wish everyone the best of luck and great fun. Enjoy. ;)

@Lucelia and Omnichaos: That's all right, have fun gaming wherever ^^

@Okki and fictionfan: Burning a feat on Leadership is fine, though I will warn you it'll be rather pointless as everyone effectively has that feat since you control cities. The only real difference is you get to build that cohort/follower instead of me, it will still be an NPC for all intents and purposes though.

@Tiny Coffee Golem: You'll get only scrolls equivalent to scrolls you could purchase with the consumables at level 8. Yes I know that isn't a lot but you will get more (with looting and pillaging) shortly after the game starts. The book can be enchanted if you wish.

Right so there were no more new applicants while I was away. Thus the final list will be the following. I will make a decision by sometime tomorrow afternoon GMT.

Crunch and concept:
Little Aurelie and Big Pappy (summoner/cleric) - Loup Blanc (complete)
Combat Butler (fighter/rogue) - Ptolmaeus Arvenus (complete)
Cora Montajay (Sorcerer/Oracle) - Campincarl (complete)
Hell lawyer (wizard/cleric) - Tiny coffee golem (complete)
Min (Lore Oracle/wizard) - fiction fan (complete)
Shard (Druid/Ninja) - Rocan (complete)
Leiara (Druid/Ranger) - lexibean (complete)

Others who have base concepts:
Malkavian (Sorc/psion) - Monkeygod (complete)
Gnome Joker (Necro/cleric) - The silver prince (complete, name possibly?)
Nini Michaels (Sorcerer/Oracle) - metid (complete)
Zombie undead orphan city keeper - Hanzou (complete)
K.Boom (Alchemist Kobold) - edward sobel (Needs to check in)
Iresh (summoner/Sorceror) - twilsemail (complete)

Interested, yet to finalise a concept (if any of these submit before I the end of tonight I will consider them):
Tie my shoelace
Thickfreakness (contract lawyer?)
leinathan

Reposting this since it got might have not been seen:

I'm guessing no actual vampires, liches, etc are allowed, correct?

Still not 100% on Psion. Might go Oracle, or possibly Bard.

Glad to see you're back Bill!

Ok. Ill work on the wizard and gear crunch soon. Welcome back.

May be I should mention that as an Oracle I have the Legalistic curse. Sort of interesting that hell's Lawyer might also be on the team. I plan on being a knowledge broker so all I have to say at the beginning of a session is "I swear that durring this session I will speck no word that is not truth. Provided you pay in advance".

I think i'll skip the leaderskip on second thought I'll use that feat to get another ka-ching. Could we have some ka-ching that's an advanced In the know that uses In the know as a preq.
Idea

I've got eyes everywhere:

Whenever you are part of a knowledge based ka-ching check you may re-roll as may dice in the ka-ching check as your personal ka-ching score.

I just want to be that super villain that knows everything and has plans within plans. The type of villain that heros sometimes even team up with or ask for help because he's so honorable and useful. Pragmatic villainy.

@Monkeygod: Actually vampires, liches and all that are fine. I think I mentioned before (possibly in the last thread), basically be a Dhampir for the sake of stats/build/rules whatnot but you can be an actual vampire. Same with your cityfolk. (I just don't want to bother making up a vampire template/PC race)

@Min: I think there are enough Ka-ching stuff for now. You will be getting more things related to Ka-ching over the course of the campaign. (e.g. A spy network or infamous titles etc.) That'll come through roleplay and some Ka-ching in the right place.

A magic lex Luthor.

Ya I guess it means more if you earn it yourself. I have many ideas for schemes for expanding my spy network. Also as a lore Orale I took Automatic Writing (Su). That's not a bad way to get a lot of information. Also Focused Trance will give me ludicrous knowledge checks.

Hey Boss! Boss!

You forgot about Okki!

Heh, anyways. Okki has a full character sheet. I'll drop leadership for a different feat as I wasn't entirely sure. I will keep the trait though, assuming traits are allowed. If you want, I can build the cohort or let you do it if you prefer. (I know some DM's ask players what role they want their cohorts to fill as opposed to letting the players build them. In my case I would very much like my cohort to be a Troll Ninja/Spy, so to speak.)

Also, here's the city. Warning. WALL OF TEXT.

The Kingdom of Gobstock:

As you sit in your most comfortable chair in your most comfortable room, a curious scratching garners your attention. As you listen, the scratching gets closer and closer, becoming more of a patter and less of a scratch all the while.

A small brown rodent stands before you. He bows, then reaches into a small brown bag of tricks. He tosses out a ball of fluff, which loudly *poofs*. When the smoke clears, you are looking into a 4 sided scrying device with 1080p resolution and 957 channels. The rodent points a black wand at the device, then scampers up onto your shoulder.

The Kingdom of Gobstock, as presented by Oggie, Gentleman Ogre.

The film quality is both grainy and spotty. A camera pans back to an ogre wearing a black suit and top hat. His voice is both deep and brutish. He often gestures with a long cane as he speaks.

"Oh. Hello there! His speech is impeccable. He paused to adjust his monocle, then continues. My name is Oggie the Ogre... and YOU would like to know a little about Gobstock would you? Delightful!"

The camera-gob walks with Oggie, keeping the camera trained on his face.

"Here at Gobstock we try our best to provide a modern utopia. While it's true most of our residents are what you might call.. ::he lifts two fingers on each hand, wiggling them as he pronounces his syllables:: Mon-strous Hu-man-oids... our fine Kingdom is open to all and any who might seek out a better life! A tomorrow that strives to break away from the toils of today!"

The camera pans away from Oggi for a second. Two humans men are pulling a palanquin filled with Goblins..there is a dull thud and then the camera drops. Oggi's face fills the screen as he lifts up the goblin and warns him to keep the camera trained on him. He puts the fellow on his feet and dusts him off, even taking time to examine a growing lump on the goblins head.

"Yessir, all are welcome here. Whats that? Afraid of leaving behind your favorite horse or family pet? Not in this Goblin Town! Everyone is welcome!"

The camera-gob begins to pan over to a amusement ride called "Stairway to the Plane of Positive Energy." This ride seems to be a long single rail that climbs over a mountain ridge. An ore cart with a horse and two dogs makes a slow steady climb to the top as goblin and ogre children squeal with glee. After a loud "a-hem!" the camera quickly shifts back to Oggi.

"Now Oggie, you may ask. With such a fine elegant city filled with such educated humanoids, doesn't everyone want in? " Oggi pauses as the children shout with joy, their voices drowned only by the winny of a fightened horse and the quickly fading howl of dogs. Oggi grins a toothily as he stops to savor the sound. He winks, then continues."How do we keep out the uncouth and uncivilised? Easy! Gobstock maintains a proud army of fighting gobs, ogres, trolls, and any other creature who feels the call of patriotism and duty! Why look there! We seem to have caught a parade! What luck!"

The camera reveals a gaggle of soldiers in a loose formation. Several goblins look unsure as the camera focuses on them. A few pokes and prods from the larger ogres settles them down and they begin their march.

"Boy it is a swell day today. I am glad we all decided to march volun..tarryry in dis nice sunlight. Me no want to eat yummy anything because of how much I like this day.", he says sadly.

Looking forlorn, the goblin troops all line up and form several ranks. A corps of Ogres take their turn before the camera. They seem to be carrying small cannons under their arms. They line up, aim, and make "boom" noises as they pretend to fire into the sky. The camera-gob watches them warily before shifting back to Oggi.

"Oh look! The ornithopter wing!"

Several clumsy flapping machines begins to circle overhead in the sky. These crude flying machines seem practically covered in goblin bombs and missiles. The dart about erratically, narrowly avoiding mid-air collisions. Behind the camera, the sudden report of cannon fire flattens the camera-gob. The unmanned lens captures a large black orb ascend into the sky. A goblin yells in excitement as he streaks towards earth covered in flames. Somewhere, an Ogre mumbles. "Oops."

Oggi chuckles, then picks up the camera and points it at his face.

"Well, that concludes our tour. On behalf of the benevolent overlord Okki, the city of Goblin Town, and the Kingdom of Gobstock, I offer you an invitation to join us in our domination of .. our .. peaceful assimilation of surrounding lands and countries as we add even more unwilling peoples into our fun loving utopia! Yea!"

On the final note, the Ogre leaps into the air, pumping his fist high. The film stops, capturing his exultant pose for several moments before the rodent on your shoulder hops down and recalls the TV..I mean... scrying device.. back into it's bag and scurries away. He stops and looks back at you, cute as a cute rodent can be. He reaches into his little bag one more time and *poofs* another tiny ball of fluff onto the floor. This time? A map. A map to the Kingdom of Gobstock!

I kindve picture Goblin Town as a weird mix of fantasy and that little town outside of Hogwartz. They have weird mage/steam tech and a large monster population, but are generally a neutral slanted flavor of evil.

How would you feel if, instead of Dhampir, I took levels in the Vampire Spawn class from Libris Mortis as part of my Gestalt?

Thinking Sorcerer 8/Oracle 5/Vampire Spawn 3.

My reasoning is, its kind of hard to add in creating spawn onto a Dhampir based on the mechanics involved. They don't have Blood or Energy Drain, nor a natural bite or slam attack. A Spawn gets both Blood Drain and Energy Drain though the Spawn class doesn't get the Energy Drain till 8th level, plus the methods with which to deliver them

Also, I figure there's no need to gain BaB, save bonuses, HP, etc from it, as that's a little too strong. Unless you say otherwise of course.

Anyways, if you agree, I can post the mechanics for ya.

Again, just a thought.

Where Lex Luthor was science I am magic. I wonder if one of the heros will be a superman expy. Some max and min paladin who dumped Int and is very over leveled for the campaign world. Whose only weakness is his boy scout honor and his tho shall not kill code.

So its the 28th and you havnt closed application yet (I think).

Ive tried to get into a few Way of the Wicked campaigns without success and this looks equally as, if not more fun. My character that I wanted to play even is a little toony so it fits perfectly.

Im thinking of playing a Catfolk Barbarian / Antipaladin. Visually, his style of catfolk look will be that of a lion, something which has not been heard of before or since his birth (atleast not to his knowledge) His tribe saw this as an auspicious sign of a great destiny and great power, and so he was groomed to become their leader. Growing up with everyone around him telling him how important and special he was, it can be no surprise that he turned out a rotten apple, a selfcentered narcissist of epic proportions. However for all his failings as a person, he had a quality about him, an inate animal charisma that made the masses adore him. As he matured and took on his mantle of leader, the next generation of catfolk children grew up to become fanatically loyal, idolizing him to the point of zealotry.

Under his rule, his tribe steadily grew, his aggressive nature soon bringing all the other tribes under his rule (or under the dirt for those who stood against him). When neighbouring human kingdoms took notice, his warbands raiding their borders, emissaries were sent with gifts and suggestions of peaceful co-existence.

But their gifts would be their undoing.

Spending hours each day, preening over his own amazing looks, he had always endeavoured to look as imposing and beatiful as was possible, wearing the most extravagant armor and jewelry his tribe could muster, having servants dedicated solely to keeping his mane in pristine condition. But for all their skill, the catfolk clothing, art and jewelry were as nothing compared to the gifts lavished upon him by the fearful humans.

A few years later, he and his people had left the plains behind, taking up residence within the humans kingdom, taking its homes for their own and its people as slaves.

Well that was a handful. Ok so the capitol city (and surrounding kingdom) was once human. The Catfolk people are very Spartan in their outlook, but owing to their lord, all take great pride in their looks, it being equally important for a warrior to look fabulous and be skilled with a blade, although far from to the degree of their lord, more like the military fashion of the 16th century. Like these guys:

http://world4.eu/german-lansquenet-costumes-first-third-of-the-16th-century /

Ok so apparently the link is being really annoying...the picture im refering is the second to last one if you scroll down.

The human enslaved population handle all the crafting of the clothes and jewelry, as well as maintaining the buildings as working the field etc etc...basically the Catfolk rules do nothing but attend great parties, have children and make war. The slaves are treated harshly if they fail or anger their masters, but treated somewhat fairly and even rewarded for a job well done (usually in the making of an especially gaudy peice of accessory or clothing). The capitol houses all the noble families, which the ruler created when he found out the humans had such things, finding the idea of it rather amusing...Naturally he has blood relations with all of them, the leaders of said families all being his children. It is a cesspool of hedonistic excess. The city is named "Monument", both because it is a monument to his achivement, but also because the citys skyline is littered with statues of his likeness, all of them magnificently sculpted in bronze, copper, stone and even gold. Viewed from the foothills of the nearby mountains, the city almost looks like a chessboard, occupied by nothing but King peices.

His personality is best described by Gaston:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK3x2DOoJIc

His "Court Wizard" or "Head Counciler" is devoted like Lefou in the above clip, but his personality is more akin to Abis Mals advisor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT56vTGzGK4

Cut to 8:35 to see what I mean...incidentally, Abis Mal himself is also a good description of my characters personality (although hes not quite as dumb)

Ok sorry for the long read, that all Ive thought up...for now.

Ok so I somehow managed to miss your second to last post...

Ill just leave my post anyway, see what happens.

Just to be a nerd, Superman is actually pretty damn intelligent, again, due to genes. Why he acts like a total buffoon when fighting people is beyond me. To give them a fighting chance?

@Anthony: I'll put the character in for consideration.

@Okki: Sorry missed writing you down in that list when I updated but in my notes you are there :)

@Monkeygod: I'd like to leave 3.5 far away from this, you can have some abilities without the need of the mechanics unless you really want to use them mid-combat? Then we'll sort something out for that, we can refluff spells or abilities (such as righteous might being a vampire released form or something as an example).

At work at the moment so final decision will be done when I get back and have a moment to contemplate.

sounds good DM. gl all!

Nerd Rant

Superman:
This in a nutshell is why superman never interested me. As written, he can't lose. Just fly into space, hang out at the sun for awhile, then come back down. If your losing (somehow) just fly around the earth and turn back time over and over until you can find something that works.

Oh! And thanks boss!

I imagine superman becomes much more interesting when he's the enemy. Because then it's us who have to defeat him and we have to be very smart about it.

Superman:
Well yes in a strait up even fight Superman is stupid op. However, most of his situations were 'choices', such as Lex Luthor sending nukes to TWO seperate locations.

Also, doomsday beat the crap out of him lol

If its in a spoiler it doesnt count as thread derail?...also Superman!:
I agree on Superman as a bad guy being more fun. Doomsday afaik is a Cyborg with cryptonian DNA, specifically made to kill / counter Superman...One should hope he beats the crap outa him :D

OP superman is Golden Age Superman. The newer toned down Superman is more like the DC equivalent of a superhero Bard. He can do almost anything the others can but the others do it better (Yay for Flash being relevant again!!)

Fun fact, alot of info seems to indicate Superman actually will be a villain in the upcoming Injustice fighting game.

Derail? Do you even train?:
Flash still relevant. Remember the time he ran around the planet so quickly he broke the 3rd dimension?

Shadow Lodge

Well, I really hope I get into this, but I look forward to watching it regardless! There are some really excellent character concepts here that I'd love to see played out.

Do you even lift bro?:
Speedforce! Awh yeah! Pretty nifty way to beat Brainiac Luthor. Hitting him around 3 times pr second when it was fastest, he was going somewhere in the neighbourhood of 120000 Kilometers pr second, 2/5ths the speed of light!! When you factor wind resistance (quite substantial on a human body) the force he was pushing himself forward with would likely be enough to hit the speed of light if he was in a vaccum...I like to think he "broke the light barrier" :P

I was thinking the same thing metid.

I love exercise I could watch people doing it all day:

Superman would still be the good guy remember we are the bad guys in this game. How would a bunch of lv 8 charators go about beating superman? I'm guess he would be a high lv paladin with saving throw's, AC and hp though the roof. Maybe draw him into an erupting volcano. Tell me someone in this group has a secret volcano lair. Maybe with some good detective work I can find if he has a lois lane to kid nap she always made a good bait.

Shadow Lodge

Exercise tires me:
Just take care of him the same way you kill a tarrasque, throw him into a water plane and let him drown. Maybe bind him up, too, or something. Alternatively, throw him in a pool with UNDEAD SHARK DRUIDS

not if you arn't the one doing it:

That only works for the Tarrasque because it's will save is so bad so you can plan shift it also Superman is just "slightly" smarter then the Tarrasque so more complicated traps are needed.

Children Please:

Superman would go down rather quickly vs a well made mid level party in a fantasy game as he is weak vs magic

I would say magic probably does max damage, then doubled and would definitely bypass any defenses he has.

Not sure how damage from magic weapons would affect him, but they would also penetrate his defenses. I could see them doing extra damage too.

We have underlings for a reason:
Shiny green rocks seem to do the trick

Character related post:

Sorcerer/Oracle for sure. Probably the Undead Bloodline and the Ancestor Mystery.

His ancestors talk to him contanstly, making him quite crazy.

Spellwise, he'll have some undead creation spells, but also a lot of illusion and mind affecting spells, particularly ones that damage or mess with your mind.

I'm shocked shocked I say:

That always was the problem with Superman he's OP or he's useless. Still green rock might be very rare. Not sure if it would make much sense for magic to work against him so well in pathfinder world what with it being so common.

what's that saying about assumption?:

That's assuming Kryptonite exists in a given game world. Which is pretty much up to the GM. I'd much rather rely on magic, thanks.
