Old Smoky:

I'm not sure what exactly happened in this scene, did the creature somehow use a mind affecting effect on me, despite my being immune? or did it override the immunity?

Also, what happened at the end there, was I adversely effected or will I be, shortly?

Male Dragonborn Undying Mayor

Vaklam:

It isn't mind effecting so your immunity is not coming into question there. The effect hasn't done anything yet it takes a few turns to kick in so you are safe for the moment. The effect you are being affected by is an ability called Dronesong, it functions similar to 'halt undead'

The Shard

Korina the weapon and stifles a chuckles as the goblin's head is ripped off. Korina and Shard run towards the beholder cart and the two hobgoblins are yelling in bad common to get the goblins to turn the cart around. Though as you could guess they barely have enough time, for some reason the beholder isn't getting up and turning around himself, you haven't seen him so much as float. Without the beholder facing the pair of them there is no way they are able to stand to The shard and Korina.

I don't see the need for you to roll to kill a bunch of guys that don't stand a chance at this point, would you like to kill them all or question some of them? Threaten them? Or move on after dispatching them? There is a room at the end of this corridor where the group came from.

Ratfolk Druid 8/ Ninja 7/ Monk (Master of Many Styles) 1

I would question them if I could, but I'm out of uses of my Wildshape ability, so I need to make the most of this one.

The Shard and Korina will kill all the goblins except one which The Shard tries to get across to Korina to question him.

This is where Feral Speech would have come in handy, perhaps an Int or SM check for her to understand my intention?

The Shard will look at the Beholder in the cart, trying to determine why it is in such a sorry state, before leaving with Korina to the other end of the corridor to investigate where the hobgoblins came from.

Captain Fremont would turn his eyes to Lucelle as he contemplates what he has seen so far. Did he feel this man was telling the truth? Did she?

Captain Fremont's Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Rusty's Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

"Dear boy, there are those here that would say you are lying." Then, with a wave towards the crystal that Lucelle had thrown on the table upon entering the room, he would continue on to say, "And the evidence is stacked against you. Where did this gem come from? Why was it found among your possessions? Do you have any way of proving your innocence?"

"It is possible that his memory has been erased. It is a common trick with spys to cast False Alibi or other similar spells on them to make them forget when discovered. It is an effective way to stop them from giving away any secrets"

Captain Fremont would turn his head to Min as he explains a possible explanation for his crewman's inability to answer his questions.

"Do you have access to these spells?"

Male Samsarans dual cursed oracle/Wizard(for-sight) 5/ arcane savant 3

"I could get them. Right now I could erase all of someones memory if I was touching them. I couldn't set it on a trigger."

"Do said spells leave any type of trace behind?" he would ask inquisitively.

male Humen lv 4 Computer scientist

"Some would, but those aren't very useful because it sort of gives the game away and then they can be dispelled. Well I guess my amnesia would be very difficult to dispel, but still."

The Shard

The shard investigates the body of the Beholder and finds that there are several spikes driven through the bottom of its body holding it down so it is unable to hover. All of its eye stalks have also been cut off and the wounds have been sealed. There is a lever with some form of prodding device near it. Pulling the lever brings the prodding device near the beholder, you have a feeling this acts as reins of some kind. Commanding the beholder to do something. The beholder unless you decide to kill him. Is still breathing and groaning from pain, he is unable to turn in his current position but you see his one remaining eye is trying to turn to look at you.

Korina questions the hobgoblin a bit, what she gleans is the following.

  • The goblins/hobgoblins attacked the tribe through tunnels. The room at the end leads deeper into the mountain.
  • Their 'head flame' was worried about the Youkai Lord and was trying to stop him growing in power.
  • The goblins believed that the Youkai Lord power is correlated with the amount of followers they have. Which is why they were hunting down the Kitsune.

    Council Chamber

The cabin boy is at a loss of what to do seeing the two overlords converse. Though the fact that he has no idea what is going on does support Min's theory. Old smoky also says "I have heard that people who do use the magics found in these crystals that the boy had do affect the mind. Or at least are able to. Perhaps we should launch a further investigation into who the cabin boy had contact with?"

    Vaklam

You are still facing down this glass monstrousity, what would you like to do. Like I said we'll try to be a bit more cinematic in things like this. So try something out and I will tell you what happens because of it then cause a rebuttal with the creature and you narrate what happens because of it. And so on.

The Shard looks on in pity at the Beholder, he can't decide if he should try to take care of it or put it out of his misery.

He moves in front of the Beholder so it can look into his dark eyes.
He stares deeply into its one eye with a grim determination before he turns and leaves. Not able to do anything in his current form.

He nudges Korina along after they killed the few goblins she had questioned.

Hmm.. Youkai Lord that sounds good. I wonder though why they thought I would ally with the Kitsune before I even approached them. Perhaps there is another Youkai Lord they refer to.

The Shard and Korina make their way back to the other side from where the goblins came, all the while The Shard sniffs the air and looks around for any signs of more goblins approaching.

    Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21

Captain Fremont would offer his companions a smile. "I was thinking we might be able to use their own game against them. If we can manage to wrap this up quickly before our enemy attempts to make contact, perhaps we can wipe my crewman's memory of this incident and watch over him in hopes of catching this enemy in the act of contacting him. Such a plot, might just allow us to glean some information about our enemy and their motives."

    Male Dragonborn Undying Mayor

@Shard: Hmm I don't know which way you mean but I shall post both in spoilers. Pick whichever!

Down into the tunnels where the goblins came:

There is a short tunnel then an opening into a larger cavern. The cavern has a multitude of entrances on many different levels making up a network of tunnels. The shard can tell they are getting deeper into the mountainside. More importantly he can smell goblin and a lot of them, though they aren't nearby. They are likely down some of the tunnels but the Shard can hear the sounds of many denizens down these ways, perhaps more than just goblins. It might take some time to explore this place. Out of the blue the Shard hears the flutter of a solitary bat, there seems to be no flock with it. The bat also is magical in nature or at least has had magic thrust upon it.

    Back outside:

The shard returns to the outside world where he sees Celty and her group trying to rebuild the bridge with the help of the Dragonborn. Though on the wind the Shard can hear a whisper ever so faint. It sounds like a summons, but where to he can't make out. The feeling that washes over him however is a feeling of tranquility and belonging. The air comes to a stand still and Korina fidgets about a little concerned by the silence. The area across the bridge now holds no enemies and the village is safe, at least for now. The temple is the last vestige of the village that The Shard has yet to explore.

    Council room

Old smoky nods "Perhaps my lord, that might be an idea. How and where would we set such bait however? His memory might be wiped but we have no idea how they made contact with him in the first place? At least something to consider?"

Ratfolk Druid 8/ Ninja 7/ Monk (Master of Many Styles) 1

I meant the way down into the tunnels.

The Shard thinks over the possibility to fight the large amount of goblins he thinks might be down the tunnels.
Hmm... perhaps it is better to lay low for today, come back tomorrow.

Then he sees the lone bat fluttering about. He focuses his attention on the movements of the little critter, intrigued by the sudden appearance.

Bats usually travel in flocks, I wonder what this one is doing all alone here.
    Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

Nodding to Min, Captain Fremont would respond calmly, "Our comrade here told us they are making contact with him through that gem there. We wipe his memory and put him back on the boat with that gem and watch him. They will come to us. Depending on what we glean from the situation, we can choose to continue to watch or take action."

Vaklam once more summons his spiritual aids, the weapon and ally, while his sister attacks the glass being with all her might. The trio lay into the construct, while Vaklam casts his damaging spells.

    The Shard

At closer look the bat is doing some very strange things. For one its flight path is very straight as opposed to bouncy like most bats. Furthermore there is a very small red trail from the bat's flightpath. For the moment it is flying between each opening then flying away to look at another.

    Vaklam

Shards of glass splinter away from the creature as the trio smash into the constructs' body. The creature seems somewhat disrupted and more concerned with its attackers than Vaklam. It doesn't notice what he is doing or doesn't seem to care. It turns its attention to Malakai, a droning song can be heard along the winds. One that makes Vaklam feel uncomfortable. It is making him question who is friend or foe but not enough to sway him. However Malakai seems to have lost her marbles as she is attempting to grab the phantom weapon out of the air to stop it attacking the construct.

Ratfolk Druid 8/ Ninja 7/ Monk (Master of Many Styles) 1

The Shard not trusting the bat completely before he can see it with his own eyes tries to jump up at the thing and catch it in his paws.

    Acrobatics to Jump: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37
    Grapple, if Acrobatics succesful: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

"ah I can wipe his memory, but I would have to wipe all of it. I don't have such a subtle spell as to be selective"
