Moving through a square: You can move through a square occupied by a friendly character, unless you are charging (here's the reference I was searching yesterday, Dolgrin)

Dolgrin's axe hits the hooded man deeply, but he's still standing.
Then Alayna's whip traps his feet, and he falls down on his back.
Nessa, still deafened, can't even hear his fall... Too bad! But now the man is at her mercy... and she probably has no mercy.

"It would seem our enemies are vanquished," Hal mentions to Krucina. He gives a single nod to the fetchling. "You conducted yourself admirably in the fight. We were able to take advantage of the other's fumbling attempt at an intrusion and get our work done. You didn't lose your head nor make costly mistakes." Another nod of satisfaction. His words are meant as neither compliment to Krucina nor offense to the others, just an elf assessing the situation.

He gestures down the hallway. "I'll collect the spell caster, then we'll have a conversation with the captives."

The elf shoulders his bow and grabs up the remainder of the bindings and the hood from the torture chair. In a few strides he's standing over the unconscious magic user and tying him up and ripping a piece of the man's clothing to make a gag. Lastly the hood goes on. "It will suffice for a wizard hood since we have none." Then he begins dragging him into the torture room.

Along the way he notes Dolgrin and Nessa standing over the surrendered and bloody form of their opponent. In an even tone, the elf proclaims, "Krucina and I have this magic user and two others bound and unconscious in the other room." He looks at the bloodied man, head cocking to the side. "This one would be unnecessary." He leaves it at that and heads I to the torture room with his prisoner.

In the dark room are the instruments of interrogation used by the locals; small scissors, a hammer, a poker in a brasero. There's not much furniture, only a chair against the wall. But there's dried blood beneath it.

Hal'dorel lines up the prisoners, all three bound and gagged. Two humans and an elf. The latter is set apart from the others, Hal will question him.

"Clan Hawkwinter," He calls over his shoulder. "...do you wish to begin questioning them?"

Cameron groans slightly, and accepts somebody's hand as he's helped up. "Uh the marching band in my head, needs to go!" He manages a slight self depreciating laugh, "Seems I get all the luck, good and bad. Fitting I suppose. Anyway I'd be dead with out the rest of you, thanks for dealing with these."

Seeing that Alayna is sorely wounded, Cameron grimaces and tells her, "Seems it was a close run thing... Still you survived and luck smiled on you. Dreamer's blessing Alayna."

A nimbus of bluish white light surrounds Cameron's hand briefly as he gently touches the wound. The worst of the bleeding stops in an instance and it closes somewhat, although it still looks sore.

"Lets try this. I'll ask a few gentle questions then, if you think they're lying, you get to scare the, good an proper. Make them believe you'll do something horrible. I'll make out I can protect them from you... I think this will work." [ooc]Aka, good cop, bad cop.

Cameron walks into the room with Hal and he says, "Lets wake this mage up. Make sure his hands are bound tightly, and I doubt he'll be able to cast." Cameron slaps the mage awake, although he doesn't use any unnecessary force.

He smiles at the mage, "Nice spell earlier. Knocked me for six, ah well no hard feelings eh? Anyway, look I think there's been enough violence here today, if you help me, I'll help you. So lets cut to the chase, I'm looking for Krung. Do you know where he is?"

He finds poker very therapeutic. Regrettably I'm not talking about the card game... No my friend is an artist of sorts. Likes to work with red hot pokers, he's very good at what he does. So the prisoners interogated are Six-Aces the mage, Rasper, the young thugs who didn't even put a fight, and the elf?

The mage answers to Cameron
Beltais Krung? The gang leader? Well, no need to be rude. I can tell you all you want to know, or at least all I know, if you let me go. Strange, but I think I've seen you elsewhere... Are you a gambler? I would say I am sorry for the spell, if I thought it can change a thing, but well, I had to take my chances. At the mention of a butterfly tattoo, Cameron gives the man a wintry smile, "I'll take your word on that, although it does mean you'll understand the problem. You see Krung decided that rather than taking his chances with the dice as the lady intended, he made off with as many chips as he can carry. Not very sporting. It would be nice if Krung just gave them back don't you think? No I don't suppose that's very likely either. In truth I don't really care about making an example, the boss just wants his money back. If you where to help us with that, then all will be forgiven, and my Elven friend will indulge his hobbies on somebody else..."

The man gives a small chuckle

Well, you want your money-or your boss money, I don't know and I don't care-I want my money too... Should we do a line? Cause, you know, Beltais promised me some money if I act a few days as a little "security insurance", but the Pauper failed me to pay so far. I had a roof over my head and some food to eat, so I can't complain that much, but I need some real money to pay a few gambling debts... Desna will smile at me again, I'm sure, but her attention is probably somewhere else rigt now, or I won't be your prisoner and a penniless man. All I can say is that Beltais was there when the fight started, but right after my spell, I lose conciousness. Maybe you killed him, maybe he escaped. He's good at that.

Krucina's eyes go wide "Say that again, złodziej?! What does this Beltais look like? What was he wearing?"

Krucina crouches so she is face to face with the man. "Answer! And no lies!"

The man blinks as Krucina speaks harshly to him, then faces Cameron again, probably because he's less frightening.

I'm not that much in a position to argue, and Krung hasn't gave me enough money to buy my loyalty. Right before he went into his room, he was wearing a kind of cape with a hood. Can't tell you which color, I'm color blind. He's always keeping his sharp dagger by his left side. The guy is quite a chameleon, he likes to dress as anything from a peasant to a noble. Cameron looks at the man and considers, 'How far to push this? I think half of my companions would happily kill him, but that doesn't sit right with me. I'll try the 'we are all professionals here' angle one last time and see how the cards fall.'

Cameron glances at Hal after Krucina's outburst and tells the man, "Trust me you really don't want to know. Like I said, there are no hard feelings, this is just business. Now it seems to me you have almost earnt a reprieve, but we need just a little more. If you take the sensible choice and help, things will go like this. You take a long walk in the country, the weather is good, it'll be nice. You return the day after tomorrow and all is good. Don't worry about Beltias he will be in no position to hurt you, in fact we may even hire you if we have need of your skills. If you make the mistake of returning earlier... The man thinks a few minutes.

Fine, here's the deal: you gag and blindfold these two

He nods toward the elf and the young tough

then you blindfold your prisoners, if there are more. You bring them at the corridor, showing their face. If I see Beltais, I nod. Then you free me and the boy, and we make ourselves very discreet for some time. Beware the elf, he's quite a cutthroat, and he's loyal to Beltais, even if I don't know why. I don't want Beltais to know who betrayed him. That way, if he escapes, I got one chance out of three he starts running after me, and with some distance between me and him.. Good odds, if you know how to play your hand

Those who don't interrogate can do whatever they want.

Scum. Filth. Bargaining still as a knife blade dances on their throat. Always seeking to push away accountability for their actions.

His eyes drift to the manacled elf. If this worm's tale is true and you are bound to this sneak-thief Beltias, do I judge you by the laws of my homeland? Brand you a traitor to our kind? Or is there a deeper reason why you bind yourself to this mercurial human?

Hal nods to Krucina and then to Dolgrin. "Let us clear the rest of the level, then bring the dead for this scum to peruse." A glance to Nessa and he says, "Cease your threats. Kill him or bind him with the others. Pointless threats are as empty as those who spout them."

He first goes to the three prisoners and recheck their bonds. As he does so, he pauses at the magic-user and whispers - but loud enough that at least Cameron can hear. "A figure such as Beltias who thrives on subterfuge, would benefit greatly from the use of magic. I wonder if we've already found him?" He let's the words hang in the air then moves into the hallway. (He's got the paranoid trait, of course he'll think this...)

Nessa looks at her captive, "We're going to stand up and go to the torture room, you will stay in front of me and make no movements, my claws will be at your throat and any sudden movement sees you dead, understood?"

Assuming he complies...
Nessa stands up and gets behind her prisoner as he follows instructions. She moves in close behind hom and wraps her wings around them both then puts one clawed hand on his throat, the other grabbingnhis weapon arm. She keeps herself ready for action and escorts him to the torture room. Once there she says, "Sit there, Hal, tie him up." Those who search the place find little of value, only a few pieces of money, mostly silver and copper, with only a few gold pieces 10 GP value.

(room 13)Into the room where the half orc came from, there's not much to see: old mattresses stand propped against the walls, making room for a wide chalk circle smeared with black ichor. Around it, empty wine bottles and a half-eaten goose carcass litter the floor. In a corner at the back of the room, a rack of shelves holds four wooden boxes labeled “Spiker,” “Jabs,” “Bugsy,” and “Pedros.”

(room 9) A copper lantern hangs from the ceiling of this windowless room. Aside from peeling paint, a worn pallet, and some threadbare woolen blankets, there is little of interest.

(Room 16)A sign on the door to this room reads “Mission Bell.”. When you open the door, you see a small, octagonal room with open beams, unfinished walls, and raw floorboards. The room is quite drafty, with scatterings of rat droppings about the corners. Set into the studs of the west wall a crudely spaced ladder leads up to the belfry

(Room 14-Hooded man's room)This room is remarkably clean for a flophouse, and the bed actually looks comfortable—or at least free of lice. Three wardrobe cases lie pushed beneath the bed.

(Room 11)A broad deck fenced in by rickety stiles badly in need of paint overlooks the surrounding city. Atop the deck stands a small shack-like structure caged with wooden slats and stained with white splotches of bird droppings. The sound of pigeons comes from the shack.

North room: the door is closed and locked.

Then there's the equipment of the thugs, which hopefully can be sold

4 leather armor, 3 studded leather, 4 short swords, 8 daggers, one hand axe, one morningstar of very good quality, one mace, one short bow, two vials (DC 10 Craft Alchemy or DC 15 Perception to identify). Feel free to search, you can take 20 ,just tell me which room you are searching

Krucina's face lights up as she sees the locked door to the north and sets out to open that door. She checks the door for traps. If she's confident that there's no booby traps she'll pause to listen for noises.

Check for traps: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Listen at the door: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Spoiler:
Krucina is totally sure there is no trap at the door. Unfortunatly, she can't hear a thing behind the wood door.

Female Fetchling Rogue 2 | HP 20 | AC 16 | Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +1 | Init +3 | Perception +4, Darkvision 60 feet, Low-Light Vision

Confident that there are no traps or anything else behind the door, Krucina attempts to pick the lock.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

The door's lock is no challenge for Krucina's skill, in a few seconds the door can be opened...

GM roll:
Krucina's stealth, open door: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 2 = 7 vs Father Padrick Perception, sleeping and roaring drunk: 1d20 + 2 - 10 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 10 - 4 = -8

Krucina tries to be quiet, but the door creaks a little when she opens it. A simple timber partition splits this room into two part.
Krucina sees an empty bedroom, furnished with a modest bed, a plain writing desk and chair, a wardrobe, and a bookcase. Everything seems neat and clean, an oddity in the building.
The young pale woman hears nothing inside the room..
then someone snoring.

Krucina perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Krucina:
there's a smell lingering in the room, but you can't recognise it.

Female Fetchling Rogue 2 | HP 20 | AC 16 | Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +1 | Init +3 | Perception +4, Darkvision 60 feet, Low-Light Vision

Krucina backs away slowly and softly draws her blade.

Stealh: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

She returns to the torture room and whispers to her allies that there may be another asleep in the north room.

She then beckons Hal to follow her. Placing her finger to her pale lips, she urges him to be be ready with his bow.

Cameron arranges for the new prisoner to be blind folded, and takes a close look at him, making sure he's securely bound. He wakes him up, again by slapping him - but not overly hard.

Cameron marvels at the damage Nessa made, covering him in head to toe in deep gashes and bite, and he thinks 'Wow that must hurt...'

With an even voice he tells the prisoner, "You might be wondering why you're still alive, and if things will ever be the same again... I mean after what you've experienced other women simply aren't going to do it for you! I'll give you back to her later, that is unless you don't want to be flayed alive..." Cameron pauses momentarily and is if confiding in him, tells him, "It's very simple, we just want the casino chips back. If you can show me where they are I'll let you go."

Perception: does he have any tattoos?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Casino chips? What are you talking about? What is the reason of this aggression?

GM:
Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Cameron:
The man has no tatoos. And you feel he's not telling you the truth about the casino chips

Hal is standing outside the half-breed's room, eyes studying the circle on the floor and the boxes on the shelf. His cheek twitches minutely. What sort of filthy dark arts were you up to here? Somehow I doubt you'd the capacity for such things, but I've been wrong about your kind before... When Krucina taps him on the shoulder his grip on his long sword tightens, but the odd perfume cloying subtly around her rinds the elf who is behind him. Stay focused fool. You're lucky it wasn't a knife blade announcing itself in your back.

A simple jut of his chin indicates for Krucina to lead on. Hal's eyes longer on the half-orc's room for a few beats the he turns to follow her.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 (north room)

Hal knocks a Blunt Arrow and posts up outside the doorway, bow drawn. He nods to Krucuna to proceed.

Female Fetchling Rogue 2 | HP 20 | AC 16 | Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +1 | Init +3 | Perception +4, Darkvision 60 feet, Low-Light Vision

Glad to have him watching her back, Krucina nods solemnly and creeps into the newly opened room searching for anyone else and the source of the snoring, her blade is a whisper as it is drawn from its scabbard.

Cameron raises his eyebrows slightly, 'Wow he's a good liar. He sounds totally sincere in his righteous indignation...'

With a slight sigh he tells the man in a dangerously low voice, "The thing you've got to understand is I'm very particular with debts. If I owe somebody some money, I make it a priority to repay them promptly and in full. If I can't do that, I start having issues. There's this guy Milon Chath, I owe him three gold. But you know what I can't find him, I spent weeks looking for him. Followed some trail up into the mountains, a waste of time. Followed him here, there and everywhere. All I want to do is pay him back that three gold I owe. This is most vexing!"

Cameron takes a breath and pauses, looks the man directly in the eye and says, "If I'd do that for three gold I owe, imagine what I'd do when somebody stole several hundred gold from my table. Look you can lie to me if you want, but then I can't help you. You see it's like this, my associates are rather frustrated now and need something to take it out on. You'll do, she'd like to finish what she started. The elf with the bow has some unhealthy hobbies involving amateur torture, and the girl with the strange eyes, well she just wants to rip your lungs out. I can stop them, if you help me that is. Where's the casino chips?"

Bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

GM rolls:
Beltais Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 vs Cameron SM: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17; Beltais SM vs DC 19: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

The hooded man answers Cameron
Fine. I understand. Didn't think I stole so much, but, fair is fair, you caught me. I'm not fond of torture, especially if I'm the one receiving it. If I give you back the casino chips, will you go? I mean, you were the intruders, you killed some of my partners, just because I put a few casino chips in my pocket? You've done more damage to me than I did to whoever send you- through I got an idea about who your boss is, and I'm sure I won't get involved in his business again.

Hal& Krucina (will update the map tonight)
You get inside the room, and quickly Krucina finds a man snoring into the bed, clutching an empty bottle in his hand. He isn't even concious.
His part of the room is dirtier than the other, and numerous bottles are scattered here and there

Dolgrin, Alayna, Nessa, any actions?

She leans in against him, "Can I at least bite him, just a little?" Her fangs pop out as she leans near the fool's neck, the tips of them just brushing his skin.

As far as Nessa is concerned, taking the chips, and anything else we find with them, is perfectly reasonable compensation for our trouble and she will happily leave well enough alone. Though having them leave this place would also be a wise idea, not that Nessa really cares about that.

Still shocked, Cameron stared at cards from the reading, there was no mistaking the message. He whistled low and muttered, "Oh boy, this is going to get interesting..."

Cameron is a support guy and I've got some nifty toys to help you all out:

Sermonic Performance (AKA Inspire Courage).
Bit of Luck (every time the target touched rolls a d20, they roll it. twice and take the better result. Lasts 1 round)
Luck variant channeling (+1 on one d20 roll).
And all the usual clerical buffs.

Players, please PM me where your character is during the day of the tournament, I have some ideas on how to really get them involved in the Golden Goblin, the city of Riddleport, etc when we start up the gameplay thread.

Female Half-Elf, Investigator 1 (Empiricist), HP: 8/8 Fort: +0 , Ref: +4 , Will: +4, AC: 17 (due to shield spell), Touch: 12, Flat Footed: 12, Int: +1, Perception: +9,

Hello everyone. Glad to be a part of this story.

Awesome! Cleric is my favorite divine class. :)

Sounds good to me.

Ok, here's Borgmurch! GM, would you like me to put quick-reference stats under my alias as Yandasana and others do? I usually don't do it, but if it helps you I have no problem adding them.

Borgmurch is a slayer. In combat I'm building him as an archer (and later on finesse flanker). Out of combat he's a trapfinder and rangery/roguey skilled character.

Crunch-wise, it seems there's a lot of overlap with Hal'dorel. Could lead to a fun rivalry I hope. Borgmurch is a successful professional, best rat-catcher in Riddelport! What can the pointy-eared guy say for himself?

Also damn you plan on having a stray dog animal companion. I plan on playing Borgmurch as one who kills (among other things) stray dogs for money. That's just the cherry on top.

A little inter-party tension (as long as it doesn't get out of hand) just adds to the spice ;)

What I am looking at as far as my spell selections are largely compulsions and language based spells since my arcana makes those vastly more useful. I also intend to pick up some area control and at least a few damaging spells. If there are suggestions on what you would like me to have then let me know and I will consider them.

Sorry for the infrequent replies, RL job keeps getting in the way this past week. Don't worry though, when we start I'll be able to keep things moving.

@ Borgmurch: You don't need to, I didn't even realize my alias' info would appear, so honestly if I can reference your sheet via alias, that's fine.

@ two skill monkeys: Yes to a friendly rivalry, no to anything that would shatter the party, unless it would move the story along. Like Cameron said, a little spice is good, too.

@ Nessa: Sounds good

I found a listing of all the proper harrow deck cards and put them in my profile. Unless there's an easier way, on these boards I need to roll 1d6 to get the card's suit and 1d9 to get the card's alignment.

E.g. With a flourish, Cameron draws a card!
Suit: 1d6 ⇒ 4Alignment: 1d9 ⇒ 9

Which is The Snakebite, the chaotic evil card of intelligence. It represents poison, venom, assassination, and discord.

@GM Samael, I don't know if you have read the Malazan book of the fallen, but throught that series there's some very atmospheric card readings foreshadowing major events. Something reminiscent of harrow decks also crop up in Brent Week's lightbringer series.

Edit the 2nd Edition Ravenloft rulebox also had some vistani fortune telling cards, with some rules for the, I remember them being pretty cool. Unfortunately I lost all my old 2nd edition stuff :(

@Borgmurch: Heh, you the greatest rat hunter, me the best human hunter, i think we'll have a very good rivalry going on. Wed have to add Nessa to the competition, she's kind of a hunter in her own way. ;)

As for the dog, by the time Hal adopts him as a companion, he won't even look like a stray. Besides, Hal might be able to convince Borgmurch that Inceku could make an excellent war mount...just imagine. Either way, it'll make for fun interactions.

@Cameron: With your dependence upon luck - which Hal would call nature - you'd have to be one of the more intriguing humans to meet...and not hate. :) I've looked forward to a use of the Harrow Deck (actually considering inserting it's usage into a campaign I'm running) so I'll look forward to your take on it.

@Yandasana - I'm curious as to your take on the Investigator as a LE type. The pragmatism of an Empiricist is really interesting to me. I tried my hand at a LN one in another campaign and he shook out to be like Sherlock (Cumberbatch version) w/o the high functioning sociopath.

@Dolgrin - Ours will be the most complicated of interactions, I'm sure. With Hal's deep seating in the old ways of the elves coupled with his two-faced behavior towards implanting himself among the humans as a spy, he's not going to do much for his lack of trust in the pointy eared race. But it's going to be a helluva show.

We are dealing with wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey ... stuff right now, it seems :)

female tiefling (pitborn) Sorcerer 4 | HP 21/30 | AC 13, TAC 12, FF 11 | CMB +2, CMD 14 | Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perc +0 (darkvision 60 ft) | serpeant's fang (dc 13) (7/7) | Blood Intensity 1/1 Spells: lvl 1 3/7, 2nd 2/4

That explains it then.

Work is killing me (just one more week) I'll post as soon as I can. Sorry guys!

It is fine, I understand about work myself.

How much would a pet viper cost? With Nessa's fondness for snakes, and the fact she gets a viper for a familiar at third level, I wanted to find out while I was thinking about it.

Hmm...it says 5 gp for a common viper on the SRD site for PF.

Hmmm, was looking for that but couldn't find the listing for a price anywhere, must have overlooked it. Mind if I subtract the gold and add that?

Female Half-Elf, Investigator 1 (Empiricist), HP: 8/8 Fort: +0 , Ref: +4 , Will: +4, AC: 17 (due to shield spell), Touch: 12, Flat Footed: 12, Int: +1, Perception: +9,

Really like the characters so far!

I thought I'd find a picture of the outfit I see Cameron wearing. The guy's face is wrong and he has a cloak (with Desna's Symbol embroidered into it), but everything else is right.

That outfit gives me the initial impression that he is a magician.

You have really nice game going on.
Borgmurch is awesome: "Bosssaul" "Aldo Rell".
And I have to admit that I keep imagining what does Nessa's tail look like.

Definitely following this campaign.

Yeah that does look a little like a magician but I was thinking river boat gambler.

Nessa's tail looks largely like nightcrawler's from the movies, though it is the same color as her skin and a bit thinner.

I found a very cool trait, Harrow Chosen. Would fit Cameron to a T, maybe I should have taken a Drawback.
