Sorry for the absence, I'm rolling 1s on my Acrobatics check to mange multiple games. :(

Hal raises a hand to call for silence as Inceku alerts to a potential danger ahead. With his keen elf-sight he spots movement in the bushes and trees.

"Ambush!" Hal'dorel warns and shifts left to get off the road and the line of fire, loosing an arrow (if able) towards one of the bandits.

To his side he commands in elvish, "Inceku, heel!"

Alayna, never one to shy away, moves towards the would be bandits. Her whip flies off of her hip and she brandishes it *Whiish-CRACK* - "You'd do well to set 'em down lads! I dannae think the Elf has a hankerin' for apologies after!"

Move close enough to let 'em have a lash if they don't surrender.

Hal, I think your Ranger's Fav Enemy applies to damage as well :)

Battle on the mountainside:

The terrain is rough (steep slope, movement halved) and your opponents are higher than you on the side, half hidden by some boulders.(getting a +1 attack bonus in melee only and partial cover bonus: +2 on AC and +1 on Reflex saves)

Hal Dorel arrow flies and strikes true, killing one of the three highwaymen. The two other send their javelins on the elf, to avenge their comrade maybe

Gripping his longspear tightly, Cameron bellows "APPROACH!"
The power of command resonates in his voice as he moves forward to meet them.

Cameron spontaneously casts COMMAND DC 14 will save on one of the bandits. He sacrificed True Strike to do so. He then moves forward to meet them, hoping to get an AOO!

Battle:
Will save vs DC 14 Command: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Cameron remembers one of his uncle Milon's wise teaching, when he studied to become a priest
Even a priest of Desna can run out of luck sometimes.

Maybe that wasn't the best of plans. But it could have worked. At least Hal Dorel is partially protected now, and Cameron is an easier target.Maybe it is Hal Dorel lucky day...

Will try to give you a map this week end. Hal now has partial cover too.

Team streets:
A DC 15 Know Local will allow you to know where to find some information. Normally untrained Knowledge check are limited to DC 10, but as Nessa is a Riddleport native, she can try it (even if she can't take 10 and must roll). Or you can spend 1d4 hours to get some informations with a Diplomacy roll. Know Arcana or Know Nature can be used too.

aaaaaand FIGHT!:
Borgmurch is small, and his skin kind of the color of the ground. He is used to not be the first target in a fight out of the city.
This usually changes when foes realize he’s a goblin.

Borgmurch gets an small arrow nocked in no time at all, and lets loose a half-breath later.
As he starts to fight for his life, he pays homage to the time-honored tradition of goblin war songs.

You shouldn’t try to take my gold!
Better alive than dead and cold!

A toothy, threatening grin opens on his face when the arrow hits the target.

Battle on the hills:
Another highwayman is hit, this time by Borgmurch's arrow. But even if he's badly hurt, he's still standing.

Unfortunatly, Alayna, you're too far to hit them with your whip

Seeing that the"ambush" is turning into a disaster, the two remaining bandits turn away from you and start running, one clutching his side where the goblin's arrow hit him, leaving their dead comrade to rot.

Nessa:
you have no particular knowledge about the Blot. It has been over Riddleport for some time now, but you never felt concerned by it.It was there last month, you think. It's called "The Blot" or "Blakely's Shadow", because a cyphermage from Riddleport named Blakely was supposed to be the first to see it. the Blot change shapes from time to time, it even disappears for a few hours sometimes. You know the Overlord of the city put a bounty of 500 Gp for whoever can find what this big black thing in the sky is, and what it can do. You hear that no one has been payed the 500 GP so far.

With a sigh Cameron asks the others, "With any luck they won't be back. I suppose I should say a prayer for this fool, but given the circumstances I'd rather not spend the time to bury him."
Cameron whispers a quick prayer to usher the man's soul on for judgement and then he picks himself up and suggests, "[b]Shall we continue?"[/dice]

Nessa, could you roll for Intimidate attempt? I'm giving you a +2 bonus, as they didn't expected to be seen, and for your strange appearance. Of course, Dolgrin can try to Intimidate too, or try to help you roll (or Nessa can try to help Dolgrin's roll, with the added bonus)

you don't find anything revealing the identity of your attackers. They seem used to be living on the borders of the civilisation, as their clothes are a mix of poor "civilian" rags and furs they tanned themselves out of beasts. All you can find is some small money. Unfortunatly, after more than one hour of walking into the step hills towards the caves, the trail you were following is lost. Maybe too much time has passed. The rocky ground don't hold much tracks, and even Incecu's nose is good enough. The dog seems sad to disappoint his "master", and spend some more time sniffing the ground desperatly

Hal'dorel grinds his teeth in frustration, more from the indignity of being wounded by a human...and a filthy sort to be sure! Grunting he accepts Cameron's healing and nods gratitude. The bloody wound closes but there are still angry welts and bruising left behind. When Cameron looks disappointed, Hal simply shrugs. "It's no less than I deserve for being taken unawares. I consider it just punishment."

During the process, Inceku sits patiently in front of the elf, head cocked to the side. The dog studies him, his aloof demeanor a picture of pity for Hal. The gesture brings a strange grin to the elf's face.

At Alayna's query he waves off her concern. "As I said, this wound is payment due for my lax attentions on the path. I'll mend."

"Let us continue for a while longer. Inceku still has your uncle's scent." But as it becomes clear that the further along the trail they go, the fainter the remnants of his passing become, Hal calls a halt to their progress. He lands down and gives Inceku a reassuring pat. Then to the others, "To continue now would be folly. We need more supplies, perhaps a divining as well," The last is for Cameron. "The trail is cold."

Dolgrin blows air through his beard in shock at the interesting view Nessa gave as she leaned over to kiss the top of his head alongside her words of gratitude, his loss of funds momentarily forgotten. "Erm... You're welcome...," he says, momentarily at a loss for words.

His eyes flare as the tiefling brings the subject back to the theft. "Eight gold...," he growled. "Most of what I made from guarding the fop... and I'm sure I'll never see those coins again. I suppose, I'll just have to earn more... and find a better place to stash it."

Getting out her money, Nessa gives Dolgrin 8 pieces of gold, "There are few willing to risk themselves for my kind Dolgrin. So as payment for services rendered my friend." She gives him an arch look and leans in again so he has the enticingly distracting view, "Unless you'd like a different form of repayment."

Dolgrin licks his lips, staring at the distracting view, running his hand through the hair on his head. The dwarf had been something of an outcast among other dwarves, not just because of his grandfather but also as his studies into the nature of evil kept him isolated. This creature, an offspring of vileness, with obvious traits associated with her demonic patronage... the beautiful dichotomy intrigued him... and her sensual nature certainly didn't interfere... Still... there are other things to attend to... aren't there?

"Save your coin, miss," he said, closing her hand around the coins and gently pushing them back towards her. "I have no real need of it and can easily earn more. Spend it on another pretty bauble. Perhaps it is time to return to the casino anyhow," he continued looking around. "We don't need to attract more unwanted attention."

Seeing the emotions and desire behind hos eyea Nessa thinks, I can have him if I try, the seduction could be quite fun. The question is do I want him or not? Hmm, I must think on thar." Standing back up Nessa get a her bearings, "We go this way to gey back to the casino."

Out on the Trail

.

Hal couches down next to Inceku and gives him a reassuring scratch followed by a bit of dried meat from his pouch. Then he spies the soiled and bloodied clothing.

To Cameron he holds up the items, a grim turn to the corner of his mouth. "Inceku has pointed this clothing out, a sign he's found more of the scent marker..." The elf takes a moment, the silence a rare expression of pity. The possibility of lost family is never easy. "If this is a frequented ambush site for those bandits...then it may be they know more about your Uncle's fate."

@GM: Bit of a retcon here if possible. Could Hal'dorel see if the ambush spot in the rocks had been of frequent use?

Cameron frowns at the grim discovery, "I've never been one for worrying overly about laws, but this... This blatant banditry can't be allowed! I doubt we have time today, but we should come back and hunt them down like the animals they are."

Realizing he's ranting, Cameron paces for a bit to cool down and with a heavy sigh he admits, "I doubt we'll find Milon alive now. Still with your help he can be avenged... But not today, we made a promise to Saul and we should keep in." You can tell that Cameron is very upset but is putting a brave face on it.

As far as Hal Dorel can tell, it's the first and only time this place was used as a "burial site" for dirty and bloodied clothes. There is no body, or trace from a body, even if you extend your research around.

The mystery is not only still whole, but takes a darker meaning.

not relevant, Cameron, but I looked for your Harrowed feat, and im allowing it.Sorry for the delay.

In Riddleport, the rest of the day stays uneventful. You come back to the casino without any problem.

The dwarf manager simply nods when you come back , and says something to Dolgrin in their native langage, making guttural sounds

Надежда вы не имела никакую неприятность с тем . Она не то, что вы могли бы вызывать традиционного карликового помощника души, и ее внешность может бросать опасение как похоть в обеспокоенных сердцах.

In Dwarf:
Hope you had no trouble with that one. She isn't what you could call a traditional dwarf soul mate, and her looks may cast fear as lust in troubled hearts.

arriving back at the casino, Nessa leans down again to give Dolgrin that enticing view once more, "Thanks again Dolgrin," she says in her sultry voice, "We should do it again sometime." She manages to somehow kiss his lips this time, her serpentine, forked, tongue teasing his lips before she stands up and almost skips off with a laugh, "See you in a bit, I need to change for tonight."

"Anytime, Nessa," he replies with a crooked smile, his eyes appreciatively taking in her enticements as well as her more demonic assets.

Dolgrin glances and nods at the manager before turning back to watch the tiefling skip off to her room. "Простопару бандитов и карманника . Нет беда от нее. Конечно, неполовинку . Я исследовал зло большую часть моей жизни , и я считаю , что это позор интригующим в одном , что не является злом сами," he replied.

In Dwarf:

"Just a couple of thugs and a pickpocket. No trouble from her. Certainly not a soul-mate. I've been researching evil most of my life and I find it's taint intriguing in one that is not evil themselves."
