Brallenera, while your spoiler is admirable, i am rather counting on you guys to get to the sled in time. There's plenty fighting left.
In response to Mylvwara's comment above,
I am not going to take up an entire AP, that's too much for me.
However, a PFS character is not going to buy that item without metagame knowledge.
Random PC: "Gods no, we don't have the right weapon to bypass his physical DR!"
(PC unexpectedly draws a plasma rifle and crits the BBEG with a shot to the head)
Who's to say your actual PFS PC doesn't have a distant cousin/friend who sends them 'special offers' once in a while?
After all, it's from the trunk
Mylvwara Elberion |
Oh no, not an entire AP.
But within a single volume you can still play campaign mode if it's a vital-loot kind of game.
GM Chyro |
I went over the chronicles of Iron gods Part II again, and the majority, if not all, of the items, require The Technology Guide, for your PC to benefit from the chronicle.
Since i've purchased bundles in the past, i can also substitute that module for equal tier missions from season 4, 5, 6 or 7.
GM Chyro |
Brallenera, it's worse i'm afraid.
That Death Touch is a domain ability which is deadly if the dmg dealt is equal to -or more- than the (living) target's current hp.
It is a 1 a/day death effect, to be used when she had the chance, after her attack spells.

Aren’t these updated to PF?
In PF it’s Bleeding Touch for the Death domain, which is not so deadly.
GM Chyro |
These missions were from the olden days, shall i call them.
I am only aware of conversion regarding CMB & CMD, and monsters.
Following the above, i was under the assumption that i can only use newer versions if it were the same ability/monster.
I'll ask around.
GM Chyro |
Link, why i fear it won't replace Death Touch.
Can I modify a Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild scenario that I am running as part of the Organized Play program?
No. Run the scenario as written.
Feel free to ask around as well, we might solve the issue faster that way.
But for now it's looking at the worse.Carr |
Scenarios are to be run with minimal changes by GMs, limited to adding CMB/CMD scores to NPCs and monsters and using newly combined skills such as Stealth and Perception instead of Move Silently and Spot. If a creature in the scenario also appears in a Pathfinder RPG Bestiary volume and has the same CR, you may use the stats from that volume. This is the only substitution allowed in these scenarios.
I guess my question would follow there, is this a "creature"? Should the NPC conform to CRB domain abilities?
EDIT: As a VL, I'm always in support of Rule 0.
EDIT the 2nd:
As a Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild GM, you have the right and responsibility to make whatever judgments, within the rules, that you feel are necessary at your table to ensure everyone has a fair and fun experience. This does not mean you can contradict rules or restrictions outlined in this document, a published Pathfinder RPG source, errata document, or official FAQ on paizo.com. What it does mean is that only you can judge what is right for your table during cases not covered in these sources.
So what that would potentially give you as an out is using rules as outlined in a published PFRPG source, i.e. the CRB.
Mylvwara Elberion |
Oh, yeah, I appreciate that they are 3.5 scenarios.
I didn't know how much conversion was included.
I'm running a 3.5 adventure in PF at the moment (Red Hand of Doom) and I have every creature converted to PF completely, so I guess that's where my head is at.
Plus, I'll always look a little bit closer at life-or-death situations and I didn't remember that particular domain ability.
It's GMs call, I'm just worrying that Brallenera burnt all of her prestige on the previous ressurection.
GM Chyro |
Someone else agreed that, despite formally the 3.5 ability is to be used, it's fine to substitute with bleeding touch in this case.
So yippie, something lethal has turned into something insignificantly weak. :P
GM Chyro |
With current situation, i'd like to ask.
Strictly speaking, your sole mission was to retrieve the bones and bring them back.
Putting it in a Mass Effect wheel of choices:
Paragon: Fight the taer in heroic fashion and try to save the outpost, good chance of someone dying trying.
Renegade: You have what you came for, let the outcasts & exiles fend for themselves.
Neutral/(survival instinct): Odds are dire, is this really worth risking our injured necks for? We've lost Ting already.
Mylvwara Elberion |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Well, Quinn and Brallenera are both Good aligned.
So, unless all seems utterly lost, they might well rush into battle.
But meta-gaming a little, with the desire to maintain the adventure...
We're not just getting the bones for a museum but to save many lives, so it seems as though the greater good The Greater Good! might best be served if we run away.
Mylvwara Elberion |
GM Chyro |
No.
Initial move, drawing shortspears, throwing spears as readied action.
GM Chyro |
If those two rage, the taer shouldn't be long of a problem, the bulky one might stand a little longer, but nonetheless.
Their AC is average. (lower than 20)
GM Chyro |
Brallenera, afaik, using a standard wouldn't be compatible with attacking thereafter.
Since i don't fancy the prospect of more casualties, meta-wise i'd like to say this.
Though it's entirely up to you to decide...
Saving the outpost is the 2nd PP for the mission.
Recovering your corpse costs 5PP, on top of the no cheap amount of either PP or GP to get you resurrected.
Since your sleds are very closeby, it's quite plausible to hop on and bail to safety. (Or how Edna put it, skedaddle)
A sled outpaces the taer.
I'll pause for your thoughts on this, before going into the next round.
GM Chyro |
Then i'll take it you withdraw to your sled?
Carr |
Carr would also note that... he can get us our second PP.
Carr |
I am a member of the GRAND LODGE and I have a piece of paper (faction goal sheet, season... wanna say 8) saying that I can a limited number of times go back to a previous area I've visited and discover things I didn't the first time around. This enables me, and any player who was at that scenario with me, to gain the prestige for the secondary success condition. This will not offset any gold loss we experience for missing out on that combat, but helps with PP. :)
GM Chyro |
The 2nd PP is preventing the outpost from burning down.
Got time travel? :)
Carr |
I don't argue the mechanic, I just say what it is. I can scan it and upload.
GM Chyro |
No need, i'll take your word for it.
This isn't the only old mission in such a fashion, of needing to actively do something during a mission.
For example, 2nd PP was to give item [X] to the VC instead of its rightful owner.
Or not getting hit by more than [X] number of traps in the mission.
Some objectives are so random.
Carr |
Indeed. What I like in a lot of newer scenarios are that there's a margin of error. "Complete 3 out of 5 of X"
GM Chyro |
Right. Like the confirmation's 2nd objective checklist.
GM Chyro |
So Ting's mentioned he has enough for at least revival. (Both negative levels restored too?)
That leaves the choice of what to take on next.
Mylvwara and i both have the technology guide, making an Iron Gods possible for us.
But otherwise i'll substitute it with 3 tier 5-6 missions. Or 6-7, if you want, since 3 of you are lvl 6, right?
Likewise, there were votes for recruiting a 5th, i recall. Since it's unlikely we'll have the luck they can play the whole list ahead of us, i'm guessing a few missions will be with 4?
Ting Tang |
*You can buy raise dead using 16 PP, 5,450 gp, or 8 PP and 2,450 gp
Hmmmm
Ting has 16 PP as of the ending of the last adventure (12/19/17)
So now we just need to figure out the negative levels...
Level 4 cleric spell + 1,000 gp.
Caster level × spell level × 10 gp
7th level cleric
7x4x10 = 280 gp + 1,000 gp. =1,280 gp x2 = 2,560 gp.
Ting has 3,760 gp.
So that put's him @ 0 PP, 1,200 gp. And 14 XP, so 5th level
he may have to go buy a bow so he can shoot at things far far away
Happy to pick up a 5th if we can find someone. and if Iron Gods will help get us underway, that's fine too.
GM Chyro |
AP content will have some challenges. :)
Then again.. insta-lvl.
GM Chyro |
Bot: [TARGET ENGAGED]
Mylvwara casts: Rusting touch
Bot: [ERROR: MOBILITY MALFUNCTION]
GM Chyro |
Mylvwara, which PC will get credit for To Scale the Dragon?
GM Chyro |
Any preference to the role of a 5th?
Personally i'd think healing capabilities useful.
Brallenera Thalkham |
Awww, healing would be great
Level 6
HP +7 base+1Fc+4 Con+1 toughness=+13 HP (total 83 HP)
+1 to all saves
+1 Bab and second attack(+6/+1)
Rage 18 rounds/day
rage power (to select)
Cold resistance 2
skills (4)
Craft tailor +1
Perception+1
Survival +2
GM Chyro |
A healer/semi healer it is then. :)
Still need to know what PC of Mylvwara is taking credit for this mission, i can't report withput it.
