She'll also probably look to spend some time helping at the soup kitchen as well. And would certainly appreciate Karrin's efforts to show her the ropes. Also, she'll probably go back to the temple Karrin took her to before, since she's having a hard time dealing with the fact that she exploded someone's head.
Just one head? :P

You have NO idea! ;P
And ,... HOly Moley! Looking at all the new posts, it looks more like I lost a WEEK!?!
Justin has few things he's looking to get done,...
1- Scribe a few scrolls INTO his spellbook,...
2- Scribe a few new scrolls FROM his spellbook,... ;)
3- Check in, up and etc into a certain foul-mouthed air-genasi dancer,... :)
4- CHeck in on his old landlady, and maybe pay up for another months rent if he has it after this foray, just so he doesn't have to move ALL his stuff out right away,... he's still deciding if he fits into this group,... The fact that he has a 'friend' staying there right now is STRICTLY coincidental! ;P
5- ID all the toys we got from the Plane of Fire and the Necro tower. Justin is interested in the two swords the priests were carrying if they are magical.
6- Are we going 3.5 or PF for feats/lvl? Because PF added a few extra feats in there. If he gets an extra feat, he may be making a few magic toys,... With the MOnkey's permission, of course.

Bethany is leveled to 5. :D
This means that Spellcraft is now 1 Point higher (5) and Appraise is now 4 Points lower (0). I hope you don't mind and if you do then I am happy to change it back no worries. :)
One thing regarding leveling and converting to finalized PFRPG Rules. We all used the Double hp at 1st Level Rule which was one of the bonus hp Rules present in the BETA. This Rule is no longer there under PFRPG Rules. Should we keep these bonus hp, or minus them from our now 5th Level hp?
I have minused them when leveling Bethany, but it's just as easy for me to add 8hp back in.
flash_cxxi wrote:I can run this either way, if you want to keep your homeworld off the radar we can say that she had no luck, or if you want you can have access.I'd say that Bethany would plan to try and find out more about a Portal home at this stage. She hasn't formed any close bonds with the group as yet (except for Drazek ;) ) and so she'd spend her time looking.
After a while of spending time with the others though, her efforts would become more sporadic. She'd still keep trying, but just not as regularly.
This is actually a very good question. I'm not sure that if Bethany found a Portal to Conchord that she would stick around in Sigil. She doesn't particularly like it here and the only other Plane she's seen has been the Elemental Plane of Fire... not really much of an enticement for her. :/
So I suppose at this stage that she can't find (or lacks the funds to find) a Portal or Knowledge of a Portal back to Conchord.Cheers :)

Umm, stoopid rule fluxuations .. :P
OK, here's the deal. Everyone take the max HP you would have at this level. No rolling, no double HP at 1st level. That should straighten everything out.

Well, it's best if she doesn't find a way home. One, it's not my world, so it would be hard to run Bethany through it. Two, she'd just go home. Three, she didn't show up in the Cage through a normal portal, so there is no guarantee that there is even a gate to Conchord IN Sigil. Sigil has thousands of gates, but very few of them are reliable over time and/or stay in one place. In fact, many of the most-used portals are what are known as 'chain gates' where you have to grab two or three different gates to get where you wnat to be.

Ekuur's downtime is going to be spent crafting a few scrolls, and visiting with the other Athasian ex-pats. One thing he will NOT do, is return to the temple of Kossuth; after his experiences, he's developed an even deeper faith in fire as a force, and has no respect at all for the so-called "powers". In fact, he may even begin to scout out possible locations where he could buy/build a temple to the Sacred Flame itself.

In Sigil, the Temple District has many different 'neighborhoods' for different expense levels. Most starting temples end up on the Lower Ward border. It's inexpensive, but the quality of buildings isn't that great.

Ah, but you only go to prison if they catch you. Anyway, a few rolls to pick-pocket: 1d20+11;1d20+11;1d20+11
And one for any information I can overhear about the Shadowknave(Diplomacy) 1d20+8
True enough. I figure if the Perception rolls go bad we can run a little mini scenario.
1d20 ⇒ 121d20 ⇒ 31d20 ⇒ 1
Heh. Guess not. I'll write in the coin garnered in my big interlude write up (along with any info on Shadowknave)

Aside from serving as Bethany's welcome distraction from being in Sigil, Drazek will probably spend his downime doing just about whatever entertains him. He hates the peole where he's from and has no reason to go home, and he actually kind of likes Sigil despite the wierd talk. He's also help out the other Ailver Rose members if they needed backup.
Forgot the feat, will fifnsh levelling shortly, found a great new invocation in one of the Eberron books.

OK done with the feat, Combat reflexes. Invocation is actually from Dragon and is called Voice of Madness.
Voice of Madness(DR332 p212)

OK folks, if we could get the five questions set. Pool your info so you know what questions you already know. I'll recap what you have so far (that I remember! :P):
***
- The gang/proto-faction is known as the Illuminated
- Their sigul is a open eye bounded by a triangle
- It is run by Green Marvent, a top shelf wizard
- Green Marvent keeps kip in Plaguemort, the border city from the Outlands to the Abyss
- Shadowknave is the head of Illuminated operations in Sigil
- He has been called a 'shadowdancer' but that is a relative term.
- He is known to hang out at the Butcher's Block a disreputable Hiver bubhouse.
- They are kidnapping barmies off the Hive streets, somehow curing them and sending them in as spies to infiltrate other factions.
- You know of two 'spies', Eliath in the Doomguard and the odd Carrot Top-looking feller in the Fated.
- Imogen is Green Marvent's Githyanki lieutenant who ran the Citadel of Fire
That's all I can think of now. Try and come up with a set of questions by tomorrow and we'll run this puppy.

I think it was before Swire joined up: we were looking for info in the Clerk's Ward and happened on someone we recognized from our first trip to the Mortuary- when he was dead. He'd be a new recruit. I think we also got a lead on which inn he's holed up at.
Dungeon Monkey |
Here's that info:
As you walk by the Crooked Sword, you glance in the open door, distracted by the warmth and conversations going on within. It seems like a decent bubhouse, much cleaner than any in the Hive, and filled with adventurer types and a gaggle of Takers. The Hall of Records is but a few blocks away, so that is not strange.
One cutter seated inside catches your eye. He is sitting with two obvious Takers towards the back of the common room, and he is wearing a Taken faction symbol as well. He is tall, skinny, and has ginger coloring and long kinky red hair, now tied severely in a ponytail. The berk is the spitting image of the barmy that you saw scragged in the Hive, the one who spouted all those demon lord names. He looks anything but barmy now, and he is relaxing and chatting with the other two Takers. His brown waistcoat has been replaced by a rough but clean tunic and a good black wool cloak.
Dungeon Monkey |
Wait, they've got a guy in the Fated? Looks like I've got another guy to talk to during our timeskip then. So, do any of you know anything about Carrot Top I should know? For that matter, do I know this guy already? Knowledge(Local): 1d20+10
Swire, sorry I missed this post. Unfortunately he is a recent convert to the cause, so you would have no reason to know him. Thanks to that high roll, I will say that you have seen the guy around the Hive while he was still in barmy mode. He liked to scream demon lord names out loud to himself as he skipped along the road. The fact that he looks like Carrot Top makes him hard to miss...

"Anyway," Karrin quickly adds looking at her hand to keep count so she doesn't forget anything, "I think the questions we should ask are one: How can we find the Shadowknave? Two: Who are your agents and how do you communicate with each other? Three: What is the Illuminated planning to do and why? Four: What is the best way to stop you? And Five: Where does the illuminated hide their treasure."
Anyone have a problem with these?

Three is two questions, but otherwise no problem.

Well, if you want to be pedantic about it, we can probably take 4 off the list, since he's probably just going to say that they're unstoppable and we're doomed to fail, etc.

Oops, number two is two questions as well! Should I drop the treasure question? I can tell you, there is likely no Alladin cave you can plunder ...
Sure. After all, they'll probably tell us where it is if we hold a knife to their throats anyway. (Figuratively or literally.)

Yes, Karrin set up her questions so that you could drop the bottom ones to expand on the more important ones at the top if necessary. Karrin only asked about the treasure because there was a stash of it in the morgue. She figgured that there might be more caches elsewhere.

OK, Mark/Drazek brought up a Metagaming point in the main thread. I am an old-school DM, and I will try to work on getting more items out to you. If you all would do me a favor, perhaps put out a couple of suggestions of items you'd like your character to eventually procure and post them here. I don't mind working them into the storyline.

For the Hat of disguise/Robe of blending, Hey! That's what makes this game so much fun! Because no matter HOW many guys you have writing the rules, or how many play test it, we will ALWAYS find some way to get creative with it! (I'm just talking creative/fun in game, not powergaming, completely different animal!) ;P
(In 2ed, the wording of the Alter self spell, (with cooperation of a fellow imaginative DM) allowed me to reconstruct the decomposed body of an ancient hero, (after retrieving what I needed from it), winning me brownie points with the hero's guardian ghost!) AH, good times! ;)
-What would Justin like??? (WHat WOULDN'T he like!) ;P Given time and resources, (and the creation feats) and he/I would most likely be happy tinkering a few things together. No rule-breaking items or Staffs of Power, (yet!) just a few creative/useful items. I have been churning a few things around in my head, I'll run those by all later.
(I actually like (constructive) feedback, as I am a product of 1st/2nd Ed, when there WERE no creation rules, and we could (and did) fuse staffs of power with staffs of the magi, and other little things that made the One Ring look like a tinkertoy!) ;)
I'll try to update tonight, but it will probably be tomorrow. (I HAVE to get some sleep SOMEtime this week!)

Isaac's into anything that helps him get around/survive on the planes, since exploration and travel are what he really likes. Boots of Striding and Springing would be great to help get the most out of his Spring Attack feat. Beyond that, almost anything. He's pretty well covered at the moment, though.

Do you want to keep with the spear motif? I'm sure I can find a magical one hereabouts ...

I haven't taken weapon focus or anything, so I don't need to stick with any particular weapon set. He's taken the archery feats for the ranger class, but doesn't usually even work from a distance. I guess the concept is that he's adaptable above all, so if something like a frost greatsword (for example) came up that no one else wanted to use, he would teach himself to use it well enough until some other weapon came into his hands.
Guy Humual |
Karrin is pretty much intent on upgrading her equipment rather then buying new stuff. She would love to upgrade her armour, her Mitt (AKA her spiked gauntlet), and she would love something to increase her maneuverability. Ring of freedom would be great. As would some way to regenerate health in a fight.
flash_cxxi RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32 |
Well Bethany has most of the stuff she needs already on hand, all be it in a diminished capacity. She has her Sabre and Footbow as Masterwork so they can be enchanted, as I am not stupid and in choosing strange weapons I realize that the cances of finding magical versions of them in a treasure cache is zero without GM intervention, which I would not ask for.
She also has her Armour Enhanced Slip ready and waiting to be enchanted further, as well as her Magical Lyre, also waiting for additional enchantment.
As you can see she is well covered already in that respect and so really she needs the money to be able to do all of that.
Other than that, she would be happy with minor items here and there (like the earrings) and anything that will boost her AC is most welcome.

I have a request for my rules-wise friends.
I have decided that I would like to try and enter the Superstar contest. I finally received a small flash of inspiration, and believe I have an idea that might be worth it.
My question to you all is, if I were to email you (NOT POST!) my proposed entry, could you/would you be so kind as to Email me back your individual thoughts on it? No discussing between us, (I want this to be my creation, not a group project! ;P ) Just honest first-impression feedback. Having no local game group (currently) to rely on, I turn to you, my PbP co-conspirators, for assistance.
If you would be interested, and so kind, as to help me with this, please post your email here under a spoiler (spelled out if you feel safer that way, Or I can post my email here, and those interested can email me theirs.)
Thank you,
Rags
