Scarab Sages

I've a decent idea on summon monster but I know there's other spells like summon nature's ally and I'm wondering what people think is the largest (as in pure size e.g. small, medium, etc) creature you can summon with a spell?

The largest I can think of offhand is the Tyrannosaurus which is Gargantuan in size.

I suppose the Gate spell could summon something slightly larger if they are able to squeeze through the 20 foot diameter.

Cthulhu is a colossal creature with the compression ability. You could potentially gate it in and it wouldn’t even need to squeeze.

If you use the expanded summon monster feat, you can get the giant snapping turtle with summon monster 7.

It’s hard to say which gargantuan creature is the biggest, but that’s the earliest.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

With the same Expanded Summon Monster feat, you can also get the Immense Tortoise at summon monster 6. This immense beast is Colossal and should be the biggest thing that can be summoned.

You can summon a tarrasque?

It takes a L 9 occult ritual to summon a "generic" Spawn. The Mythic version of the ritual can summon the Tarrasque (or another named Spawn).

It is known lore that the Oliphant of Jaundelay has been summoned and bound into service, although the rituals required have never been defined in PC accessible terms...

At various times some determined crazies have summoned parts of The Watcher but it's hard to fit all of another dimension into Golarion but it can work for a "quickie"... sometimes the rules of your comfortable assumed Reality just don't apply...

and then there's Neth

there's a reasonable number of Colossal creatures.

Absolutely correct as per natural speaking. In game terms, though, it's not actually an occult ritual. Those have unique rules that don't apply to spawn calling.

Inner Sea Gods - where spawn calling was printed - came out before Occult Adventures. Or else it probably would have been an occult ritual.

i'd like to add that using this item when casting summoning spells will give the summoned creatures the giant template (can't be added to Colossal creatures) which among other also increase it's size.

Interesting.
